“Hey Kingpin we got a mission apparently there is some suspicious characters nosing around the town of Gwenwich. Possible CS involvement, we need to disguise ourselves and go investigate.” Basilos looks up from his bunk at the man speaking, James Orlow aka Speed, his partner in crime and trusted friend.

“Very well Speed we should go dressed as simple vagabonds, go grab the patchwork armor and some cloaks. I will go grab some basic weapons, meet me at the gates in thirty minutes.” After working on gathering the equipment and meeting up with Speed the two head out to Gwenwich to investigate the trouble makers.

Five hours later

“Move! Move! Move! We have got to get out of here now Speed we don’t have the fire power to take on a platoon of CS Spec Ops, we need to get out of here now and call in some help.” Kingpin then turns around and fires a few shots into the closest trooper giving a poor Ratling child a chance to get away and escape into the forest. He then turns and runs out of the town with Speed right on his tail both turning every fifty or so yards to fire back at their pursuers finally getting away from them.

One hour later

Both Kingpin and Speed run into their captains office.

“Sir! We have got a problem.”
“Lots of troops not far away.”



“Stop! Stop slow down you two. What do you mean lots of troops. Kingpin explain.”

“Yes sir the two of us were sent to investigate a couple of suspicious individuals. This group proved to be a scouting party for a CS hit squad targeting the town. Sir we need to take this group out other wise the could learn the location of this city.”

“Very well Kingpin we will send a counter attack now you two need to get some rest.”


"Sir I would like to lead the assult I believe that I should see this to the end." Kingpin sounds adamant about this with a fervor glowing in his eyes.

I want to go too sir both of us are up to fighting. Speed steps forward also ready for it.

With a doubtful look in the Captains eyes. "Fine but I dont like it how did they get this close without detection.

One hour later

Kingpin is standing in front of a platoon of men giving the mission brief and how the attack will be carried out. "Alright men here is what will happen Fireteam Alpha will draw the enemy out in the open making them easy to surround and defeat Speed will be leading that team. Meanwhile I want the teams Delta and Echo to set up long range rifles to pick off the enemy leaders. The rest of us will us short range weapons to take out the team."

Three hours later

"For the Vanguard and the CS!!!" Speed moves to quickly kill a pair of the Battle Magi that were in his fireteam, while the battle rages on around them. Only Basilos heard him correctly. Basilos rushes towards his former friend pulling out his weapons ready to take him out if needed.

James what are you talking about why would you work for the CS they hate magic and our kind!

You do not understand Basilos the Vanguard are loyal defenders of the CS even though they do not want us. Humanity must stand together against the D-Bee invasion.

But why! Everything we have trained to do. We defend our city against the CS what of our vows!

I was sent here years ago to infiltrate the city Basilos you find out a way to destroy it!.

Very well I shall stop you.... A sudden explosion rocks the earth as a stray blast hits a container one of the CS troopers are carrying. the explosion starts a massive fire forcing Basilos and Speed to separate from each other. The fire spreads at an alarming rate and the smoke starts to become unbearable Basilos begins to feel faint and loses consciousness.

Morning of the Next day

Basilos slowly wakes up and looks around the room he is in. Realizing he is back in the barracks he gets up but struggles to do so. After several tries he finally manages it. He immediately gets dressed and heads to the Captains office. Knocking on the door he walks into the room. "Sir we have an issue Speed was a traitor worked for a group called the Vanguard. Did we catch him?"

The Captain looks up worried. "No Kingpin we didn't your sniper teams said that after a large explosion and a fire they saw him heading off into the woods but were more concerned looking for survivors then him. He is gone for now."

Basilos lets out a slow breath "Very well sir I request to go on a Sojourn so I may find him if I recall correctly he had contacts in Merctown."

"Go then see if you cant find him and if you do take him out."
