Background Story

When Hans was little, he was a dashing young man who lived in a village in North America, whose parents were immigrants from the NGR. He was very quiet and not particularly outgoing, and as a result did not have any friends. Therefore, his best friend was Gerold, a rock with a face drawn on it. Hans would talk to Gerold whenever he got lonely. One day, while taking a stroll through the forest, he met a strange looking D-bee that was basically just a vaguely humanoid mass of tentacles and eyeballs, who loved dancing. The D-bee did not speak American, but the first thing it said to Hans was Yighklaaraponinch, so Hans assumed this was the D-bee's name. Although Yighklaaraponinch did not speak American and all it ever did was dance around, the two became fast friends when Yighklaaraponinch taught Hans how to dance (mostly when Hans followed what it did), and they would often spend lazy afternoons dancing through the forest. However, Hans' village was very close to a Coalition States military outpost, so he had to keep his friend a secret.

Unfortunately, Yighklaaraponinch did not understand why Hans had to keep him safe in the forest, and one day, Yighklaaraponinch wandered into the middle of Hans' village and started dancing, crushing barrels and knocking over pottery. The villagers, panicked by this sudden monster from another dimension, which was destroying everything and could possibly attack them, called for the help of the nearby Coalition outpost to save them by using the village Elder's radio. The coalition soldiers, naturally, swooped in with their SAMAS power armor suits and shot Yighklaaraponinch with their rail guns until he was reduced to a pool of blood.

Hans, having witnessed the death of his best (and only) friend Yighklaaraponinch at the hands of the coalition soldiers, swore he would avenge him. As he grew, he heard of even more atrocities that the CS committed, such as murdering innocent D-bees and hapless practitioners of magic. Hans needed to do something about this, but he was powerless against the overwhelming military might of the Coalition States. He needed money, or he could do nothing.

Hans decided he would leave the village he grew up in so he could find a way to make money. He used his money to buy an old fashioned hunting rifle and a knife, and set off to do some mercenary work, specifically against the Coalition States. Not far from the village, he found a city that was being attacked by a d-bee monster! The monster was flailing around and destroying everything in the city (which mostly relied on the frequent Coalition patrols to protect them), and when the citizens saw Hans with his gun, they begged him for his help.

The monster was a humanoid duck-thing that was very, very angry, for some reason. Hans sprung onto the monster and attacked it. However, he ended up getting grappled, and he struggled to break the grapple. Eventually, the two rolled out of the city, later causing a splinter that was stuck to the monster's foot to fly off. The monster was suddenly not-so-angry, and then the d-bee ran away from the city, happy that the splinter was finally out of his foot. The citizens, however, thought Hans had beat the monster nearly to death with his bare regular-human hands, causing it to run away. Praising him as a hero among heroes, they paid him a full 950,000 credits, as well as some basic supplies. Having 950,000 credits, which was enough to become a full conversion 'borg, Hans took his entire wealth to the city clinic and was turned into a walking weapon.

The new and improved Hans was a hulking 8 foot tall piece of metal, a full conversion 'borg bristling with weapons, and itching for a fight, specifically with the Coalition. Luckily (for him), just after he "beat" the D-bee out of town, a patrol of 10 Coalition soldiers who were called by radio to help the city entered the town, looking for the D-bee. All they found was a full conversion 'borg who wanted their blood.

In a matter of minutes the entire patrol was slaughtered. The citizens now saw Hans as a monster who only worked for money, and terrified of him, they immediately fled from him in cries of terror. Badly battered and damaged during the fight, and knowing that the citizens would soon signal another Coalition patrol to come save them from this new monster, Hans quickly gathered his supplies and left the city before more enemies arrived. He ran off into the wilderness, heading towards whatever civilization he could find that was not pro-coalition (as in, Merctown).
