Taste of the Town (25)

For high class, fine dining, there are few spots better than Taste of the Town. The food is varied, with dishes from a myriad of cultures, including a handful of alien delicacies. Quality is superb and the average meal costs 50-100 credits. Taste of the Town was the first restaurant opened by Boris Charovich (8th level Chef/Merchant), MercTown 's premier restaurateur. Charovich is a well known, highly regarded and successful businessman who owns or co-owns a dozen of the finest restaurants, bars and clubs in town. What few realize is that he is also a front man for the Black Market. To open Taste of the Town he was forced to borrow credits from the syndicate, and now Ted Dutcher is a silent partner in all of Charovich's businesses and skims a quarter of the profits. Fortunately, Boss Dutcher is only interested in the profits, and Charovich has a free hand in how his businesses are run, so long as he pays the B lack Market its due. Although frustrated and annoyed by the arrangement, Charovich isn't hurting from it. He's made several million credits and the mobsters who frequent some of his restaurants are always polite, respectful, and big tippers. They also help to squash troublemakers and problems before they get out of hand - Boss Dutcher protects his investments.

The beautiful restaurant was bustling with activity even at this time of night, with the outdoor lounge area filled with high profile looking individuals, more human than not. Pulling up in a snazz limousine, Jezebel is the first of the GIRLS that steps out and she earns some stares from patrons and passerbys. As the GIRLS filter out, they all enter the building, they notice a live band playing excellent music, and dozens upon dozens of nicely dressed patrons inside. It's impossible to tell the difference between the low life's and the high life's in this establishment as it seems at the bare minimum, everyone seems to be dressed like stars. The group is greeted by a beautiful human hostess.

"Table for seven?" She asks and then escorts the group to a large, rectangular table with six chairs on either side and one on either end, seating eight. After seating everyone, the hostess points too a small electronic pad near each different chair. "Please use this to place your orders, ask for drinks, refills or other general questions. Your server, Horace, will be here soon to help facilitate your time here." She says with a smile and takes her leave.

Everyone has before them an electronic kiosk about the size of a small tablet with varying menu items, specials and drink orders.

Jez slides out of the limousine with the other seven GIRLS, and slinks her way into the restaurant, following the server to the long table with the tablet-menus. Before she lets the server go, she asks her if the restaurant would be amenable to lowering the lights to a comfortable level for Jezebel. Jez is amenable to paying for such if required. Fancy and high-tech. I like it! She beams a huge goofy smile at all the other GIRLS, clearly excited to finally be able to have such a special night. Camaraderie is built not just through work, but also through play! Jez peruses the digital menu and makes two selections. An entree of something yummy-looking white lumps called "gnocchi" and some kind of red meat served with scrumptious-looking tubers.
    • Gnocchis with daikon/shrimp, half cooked veal, smoked oil
    • Dry-aged beef sirloin, roasted potatoes
She looks up from her tablet-menu to the rest of the GIRLS at the table with a huge smile. "We each deserve treats like this from time to time," she says to all seated at the table.

Analoy makes it a point to push her leg through the high slit in her dress as she steps out of the limo. Making her way into the restaurant she can't help but to look out over the room at all the marvelous plates arranged in front of the rather forgettable crowd of people. She takes a few deep breaths to aid in her appraisal of the various dishes before they arrive at the table.

Taking a seat in the middle of one of the sides, Analoy glances at the tablet when their host directs them to it for the menu. Furrowing her brows at the menu tablet, she starts fumbling with it like Larmac who was asked to do a hard days work. I really should make it a point to learn about computer. Its a good thing this menu is just a touch point. After a few minutes she's pretty sure she's ordered:
º Sea bass, kale cabbage, celeriac/hazelnuts mash, citrus sauce
º Figs feuilleté, fontainebleau cream

She looks to the other GIRLS as they look over the menu, "If you see something you like, let me know and maybe I can replicate it back at home."

Before exiting the limousine, Amber uses Alter Aura to change her aura in the following ways:
• Conceal the I.S.P. levels to be show them to be minimal (like a minor psychic).
• Conceal the amount of base P.P.E.; seems to be only 1 -2 points.
Alter Aura will last for 8 hours. Costs 2 I.S.P.

Amber exits the limousine and strides purposefully into the glitzy restaurant acting like she belongs here and does high-class restaurants every day. Now this is how to make an entrance! She thinks with a satisfied grin on her face.

As they are being seated she has a quick word with Jez. She keeps her voice low to avoid being overheard by any of the nearby patrons of the restaurant. “I don’t know if this is anything, but I thought I should say something. It’s about our new Unit back at the Hangar. I’m pretty sure it is up to something and not sitting just sitting there guarding our door while we are out. It told Lucy that it would remain near the doorway unless it needed to communicate with the group, but it has moved and was in a different location in the main hanger. It doesn't seem like it's trying to hide exactly, but when any of the GIRLS go near it, it ceases any movement and goes still unless approached. I’m sure it is observing us and probably has the whole hangar or our gear rigged with listening devices by now.” She shrugs, “I don’t know what to do about it now, but I’m thinking we will have to be very careful about what we say around it. Let’s enjoy the evening and figure it out later.”

Analoy wrote:She looks to the other GIRLS as they look over the menu, "If you see something you like, let me know and maybe I can replicate it back at home."

Hopefully that is the last business I need to complete tonight, she thinks as she has a seat at the table and starts scrolling through the menu. “Oh good! They have seafood!” She exclaims. “I love seafood. It’s not very easy to come by where I’m from, so anytime you want to make seafood Analoy, I’m in!” She makes an easy decision to have the roasted scallops as a starter, and sea bass with vegetables and rice as her main course. She also asks for a glass of chardonnay to pair with her meal.

Millicent steps out of the limousine and looses her breathe for a second. this is how the comfortable live. The Operator is silent as she follows Jezebel and the others into the restaurant and is escorted to their table. ”This reminds me of some of the restaraunts in Quebec I was told about…” The awe in Millicents voice is apparent. She will suggest two plates for the table:
    • Soft-boiled egg, truffle, shitakes mushroom mash with porto wine, parmesan cheese foam.
    • Pan-fried foie gras, jerusalem artichoke cappuccino

”This place is magnifique!” Millicent’s French accent bleeds through as he excitement for the restaurant continues to build. Then she sees the drink menu. ”oh! This is a place where you get to taste the wine until you find one you like!” Millicent was sure there was probably a few more steps involved, but that basic premise made her forget the opulence of the arena she currently was in.

As Amber mentions her concerns about their guest, Milly agrees, with some confidence. ”It may be spying on us, but once I have a month or two with it… I will be able to tell you how it was made and what ever surprises it may be hiding from us. What we want to do with it however.” Milly lets the thought die in the air. ”If we are going to play nice with its maker then we should play nice with it. For now. Either way, I cant wait to take that thing apart.”

Setting the Scene

The lighting of the area is varied and adjustable for different sections of the restaurant and easily adjusted to a low, comfortable dim for the Arismal but still perfectly visible to the humans and others in the group.

The GIRLS are able to work the Electronic Menus with ease and find the variety on the menu to be far reaching. Almost any dish native to earth, and dozens more brought in from other dimensions, are there. True to their word, the staff leave the GIRLS alone except to deliver food, drinks and refills, responding with a practiced precision that the high elite are used to receiving from their staff. On a lark, the GIRLS can tell that the staff stays away from the tables unless asked to be there, and it seems like many other tables have similarly dressed women and men.

There is a certain degree of respect granted between the patrons, as no other patron's eyes linger outside their table for too long. As though they expect private discussions to be had and expect due privacy for their own.

Within minutes, the food the GIRLS order, and drinks are brought out and the GIRLS are enjoying lavish dining. Analoy is able to determine she can replicate some of it but there are certain ingredients and smells she isn't entirely familiar with so without the exact recipe, it'll be challenging. That being said, the food is still delicious and the staff is on hand with excellent music playing just loud enough to be heard but low enough that it is not bothersome.

Susan gets out of the limo after the woman she has been introduced to as Millicent. She is unaware of any reason to make an appearance when going into a restaurant. Instead, she walks inside, thanking the person holding the door and following the others to their table.

This is a nicer place than I thought I'd ever eat at in MercTown. How strange. I thought everything would be sepia toned and covered in dirt. This is hardly a hive of scum and villainy.

Examining the menu and keeping an eye on the room, she responds to Analoy, "Honestly, if you could replicate this, you should leave the team and open a restaurant. From what I understand, chefs are rarely shot at."

Susan pauses and then lets out a strained cackle. "Wine first, please!"

She orders the scallops to start, followed by the sweetbreads. "Did you know sweetbreads come from two organs in calves that disappear by the time they become adult cattle? It would be like aliens eating human wisdom teeth.

"And yes, Millie, I would love to share the other organs with you."

When her first glass of wine arrives, Susan downs it and signals for a second one.

She drains the new glass and orders a third. "Yes, obviously the spybot is spying on us. It can't be trusted and we have to assume that, from now on, any of our electronic equipment left in the hangar is compromised and that the hangar itself is compromised."

She looks at Millicent. "Unless you are from a different dimension with technology equivalent to the Naruni, I sincerely doubt that you will be able to disassemble or otherwise override the spybot without our employer knowing. That would be equivalent to Lucy claiming she can reprogram the communication of a god to its priests because she can do magic."

Conditions: Looking fabulous in her silver dress with her tinted goggles still on her forehead (and concealed and holstered inside her left leg, a Nuhr Rune Musket Pistol - let's all recall how the last outing went!)

Lucy gingerly clambers from the limo, allowing some gentleman or other to delicately provide support to her outstretched hand. Ah I see, this is what this impracticality is all about, she blushes a bit at the gentleman's smile and tries to not notice him ogling her chest.

Lucy glides to her table, trying to not noice the eyes being attracted to their entrance. She agrees with Milly that they should order the pan-fried foie gras, jerusalem artichoke cappuccino, pronounced "Foy-ee Grass", and eliciting the question "What's a jerusalem?" She also agrees with Susan's impulse to wine, pointing to the first one, the Marguet Père & Fils, Sapience Extra Brut Vintage 1er Cru, speculating that only in Merctown would one try to sell brut wine. "Such toxic masculinity," she clearly reasons.

As she sips her first glass, trying to look elegant and modeling what the groups two lookers, Amber and Jess, are doing with their pinkies, she listens to Susan, Milly, and Amber talk about Unit 8.

Amber Dach wrote:As they are being seated she has a quick word with Jez. Lucy huffs. "I done told that damn thing to stay by the door! Sounds like it ain't too good at following pretty simple orders. Probably not defective, but can't rule it out. The Naruni did say prototype, and if it's like some of the prototypes I've made in the past..."

Millicent Mayeux wrote:As Amber mentions her concerns about their guest, Milly agrees, with some confidence. ”It may be spying on us, but once I have a month or two with it… I will be able to tell you how it was made and what ever surprises it may be hiding from us. Either way, I cant wait to take that thing apart.”

"Agreed," she says through a bit of some food she cannot identify. "Though from what I've gathered what with the way y'all talk about these here Naruni, ol' Unit 8 might be a bit beyond my usual tech repertoire."

Susan Lee wrote:She drains the new glass and orders a third. "Yes, obviously the spybot is spying on us. It can't be trusted and we have to assume that, from now on, any of our electronic equipment left in the hangar is compromised and that the hangar itself is compromised."

She continues to chew, pondering at what this novel flavor is. "I'll have to get back to you about reprogramming the god-to-priest walkie-talkie. I mean, step one would be locating some implanted earpiece maybe?" She stops chewing, thinking momentarily, and then resumes chewing again. "Concerning whether anything is compromised, I guess we could do what Amber suggested back at the Hanger, and just ask it what it's tampered with. Maybe see if it's one of those truth-teller 'borgs?" She shrugs the way Amber shrugged. "Barring that, maybe I can cook up some kind of bug-detector? And I'm still thinking about ideas concerning some magitech team comms - assuming that's still a priority, Jess. They might be the kind of thing that Unit 8 can't access... unless its got some magitech in it..." she stops and thinking about Unit 8 some more. I don't recall seeing any gems stick'n out of it, but maybe they're on the *inside*. Her eyes narrow at this mini-non-revelation.

Once they do move on from Unit 8, she raises the question about tech priorities to the group via Jess. "So Jess, you being the boss here and all, I suppose it's up to you to tell me what to work on first. I know a couple of the GIRLS were looking to enhance their armor, but there was also some chat around about a backup magicomm system and Susan's magi-med kit. So you just let me know and I'll get to it!"

Megan slides out of the limo and instinctively takes a spot near the back of the group, conspicuously taking a look around, lines of fire, emergency exits, potential threats... (Detect Ambush 1d100 = 68/62%) She has to stop herself and try to let herself have some fun for a change. Fun. Megan thinks about the last time she had fun. It was the morning that Charlie was kidnapped. I was cooking pancakes for us when Charlie had snagged an already cooked one on the plate I was piling them on, and I swatted at his hand with the ladle I was using to scoop out batter, splashing some onto him. Everything quickly escalated to a food fight in the kitchen until Uncle Buck came to investigate what all the ruckus was about. Me and Charlie were deathly quiet, afraid of what Uncle Buck's punishment was going to be. He took one stern look around before quickly grabbing a handful of flour and tossed it at my face and the food fight started in full force again for the next five minutes. After we had settled down, I asked Uncle Buck why he didn't punish us and he said that the punishment was still going to happen, but he just wanted have a little fun with us before giving us the bad news that he was getting called into work a late shift tonight, which would mean we would have to skip our plans of going to the theater to watch a play.

The young Headhunter shakes the memory out of her head and decides she should act like she's having fun, and if somewhere along the way she actually does, then all the better. She puts a wry smile on her face and struts her way into Taste of the Town with the rest of the group, head held high and her breathing relaxed and natural. When she sees the menu, she is relieved to see that it is set up for those who are either illiterate or at the very least not literate in the local language. She slowly scrolls the menu and decides to try the dish with the bread and mushrooms (Sweetbread tempura, mushrooms risotto). When Susan mentions what sweetbreads are made from, Megan says "There are a bunch of foods that gross if you really knew how they were made, like cheese is really just a kind of moldy milk, and honey is simply bee vomit. Me, I prefer the phrase ignorance is bliss when it comes to food, so long as it as it is digestible by my body and does leave me feeling sick."

When the conversation turns to their unwanted acquisition, Megan calmly states "Of course we should think that it's spying on us, because sometimes the most dangerous weapon of all is information. Millie, even if you had all the time in the world to take it apart and had the ability to actually understand it, there is still the small problem of getting it taken apart. I highly doubt it would allow itself to be dismantled, which would mean that we would have to do to it what we did to the previous unit. Not sure how much you heard of what happened before it got into MercTown, but it was rough. Then again it was able to infiltrate us by means of deception, most of us were without armor when the attack happened. It was smart. It knew that if we were all fully armored and armed, it would stand no chance against all of us. It probably would have killed at least one of us. What it didn't have the ability to take into account was our bad ass fearless leader. Lucy, don't feel too bad about it not following your orders. We aren't the only ones who can give it orders. Remember our mysterious backer can give it orders that override what order we give it."

When Lucy mentions side projects, Megan reminds her "Don't forget about trying to recreate my Wild Weasel's ECM Jamming System."

ROLLS HELD

CONDITIONS: Still on boing-go.

Susan nods as Megan speaks, eating her appetizer as well as taking a portion of the shared appetizers and moving them around on her plate.

She adds, "A 'bug-detector' will help with the hangar, but we would need to have an extremely skilled hacker to detect whether actual devices were suborned. You don't need to 'bug' a device, simply reprogram it. It is undetectable externally."

To Jez, she says, "May I sample your meat, please? All the food seems exceptional."

She points at the restaurant's emenu. "For example, if that menu thing has a speaker, it could be turned into a microphone just with software changes. The issue with the spybot is what constitutes artificial intelligence. I had been studying this topic in preparation for being a good drone mommy and there are a number of levels of AI. It would be extremely difficult from an external standpoint to determine whether a robot were acting under its own sentience or simply following a complex program to pretend free will."

She pauses and downs her now fourth glass of wine. "Short of doing something obvious like killing its maker."

Susan then holds up her plate for everyone to see. It is a recreation of a sort of body, using the various organ meats that have arrived at the table and the scallops and donated beef and veal as muscles.

Analoy wrote:She looks to the other GIRLS as they look over the menu, "If you see something you like, let me know and maybe I can replicate it back at home."
Susan Lee wrote:Examining the menu and keeping an eye on the room, she responds to Analoy, "Honestly, if you could replicate this, you should leave the team and open a restaurant. From what I understand, chefs are rarely shot at."

The others having had the good sense to order wine, Jez makes sure that the wait staff recognize the need for each at the table to have a bottle of their own at the ready. With Susan's practical-minded reply to Annie's offer, Jez adds, "That's sensible thinking, Doc, but cooking isn't as exciting as fightin' an' dyin', is it, Annie?"
Susan Lee wrote:Susan pauses and then lets out a strained cackle. "Wine first, please!" She orders the scallops to start, followed by the sweetbreads. "Did you know sweetbreads come from two organs in calves that disappear by the time they become adult cattle? It would be like aliens eating human wisdom teeth. "And yes, Millie, I would love to share the other organs with you." When her first glass of wine arrives, Susan downs it and signals for a second one. She drains the new glass and orders a third.
Megan Price wrote:"There are a bunch of foods that gross if you really knew how they were made, like cheese is really just a kind of moldy milk, and honey is simply bee vomit. Me, I prefer the phrase ignorance is bliss when it comes to food, so long as it as it is digestible by my body and does leave me feeling sick."

Jez raises a glass in recognition of Megan's brief statement of wisdom. "Truer words, Meg," and lets her glass of red slide down her throat slowly and luxuriously.
Susan Lee wrote:To Jez, she says, "May I sample your meat, please? All the food seems exceptional."

Jez refills her glass and looks at Susan, "I was hoping you'd ask, cuz I'm plenty curious about everyone's dishes, but first..." Jez leans back, unsnaps the strap for the goggles around her face, and slides off her customary eyewear. Her brilliant ruby irises peek out at each of the GIRLS in turn. "It's an uncommon treat to see people on this world with my own eyes." She looks around at the lovely restaurant that's cordially lit and giving off a pleasantly warm ambiance. "It's truly lovely in here, and just look at all the beautiful, fancy people."
Susan Lee wrote:She pauses and downs her now fourth glass of wine. "Short of doing something obvious like killing its maker." Susan then holds up her plate for everyone to see. It is a recreation of a sort of body, using the various organ meats that have arrived at the table and the scallops and donated beef and veal as muscles.

Jez stabs one of the scallops with her fork and pops it in her mouth with lightning quickness. "Your body is missing a part," she says around a mouthful of buttery seafood.
Amber Dach wrote:As they are being seated she has a quick word with Jez.

Jez leans in very close to Amber and whispers in her ear. "I've been told in the past that you mind-benders can heal minds and memories as well as harm them. Is that true?" Jez's tone is very cautious, vulnerable, and serious.
Millicent Mayeux wrote:As Amber mentions her concerns about their guest, Milly agrees, with some confidence. ”It may be spying on us, but once I have a month or two with it… I will be able to tell you how it was made and what ever surprises it may be hiding from us. What we want to do with it however.” Milly lets the thought die in the air. ”If we are going to play nice with its maker then we should play nice with it. For now. Either way, I cant wait to take that thing apart.”
Susan Lee wrote:"Yes, obviously the spybot is spying on us. It can't be trusted and we have to assume that, from now on, any of our electronic equipment left in the hangar is compromised and that the hangar itself is compromised." She looks at Millicent.
Lucille Davis wrote:As she sips her first glass, trying to look elegant and modeling what the groups two lookers, Amber and Jess, are doing with their pinkies, she listens to Susan, Milly, and Amber talk about Unit 8. Lucy huffs. "I done told that damn thing to stay by the door! Sounds like it ain't too good at following pretty simple orders. Probably not defective, but can't rule it out. The Naruni did say prototype, and if it's like some of the prototypes I've made in the past. Agreed, though from what I've gathered what with the way y'all talk about these here Naruni, ol' Unit 8 might be a bit beyond my usual tech repertoire."

Jez sets her glass down with authoritative flair. "The android is not to be trusted, but neither is it to be molested. We will operate on the assumption that it is a hostile operative. That means systematically sweeping our gear for eavesdropping devices before we take them into the field. If either of you," Jez looks to Milly and Lucy specifically, "suspect some software, get my help. I'm no slouch in cyberjacking. It's a fundamental skill most special operators are taught in the A.D.F."
Millicent Mayeux wrote:The Operator is silent as she follows Jezebel and the others into the restaurant and is escorted to their table. ”This reminds me of some of the restaurants in Quebec I was told about…” The awe in Millicent's voice is apparent. ”This place is magnifique!” Millicent’s French accent bleeds through as he excitement for the restaurant continues to build. Then she sees the drink menu. ”oh! This is a place where you get to taste the wine until you find one you like!”

Jez sits back and smiles at Milly's excitement, enjoying the wine with her meal as she takes in the table of women all exchanging ideas. It wasn't so long ago that I was in her shoes. Desperate, hurting, and basically alone on this hostile planet. No one's ever really stuck around to become more than a passing friend, but after the last couple years I've grown accustomed to it. I hope these girls don't have to. Maybe we can make this unit something that will outlast me. A family that persists even after I've found my way home.
Lucille Davis wrote:"Barring that, maybe I can cook up some kind of bug-detector? And I'm still thinking about ideas concerning some magitech team comms - assuming that's still a priority, Jess. They might be the kind of thing that Unit 8 can't access... unless its got some magitech in it." she stops and thinking about Unit 8 some more.

"Lucy, it's 'Jez,' with a hard 'Z' sound, short for Jezebel." She wrinkles her nose at the woman's mispronunciation. I wouldn't have even noticed a year ago. My American has gotten pretty decent. I'm even beginning to think in this alien tongue. "You and Milly get the comms sitch squared away before anything else. Bad comms very nearly cost some of us our lives earlier today. That's unacceptable and preventable with some forethought. Let's get that done first, then get that cannon rigged up to your beast, Lucy. After that, your discretion, ladies. But I wouldn't worry about inventing a bug-sweeper, I'm sure I can go buy one in town."
Susan Lee wrote:She adds, "A 'bug-detector' will help with the hangar, but we would need to have an extremely skilled hacker to detect whether actual devices were suborned. You don't need to 'bug' a device, simply reprogram it. It is undetectable externally."

Jez winks at Susan's mention of a 'very skilled hacker,' her red eyes batting playfully and mischievously at the doc.

Either way, I cant wait to take that thing apart.”

Amber sips on her wine thoughtfully. Better keep this to a glass or two at the most, no one likes a drunk psychic. As the thoughts around the table turn to not trusting Unit 8, Amber pipes up, “I agree with not trusting it. I think leaving it alone other than observing it would be the best way to go. Knowledge is power after all. I don’t think our new ‘employer’ will play nice if you go pulling it apart. You saw the end result of what he did with the last folks that crossed him and stole something of his. I reckon he would do the same if you start thinking with his toy.”

Megan Price wrote:When the conversation turns to their unwanted acquisition, Megan calmly states "Of course we should think that it's spying on us, because sometimes the most dangerous weapon of all is information.

After Megan has spoken Amber says, “Can we at least track the thing while it is in the hangar at least. Put a tracker or something on it so we know where it has been or what it has been into?”

If you want to discuss this more after in a more discreet location, let me know.” Amber gives Jez a reassuring look to convey that she is open to talking more about this.

Being in such a glamorous restaurant for the first time in a long long time brings Amber to think less about the situation they find themselves in at the moment and more about enjoying herself. “I don’t know about the rest of you GIRLS, but I have had enough shop talk for the night, we can figure that out tomorrow. We should use this night as an opportunity to get to know each other better, if we are going to be working together.”

I guess I should get the ball rolling here and get to know everyone better. This place is too nice to just talk shop! She sighs softly. What can I tell them about myself? I can’t tell them about where I grew up, I also can’t tell them where I trained my psychic abilities either. Be vague on those details, but truthful as you can with everything else. Amber takes a sip of her wine to wet her lips before speaking to the table. “It has been an interesting day to say the least. To those of you I haven’t been formally introduced to, I’m Amber Dach. I am a psychic.” She smiles, “Don’t worry, your thoughts are your own, but if you hear my voice talking in your head, it is real and well-intentioned.”

Amber shrugs and gives a small laugh. “I don’t know what else to tell you about myself.” Amber pauses as she considers what to say next. “My people are warriors mostly that have dedicated themselves to fighting against the evils roaming the Multiverse. I am taking a different road than majority of them, most of them use magic, where I use my…” She taps her forehead. “My goals are the same though, fighting the evils that I can and pushing the darkness back."

Amber continues, “I’ve only been in town a few days and don’t have any experience as a ‘Merc. After I completed my training, I spent time fighting necromancers not too far from here until recently. It is vital and important work that the people I was with are doing, but didn’t seem like where I should be. So, I came here and hope to find what I should be doing. Whether that journey keeps me here or takes me elsewhere I don’t know.”

Jez's eyes narrow slightly out of instinct, her prejudice against mind-benders deep-seated, and understandable given her own people's history with them. She willfully does her best to "lower her weapons" around Amber though. She's proven herself, at least in the short term. I gotta give her the credit she's due. Jez remarks in reply, "My people generally don't take kindly to mind-benders as they've been a more constant threat than even the brush-heads, but Amber's proven herself an invaluable teammate today; it's why I asked her on."

I didn't really appreciate just how many different kinds of people there were, Arismal-looking people that is, until only just recently as my breadth of exposure has grown." Jez slugs back a glass of wine with the casual ease of a woman who knows it can't get her drunk.

"Speaking of Milly, what about you, hon? What's your story? What brought you to that dive where Iblis placed you at just the right time?" Jez smiles, pleased at the thought that she might be putting the woman on the spot. A little discomfort now and then builds up your grit, girl; makes you tough. I bet you've already had your fair share and then some, but let's see what gets under your skin. Her red eyes flash mischievously at Millicent.

Amber gives her a reassuring pat on the hand and mouths the words, “We’ll talk later.”

Jezebel wrote: Jez, ignorant of Amber's distinction from the humans at the table, quips, "A culture of warriors then? Well that's interesting, I guess. There many of these cultures on this world? Even after a couple years here, I'm still learning."

Amber replies with a shrug.“I honestly don't know Jez. I've only been here a few years myself. My people originated here but have only returned after the coming of magic. Many, many years ago we ventured forth from Earth and now call the universe home.” Amber’s voice fills with pride as she says, “My people do have a proud and noble warrior culture. Our clan is known and renowned across the Multiverse for fighting the forces of evil, demons in particular. My clan, my family, have battled demon hordes across a dozen worlds. We try to oppose evil wherever we can.” She closes her eyes a moment and reminisces about the stories she heard around the campfires as a little girl. It brings back fond memories of home and her connection to her people and their noble heritage. “It is a heavy burden and legacy to live up to. I hope I can live up to it.” She trails off softly. Amber feels self-conscious and thinks she feels the eyes of everyone staring at her, believing she has given everyone a glimpse into her self doubt. Can I really live up to my clan’s reputation of service before self? Not now, meditate on it later.

“Yes, please tell us your story, Milly. How did you end up here?” Amber adds as she smiles encouragingly.

Analoy looks like she's playing with her food. Taking small bites here and there. Poking the more elaborate dishes apart to see how they're constructed. Sipping slowly at her glass of wine. After what acting like a three year old that doesn't like what was set down in front of her, Analoy looks up at the others and smiles, "This is all marvelously prepared. I can replicate some of it but there is a lot here made from ingredients the I am unfamiliar with." After this initial appraisal, she seems to switch to consumer mode and starts eating randomly from the dishes in front of her.

Doc wrote:"Honestly, if you could replicate this, you should leave the team and open a restaurant. From what I understand, chefs are rarely shot at."

Best to lay off some of the details like our new Atlantean psychic, but I could give a brief history for the new GIRLS. Analoy cuts a smile over to the Doc and says, "I guess that depends on just how good a cook you are. Besides, I wanna get out and see the world. Meet new and interesting people and all that." She looks over to the mechanics of the team and waves her glass at them, "To tell you the truth, I can't wait to use your talents. Because of my abilities, until recently, I've been a gear light kinda girl. After all these years, its kinda weird being able to cover up again."

Analoy listens as Amber tells her story, then says rather bluntly, "My parents died when I was little but I believe you and the man that raised me have a lot in common. Though he focused on the evil that lies off the east coast. He's the one the is responsible for some of my tattoos. I worked with him for several years before I came here to make my own mark on the world. The easiest way to sum me up is just to say I'm a fighter, though telling people I'm the team cook works too. Not only am I but people are less apt to think that the little five foot tall girl can tear them in half." She gives them all a big smile as she leaves them wondering if she was just speaking figuratively.

"Being a chef is a wonderful cover identity that can be utilized to sneak yourself into a fortified enemy space. And it sounds we have somewhat similar stories, except that last I had heard, my parents weren't dead, just being held prisoner on a CS Prison Farm somewhere. I was about 11 or 12 when they had been detained. When that happened, my uncle came and took in me and my brother. We'd been living a good life until a couple of years ago my brother was kidnapped. It was at that point that I decided to learn all that I could from my uncle about being a Headhunter. I was working with some explosives and let myself get into a hurry, because the next thing I realize was that I'm being wheeled into a hospital for emergency surgery because the explosives I was working with had detonated, taking my left arm, eye, and my hearing. Now I'm trying to gather intel about where the CS Prison Farm is and what's located there, but after I get that intel, I'd like to ask you all in helping me free my parents. I wouldn't expect you to do this for free, nor do I have the funds on hand to outright pay for everyone's services, but what I had been thinking was when we go do this, we also steal some military hardware, specifically at least on of their robot combat vehicles and if one of us can manage to pilot it, an APC." Megan says, now nervous that has officially stated she wanted their help in conducting a raid against the Coalition.

Megan looks to Millie and says "Where are my manners. I didn't mean to interrupt you. Go ahead."

Re: Taste of the Town (25)

Perception: 1d100 = 27 / 28% (+15% for magic or machines)
JiC d20/d100: 1d20 = 10 / 1d100 = 27

Conditions: Continuing to look fabulous in her silver dress

Lucy observes Susan down glass after glass of tasty tasty brut wine and decides maybe she's doing it wrong. Ok, down the hatch she thinks, eyeing her glass and the tipping up to her lips.

Jezebel wrote:"Lucy, it's 'Jez,' with a hard 'Z' sound, short for Jezebel." She wrinkles her nose at the woman's mispronunciation.

Lucy is internally mortified. Afar mausan moavhas, have I been mispronouncing the boss's name this whole time?! She swallows vocally. "Sorry Jezzzzzz" she says hanging on the 'z'. "And aye aye about the comms - I'll get to working on some schematics ASAP when we're back at the Hanger."

While Amber gets the ball rolling on GIRLS introductions, Lucy feels the wine and good food kick in. Hrm.[i] Lucy thinks, her head swimming just a bit from the previous glass or so of wine. [i]Maybe just taking a sip at a time like Amber. Yeah, that's probably smarter.

To Amber's story: "Oh, fighting necromancers sounds so... exciting! Proud noble warriors indeed!"

To Analoy: "Yes ma'am! Us short gals got to stick together with all these tall bombshells around."

To Megan: Lucy takes slow sad sips of her wine. "Wow. Brutal." When she finishes by turning back to Millie, Lucy just starts talking to break the awkward silence.

"Oh, my turn maybe Millie? Well... I guess there's not much to tell. Let's see, grew up in Ishpeming - I was daddy's little girl." She giggles thinking of him. "Always been a bit of a tinkerer. Fell hard in love with magic early on - I mean, no offense" she turns to Millie "but machines without magic just lack soul, ya know?" Ouch, hope that wasn't too pointed... "Hrm, worst moment aside from having to leave home? Well nothing all that bad like some of y'all, but it totally sucked when the Coalition bombed my place outside Stormspire. Luckily I was working late on a prototype for a new storm rifle during the raid. Now that baby could launch lightning over 600 meters and fry a hole through..." Lucy stops herself. "Right, not important. You get the idea. But yeah, rather boring really. Just been under the hood of battle skimmers until the demons showed up." She pauses. "Yeah, that sucked too. Anyways. Then I decided it was time for a change of scenery. You know, hit the road, try something new. That's around when I heard about MercTown and thought, might as well give her a buzz. Like Amber, I've only been in MercTown for a few days. And boy!" She exclaims a bit louder than intended, "It's been quite the adventure so far!"

Perception vs 56%:1d100 = 46
JIC:1d20 = 5|1d100 = 13

Millicent agrees heartely when Susan emphasis wine first. ”Please!”
Susan Lee wrote:She looks at Millicent.

”That is why I suggested we decide on how we play this before I start playing. Some super intelligent alien would either be very angry we tampered with their toy. Or, it expects us to.” Millicent shrugs slightly. Decisions ultimately above my pay grade.
Lucille Davis wrote:"Agreed," she says through a bit of some food she cannot identify. "Though from what I've gathered what with the way y'all talk about these here Naruni, ol' Unit 8 might be a bit beyond my usual tech repertoire."

”But wouldn’t it be fun to see whats under the hood? I said it before, the chance to have access to a bunch of crazy Naruni tech is a big plus in the whole arrangement.” Millicent will test the wine in her glass and a take a moment form reality to enjoy its aromas.
Jezebel wrote:Jez sets her glass down with authoritative flair.

Millicent nods, still sniffing her wine. That answers that.
Jezebel wrote:"Speaking of Milly, what about you, hon? What's your story? What brought you to that dive where Iblis placed you at just the right time?" Jez smiles, pleased at the thought that she might be putting the woman on the spot. A little discomfort now and then builds up your grit, girl; makes you tough. I bet you've already had your fair share and then some, but let's see what gets under your skin. Her red eyes flash mischievously at Millicent.

Amber Dach wrote:“Yes, please tell us your story, Milly. How did you end up here?” Amber adds as she smiles encouragingly.

Megan Price wrote:Megan looks to Millie and says "Where are my manners. I didn't mean to interrupt you. Go ahead."

Millcient snaps out of her wine enhanced fugue. Oh yeah. You are here. Not alone. ”Oh, please do not worry, Megan. Your story is so tragic. If I can help in your search, I will.”

Lucille Davis wrote:"Oh, my turn maybe Millie? Well... I guess there's not much to tell. Let's see, grew up in Ishpeming - I was daddy's little girl." She giggles thinking of him. ”Ishpeming! Where did you grow up? I spent most of my life in the colloseums shadow!” Milly grows excited to know another person from up north is here. ”I spent the first few years in Quebec, but most of my time has been in Ishpeming!” Millicent smiles. ”Small World".
”Me? Oh. More. My turn.” She sips her wine for the first time. That’s good. ”I have had a contract with the city for the past few weeks- renovating some of the heavy rigs around the town. Unfortunatly today was the last day on the contract, and the shutdown led my future prospects up in the air. Until you stormed in. I have to say I am enjoying drinking here a little more than there.” She pauses. They probably want me. ”Before that? I fought the Bugs for the NGR with a forward relief unit for a few years, and was actually able to work in the Gladiator pits for a bit before that. Lots of work with Bots and on Bots. Some combat, not much.” Millicent’s flow begins to get choppy the long she talks, short sentences stepping over each other; it becomes apparent her mouth cannot quite keep up with her brain.

Analoy wrote:Analoy listens as Amber tells her story, then says rather bluntly, "My parents died when I was little but I believe you and the man that raised me have a lot in common. Though he focused on the evil that lies off the east coast. He's the one the is responsible for some of my tattoos. I worked with him for several years before I came here to make my own mark on the world. The easiest way to sum me up is just to say I'm a fighter, though telling people I'm the team cook works too. Not only am I but people are less apt to think that the little five-foot-tall girl can tear them in half." She gives them all a big smile as she leaves them wondering if she was just speaking figuratively.

Amber ponders briefly as she hears Analoy talk about the man raised her. “That sounds like something one of my people would do. I’m not saying there aren’t some bad ones too, but for the most part my people try to right thing whenever possible.” I wonder if he was a Tattoo Master? I wouldn’t mind adding a couple more tattoos if she knows where he is or if she knows someone else that can. She nods in agreement having seen what an Undead Hunter and Tattooed Man is capable of on the field of battle.

Megan Price wrote:"Despite all outward appearances of looking like a normal, if not rather tall, human, I'm guessing you obviously are not if you are referring to your people as warriors. Tall and human looking, I would have to venture that you are an Atlantean.”

She nods an affirmation, “Yes, you are correct. I am an Atlantean.” She pauses to allow anyone who recognizes her race to get over the shock of this announcement. (Awe Factor: 12; Humans tend to be awestruck when they realize they stand with or against a True Atlantean)She smiles to break any tension her announcement may have caused. “Don’t believe all the stories about us. Some, but not all.” Her demeanour turns more sober. “On a more serious note, I would rather "that be kept away from our new employer. Some like the Naruni don’t appreciate our involvement in the betterment of the universe.”

Megan Price wrote:"Being a chef is a wonderful cover identity that can be utilized to sneak yourself into a fortified enemy space.

Amber thinks a minute, “I would have to know more before I agree to anything. I apologize in advance if this sounds callous, but as much as I dislike the Coalition, they do have a right to adjudicate justice in their territory. I would want proof that of their innocence of any crimes before agreeing to do anything. I don’t doubt that you believe that they are innocent of whatever crimes they have been convicted of, but sometimes family loyalty can be blinded to the truth. So, bring me proof first.” Way to make new friends Amber! Accuse her parents of being criminals. “I’ve been hearing stories that CS Troops are being more pragmatic in the field when it comes to attacking D-Bees, magic users and psychics to face the common threat to this world from the Demons popping up everywhere. I would rather not give them more cause to hate by killing a bunch of them, for I check every box they have to be a threat. They can still be nasty customers, so I would rather not have them add me to their enemy list without good cause.”

Lucille Davis wrote:”Oh, my turn maybe Millie? Well... I guess there's not much to tell. Let's see, grew up in Ishpeming - I was daddy's little girl." She giggles thinking of him. “Wow! You have survived a bombing run and a Demon attack. I’ll have to keep you close to me in the future since you seem to be a lucky girl, Lucy!” Amber gives her teasing, playful wink. “I hope you can bottle some of that luck and pour some on my gear when you work on it.”

Millicent Mayeux wrote: ”Me? Oh. More. My turn.” She sips her wine for the first time. That’s good. ”I have had a contract with the city for the past few weeks- renovating some of the heavy rigs around the town. Amber’s eyebrows pop up a bit. “Oh, you have been to the NGR? I’m not that well-versed in tech, but I love their weapons.” She says as she pats her bag. “So how was it there? Were you there recently? I’ve heard faint rumours that they are finally pushing back the gargoyles and brodkil.”

Once everyone else has spoken about their stories, Amber turns to Susan. "How about you Susan? What's your story? You are a doctor I know, where did you train?"

Once Susan finishes her story she turns to Jez and grins. "And saving the best for last... what about you Jez? You mentioned that you are an Arismal earlier. Where are you from exactly? Tell me of your world and people."

Analoy leans over to Megan after Amber speaks and whispers, "I got you. Family is family." He voice raises up as she straightens up, "Besides, If we do it right we can get in and out before anyone knows we're there." I bet Amber's never had to make a hard call. There's a lot of gray out there. Killing someone in a slave fight so you can maintain your cover isn't fair to the dead but if life were fair, they wouldn't have been a slave to begin with.

She eats a bit more of the food, seemingly unconcerned as she samples as much as she can, trying to get an idea of the tastes and textures of each of the dishes. After a moment she looks up at everyone and says, "This is going to be exciting. I'm glad I made it back from the caves."

Amber Dach wrote:"I honestly don't know Jez. I've only been here a few years myself. My people originated here but have only returned after the coming of magic. Many, many years ago we ventured forth from Earth and now call the universe home. My people do have a proud and noble warrior culture. Our clan is known and renowned across the Multiverse for fighting the forces of evil, demons in particular. My clan, my family, have battled demon hordes across a dozen worlds. We try to oppose evil wherever we can. It is a heavy burden and legacy to live up to. I hope I can live up to it."

Jez tries to recall her "propriety & customs" training from her academy days as she consumes her meal over the course of the many conversations being exchanged at the table. Remember, girl, this isn't a functional meal; it's an aesthetic meal meant to be enjoyed. Eat slowly and try to apply that silly training from our dead world. Jez pauses eating long enough to chirp in, "I'm afraid I'm still not very familiar with the peoples of this crazy world even after two years. Which 'people' are those, Amber?"
Analoy wrote:"My parents died when I was little but I believe you and the man that raised me have a lot in common. Though he focused on the evil that lies off the east coast. Not only am I but people are less apt to think that the little five foot tall girl can tear them in half."

Jez smiles at Analoy and, when the opportunity presents itself to chime in, adds, "I'm now familiar with being underestimating based on my looks. This is one characteristic not common to my own people. We tended to prejudge and underestimate people based on geno-socio class back when we could afford such luxuries."
Megan Price wrote:"...it sounds we have somewhat similar stories, except that last I had heard, my parents weren't dead, just being held prisoner on a CS Prison Farm somewhere. Jez's countenance hardens at this speech. Tough choices, cookie. You want home? Can't afford to take up every noble sounding cause or injustice you run across. "We're not a group of bandits or freedom fighters. Find a sponsor willing to contract that, and I'll weigh it honestly as an option."
Lucille Davis wrote:"Sorry Jezzzzzz, and aye aye about the comms. I'll get to working on some schematics ASAP when we're back at the Hanger."

Jez winks at Lucy from across the table, taking the sting out of the correction. "Pass me that bottle, will ya Lucy? I've not tried a 'blonde' wine before."

"Bugs? NGR? Tangarat be at peace, there's just so much of this world of which I'm ignorant. I wish this world had a satellite network so I could learn more about this world more easily." Jez complains in mild exasperation as she refills her wine glass for the third (Fourth? Fifth?) time.
Amber Dach wrote:"Yes, you are correct. I am an Atlantean. She pauses to allow anyone who recognizes her race to get over the shock of this announcement. "Don’t believe all the stories about us. Amber Dach wrote:Once Susan finishes her story she turns to Jez and grins. "And saving the best for last... what about you Jez? You mentioned that you are an Arismal earlier. Where are you from exactly? Tell me of your world and people."

Jez's mirth and congeniality fails her a bit. Her smile falters. She forgets her pleasant company and for a moment is looking upon the faces of a bunch of merciless Atorian inquisitors. A snarl unconsciously creeps to her lips and her hands begin to glow. The moment passes and she's once again surrounded by friends and new teammates. That's a couple years passed now, bitch. Get a frakkin' grip on yourself. She releases her growing grip on her inner power and allows her glowing fists to fade to normal. She sets her empty wine glass down, puts her hands in her lap, straightens her posture, and takes a few deep breaths to center herself. She refills her wine in the silence which no doubt followed her nonverbal "outburst," takes a sip, and begins. "It's taken me a couple years to piece together what I think might be the truth of my situation and how I came to be here." She takes her first sip. "I'm not sure if I'm from this dimension or, if I am, if I'm from this time. One thing I know for sure is that spatially I'm not from this neighborhood. My people come from the Arismal system, named for the third planet of the six-planet system located in a spiral arm rimward of the galactic core. Our world was destroyed. What was left of our species was the military fleet and a few commercial vessels. We went from burgeoning spacefaring civilization to an endangered species of refugees overnight. Anyway, long story short, my unit was attempting to reconnoiter an imperial starship that was mind-bogglingly huge when we were detected and overcome by the ship's defensive systems and personnel. I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my unit, but I was tortured, interrogated, sedated, had my DNA and all kinds of stuff extracted from my body by the brush-heads, and after I acclimated to the drugs I managed to escape confinement, stalk my way to the ship's hangar bay, commandeered a cyber-fighter, and escaped the ship. Sadly, no way to sneak in a cyber-fighter like that, so I was pursued by aerospace fighters, spotted some sort of bluish anomaly in space, veered towards it, evaded some energy weapons fire, there was a flash like I was in an explosion or something, but the ship was fine...and then I'm looking at this blue planet growing very quickly across the cyber-fighter's viewscreen. The frakking controls won't respond, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna burn to death in the atmosphere given the approach vector and speed I'm at...then the fighter starts taking shots from outta nowhere. To this day I don't know what the frak was firing on my craft, but it likely saved my life. The fighter took damage, lost velocity, hit atmo at a different angle, and I lost consciousness once it started spinning like crazy. Woke up in a swamp really far South of here." Jez finishes the rest of her wine in a gulp. Her eyes had lost focus and had not connected with anyone else's since she began. "Ended up here about two years ago. Been trying to find my way home ever since." She pauses to refill her glass again and raises her glass in a formal toast. "To old friends and homes lost, and to new friends and homes gained."

Analoy wrote:[rolls held] Analoy leans over to Megan after Amber speaks and whispers, "I got you.

Amber holds up her hands. "Hey, I'm not ruling anything out. I would be more open to it if we could get in and out with being seen, that would be great. But the other half of the plan Megan floated was to make off with some hardware and they wouldn't just let us walk out with that stuff without a fight." Amber shrugs. "Do some more digging. If you find out more, convince me."

Perception: 1d100 = 2 / 38%
JiC d20/d100: 1d20 = 8 / 1d100 = 2

CONDITIONS: Still on boing-go

Susan listens to the ongoing conversations, half of which she launched, wrapped in the glow of the four glasses of wine she's already downed. Is the Commander hitting on me? That's contrary to unit structure... no, wait, every show says that's what they do. Ugh.

After Jez takes the scallop, she says, "Ultimately, every meal that contains meat destroys a body. Don't tell the chef about this, considering Analoy, he or she or it would come out to roast me."

When Megan gives her speech, Susan reaches out and takes her hand. "I don't know about your parents, but I'm sure we will do what we can. The CS are terrible."

She pauses. "In the meantime, are you... aware... that non-cybernetic options exist to help your injuries?"

Susan starts to say, "I'm a doctor, I'm from Lazlo, I'm here to help..."

And then Amber describes herself and Susan is stunned. Everyone else gives their backstory like Susan imagined it from the trids. It's all ridiculous and flat and too much all at once and right.

ATLANTEAN PSYCHIC Excellent DNA, she thinks under the combat drugs.

"As the Commander said, To old friends and homes lost, and to new friends and homes gained."
It's DNA, all the way down./Ledger

Jezebel wrote: "Ahh, you're an Atlantean." Jez looks from woman to woman. "I'm sorry, dumb alien broad moment. Is that supposed to mean something to me?" Jez flashes a mischievous smile.

“Where to start?” Amber grins. “I’ll try to keep this short.” Okay, now to remember the stories you were told growing up. “My people were originally inhabitants of Earth centuries ago. Our homeland was as Analoy said, to the East of here on Atlantis. We were very advanced in science, technology and knowledge compared to the rest of the world at this time. New technologies such as Techno-wizardry for instance was invented at this time.” She looks at Lucy as she points this last fact out. “They were harnessing the power of the ley lines surrounding the world and used it to open gateways to other worlds and travelled out among the stars. Alliances were made and knowledge exchanged with other civilizations.” She pauses for a second to collect her thoughts. “Unfortunately, these gateways that were opened also attracted supernatural beings who were attracted to the ripples they sent out among the Megaverse. We first encountered the Splugorth and other dimensional raiders as a result. Several wars were fought, which we won at great cost.”

Now this bit of our story I know. It has been drilled into our heads since we were children to avoid it happening again. She closes her eyes briefly and sighs. It is too shameful to tell the entire truth of how this all happened even after all this time. She takes a deep breath before continuing. “Then there was an... accident. Something happened and a colossal rift tore open the fabric of space and time above the skies of Atlantis and stretched halfway across the world. The whole planet was devastated by the rift and there were portals that were opened to hundreds of worlds releasing monsters in their wake, including our mortal enemies vampires. Our techs and mages managed to close the rift somehow but there were repercussions happening. Time shifts and dimensional anomalies. The whole island of Atlantis was shifting in out of reality until it disappeared into another dimension. Many of our people scattered across the Megaverse and started new lives there. Others stayed on Earth and fought the monsters that had been released and became the sources of many rumours and legends.”

“The vampires, that is where our warrior heritage came to be. There are tales told on a hundred worlds about our crusades against the vampires. It must be 14 or 15 generations now combating them. We encountered them out there somewhere and they attacked us. They have become our eternal enemies ever since. If you don’t know what vampires are, I can provide some more information on them later. Every Atlantean learns how to combat them as part of our education.” She looks into Jez’s eyes. “Most True Atlanteans, myself included, consider the undead and demonkind, to be our mortal enemies and will destroy them whenever they are encountered. I tell you this to be upfront. If we encounter any of them in our travels together, it is my obligation to attempt to destroy them if at all possible. They are threat to everyone and must be destroyed without hesitation.”

Jezebel wrote:Jez's mirth and congeniality fails her a bit.

Amber thinks as she sits in stunned silence for a few moments and digests what she has just heard. Wow, that is quite the story Have I ever heard of Arismal before? It might be possible to get her home depending on where it is. And if I had access to a pyramid too. Another thought crosses her mind too. Our conversation earlier makes sense now. She wants to know what her captors did to her. Amber raises her glass to toast as well, "To old friends and homes lost, and to new friends and homes gained."

Amber attempts to enjoy the rest of the evening, making conversation with those around. She hopes that she hasn't alienated anyone with her comments about Megan's family as she chats. She continues to sip slowly on her wine during dinner before switching to a sparkling water as the evening moves along. With the evening winding down, Amber joins everyone for the limousine ride back to the Hangar and heads to her room and undresses after the evening out. She meditates briefly before quickly falling into a sound sleep.
