This is my favorite RFM!
My thoughts:
- consistency is key (once a week is my minimum)
- each adventure (not each POST) has a "star", the character who's background I focus on. Maybe two characters. I found it too hard to do anything meaningful by spreading the love around. I still include nods and hooks from the backgrounds of every character in every post. Or almost every post. I. Hope this will encourage people to stick with it.
- in addition to the requirements of the AGM, I have asked Captain Marks to do things like come up with npc stats, find rules, and similar things that require a mindset radically different from mine.
- I have become enamored with using the google maps thanks to CSHC. I don't know all the tricks yet, but it was so much easier to track a fight with 15 or so participants.
- I encourage use of skills all the time. It is one of the fundamental parts of a character, so people should use it! Amen to explaining skill rolls. Not that I'm good at this all the time as a player...
- I am in the loose structure winging it camp for plotting adventures. I think there's a goal or a spine things all I hang from, but not scene goals planned ahead so much. I love including random details that will only be important if the players go for it. And, yeah, the pcs have lots of good ideas to crib from.
- blow by blow vs summary style combat. I like to do summaries.
A hard, cynical act for a hard, cynical world. - Tex Richman

  • Things players wish their GMs would do more.
  • How to combat that most dreaded of foes: BURN OUT... (not just GM but player as well)

Lloyd mentioned he'd love to get some new blood in on the conversation. It's worth mentioning that you don't need to be a Patron to participate. If so I'd have been tossed out a while ago. You just need a mic (from 5-15 bucks at most stores, though there are benefits to the more expensive ones) or webcam, a stable internet connection, an hour or two, and be willing to talk. The format is usually audio only, though Augur and Servo will both sometimes pull up their webcams. Only audio is recorded, regardless.

A tip: Mute when you aren't speaking is a good thing. It allows you to do things like cough without overloading the recording software and the show itself. But half the fun is the laughter from the rest of us when you mention something funny. So keep a balance! Also, no squeaky chairs if your name is Ben. :P Nah, just picking on Ben a little.

In honor of the coming Thanksgiving holiday, and how that holiday is generally spent sitting around tables gabbing with friends and relatives, RFM#13 will be wholly unscripted/no planned topics. Think of it as an open mic for anyone who'd like to chat around the EU dinner/gaming table. I'll likely be having a few cocktails or beers during recording, and encourage anyone who wishes to join to do the same.

The bank will be providing modest EP rewards for those who join us for a night of open discussion.

I enjoyed the episode. Gotta say it's a bit strange listening to other people discuss a character you've made. Also congrats on 35 supporters.

What can I say? I like that "Highlander-meets-Indiana-Jones" vibe John's got going. :)

Glad you enjoyed the episode!

Ned: I thought it was funny when you guys talked about a Rogue Scholar in the group because I have some regrets with John, there was a lot of pressure on me from the approving admin on what choices to make. If I had it all to do over again I'd dump the psionics power for magic using artifact hunter as the magic class and then pick Rogue Scholar as my OCC.

Augur & Tiree: I found this link on setting up podcast distribution http://www.podcast411.com/howto_1.html Seems like once the RSS is set up you can submit the feed to multiple sites, not just iTunes, for listing.

With the current group shake ups, it might be interesting to discuss entering a new group with an existing character.

Also, I think some Epic promoton would be good as well.

-I know we have done group spotlights, how about character spotlights. Have a player come on and discuss one of his characters. You could start it off with Jezebel. Preferably an older character like 6th level and above.

To tag off on that, and I can't remember if I've suggested it before -- and I'm too lazy to scroll up and look -- but if we could get a decent-sized group together it might be fun to hear each of them talk about a single retired character of theirs that they'd like to bring back from 'beyond' and why (unfinished business, had to retire because of RL complications, good concept but wrong fit for group, etc.).

Other ideas could be...
- Favorite "I can't believe that worked" moments
- Favorite (or not so much) gaming tropes from gaming in general (and EU in particular)
- Spotlight/review of certain world books/sourcebooks: what we like/don't like about setting, gear, vehicles, etc. contained within.

And if you're patiently (or even not-so-patiently) waiting for this, blame the delay on me. my window for recording this was this past weekend, and I wasn't able to get it completed until late last night. Even then, the part of Crystal may need to be re-recorded by someone a bit more... female... than myself. From now on I'll only stick to voicing females the same way that John Cleese and Graham Chapman did. The voice of Vaenrynth, however, I'm rather pleased with. :)

I think you should have a vote after each RFM to hand out EP to the crew! Something like the 0-4 Range, voted like each group does for GMs, except all the patrons vote.

Or should I suggest this in the EP forum?
Of all the things encountered in the Megaverse, the most vile and evil are not the demons, or Alien Intelligences. No, even the Old Ones pale in vileness to the Human Tyrant King. For, only he treats his own kind, every day of his life, with the kind of careless attitude the Old Ones treated the so-called lesser races.

I disagree - I think it should be Augur decided on a per show basis. Maybe 1 per year to a Patron vote on which show was their favorite. With that, those who participated would share in the reward.

Oh, now I like the idea of a "best of the past year" vote.

Or if you're feeling super-masochistic, open up the voting to favorite show segments of the past year and put them together for a 'best of' show.

The best of the year is a pretty good idea, but if it's only once a year the winning month should get like 10-15 per crew and the runner-up gets like half that.

If you are worried about diluting the EP currency, I'd like to point out that in Feb 2017 alone, over 200 EP were spent. More than was generated via quad rewards. In economics this would be a 'giant sucking sound' as money demand far exceeds supply.

If the prices on the menu actually changed in response to supply/demand, this would mean that EU is experiencing deflation...the warm dream of all who earn and save their currency. That is quite a sum though. Over 200? Wow. The velocity of the money is way higher than I anticipated.

I honestly don't think I'd be able to join on Sunday during the day, but if it was to start like around 6-7pm I may could make it. Lot of family stuff this weekend.

What does Sunday Morning mean exactly, your in Central Time? Which could work, since I'd need to be done by 9:30 Pacific.

The Augurous One usually goes by Central Time... so that'd be 11:30 Central.

I swear it said morning at one point. Maybe the bus was too bouncy, or maybe the person next to me was cute and distracting, either way, whoops. Evening is better, after 4:15 Pacific would be best.

April Fool's!

You are a monster.

RFM #17--sorry it came out just a tad late, folks, but on the good side, I learned a way clean up some of the audio quality, so it should sound even better than normal.

I very much liked the use of the Radio Broadcast #17 to touch upon the EPIC.

A Top 10 things to know would be swell. Below are some primers I spent some time thinking up to help lubricate the gerbils wheel.

:How long is the Epic slated to last? Absolutely ONE quad or additional quads based on pacing? As well, If a group is able to sustain a faster post rate than other groups will their GM be allowed to accelerate with the members rate in turn if desired and able to reciprocate the players enthusiasm? (Of course usual standards apply and nobody is required to post more than site minimums dictate.)

: Do we get to keep our character's normal gear? This is a big deal to gear reliant folks who've earned their growth potential in this manner. Do they come with all or are they to select their personal load out of weapons, armor, items, transport that they can utilize? IE: Transport might be a robot jocky's raison d'etre, or for Silhouette my character she earned a PPE/ISP battery just recently as a bracelet, which is her most valuable asset boosting her OOC's inefficient magecraft potential to just that of a proper Wizard of her level. Likewise mundane warriors, sneaks, and utilitarians like the robo-jock will be firmly attached to their favorite sword, rifle, ride or toolbox with all the strategies incumbent on using those possessions. (A thought; taking their existing gear greatly reduces the itemization required of the Gm's to populate equipment for the new arrivals on the Epic scene, freeing up a great deal of time to instead focus on the adventure crafting, leaving itemization of any kind to only be required for supplemental gear found in the field.)

:Is there potential for characters in the Epic to come away with gear (That character's home dimension influencing the gear) upon completion? As in there being an existentially awaking back in their dimension with memory intact and a token of concrete evidence and appreciation in hand from whatever entity summoned them?

:Do characters get EP for post rate per each game (epic & dimension) at each quad in addition to the individual XP? Or is the EP reward for the quad implied to be the 10 EP reward for completing the Epic?

:If a character dies in the Epic, but is not vaporized might there be potential for the Hero to be resurrected? Front line fighters take all the risk after all. Or is it implied; support better keep their fighter alive lest they be served up to the enemy next?

:Any words of wisdom for the players? What made the players successful in the last Epic? Standard stuff like don't split up? Don't go alone? Eat your vegetables, drink your ovaltine, and use marmite sparingly on your toast?

Hmmm. My RFM listening has been sporadic. Has there been any discussion or recap of the last epic? It could be fun to explain the "no coffee" comment, especially from the evil and twisted gm(s) who not only used the most universally loved beverage and a little girl to poison a couple regular regular joes.
