Session 0 Checklist

Character Creation: RAW on EU with the following restrictions.

GM Style: I’m a RAW GM. I extensively prepare, but am willing & able to adapt within reason. Narrative-wise, I default to whatever's most cool and dramatic. If you want to hear more about my GMing style, check out the podcast for select episodes where this is covered. Also, I love to use high resolution maps in the course of gameplay, but these won't always be an indication of a battle.

Player Behavior, Game Behavior & GM Expectations
  • Behavior rules: Try to be polite & cool with the GM & your fellow players.
  • Disruptive topics: Keep OOC stuff to private IMs.
  • Meta-knowledge: NO META-GAMING.
  • Murder Hobos: All actions have consequences. Bear this is mind.
  • PC Secrets: Players are allowed to keep in-game secrets from other players.
  • Player Absences: Per site policy, the minimum post rate is once per week. If you miss more than 1 week in a stretch without a tracker post, you will receive a warning. More than once and I may, at my discretion, kick your character from the group. As these characters are not transferable, that means your character account gets deleted.
  • Player Agency: You describe you character’s intended actions. I narrate the results.
  • Player Attention: If you can’t pay attention, don’t play. Interruptions due to IRL are entirely understandable & reasonable, but try to set aside the time.
  • Player Discomfort: You’re adults. Control yourselves. ‘Nuff said.
  • Player Vs Player: Allowed if reasonable & in-character.
  • Undescribed dice rolls: Every skill roll must have a corresponding intention described.
      Example: Prowl: 45% / 1d100 = 1 (trying to sneak past the guard on the left)

Player Expectations
  • 1. What do you as a player want from this game?
    Fun! Seriously though, I like the exploration aspect of this sort of game. From Indiana Jones type ancient (Pre-Rifts) structure delving to mapping out previously unexplored regions. And low-medium powered battle excitement.
  • 2. What are your goals for your characters?
    He wants to not only see as much of America as possible, but also other parts of the world. As in overseas places like Germany, South America, Japan, etc. Places he has only read about in old Pre-Rifts books.
  • 3. Are you okay with an adventure or sub-plot being centered around one character?
    Sure, they're part of the story after all.

  • 4. Where were you born?
    A small town in CS Minnesota, small as in population 1,500 people or so. Has a town hall, and maybe a dozen other buildings. Lets call it Blood Gulch.
  • 5. Who are/were your character’s parents, siblings, & mentors? Are they still alive?
    Father; Leonard, works as a wilderness guide in Minnesota, Mother; Kathleen, raises children at home, Twin younger brothers; Tucker & Caboose (8 years old), Older sister; Carolina (24 years old), she works as a waitress in their small town. All are still alive.
  • 6. What were you doing before becoming a merc?
    A wilderness guide like his father.
  • 7. Why did you leave home to become a merc?
    To get out and see more of the world.
  • 8. What did you leave behind?
    Just his immediate family, and maybe a handful of friends.
  • 9. What do you want?
    He decide to take up after his father because he wants to get out into the world and see what is out there. Poor health as a child led him to become a Juicer so he could do all this.
  • 10. What is your relationship with the other characters?
    Unknown at this point?

  • 1. What do you as a player want from this game? To see the land, and interact with it.
  • 2. What are your goals for your characters? Don't really have a goal per say, though he'll probably develop one given the chance.
  • 3. Are you okay with an adventure or sub-plot being centered around one character? Sure.

  • 4. Where were you born? Great Carolina Swamp, a few days north east of Char, in the region known as the Dinosaur Swamp.
  • 5. Who are/were your character’s parents, siblings, & mentors? Are they still alive? Jeff and Maria Caslow (Parents; both alive), Micah, Scott, Mitch, Andrew & George (Adoptive brothers, all alive). No real mentor, save family and local neighbors.
  • 6. What were you doing before you became a merc? Phil worked for a man named Matthew Rogal to hunt down a menace attacking people in Char, ended up teaming up with the Templar at one point.
  • 7. Why did you leave home to become a merc? Wanted to see more of the world.
  • 8. What did you leave behind? Family and friends.
  • 9. What do you want? See the world.
  • 10. What is your relationship with the other characters? Don't know yet, just meeting them.

    To really bring the North America parts of Rifts to life.
  • 2. What are your goals for your characters?
    Really just have fun. If he gets lots of money or i sa ble to level up in the teens is just icing on the cake.

    Not at all.

    Just a small farming town in the Republic of Ishpeming.
  • 5. Who are/were your character’s parents, siblings, & mentors? Are they still alive?
    Billy and Mary are my ma and pa. I have a sister who is good with a wrench and my two dumbass brothers.
  • 6. What were you doing before you became a merc?
    I flew a crop duster for the family farms.
  • 7. Why did you leave home to become a merc?
    After my sweet Suzy passed on from the cancer I went on to chase the clouds. Needed to Catch that Riiide!
  • 8. What did you leave behind?
    My two boys Roland and Clint, the family farms and a some what normal life.
  • 9. What do you want?
    I want to see the world so I have great stories to tell the family folk when I go home. Making some good money would be nice too.
  • 10. What is your relationship with the other characters?
    Shoot man, how should I know? Never meet them before.

  • 1. What do you as a player want from this game?
    Good roleplay interaction, entertaining environment.
  • 2. What are your goals for your characters?
    The characters main goal (so far) is to learn as much as he can about the pre-rifts world (mostly) and his world (as a means to learning more about the pre-rifts world).
  • 3. Are you okay with an adventure or sub-plot being centered around one character?
    As long as it leaves room for interaction from the team. If it becomes single player dominant then it can lose it's fun value.

  • 4. Where were you born? --A Small village outside of Merctown
  • 5. Who are/were your character’s parents, siblings, & mentors? Are they still alive? --Parents, Tom and Jane, Alive, local farmers. No siblings. Mentor, Stuart, Old man, hunter, spent lots of time exploring the areas around the town and had tons of stories to tell
  • 6. What were you doing before you became a merc? --William does not consider himself a merc. He is an archeologist. If it means he has to work with mercs to accomplish that then so be it.
  • 7. Why did you leave home to become a merc? --Left home in hopes of finding glorious new discoveries of Pre-rifts items and knowledge
  • 8. What did you leave behind? --nothing much, except Stuart. Not really looking back in life. Moving forward
  • 9. What do you want? --To seek out new and amazing discoveries.
  • 10. What is your relationship with the other characters? --None so far, haven't met them.

    To learn and see and do. She want to find out what is out in the wide wild world

    Parent are still alive, at least they were when she left. They are mid-level bureaucrats in Chi-town. Basically paper shufflers.
  • 6. What were you doing before you became a merc?
    School and then was a doc in the Burbs
  • 7. Why did you leave home to become a merc?
    I'm too smart... or stubborn for my own good. I had to leave before the government put me on a watch list or shipped me off somewhere. Plus the CS control of information didn't suit my desire to know everything
  • 8. What did you leave behind?
    Just my parents. I love them, but they sold their ambition for safety
  • 9. What do you want?
    To see and learn as much as i can and to prove the CS dogma is wrong, at the very least to myself, if no one else.
  • 10. What is your relationship with the other characters?
    This is a rough looking group of guys, but they seem pretty standup though.
