  • If the bearer replaces one of his eyes with the Eye of Odin, he permanently loses 2 P.B. but gains:

Curse: The eye constantly urges its bearer to replace his own eye with the Eye of Odin. This becomes harder to refuse over time. He will have vivid nightmares about cutting his own eye out every time he sleeps until he has done so. The bearer is -10% to all skills & -1 to all combat actions for the first six hours following sleep due to the effects of the nightmare.
Personality: The Eye of Odin does not communicate or have an independent personality of its own
History: The origin of the Eyes of Odin are lost to the annals of time. Legend has it that they were coveted artifacts during the great Elf-Dwarf war, but after the war and the consequent purge of rune items, most are believed to have been lost. The nightmares that come with the Eye gives some credence that they are somehow psychically linked to Odin.

Background Story

A Lieutenant in Corps of Royal Engineers in the British Army, having been primarily deployed in Germany, Africa and Cyprus.

Born in Leeds West Yorkshire, to a local businessman. He grew up attending the local private school and expected to attend Oxford or Cambridge. However, when visiting with his father at a family friend, the eye was part of a collection and began calling to him. He would be subject to dreams and nightmares than would lead to him breaking into the house and found with it in his head. he was picked up by the authorities and approached by Royal Corps of Engineers.

There is a special detachment in the Royal Engineers that recruit the brightest in order to train them as wizards. They maintain watch over certain sites to prevent their misuse. They recruited Matthew who took to the training like a duck to water, learning the mystic arts and his military training at an accelerated rate; this was partly due to the eye augmenting his abilities, but also due to his high natural intelligence.

Matthew is a combat veteran, having faced both mystical and mundane threats, whilst protecting and rediscovering sites under their auspices

As part of efforts in Century Station, the British government offered the services of one of its Engineers to assist the efforts of the Police to clean up the city. Initially dismissive, it took an explanation from certain covert circles to explain exactly what they were being offered. At which point, Century Station were quite keen to take them up on the offer.

Of course, that is not the only reason why Matthew has been deployed to Century Station; one of the sites they protect in Greece was plundered and a few items stolen. Matthew was part of the investigating team. He dealt with some of the creatures released whilst the items were traced to Century Station. Matthew has been sent in order to track them down.

Crucible Notes:

1. As a level 3 mega-hero, your next level @ XP should read 20,001, not 15,001.
2. If your Attribute bonuses are already calculated in to your sheet, go ahead and delete them from next to your scores.
3. Because you're not transforming, I don't need to keep your original PS or PB. If you want to put them in an OOC tag under your attributes, that's fine but not necessary. I try not to steal people's strength... that often...
4. I'm probably just missing it, but where is the Recognize The Arcane ability located?
5. RE Equipment: Throw some clothes on you heathen! But seriously, put any adventuring equipment you think makes sense, especially since he's coming from the army. I'd assume at least a utility belt, pistol, radio and a costume that matches your avatar.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4177 I presume you mean the perception bonus which is listed here. It is listed against against perception if that is what you meant about finding it

Everything else skill wise is from pages 152-153 In HU 2nd ed or listed on the sheet after spell knowledge

As Crucible gets a familiar, I was after a bird of some kind
