Home Sweet Landing Pad

Date & Time wrote:Day 35 since departure.
Time: 4:00 PM Center Reckoning.
Temperature: 67 degrees with 50% Humidity.
Weather: None.

Skills
Scythe: Lore: Magic (To think of useful spells?) This is very arbitrary, what's useful to one, may not even be useful to them later.
Lore, Psionics (Harmful Entities in specific, to see what more he can find out on them. He is researching specifically for weaknesses, noted motivations and abilities.): They are susceptible to most magic and psionics, and sunlight, that is about it for weaknesses. Harmful entities motivations vary by the subject, but generally they want to kill the living. They are disruptive to electronic devices, and have small smattering of magical abilities and psionics, that all revolve around causing madness and fear.
Az Rael: Charm (Speak with charm and grace in the attempt to convince Thraxus to pool the group annual funds.) See Post.
Invoke Trust (Impart a sense of trust during the conversation in an attempt to convince Thraxus to pool the group annual funds.) See Post.
Pertinax: Pilot: Small Spacecraft (Pilot the Rogue back to Center and land) Landing is smoot as it can be when flying a non-aerodynamic death trap.
Radio: Basic (Confirm that they are actually back on Center and send the ship's registry): Sure are, nothing strange other than the guy rolling this skill.
Electronic Countermeasures (Listen for any encrypted messages that might reveal an enemy nearby): There are literally millions of encrypted signals on Center, if any are an enemy, Pertinax does not know.
Intelligence (Trail Alvidan and keep an eye out for anyone that may help either the Rogues or be a useful contact in the future.): Since Alvidan doesn't go anywhere, this skill is rather moot.
Alvidan: Computer Operation (Locate exorcist): While an exorcist would seem a relatively easy thing to find, Alvidan seems to be hitting nothing but dead ends.
Tracking: People (Locate exorcist): This isn't how this skill works, so no results.
Intelligence (Locate exorcist): This skill doesn't quite work this way, but Alvidan is sure that he would more easily find Exorcists in the Warlock Market or a powerful church.
Charm/Impress (Persuade Exorcist to help): None found so Alvidan isn't able to insult anyone.
Invoke Trust/Intimidate (Persuade Exorcist to help): While Alvidan could put on a trustworthy face, he doesn't have to because he never found an Exorcist.
Computer Operation (Locate Sunaj help): This isn't gonna work, Secret Terrorist Organizations don't tend to be in directories.
Tracking: People (Locate Sunaj help): Again, not how this skill works. This skill is for following tracks, not finding someone you don't know about.
Intelligence (Locate Sunaj help): Sorry with a roll that bad, Alvidan can't even remember where to find his old team.

Scythe's Shopping trip
Detect Leak, Being offered for 30,000 credits.
Magic Homing Beacon, Not available.
Sense Magic Homing Beacon, Not Available.
Vacuum Speak, Not Available.
Radiation Shielding, being offered for 60,000 credits.
Detect Teleportation & Magic Breaches, Being offered for 85,000 credits.
Distress Call, Being offered for 80,000 credits.
Hide in Space, Not Available.
Impervious to Vacuum, Not available.
Stella Navigation, Being offered for 90,000 credits.
Talisman Materials, 250 credits.

Raz's Price Shopping
Dis-connectable power cables that will work with the rogue. 50,000 credits.
Several Breaker boxes for the cables. 200,000 credits for the kind of military grade breaker system the Rogue would need.
A Power generator that is capable of taking the strain of the cannon. 6 to 8 million credits, and even then there wouldn't be a guarantee that it would truly work, as the cannon is a work of madness.
A capacitor that would be able to be used if no power source will work for the cannon. 1 to 2 million credits, and again no guarantee that it will work.
Enough cable to create a backup power system capable of powering the FTL. One million credits
An audio output for the computer VI. 1,000 credits

The Rogue touches down on it's home pad, the groups HQ visible from the cockpit. Other than a few humanoid service drones waiting near the refueling station, nothing is moving on the pad. Once the crew disembarks from the ship, they spread to their various self assigned tasks. Scythe heads off to the Warlock Market, Alvidan and Alex to their respective rooms. Raz heads to the garage, and Pertinax kinda wanders about.

Alvidan spends several hours looking for help of various kinds, but doesn't come up with any leads and still has a massive headache from his concussion.

Alex makes a call to Thraxus about budget concerns, but is only able to reach one of his underlings, who says that he'll make his way to their headquarters to discuss the issues in person.

Scythe finds the Warlock Market is still rebuilding. After only a months time, they've managed to clear out a majority of the rubble from destroyed buildings, and a few of the larger buildings are being rebuilt. Scythe can't help but notice while there are merchants, they all seem sullen still, and their wares are minimal at best, all in all the Warlock Market still seems a ghost town.

The next day security dings over the intercom. "A Mr. Holt to see Alex... He's waiting in your office." The guard says with a hint of frustration.

Once Alex gets to his office he finds a well dressed humanoid with handsome face, light colored eyes and dark hair. He is currently sitting in the chair opposite of Alex's desk as if he's just waiting for Alex's arrival. Though humorously he has a short cocktail glass in his hand filled with an amber liquid.

What are your Intentions?

Perception: 1d100 = 49 vs 55% +15% in darkness or while in a shadow, +5% When dealing with Vampires or the Undead,+5% when pertaining to ambush, backstabbing or shadow magic
JIC: 1d20 = 7 and 1d100 = 2

Skills
Charm/Impress: 25% vs 1d100 = 31 - Charm Mr. Holt
Invoke Trust/Intimidate: 60% 25% vs 1d100 = 15 - Invoke Trust in Mr. Holt

Az Rael walks into his office seeing Mr. Holt sitting in the chair waiting for him. Holt? Seems so familiar. As he walks to his chair he says, "Please, make yourself comfortable." and smiles slyly. Then it hits him, the conversation with Vort about previous leadership, Could he be? Hmm. Interesting Alex takes a seat behind the desk. "Anyway, as we discussed on the phone, we have had a major setback with the rogue. At least the ship seems to want to be called the rogue. We are still working out the issues. My current mechanic, as impromptu as he is, has managed to locate some pricing on what it will take to secure and repair the ship and it seems to be a little outside of our current funding ability. This is of course an issue for us as well as an issue for our ability to complete work for Mr. Thaxus. We would like to get back on the current mission as quickly as possible."

Az Rael pauses to judge Holt's demeanor. If he is the Holt Vort mentioned, would he understand? Would he side with the request?

"Understandable, the requested upgrades and repairs we are requesting will help us to better serve Mr Thaxus in the long term. They could also be seen as an investment as the ship is his of course. Ultimately it is a win, win situation. Regarding the total cost, I don't believe the funds are that significant to a man of his wealth. Not that it will be a tiny amount, I’m sure.”

Az Rael pauses for a moment nervous about the total number. He keys up the radio reaching out to Raz, ”Raz, do you have the figures on the ship repairs?” Az Rael will sit back, observe and wait for Raz’z reply, interjecting to Mr. Holt, ”I am curious, are you the Mr. Holt that had the pleasure of leading the GR before me?”

JiC: 1d100 = 45 /1d20 = 13
Perception [38%]: 1d100 = 1[HYPER CRIT!!!]

Slightly soured by the state of the market, Scythe resigns that the war he's heard so little about that caused such damage is still felt. I should count myself lucky having missed that, though I imagine surviving it would've helped other prospects of mine. he muses as he traverses the battered market. Scythe will purchase Detect Leak, Radiation Shielding, Detect Teleportation & Magic Breaches, and Distress Beacon.

He'll purchase the talisman material and create the See the Invisible talismans (8) before taking an extra step and fashioning an Energy Sphere of 400 PPE.

After a couple hours gone, Scythe will return to the ship and radio the crew. "Scythe here. I've returned from my excursion with more information regarding what plagued our vessel in deep space. I'm going to attempt to see if anything followed us back and, if so, banish it. Anyone not doing anything, your presence while I preform this ritual would be appreciated. "

Scythe will then activate his third eye's Sense the Supernatural to see if he senses anything abhorrent on the ship. If he does, he'll try to wait for at least one other on the ship to be with him before drawing on the magic's of the sphere to first cast Watchguard around his location, then prepare the Banishment Ritual. If he doesn't sense anything, he'll meditate until others return from their excursions.

Sense Supernatural (3)
Book: Rifter 25, pg 79
Range: 140 foot (42.7 m) area.
Duration: Two minutes per level of experience. (8 minutes)
I.S.P.: 3
Base Skill: 37% (+3%)

A power similar to the Psi-Stalker's, this enables the psychic to sense and track supernatural creatures. Although the range is greatly lower than a Psi-Stalker's, this can still be a very useful ability. While using this power, the psychic will sense the presence of any type of supernatural creature, including demons, Deevils, Elementals, dragons, and even Entities. Tracking the supernatural using this power is done at a skill of 25% +3% per level of experience.

Perception (29%): 1d100 = 96
JIC: 1d20 = 19
JIC%: 1d100 = 96

BEFORE going to sleep, Alvidan will attempt Bio-regeneration to try to heal the damage he has taken.
OOC Comments
Bio-regeneration: Super, 40 ISP, 4d6 = 14 MDC healed with 2 minutes of meditation

If that does not work he will activate his death touch tattoo, as that also has healing properties (though he will be careful not to touch anyone until he can dismiss the magic).
OOC Comments
Death Touch Tattoo: 40 PPE, Bio-regeneration 1d4*10 = 20+10 MDC

He should recover his ISP/PPE over night hopefully.

Alvidan rests for the night (I believe he recovers 2d8 = 12+10 MDC) and then tries again in the morning, first he will take public transport to the Warlock Market, as that seems the place to look, then start again with his search for an exorcist.

He will look for a ley line in the area, if one is available he will spend about 3 hours healing before he starts his search. If there are ley lines, this is the district for them.

First see if there is anything listed under psychic and magical agencies for services available. If he can not find any listings, then he will have to try asking questions.

Computer Operation (55%): 1d100 = 39 Searching for agencies or individuals that provide exorcism and entity removal services
Invoke Trust/Intimidate (60%): 1d100 = 86 Asking around about exorcists and entity removal specialists

Once he has searched for the exorcist, he will take a break from that and see if he can find one of his Sunaj contacts (which includes going to a safe house and switching to Sunaj guise of that is possible, so that people will not connect Alvidan to the contact later).

Raz is going over the numbers and possible plans in the garage. Hmm...just over eleven million. Not bad all things considering. Well if everything goes to shit I can always be a mechanic as a fall back. I am sure there is some way to use this to establish a network...Black market mods. Need the mechanics to put off that. Ya. That would be another good enterprise. Az's radio call interupts Raz thoughts.

As Az Rael finishes responding to Scythe Raz replies as well.

Az Rael winces slightly as Raz describes all the individual costs, I was hoping for a single round number. We will see how that changes things. Could bode well for transparency. He will reply quickly, "Thank you Raz," before turning back to Mr. Holt. "As you can tell we are hard at work turning this around. Mini-GM Update: Office Edition

Az Rael wrote:"Please, make yourself comfortable."

Holt nods and smirks. Az Rael can tell he is enjoying his job as, well Az Rael isn't entirely sure what his job is, though he obviously is working for Thraxus.

Az Rael wrote:"Anyway, as we discussed on the phone, we have had a major setback with the rogue.

Holt nods. "We changed the name as more of a joke... I didn't know ships could change their own registries." Holt says with a hint of curiousness in his voice. "Money is always an issue with Mercenary groups." Holt says matter of factly.

Az Rael wrote:"Understandable, the requested upgrades and repairs we are requesting will help us to better serve Mr Thaxus in the long term. They could also be seen as an investment as the ship is his of course. Ultimately it is a win, win situation. Regarding the total cost, I don't believe the funds are that significant to a man of his wealth. Not that it will be a tiny amount, I’m sure.”

Holt watches Az Rael as he runs his spiel, only once looking down at a tablet that Holt has in hand. "You are right likely whatever you are asking for is a pittance to being as wealthy as Thraxus, but he didn't get that wealthy by just spending money willy-nilly." Holt says in a tone Az Rael can only call understanding.

Az Rael wrote:”I am curious, are you the Mr. Holt that had the pleasure of leading the GR before me?”

Holt nods. "I was the leader of the Rogues when they took on the Demon Planet Cormal. I got separated, and by time I made my way back into the world, the team had already moved on with Vortigern as their leader... I decided not to rock the boat and Thraxus offered me a different job. Now Vortigern is out of the picture, and you're the team leader... Thraxus thought it might be more useful if I acted as a liason between the team and himself, as he is a very busy being." Holt answers with the ease of truthfulness.

Az Rael wrote:"As you can tell we are hard at work turning this around. Seems just under 12 million credits solves the problems and offers some security on ship operation in the future. As I said early though, the ship modifications will benefit Mr. Thaxus two fold, It allows the team to operate more efficiently with less interruptions and increases the value of one of his many holdings."

"Alex, I'll be honest with you. Thraxus doesn't particularly want to have to drop more money into that ship. He knows it's not the best out there and really only bought it because it was a bit unique and readily available when the Rogues needed a ship. We had had a Phase Transceiver mishap and appeared and crashed on level three. That was a mess to clean up on Thraxus' end. Hell I don't think we ever even used the ship while I was with the group." Holt pauses to take a sip of his drink. "That being said, Thraxus is willing to go up to fifty percent of your costs to repair the ship this time, mostly because I told him that it never got a proper shakedown before you guys got it. I do wonder if you're mechanic took into account labor costs?" Holt says questioningly.

"That's the offer on the table, Thraxus will pay fifty percent of the cost of repairing the ship. I suppose I could convince him to use his own people for the actual repairs, which would cut your cost down." Holt says in a contemplative tone.

"As for your other request, about merging the various budgets... I'll have to look into that, as that is an accounting thing and not really something I can do on my own." Holt adds, before taking another sip of his drink.

Consumer wrote:"Alex, I'll be honest with you.

When Holt mentions ships not being able to change their own registrations Alex agrees in thought but does not broach the subject further, They shouldn't. That is another problem. Not for today though. He lets Holt finish explaining what he is willing to offer in response to the request. If he doesn't want to put more money in it is a new ship a better option? The thought pangs him with a slight sadness. The ship has been growing on him. It is. Well like us. A rogue.

"Mr. Holt, your offer is more than reasonable. I would say the cost is much less than a total replacement. As for the ship, It may not be the best. It is the best for us. I have had the pleasure of taking her out once previously and everything was fine. My hope is with the redundant systems in line we can overcome any quarks that might arise." Alex stops to consider his other offer as well, "Your suggestion, having some of Mr. Thaxus own people work on it to save cost. I think this is a brilliant idea. We don't want this to cost more than it has too. After Votigern left, the groups operating funds have been. Well. Lacking. This is something I hope to remedy over time. This. Setback, will hurt but it is something we can remedy with perseverance."

Alex stands up and walks over to Holt, he extends his hand, "I am hoping this will be the start of a very prosperous relationship Mr. Holt. Please let me know if we need to bring the ship somewhere or if they will be able to work on it here." Finishing up the conversation, feeling confident and successful in the dealings, Az Rael decides to ask, "About the ship. Renaming itself. Do you have any thoughts on that? Maybe. The technicians can look into that while they are affecting the other repairs?"

"Copy Scythe, I am tied up at the moment. I believe Bryke and Pertinax should be available. As soon as I free up I will come down as well. Have you heard from Alvidan in regards to his independent search as well?"

Scythe shakes his head. Still not sure he should be searching for an exorcist amid the Warlock Market's current state and recent war, they could easily all be tapped. That said, redundancy is not a bad thing. He muses before answering. "Nothing from Alvidan yet, and the current state of the Warlock's Market amid the recent events could make finding a freelancer challenging. I was only able to procure a fraction of what I set out for. That said, should his search prove fruitful, a second qualified opinion is never a bad thing regarding such things. I'll go ahead with my inspection and, should I find anything, begin my preparations for the banishment." He says, finishing his broadcast, gazing at the interior of the ship.

Using Sense the Supernatural (prior post), he'll scour the length of the ship with his lightblade talisman in hand should if feel threatened. While walking, and using the knowledge he gained from his research, he communes with his blade. Let's review what we know about what we encountered; Harmful Entities. They are susceptible to most magic and psionics, and sunlight, that is about it for weaknesses. Harmful entities motivations vary by the subject, but generally they want to kill the living. They are disruptive to electronic devices, and have small smattering of magical abilities and psionics, that all revolve around causing madness and fear. He states, then pauses as he allows his blade time to digest before adding. From that, we can discern that Lightblade is easily the most efficient offensive weapon available to us, beyond outright banishing them from the area. He finishes. After a few moments, he blade responds. Yes, and it was likely the cause of some of the electrical disturbances on the ship, which could have prompted the hostility from the VI. His blade remarks as Scythe nods during his walk. And it's only purpose is to kill the living through fear and torment. With a varying range of magics and psionics at it's disposal, many of which are designed to cause madness or fear; illusions, possibly. No wonder we had such a problem when we encountered it before. Let's see if it followed us home; Log this information for future reference, please. He finishes.

If he senses a presence, he will not engage it and will activate his suits Armor of Ithan as a layer of protection. Following that, he will begin the preparations for the Banishment Ritual and activate a Watchguard warning radius; tapping his sphere for both.

Exorcising the Ship
Scythe

Scythe does a few things in the Warlock Market, including making several more Talisman's and spending a small fortune on a few spells. By time Scythe makes his way back to the Rogue's Headquarters in the Skyline Landing pads above the dome of Center. After Scythe informs the group of his return, he requests someone join him in his attempt to exercise the ghosts on the ship. Scythe takes a slow trip around the ship, looking for signs of the ghosts that wreaked havoc while the ship was stalled in the space between galaxies. Scythe is unsure of what he makes of it, as he makes more than one pass, but doesn't sens any actually presences. Scythe can only guess that maybe they're dormant and that is a difficulty. So keeping to his plan, Scythe casts his watchguard and sits quietly in meditation for someone else to arrive.

Headcase for madness
Alvidan

Alvidan through a splitting headache and blurring eyes manages to consider a plan to deal with what is likely a very dangerous situation. He slowly struggles to activate one of his more helpful mental powers which seems to have a partial effect, the physical wounds heal slightly and the fog of pain lifts slightly. This allows Alvidan to consider a slightly different and more potent ability of his. Activating a tattoo, normally meant to kill others, it has a strange sub-ability to heal. This leaves Alvidan feeling immensely better, only a much milder headache remains and his vision is nearly back to normal.

Alvidan enters the Warlock Market for the first time, and finds it to be a relative ghost town. While the Warlock Market is modern as anywhere else, Alvidan doesn't find any information stations that are active or working correctly. So that leaves Alvidan with looking for help the old fashioned way. This proves to be fruitless over several hours of searching, Alvidan finds that a majority of the psychics have yet to return to the Market, by best estimates less than twenty percent of the previous merchants have returned yet.

Alvidan gives up on that project and seeks out his brethren to help him with his mental issues. Alvidan only knows of two places that he's encountered Sunaj. The Frontieer Buccaneers and the shady bar in the lower levels. Neither take to people just randomly showing up.

In the works
Raz

Raz alone in the garage, goes over the proposed plans for the rebuilding of the ship. By Raz's estimate, if he's working by himself, it might take him as little as two months to complete the repairs, which would still be in time for the mission, but it would be cutting bit very close. Unknowing of the deal being made upstairs.

A bit of shopping
Bryke

Bryke spends a good deal of the day looking for things for himself and a item for the team at large. Bryke doesn't find anyone who is either willing or skilled enough to modify a phase weapon in such a way. Likewise Bryke's search for an augmentation helm comes up in failure, they're normally very rare, and the war on Center seems to make them nonexistent for the time being.

The last item on the list seems to be available in the strangest of places. Bryke finds a very immersive virtual reality system on level three, in the Splugorth markets, specifically Wonder World.

The Battle System
A full body VR simulation with Haptic Feedback systems. This system allows beings to interact in a virtual environment, while keeping them perfectly safe.

Base system Cost: 40,000 credits. plus an additional 10,000 credits per possible participant. (ie. 40k + 20k for two people.)

Meeting with Uncle Money Bags.
Az Rael and Bryke

Holt seems to take Az Rael's acceptance of the terms with a nod. "You seem like a persistent individual. I'm sure you'll overcome the problems you've run into."

Az Rael's question about the transponders changes elicits a shrug. "I honestly couldn't tell you, maybe a ghost in the system." Holt looks like he may continue with the thought when Bryke shows up. "Hello Bryke, long time no see. Oh it wasn't all that interesting really, the dimensional space around Cormal was all messed up. Should have seen it coming, considering something like that happened down in the lower levels when they tried to summon a Deevil Lord. I popped out off planet, a few teleports later I found a semi-functional ship and waited it out really. And now here I am working as liaison between the Rogues and Thraxus." Holt says before finishing his drink. "Well with business concluded, I must make my way back to the boss and set things in motion for your shi repairs." Holt says before handing Az Rael a slip of plastic. "My contact information, send me the bills and I'll get the money rolling. I'll have the techs here in the morning. Pleasure meeting you, nice seeing you again Bryke." Holt says, before he vanishes in a quick flash of light.

What the future holds
General Information

The next morning a dozen technicians arrive with a few floating platforms of tools. They wait for a bit of direction and move on to the tasks they can begin taking care of without the parts, which includes stripping out ruined wires and dealing with the pest that are still left.

Alvidan, after a bit of looking around, realized, The Demon invasion must have taken a heavy toll in this area, there are no listed contacts I can locate for Exorcists, either magical or psychic. Probably those that still exist are in high demand and are serving elite clientele.

He will call back to the others and inform them of the difficulty before seeking to work on his other situation, "People, it seems that exorcists are at a premium right now, we might not be able to contact one any time soon through normal channels. Perhaps someone higher on the ladder might find one."

What he needs to do next is pretty clear, seek out one of the safe houses he uses to adopt his Sunaj identity and then place a coded message asking or a meeting. From there he will have to wait to be told when and where in the response.

Scythe resigns to wait for the others after not having found anything and communes with his Blade, his only solace in these turbulent times. So, what're we thinking. These entities that inhabited the shit; spacefaring entities looking for life to drain or dormant sleepers on the ship waiting for the right catalyst to engage. If they are spacefaring, there is really nothing we can do to prevent them. He begins, in essence, meditating in the center of his watchguard circle while thinking on the issues that plagued them. Before his blade responds, Scythe adds. Or... if it is dormant, maybe we can find a way to trigger it. Force it to become awake and, even if hostile, susceptible to a banishment. He finishes. Such a proposition would be risky, especially considering we don't know why it is here or what is keeping it here. His blade responds curtly. Yes, but if it has a focus object or objects, then perhaps the proprietor of this ship would be able to give us clues on it. We know the race of one of the entities, that should help. A Golgon. Scythe thinks.

Amid his mental problem solving, he hears Alvidan on the radio and jolts himself out of his meditation.

Alvidan wrote: "People, it seems that exorcists are at a premium right now, we might not be able to contact one any time soon through normal channels. Perhaps someone higher on the ladder might find one."

At least he tried. Perhaps when we finish with Thraxus, I can offer my services as an exorcist to some who may need it. I would prefer some more practice in the art, however, first. Scythe thinks before queuing his radio. "Speaking to that, Scythe here. Az, I have a request. I have learned more about these entities and a key feature is that they usually, though not always, have a focus object. Something they were attached too while living. Perhaps you could inquire into such an object based on the entity we encountered; the golgon former crew member in the space suit. He suggests, pausing briefly before adding. "I did a walkthrough of the ship and could not sense anything, though that does not mean they are not dormant. If we can find and check for focus objects, we may be able to forcibly banish it by destroying it. These objects are usually small and personal in nature, not an entire ship, for example, but maybe something within. If you could ask the proprietor or anyone who possibly knew this golgon, that could help." Scythe finishes.

Scythe then rises from his spot and begins a new search of the ship. This time, I will look for something more personal. Nothing that belongs to anyone of this crew now, and possibly what is out of context with the rest of the ship. Jumbled though it may be, anything that stands out or looks like it could've belonged to the golgon. Scythe reaffirms with his blade.

Scythe will cast [See Aura] and scour the ship, he is looking for an aura similar to that of the entities, or anything that gives off a similar type aura. He'll recast See Aura per room he enters, drawing on the sphere's energies.

Az Rael walks out of the lair in the morning and down to the landing pad with a cup of coffee, Well Mr. holt certainly doesn't waste time. Az Rael smiles and sips on the coffee feeling confident as repairs seem to be going well. Keying up the team frequency, "Raz, it seems you have approval to make the purchases we need. Please have them delivered ASAP. If you haven't noticed, we have some help getting this done." Just before releasing the channel he remembers one last request, "Please don't forget the audio interface for the VI in the system. I would also like to know what systems it is currently capable of operating for us as well."

Feeling satisfied the team is handling everything he starts back to HQ when Vidan comes across the radio.

He replies calmly, "No worries, I expected that you may have troubles. Scythe is already working on it as a backup. Finish up whatever other business you might have and get back to HQ" Smiling Az Rael continues back to the office feeling confident he is finally filling in his role as the team lead, No this is the way things should be going. Smooth as a babies bum. He is almost back to his office when Scythe breaks over the team channel.

Scythe wrote:"Speaking to that, Scythe here.

Az Rael replies, "I did inquire somewhat, it seems although the ship has been here much longer than us it is as new to the team as we are. The former team leader had not even used the ship. I will research what I can on what I do already know about the ship. The rogue, as it calls itself now, is made up of three completely different ships. I am just about to my office. Let me see what I can find out." Finally making it back to his office Az Rael takes a seat at his desk and types out a quick message to Mr. Holt.

Code: Select all
Mr Holt,

The technicians arrived this morning. Thank you for your expediency. I was wondering if you could contact Mr. Thaxus and find out if there is anyone who might give us some more information about our ship. Thank you.

Alex

Once Az Rael is done with the message to Holt he turns to completing some research on what he does know from his interaction with the ships console. Maybe being tied to Center's inter web may yield some additional information. Before digging into the task he radios the team, "I will be in my office working on whatever information I can find. Let me know if you need me."

Az Rael searches the following tags seeing what he can pull up

Intelligence (64%) -- 1d100 = 78: Find out any information on the buildings and neighborhoods that Alvidan enters
Streetwise (45%) 1d100 = 89 -- Establish contacts with people on Center; inquire about any abandoned properties (stalls, warehouses, houses) that might be turned into a place to stash stuff

Pertinax follows Vidan out of the Rogues base and into the streets of Center. He follows him at a reasonable distance. Vidan might just assume that Pertinax is also going shopping, as he does disappear into stalls or stores from time to time. He gives the shopkeeper a polite, if standoffish nod, and asking the price of the occasional explosive, then walks out without deigning to haggle over the price. That he is maintaining a healthy distance from Vidan is also understandable, he hardly knows his teammate, and he would like to keep things that way. Getting to know them just gives Pertinax more reasons to knife his teammates while they sleep.

But Pertinax also feels a need to know more about Vidan at the moment. His actions on the Rogue were a little worrisome. And if he behaves erratically, he may draw some unwanted and hostile attention to the team. He wants to know where Vidan is going and who he knows on the streets of Center. Is their are many reasons to follow his teammate. If Vidan is planning on selling him out, Pertinax will with advance warning. If he has enemies that might go after all the Rogues. If he has any weakness that Pertinax may exploit in the future, or use to kill him if/when the time comes.

Eventually, he will lose track of the tattooed man, which is just as well. He does not want to endanger the team's dynamic by spying on the others, which is what he is doing but that's beside the point. This turns into an exercise in spy-craft. As he spends more time walking the streets of Center he is getting a better sense of his new base of operations. He will get comfortable chatting up different merchants and locals, presenting himself as a member your average Center-based mercenary group. He wants to know the average prices and available weapons to report back before purchasing, etc., etc. And while he is at it, he asks about any place he might be able to turn into a safe house or discrete and secure storage space. It will be a good test of his ability to establish contacts on the Center.

Raz starts awake from the sound of the radio in his ear, scattering the papers and pen he was using as a pillow. Damn. Oh ya I was working on the plans for the ship. Raz keys his radio, "Great news Alex. I'll get to work on procuring those supplies. Just make sure to forward me the requisite information for payment."

Raz sets about acquiring the items he priced the day before. Raz makes several calls to ensure all items are acquired and delivered to the Rogues HQ. When the items show up Raz personally directs the maintenance personnel on where and how the parts should be installed. Raz includes an overlay and labels for all the panels and power cable bundles to ensure everyone will know where and what they go to. (Rolls held over)
Alvidant leaves a coded message in a blank drop via computer to let them know he is coming.

Computer Programming (60%): 1d100 = 95

Alvidan has to be careful to get to his contact location without attracting attention or being followed. Fortunately he has the means to do so.

The first thing to do is use his skills to try to lose anyone trying to follow him. That, in cases like this, includes taking public transportation and getting off with a crowd of others, moving through crowded areas where followers will have trouble following, then moving through deserted areas where observers will have trouble not being seen. During this he will double back on his trail, pass through narrow areas, climb or jump over objects, sneak through shadows, and even disguise himself.

Disguise (65%): 1d100 = 31 (To change appearance to confuse followers)
Intelligence (64%): 1d100 = 82 (To try to figure out if he is being followed)
Prowl (55%): 1d100 = 4 (to hide from observers)
Tracking: People (65%): 1d100 = 96 (to break and obscure trails)

He will then use his Psionic Invisibility and repeat the process.

Disguise (65%): 1d100 = 14 (To change appearance to confuse followers)
Intelligence (64%): 1d100 = 21 (To try to figure out if he is being followed)
Prowl (55%): 1d100 = 2 (to hide from observers)
Tracking: People (65%): 1d100 = 21 (to break and obscure trails)

Finally he will do it a third time using his Closed Eye Tattoo.

Disguise (65%): 1d100 = 69 (To change appearance to confuse followers)
Intelligence (64%): 1d100 = 29 (To try to figure out if he is being followed)
Prowl (55%): 1d100 = 33 (to hide from observers)
Tracking: People (65%): 1d100 = 74 (to break and obscure trails)

By then, he should pretty much have lost anyone following him and should be able to enter the area where his contact location is unobserved.

In the area he will continue to try to avoid observation, which means using the Closed Eye tattoo again when entering the final destination as well as his stealth skills.

Intelligence (64%): 1d100 = 40 (To try to figure out if he is being followed)
Prowl (55%): 1d100 = 19 (to hide from observers)
Tracking: People (65%): 1d100 = 12 (to break and obscure trails)

Skills
Scythe: Lore, Psionics (Focus Object search): Well, to be honest this is a big needle in a haystack kind of search.
Intelligence (Focus Object search in relation to a Golgon): Likely something that was a part of the Golgan ship that was incorporated into the Rogue, which is a large percentage of the ship. You may need to go into the history of the former crew to get a better Idea.
Az Rael: Research (Search topic, Ship Name Grouse - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Nothing, nada, bupkiss. It's like the ship didn't exist.
Research (Search topic, Ship owner Doran Keck - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information) Golgan Shorthaul Captain, not a particularly interesting individual. Died on route out of Center to the Golgan republic, cause was asphyxiation due to faulty vac suit.
Research (Search topic, Ship owner Olin Braed - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Was a human smuggler. Died running a picket in the TGE. Has a criminal record several pages long.
Research (Search topic, Ship owner Doctor Corey - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Used to be a tenured professor at a CCW university, was fired for aggressive tendencies towards critics. Had four PHDs and over two dozen associated doctorates. Eventually faded from the lime light, and stayed there for the most part until his death. Was fascinated with Dominator technology, and may be the only human ever to come close to creating something like it. Colleagues would say that Dr. Corey was single minded and entirely focused on his projects, oh and very much insane.
Research (Search topic, NE-VI-3827 - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Naruni Virtual Intelligence, brought into operation forty-five years ago. A standard model usually found on Naruni ships, this particular one, was noted as being within parameters.
Research (Search topic, Naruni VI capabilities - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Pretty standard, excellent at software based repairs, and assisting physical repairs with detailed knowledge of the systems they are attached to. Unable to do things they are not either programmed to, or told not to.
Research (Search topic, Golgan Hor'gath - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): No info on any individual comes up with this search.
Research (Search topic, The rogue - Start with initial entry and chase and standout information): Not much appears when this is searched, but given how long it sat in a warehouse after the death of it's last owner, no one would be surprised.

Exorcising the Ship
Scythe

Scythe spends a good amount of time hunting for Ghosts, It's frustrating for a few reasons. First is Scythe isn't finding them as easily as hoped, second he's now not alone on the ship as a horde of technicians have descended upon the Rogue like carrion birds picking at a large beached sea creature. So where things may have normally been, they are not now as bulkheads and access panels are now open and wires are being pulled from the innards of the ship. Thirdly every so often the aether of the ship is disrupted by the violent release of P.P.E. when the Tech's find and kill a space uggly found in the walls.

Headcase for madness
Alvidan

Alvidan sends his coded message to the only handler he knows personally. Several hours pass, and Alvidan receives a reply.

Code: Select all
You know where to find us. Come to the bar.

Alvidan makes the trek from above center to the area deep in it's belly, and after several hours of travel arrives. The dirty brick building basically blends into the area, only a glowing holographic sign betrays it as a bar. Inside is sparsely populated, a bartender, and two patron's staring into the bottom of their cups, Alvidan isn't even sure if they're alive considering they don't move the whole time he can see them. Alvidan's arrival has the Bartender look up, nod, and point to the back.

Alvidan makes it to the bar office, inside is the hulking tattooed form of his handler. Not even looking up from his paperwork. "Sit, and what?"

In the works
Raz

Raz tries to manage what is happening onboard the Rogue, but in the end can really only assist when it's all said and done. These techs are efficient at their jobs. Eventually parts start arriving and are incorporated into the daily tasks being taken care of. At one point though Raz is approached by a man named Liam, the head tech sent by Thraxus. "So the galley looks like it was used for target practice, do you want us to fix that too? Gonna need to replace some of the appliances as they're wrecked beyond repair."

A bit of shopping
Bryke

Bryke makes his purchases and makes his way back to the HQ. He arrives to see tech's scurrying around the Rogue, pulling and dumping miles of electrical wire on the landing pad.

Learn history, it'll be fun they say.
Az Rael

Az Rael watches the techs work on the ship for a bit before going to do his own things. Az Rael's message to Holt gets a quick response.

Code: Select all
Alex,

Your welcome. Benefits of working with the richest being in the known universe. I can look around, but I'll be honest I don't have a lot of hope on finding anyone versed in the history of that ship.

Holt

Undeterred Az Rael goes into his office and begins more than a few hours of hard digging for information about various factors that make up the Rogue. (See Skills)

Paranoia in the city.
Pertinax

Pertinax spends a while following Alvidan around, eventually loosing him. Not having a goal in mind, Pertinax proceeds to take on a different approach and begins playing the generic mercenary. The conversations he has are pretty normal all things considered. When Pertinax starts looking into possible safehouses, he gets the cold shoulder. (Bad roll, sorry.)

What the future holds
General Information

The next two weeks are a whirlwhind of activity on the ship as the Tech crew rewires the ship and deals with the left over pests. At one point a In'Valin arrives with the tech crew, Bryke recognizes him as Kruxxis, a man of position among Thraxus' people. He seems to only be there to help with the repairs to the Collision Cannon specifically, as it is above the paygrade of even the Techs on site. By the end of two weeks the ship is theoretically repaired with the new modifications in place.

Scythe scowls inwardly at the descent of operators crowd and occupy the space on the ship effecting much needed repairs. Bah, bloody mortals are like fodder. Unaware of the danger that may be lurking on the ship they descend like bugs effecting repairs to their hive. Any one of them could prove a tether to any lurking entity and with the energies being release by the ugglies, I can't concentrate on any given sense. Scythe complains to his blade. Would you rather a ship that goes dark three weeks into dark space? His blade answers plainly, earning an eye twitch from Scythe who doesn't answer. Instead, he queues his radio.

"Az, has there been anything regarding the past crew on this ship? What we may need is something that was apart of the Golgon Ship that was incorporated into this one. This ship is a mesh of multiple ships. Is there a record of what came from where? I'm confident we can locate possible focus objects to investigate once we know what to look for but the haystack is rather large to go about it without any further information. Short of replacing every minor thing on the ship from the chairs to the tables." Scythe offers.

After a pause, he adds. "Also, it seems the repair crew has found and begun to systematically exterminate a horde of ugglies and the phase weevils I saw earlier. The extermination of these creatures is making my senses conflated and difficult to focus, so any attempt of tracking is currently out of the question."

Scythe will then head to a computer terminal either in the bridge or engineering and attempt to research the different ships and what may or may not be apart of the Golgon ship so he can cross reference and hopefully find likely objects.

Day after day he feels like he hits a road block with information. Am I looking for the wrong things? Is the information even out there? The lack of good information doesn't deter him as he continues his search and the reasonable success and momentum of the ship repairs is enough to keep him upbeat and positive. With the mission still ahead he focusses his time on learning about the ship.

One day during his research Scythe calls Alex on the radio with a request...

Scythe wrote:"Az, has there been anything regarding the past crew on this ship?

When the radio call comes in Alex smiles, Yes, it is a mess for sure. Alex keys up the radio and uses the team channel, maybe someone else has info as well. "It is a strange ship for sure. The majority of the ship is Golgan. Would the focus object be something general or would it be more personal? Maybe I can find a ship log with the personnel that were assigned to that ship from the VI on the ship? The Golgan ship was named the Grouse. I did a search for it and have come up with nothing. The captain's name was Doran Keck. He was an unremarkable man. Died in route to the Golgan Republic. Asphyxiation due to faulty vac suit. I'll see if I can find anything else out about Doran, then I will see if I can get a crew manifest." After making the suggestion and having exhausted his own search subject Alex decides to search for records of any ships Doran have captained. After the search he makes his way out to the Rogue to check on progress and work with the ship's VI.

On the ship Alex makes his way tot he engineering terminal and attempts to verbally interface with the VI, Let's try this out. "NE-VI-3827, this is Captain Alex, is audio interface working properly?" If the Audio interface is working properly Alex will continue to use it and ask the following questions. If the audio interface is not installed he will ask the questions using the keyboard and follow up with the Technicians to make sure they complete the task before leaving.

Location at the end of post: Engineering on the ship.

Questions for the VI
Do you have a ship log or manifest detailing the crew members of the Grouse? If yes, please provide the list list and information of the crew digitally.
Do you have any further information on what started the incident while we were in space?
What caused the cannon to fire during the incident?
We may have an entity on board, it would have a special item, something special to it. Would you have any thoughts on this?
What systems are you currently integrated into?
Can we change your designation? Maybe something like NV?
Can you scan your current systems for anything else that may need looking after before we leave?

Alvidan is glad that there was no trouble on the way to the bar, so now he has to explain his problem.

He begins, "You may have heard we cam back via Recaller with our trip about half finished?"

OOC Comments
Recaller is a nickname for the device that warps ships back to Center.

Whether or not his contact has heard, Alvidan will continue, "Well we had a few problems, and one of them is that there is an entity inhabiting the ship. When I was trying to localize the damage, I came into mental contact with the entity. As a result I am suffering from a phobia of being along. I need to get that fixed, or I will not be much use to anyone."

An assassin who can not work alone is pretty much useless...and even an engineer has to work alone pretty often, thinks Alvidan.

He adds, "Anyone who can cure problems in the head has to get in the head, one way or another. It seemed a bad idea to let an outsider into my head, so I came seeking an insider."

He is doing the right thing and protecting Sunaj secrets, so they should be willing to help him in return...though they may need him to do something in return.

The man stares at Alvidan blankly for several long seconds before speaking. "You're what, scared of being alone." He stops and begins laughing uncontrollably, this goes on for several minutes, every time he calms down and looks back at Alvidan, he busts out laughing again. Eventually he calms down. "That's a great joke, what are you seriously here for... because if it's for that I have no idea what you expect from me. Deal with it on your own, like a man." The hulking Atlantean says. "So what is it, because I'm too busy to deal with nonsense?"

(Rolls carried over)

Alvidan replies, visibly restraining his temper, "I am totally serious, it is an irrational phobia caused by psychic trauma. I need a person who can help me cure it so I can function."

He admits to himself, It probably does sound funny, but it is not when it is you suffering it.

The large Atlantean turns his head to Alvidan. "Deal with it then. Either your with us or your a liability. In either case get out of my sight." The tone of his voice is measured and it causes Alvidan's fight/fight responses to flare up.

Raz tilts his head to the side. "Please show me." Raz will follow the tech to the galley and look over the destruction curiously. What the hell? Why were they shooting? Oh the ghost. Wow. They need to work on their marksmanship. Raz will look to the tech and shake his head. "Yes, please replace the items here and repair the damage. I am not sure who was shooting but they should not have a weapon ever again."

Raz will then go and make sure the VI interface is installed correctly.
Mechanical Engineer-- 1d100 = 3/60% (Install the VI interface)
Computer Operations-- 1d100 = 21/70% (Sync the interface with the VI system)

Raz will then call up Az on the radio, "Alex, The VI interface is up and running. Should be good for you to access at your leisure."

Pertinax does not remember much of his previous visits to his Center, but he knows that he has spent some time. Were you there for a mission or just in transit? How many times in total? Less than a half a dozen. How long? You definitely did not spend any of your recreation time here. It is teeming with non-Tarlok engaging in free trade and expressing themselves freely. It lacks a military junta or some kind of authority to tamp things down. And it is all the more chaotic for the damage that has been done by the Minion Wars. Pertinax assumes that this is what Center always looks like, glibly scanning the wreckage as if it confirmed that this was all beneath him, that for all the wealth and aliens that passed through there it paled in comparison to the greatest cities on Vuulok. His first rounds of the upper levels do not give him a steady footing. Shockingly.

Likewise, Pertinax does not feel especially comfortable around the Rogue as a crew of alien techs repairs the ship. He does linger around to make sure that they do are not spies or assassins. He will take note of any suspicious activity he sees. He also patrols around to look for any signs of supernatural activity, including the manifestation of ugglies. Where are they coming from and do they appear in regular intervals? If he finds any trace of supernatural activity, he will use sense other psionic activity (-4 I.S.P.) and communing with spirits (-6 I.S.P.) to track down the entity or entities. In case he uses the latter ability to simply identify where a ghost might be lurking. He would not ask any questions, but he would listen, carefully, and not react. The goal is to see if the haunting entity or entities are bound to any specific parts of the ship.

When he is done Pertinax will approach Scythe. "I lost track of Vidan, but I suspect he is not going to find an exorcist." This is his idea of small talk. "Which is just as well, because I do not like the idea of another alien traipsing about our ship. It is hard enough to monitor the ones that are already doing maintenance." The contempt is obvious, though if it is because they are aliens or because they doing manual labor is less clear. "I know you have been investigating the ghost as well. What have you found?" In response, Pertinax will report on what he has encountered on the Rogue.

He continues, "We have discussed my memory loss a little in the past. I mentioned that there was some collateral damage, and I have lost large chunks of my past. Well pieces come back from time to time, and I remember more of my past life as my brain heals. I recall encountering at least once in my life. It was... resolved.* Let me know if you have need of my abilities."

If Raz or Alex notify Pertianx about the upgrades to the V.I., in a quiet moment, Pertinax will approach the system. Using the mic he will ask, "Computer, tell me what you know about the kittens." If he is satisfied by that answer, he will ask it for its handle, what systems it oversees, and gathers as much general information about the ship and V.I. as possible.

* You stare at your swoopboss, the only dreadlor to rise to that rank under your command. He is standing in the middle of the corpses his brothers arranged in some demonic pattern, covered in their blood and naked save for an amulet wrapped around his wrist, imitating your style. The amulet was the mission, but then it became a crisis during the return flight.

It smiles. "He can't take the amulet off," it sings, spinning and pointing at the dead. "And there's one more spot just... for... you."

It has killed half of your dreadlor. Things are past the point of containment, despite your stubborn refusal to admit otherwise. But now you have to admit you have tried everything, and it will not let the swoopboss go. You drop your gun, and open the airlock. Fear flashes in its eyes for a brief moment, and then it is sucked into the void of space along with everything else in the cargo bay, including vehicles, weapons, supplies, and the bodies of your dreadlor. With your free hand you hold on to the door latch. If it wasn't for the rest of your squadron, watching from the giant windows in engineering, you would let go. But there is only one thing worse than watching your men die, the idea of leaving them behind without a commander.

Scythe glances to the tarlok and offers a light nod. "I truly didn't expect him to find anything amid the current events on Center. Even if he did, they would undoubtedly overcharge and I agree." He pauses, looking on a nearby tech. "I'm not fond of more of these moving about the ship." He says, and Pertinax can hear the obvious irritation in his voice at their presence.

Pertinax wrote:"I know you have been investigating the ghost as well. What have you found?"

Scythe thinks a moment before laying it out. "Okay, this is what I've learned. This Entity, or Entities, were Harmful Entities. They live to cause terror and kill the living, nigh able to reasoned with. Usually, they are tied to some sort of focus object; something the living soul was attached too prior to their death. Usually small or personable. Never so large as a ship, for example." He begins. "When they aren't actively trying to murder, they can go dormant making them nearly impossible to detect. Right now, I can't sense a thing due to all of these ugglies being destroyed by the clean-up crew." He finishes.

Pertinax wrote:"We have discussed my memory loss a little in the past. I mentioned that there was some collateral damage, and I have lost large chunks of my past. It was... resolved.* Let me know if you have need of my abilities."

Scythe listens to this mild disclosure with moderate interest and nods. I'm sure his memory is quite colorful. Maybe it was some sort of defense mechanism to forget certain horrors. Perhaps I will need to watch for possible relapses. He thinks rather methodically before answering. "Will do. I'm still a little unsure as to the full scope of your abilities to be fair. I'm confident I can exercise a spirit armed with what I know now, the help from another could make it much easier." Scythe answers.

Bryke notifies Az Rael that it has returned- if He does not know already by coming through the front doors and security. The Promethean, back at HQ, checks in.

"Az Rael, Bryke is back at HQ, heading to this ones quarters. Will be ready to move out in 3 hours."

After the three hours of meditation and preparation(s). Bryke radios in again.

"Bryke, ready."

The Promethean makes sure to be prepared to move out before anything else. Packs and checks all its gear, rearranging some things. The Time Master, once finished, meditates to replenish its mystic storehouses.

How will this one introduce this gear to the group, especially Pertinax, the main reason for its purchase. Maybe we can break the ice with it, and he wont be as cantankerous. Or maybe he kills this one virtually, over and over and over, but again he is less cantankerous.. no that may cause him to think this one is unworthy to fight along side- causing it to be cantankerous all the more... conundrum.

Bryke, in its quarters, makes sure to be ready to go.

Home Sweet Landing Pad

Date & Time wrote:Day 50 since departure.
Time: Unknown and Unimportant really.
Temperature: 67 degrees with 50% Humidity.
Weather: None.

Skills
Scythe: Lore, Galactic and Alien (Know what to look for regarding Golgon ship parts/design): Golgan's are not much for aesthetics, and they're also not one to replace things regularly, which generally leave most people believing their ships and equipment are old and worn down and generally ugly. In the instance of what it means for the Scythe and the ship, a long day as 75% of the ship is of Golgan design.
Intelligence (Know what to look for regarding Golgon ship parts/design that may be sentimental; a favorite type of item or pattern): As above, think of how comics and movies stylize cold war russian stuff, bland and very utilitarian.
Research (Know what to look for regarding Golgon ship parts/design): Answered above.

Az Rael: Research (Search for ships that Doran Keck captained): Only one ship comes up, a Naruni transport named Flight of Fancy.
Research (Search for Grouse crew logs on board the Rogue through the VI) None found.
Intelligence (Sort through any information found and pick out important details): Not much to sort through.

Raz: Mechanical Engineer (Install the VI interface): Was just gonna have the Tech do it, but since you rolled, It is installed.
Computer Operations (Sync the interface with the VI system): Plug and play, all in working order.

Pertinax:Intelligence (Study the repair crew and make sure they are not planting any traps): They seem like nice enough folk doing a job.
Intelligence (Track any patterns for odd activity on the Rogue related to the Golgan ghost.): Nothing out of the ordinary seems to happen over the 2 weeks
Sense Psionics (Track any psionic activity on the Rogue that he might encounter and associate with a haunting entity): None sensed.
Computer Operations (Find more information about the V.I.): Not much more to offer, it's an intelligent engineering program designed by some schlub wageslave working for Naruni. It has limited ability to affect the ship, and really is more useful as a reference tool than anything else.

Exorcising the Ship
Scythe

Scythe spends a long time digging through records on the ship, and doesn't get a real straight answer. It seems that when Dr. Corey built the monstrosity that is the Rogue, it was more as a platform for his experimental weapon than a want for a ship. So any logs that the insane doctor did make were more geared towards that project versus what parts are from where. From a visual perspective a large majority of the ship is of Golgan make, including the sundries like the furniture and other basic amenities. The Naruni ship seems to be focused mainly in the electronics, with engineering having a great deal of Naruni components and the cockpit having mostly Naruni terminals. While it is know that there is a third ship involved in the construction of the Rogue, its presence isn't readily seen. Scythe's knowledge of ghosts, is such that the can be tied to nearly anything, but it usually is something of sentimental value to them. Which just leaves the Demi-god with more questions than answers. The most basic thought does occur to Scythe though. While the ghosts are dormant they're not a problem, and when they're not dormant, he can not more readily deal with them with his new spell knowledge.

In the works
Raz

Raz keeps himself busy working on the ship. After a conversation with a tech about the Galley, he goes back to it. At the end of the two weeks, Raz is mostly sure that the modifications will work, but that will require either another incident or test of some manner to actually know for sure.

A bit of shopping
Bryke

Bryke happy with his shopping makes it back to base and prepares for the inevitability of leaving again.

Learn history, it'll be fun they say.
Az Rael

Az Rael now having an real easy way to chat with the engineering VI runs a series of questions by it.

"Do you have a ship log or manifest detailing the crew members of the Grouse?" Az Rael asks.

The VI seems to think for a moment. "I do not. That ships manifests are likely in some other system." The VI answers in a cheerful digitized voice that sounds neither masquiline of feminine.

"Do you have any further information on what started the incident while we were in space?" Az Rael asks.

"From what I can suss out from data compiled before the incident. A fault in the automated vermin control system allowed an infestation of Phase Weevils to make a meal of approximately 18% of the ships internal wiring, which caused a fault in the Collision Cannon, which caused the ships power grid to generally fail in a cascading manner." The VI responds in a chipper manner.

"What caused the cannon to fire during the incident?" Az Rael asks.

"Power surge due to faulty wiring." The VI answers promptly.

"We may have an entity on board, it would have a special item, something special to it. Would you have any thoughts on this?" Az Rael asks.

"This is not something I have knowledge of." The VI answers a hint of sadness in it digitized voice.

"What systems are you currently integrated into?" Az Rael asks.

"Limited access to Engineering. Which includes the ships drives, FTL, the Reactor, and Gravity Control" The VI spouts out.

"Can we change your designation? Maybe something like NV?" Az Rael asks.

"If you'd like, you just have to word it as a command." The VI responds.

"Can you scan your current systems for anything else that may need looking after before we leave?" Az Rael asks.

"Of the systems I am attached to, everything seems to be in the green, so I could not advise any further."

Paranoia in the city.
Pertinax

Pertinax being Pertinax does what he does best, stalks around. First it's "spying" on the techs, who seem like honest hardworking folks. Then it's using psychic abilities to find loose spirits, of which none seem to want to be found. Then it's back to stalking the VI, which also doesn't yield much new information, but does yield many new images of Kittens for Pertinax's viewing pleasure. Finally in the end Pertinax is left with his own thoughts.

The Present
General Information

The ship is as repaired as it's going to get, new appliances in the Galley. wiring new and shiny in the bulkheads, some safety protocols now in place for the ships power center, and a theoretical fix to the temperamental Collision Cannon. Its on this fourteenth day on Center that the being known as Holt comes back. "Ship seems functional again, the techs have sent me the report, and while I don't understand most of it, Kruxxis signed off on it and I know he understands it. So that business is completed. I am assuming you guys will be rushing off to finish the mission now?" Holt asks with a hint of hopefulness in his voice.

Percerption (29%): 1d100 = 51
JIC: 1d20 = 7
JIC%: 1d100 = 39

Alvidan points at the contact, "You, sir, are not thinking. I came here because I know too much to get a cure from anyone who is not thoroughly vetted. If I walk out that door without a means to get a cure, all the time and resources invested in my training is instantly lost, and I become a liability. If you, on your sole discretion, decide to turn an asset who has a reparable flaw into a liability, then your handlers are likely to decide that you also are a liability to the organization. It will be interesting to see which one of us survives longer in that eventuality."

Alvidan raises his mind block, in case this guy might be reading his mind.

Alvidan thinks (once his mind is nearly unreadable), This is not what one expects from a fellow in an organization. Either this guy is stupid, or he is testing me. Hopefully he is not stupid, because they I have to kill him before I go.

(Spent this round: 4 ISP)

Out loud, he continues, "The only other feasible course of action is to locate an intelligence I can carry with me so that I do not have to be alone, while still being functionally alone. Something like a rune weapon or a powerful portable computer with a VI construct. I remain loyal, THAT is why I can not seek help that would get to know me too well. When I leave, I will head to the Marketplace level to see if I can find anything that can do the job."

Internally, he adds, Even if he is an idiot, I would prefer not to fight him. I would also prefer not to have other assassins after me to kill me, so I need to make it plain I am not a danger to the organization.

Scythe wrote:"Okay, this is what I've learned. This Entity, or Entities, were Harmful Entities. They live to cause terror and kill the living, nigh able to reasoned with. Usually, they are tied to some sort of focus object; something the living soul was attached too prior to their death. Usually small or personable. Never so large as a ship, for example. When they aren't actively trying to murder, they can go dormant making them nearly impossible to detect. Right now, I can't sense a thing due to all of these ugglies being destroyed by the clean-up crew."

Pertinax nods. "I remember encountering at least one Harmful Entity in the past. We have discussed my memory loss a little..."* he continues the conversation from the previous post.

Scythe wrote:"Will do. I'm still a little unsure as to the full scope of your abilities to be fair. I'm confident I can exercise a spirit armed with what I know now, the help from another could make it much easier."

"Ironically enough, I do not know the full scope of my abilities right now either," he says, with almost a bemused tone in his voice. "I could exorcise entities at one point, but erasing one's own memory is, like all forms of self-inflicted brain damage, an imperfect art. I might be able to flex that mental muscle again one day, but for now all I can do is commune with the spirits. And on that note, I did not find anything during my patrols other than that the techs are well behaved. Perhaps too well behaved.

"Either way, all is quiet. I suspect that the Entity will lay dormant for the time being. Our best strategy is to do regular patrols and report any suspicious activity. Avoid provoking it, and if it wakens we neutralize it quickly."

In his free time, Pertinax will continue to ask the V.I. for more information on kittens. Each time it is a different array of kittens, different breeds in no particular order all doing some sort of adorable activity from pouncing on comically large ball of yarn to rolling in freshly washed blankets to 'hanging in there'. It is therapeutic, and the more kittens he sees the less hostile he gets to the ship (though the Rogue is still is dumb name) and his teammates (you are certain none are actively plotting against you at the moment), as if reflecting on that which is his antithesis seems to wash away his anxieties and guilts. The kittens can survive, and even thrive, despite not having an exoskeleton or king fingers. And they are so soft. So so soft. He sighs contentedly at the gentle scroll of images. When he is down he goes to the far corner of engineering and then shuffles through the things he keeps stored in a secret cache in the room (a few documents about his past life as a Dreadmaster, nothing especially informative). It is a decoy, anyone spying on him will assume that he is lurking in engineering to keep a few personal effects hidden from the team; they must not know about the kittens.

On the day of launch, Pertinax will sit in the co-pilot seat waiting for Alex. He will radiate a slight peevishness at being co-pilot, but he will not make a comment.

*You are staring at the cold and quite literally dead eyes of a Kreeghor Legionnaire. Its reanimated armor is standing between you and a room full of unarmed TGE intelligence officers coordinating the transport of a new experimental power armor, in its arms two of your dreadlor in its arms, one dead and one still alive and worth saving. Despite being very much brute force types while alive, this one shows an uncharacteristic canny from the beyond the grave. And yet, it still says things like, DEATH TO THE TRANSGALACTIC EMPIRE AND ALL ITS SUBJECTS
"Oh, you want to kill all the idiots in the other room? you say cooly. You had wondered what had set off the Entity. You had assumed Broxus, now in the armor's grip, had accidentally set off a trap, but maybe he did not deserve to die after all. Now you think the armor had been put in in this hall as decoration, and no one knew it is haunted. "Well we are here to kill them too. So let me offer you a compromise. We shall enter that dining hall together, kill all the officers, their attendants, and the civilian staff. Then we can sort our own issues out."
The armor drops both of your dreadlor and freezes in place. "Really?"
"Yes."
"I can live with that."
It lets out a small chortle at its joke. You laugh, but only because you know that four of the TGE officers are trained magicians and at least one of them will make a move to exorcise the armor first. You will laugh again when you pick up the now inert armor. Live with that.

(Rolls carried over)
Eventually, Alvidan returns to the ship empty-handed. He used public transportation again, as he knows it tends to always have people around. The problem is price mainly. There are small computers with a VI, but they cost far more than he can afford. Similarly rune items can theoretically be found, but cost on the same level as the repairs to the ship. He simply does not have millions of credits to his name.

He tells himself, For now, I will simply have to keep going. Even if I could find someone I could trust to treat me, it would take months from what little I can find on the subject. I will just have to stay where I know that people are and try to work out some kind of solution.

If he can not find a solution, he is not sure what he can do. He can function marginally by staying with others most of the time...but not as what he is trained to be. An Assassin works alone.

In the meantime, he has work to do...at least when he is working he can keep his mind off his fears.

He will use his telemechanics to check over the ship, one system at a time, to make certain everything is in working order. He will take his assigned duty station when it comes time to leave.

Telemechanics (88%): 1d100 = 30 - To check that everything is in working order (but avoids using it in the area of the Collision Cannon lest he accidentally contact the entity again)

Other possibly required skills: (depending on where he is assigned)
Sensory Equipment (60%): 1d100 = 94
Navigation: Space (45%): 1d100 = 82
Radio: Basic (50%): 1d100 = 14
Electronics: Basic (50%): 1d100 = 77

Exorcising the Ship wrote:Scythe spends a long time digging through records on the ship, and doesn't get a real straight answer.

Scythe resigns to live and let live for now upon realizing the ghosts are harmless if dormant. Live and let live, for now. Though shall their presence be felt again, I shall purge them from this ship. The restless and malicious souls of the dead have no place here. Scythe resigns to his blade, adamant in his will to purge them should they become active again. I must look into proper ways to confine, contain and control such malicious beings. I could certainly use them in my plans though their loyalty is fickle at best. He muses. Yes, but be cautious. They may find you as the intruder instead of the other way around and even a malicious entity such as that could fight to defend its territory. His blade responds with its usually logical methodology.

Pertinax speaking to him brings him back to the sight at hand.

Pertinax wrote:"Ironically enough, I do not know the full scope of my abilities right now either," he says, with almost a bemused tone in his voice. "I could exorcise entities at one point, but erasing one's own memory is, like all forms of self-inflicted brain damage, an imperfect art. "Either way, all is quiet. I suspect that the Entity will lay dormant for the time being. Our best strategy is to do regular patrols and report any suspicious activity. Avoid provoking it, and if it wakens we neutralize it quickly."

Scythe nods in agreement. "I cannot honestly imagine losing my memory in such a way, though I suppose time will tell as to your full capabilities. Communing with them will, at the least, be helpful in possible information gathering and the like." Scythe states, pausing before adding. "I would advise against attempting to rationalize with harmful entities. They are, at best, unwelcomed inhabitants and at worst, dangerous time bombs. I agree; we avoid provoking it and when it awakens, we deal with it. I suspect it'll awaken in deep space as it did before, for none of us did anything worth provoking it I would think." He stops his sentence. Well, I can't account for the others on this ship, and a few of them were questionable. He adds, "Intentionally provoking it, anyways." He finishes.

Scythe will remain steadfast, resigning to a few hours of meditation here and there and a walk through of the ship daily. He'll check areas like the mess, the area he found the golgon ghost initially, the comm and bridge rooms more thoroughly.

On the day of launch, Scythe will enter the bridge. "I will take Navigation." Scythe says plainly. He takes a seat and weaves his hand while softly saying 'Stella Navigatio' and his mind is flooded with a star map of the galaxies he occupies. Feeling as though he can literally see the paths between stars in his mind, the smallest of smiles creeps across his lips as he guides his hands across the map in his mind. He'll then use the navigation system of the Rogue and load a plotted course through the vastness of dark space to their intended destination. Tess, I need your knowledge as I am still unaccustomed to the operations of ships as a whole. Scythe states, calling on his blade to aid him.

Raz does not solely work on the ship during his time back in port. He will take an afternoon to check his non-attributable electronic message center for any messages from his not so straight GSA Agent. Raz will check the messages from a computer at a cafe hiding his signal among the noise. Raz will also check on the status of the RATS he encountered before he met the Rogues. Raz will be looking to find if they have recovered from the losses they suffered and if they are currently looking for vengeance or if they have decided to pursue other ventures.

Computer Operations-- 1d100 = 39/70% (Accessing the message center)
Computer Hacking-- 1d100 = 17/39% (Accessing Black Market Information on the RATS current activities)

Intelligence-- 1d100 = 33/49% (Ensuring no one is following him back to the Rogues HQ)

Over the days Raz begins to feel more comfortable in the engine room of the ship. I know I should be planning more for the future ventures but these simple mechanical problems are nice to fix. I think having a maintenance shop would be a good front. Eventually. When all the repairs are finished Raz will radio Az, "Alex. Ship is good to go. I would recommend running a stress test if possible before going anywhere, but the board is green if you want to leave."

"If you'd like, you just have to word it as a command." The VI responds.

When the VI answers and they talk Alex is left with a satisfied feeling, This is so much more efficient, he thinks to himself. He answers the VI, "Yes, please set designation to NV, this will making addressing you easier and quicker." Alex then keys his radio tot he team channel and Address Raz, "Raz, I would like the VI integrated into more of the ship. Please give it access to the designated team radio channel. I would also like it to have access to Navigation and Sensors. Please leave out Life support and the Cannon for now. If the need arises we can address those at a later time. Please also give the VI access to whatever systems control the ship manifest and logs." Alex releases the channel then remembers he chained the VI designation and keys the radio again, "I almost forgot, I changed the VI designation to NV for ease of access"

Releasing the channel Alex wonders, Will anyone have anything to say about giving the VI more access to the ship? It makes sense, better help with automated controls. Quicker response to alerts and sensor readings. Unless. Dark thoughts and worry enter his mind, If it was part of the problem. The second guessing only last for a moment, It is a good call. It will help us next time.

Alex address the VI again, "NV, Raz will be working to integrate you further into the ship systems. I have two tasks for you. Once you have been integrated further, please access the ship logs and manifest for the Golgan crew logs. Send this information to my quarters so I can review it later. The second task, I want you to monitor system status, if you detect anything outside of standard parameters please let me know immediately. Thank you NV"

Ready to leave

Alex takes a moment to send a quick message to his mother before they leave,

Code: Select all
Mother, We are leaving out again. It will be a couple months before my return. I will tell you all about it when I get back. We are leaving center tomorrow. If you need me to pick anything up while I am out please let me know. Otherwise I will message you when I get back. Tell dad I miss him. Alex

He makes sure all the equipment needed is on the rogue and looks her over one time walking through the halls confidently, Not new but surely ready, and in better shape than we found her. Alex makes his way to his quarters stopping by the galley to see how repairs went, Not my finest moment, he thinks to himself while he makes a cup of coffee. Settled and unpacked He makes his way to the bridge and takes a seat next to Pertinax, "You ready to try this again?" he asks with a smile. "Alvidan, radio request our take off pattern." He looks over at Scythe in Navigation, "Do you have our route all planned out?"

Assuming everything is in order Alex will pilot the ship into Orbit around center. Once they are in orbit he will request the FTL navigation plans, plug them in and get the crew back in route to the mission. Once they are in route he will activate the team comms, "Well gentlemen, He pauses slightly. and promethean." he chuckles slightly not knowing how or if Bryke even identifies himself. "Here goes take two. Hopefully it is a better trip out."

Releasing the radio, Alex asks Pertinax nonchalantly, "How do you address a promethean?" He shakes his head not fully capable of understanding what it would be like to be a singular sex race. Then he wonders if he has misjudged Pertinax and turns to ask, "Do Tarlock have females?"

Alex wrote:"You ready to try this again?"

With a curt nod, Pertinax aides in take off. He notices that Alex is a bit shaky on departure but does his best to keep to the ship steady.

"Are we really doing this again?" he deadpans without moving his head. He then turns to the radio and says, "Center, this is the Rogue requesting clearance for departure..."

Alex wrote:"How do you address a promethean?"

"I do not." Pertinax replies. He keeps his attention on the ship. Going over the controls and gauges fastidiously as he prepares for entering FTL travel. "Every Promethean I have ever encountered has opened fire on me and my Dreadlor without provocation. I would not put it past the psionic master in weapons to suddenly go on a homicidal rage one day. They waffle between being all-powerful space gods and brooding killers looking for a reason to find new and creative ways to depopulate the The Three Galaxies. We would all be better off if every single one of them left Phase World and found a fourth galaxy to be pompous assholes in."

He pauses for a half a beat, in between continuing his train of thought and changing the subject, and says "Then the Tarlok Empire rise to power, conquer all the inferiors, and then find that galaxy and kill them all."

Alex wrote:"Do Tarlock have females?"

As he looks sideways at Alex, Pertinax's 'gills' flare open but then contract slowly. He could knife the kid for asking that kind of question. There is the kind of talk that happens between fellow soldiers, even of the 'of fortune' variety, and then there asking vulgar questions about mothers. He thought Alex would have known better, even if he was still a child. And then he pauses, because Alex is a child, and he seems to be asking a genuine question. He wants to know about the Tarlok species, but being young and naive he did it in the most artless way possible. His dark eyes like the expansive pupils on a kitten caught on a tattered pillow. You would not snap the kitten's neck, and you will not do the same to the cat's paw.

Pertinax makes a subtle coughing noise and then says, "Yes, tarlo, as we call our females, are revered. They are the lifegivers: mothers, caretakers, nurses. They are the rocks, the very foundation of our society. My mother is a prime example. Mater was the pillar of our household. She raised all 156 of us with a steady hand, and she produced not a single Shertar to show for it. All 116 of my brothers served in the Tarlok military... granted, some of us have disappointed her and the Tarlok command, but we have all had storied careers and done what we could in service of our Empire. And Mater also birthed 39 tarlo who are all proud mothers, and their children are all proud soldiers and they too shall do their part for the glory of the Tarlok Empire. And every Tarlok does his duty knowing it makes his mother proud as well."

He pauses as he wants to ask the question delicately. "Now tell me, does your species pay proper respect to your mothers?"

Alex flies along Perfectly. Taking off smoothly, listening to Pertinax's reply when he says, "156 of us" Alex turns quickly to look at Pertinax taking the controls with him only slightly then correcting the flight path. 156 Alex shakes his head in disbelief then turns his attention back to flying. When do they have time for war? he silently contemplates the thought, 156?! Don't they sleep? They're like rabbits!

When Pertinax ask Alex about his species mother's he snaps back to focus, We respect our mothers, he thinks to himself. He turns to Pertinax once again slightly taking the controls with him. "We respect our mothers. They fight along side the men. They fight just as hard for the cause..." When he realizes his emotion is getting the better of him and he may be saying to much he stops and turns back to the console.

"The family is the cause" he says quickly, pausing for a brief second then finishing more calmly, "Nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her family. Is it the same for Tarlo? Are they as fierce in your species?" You think of your mother and you lose control. Pull it together. Alex chastises himself internally. Angry at the fact he was so close to slipping up.

Scythe will cast Stellar Navigation once a day, ensuring they are still on course and make adjustments as needed. Afterwards, he will meditate to recover the spent magical energy.

He will also activate his sense the Supernatural once a day to check for malevolent presences and then mediate to recover the spent mental energies.

He thinks, On a planet as busy as this, you need to get clearance for your orbit and exit vector or you will risk hitting something.

Once we are on the way, he will offer to help with the programming to set up for the VI to interface with other systems. He will suggest, "We need to install a manual cutoff, in case something hacks the system. The last thing we need is to have our ship out of our control in an emergency."

Skills
Raz
Computer Hacking (Accessing Black Market Information on the RATS current activities) - The RATS have been laying low it seems - they lost a large number of members, and there has been word of incursions into their turf that have gone largely unanswered. There are rumors, however, of a reptilian entity preying on interloping gang members, but it has not been caught on video, and the only eyewitness to report seeing anything was too confused and scared to be coherent.
Computer Programming (Establish a network bridge from the VI into the Navigation system) - Response below.

Raz

Acting on orders from Az Rael, Raz sets to work attempting to grant access to navigation systems to NV, the newly-christened but not in any sense new ship's VI. He succeeds, however briefly, in establishing a network, before the links go dead.

NV's new voice comes over the freshly-installed vocal interface.

"ERROR 405. That action is contraindicated. Network Terminated."

After a moment, NV adds, "Please do not attempt to re-establish network."

As the crew take their stations there is a bit of a refreshed sensation in the Rogue - and as Az Rael engages the engines, he is met with a much quieter, much more satisfying hum from the engine than previously. It is only in retrospect that you and Raz can now hear how much of a burden on the ship's power system the Collision Cannon was causing, and consequently how much has been alleviated by rewiring it.

Alvidan, in the Comms station, radios Center Ground Control and receives approval and a course heading to take the Rogue to orbit. Once in orbit around Center, Scythe lays in his course to the Thundercloud galaxy, to Thraxus' mysterious planet coordinates. Shortly thereafter, the Rogue makes the jump to FTL.

Alvidan
During transit Alvidan spends much of his time in the company of Az Rael, Pertinax, and Scythe on the bridge, but on occasion necessity demands that he be alone, and with pulse racing and a light sheen of sweat he races to fulfill whatever personal or duty obligation has called him away before returning to his bridge assignment. Nights are interminable, and he finds himself only able to lightly nap, and even then, only in the corridor outside the quarters of the other members, where he can hear their deep, even breaths as they sleep. The lack of sleep begins to wear him down, causing him to be cranky and irritable. However, one day, during the second week of travel, he is once again called away from the bridge, and, as he gets up, he notices his pulse no longer races, he is no longer filled with dread. That night, and the nights that follow, are among the best nights of sleep Alvidan has ever had.

The trip is a couple of months in duration, and the entire team breathes a sigh of relief when the ship passes the point at which the Rogue experienced cascading failures on the previous trip, and there are no indications of abnormal engine activity or faulty processes. the Rogue drops out of FTL on cue, and the system bearing Thraxus' coordinates and description stands arrayed before you, glistening in the black. Initial scans of the planet show not much more than ruins - the planet is wrecked, it seems, from an apocalyptic war.

Perception [38%]: 1d100 = 27

If Scythe's visor were down, he would be visibly pleased at the application and following success of his newly acquired spell. Excellent. I believe I finally have found a spot on this vessel I can properly attend too. Scythe thinks silently to himself.

Scythe himself will spend most of his time on the bridge, only leaving for four hours at a time to meditate and then return. Once a day, the demigod will also seek out the mess hall for some food that he will eat quickly before returning to the bridge. The last thing we need is to veer off course. He thinks to himself.

When they pass the point of distress, Scythe notes an obvious lack of presence from the ghosts that had plagued them previously and scowls at the unfinished business. Ticking time bombs, or gone for good. He discusses with his blade. A moment of peace, at the very least. They will not be the last entities we encounter and now we are prepared. Whether they return or not, you have the means to expel them now. His blade retorts with its logical approach to the situation causing the mage to sigh. I appreciate your logic, Tessa, I do. But sometimes the megaverse doesn't follow the rules of logic. He responds. Yes and in those times, you, Aevum, will need to be ready. I cannot hold all the answers no matter how much I want too. Tessa responds, prompting a nod and slight sigh. Much of his time over the past several weeks has been spent similarly, with recurring discussions with his blade.

When they arrive at the planet, Scythe reads the reports and his face hardens. Glancing around, he'll queue his radio for those not on the bridge. "We've arrived at Thraxus's mystery planet. It seems to have been overtaken by an apocalyptic war and is not much more than ruins. We must tread with caution. The warring factions could still exist, or whatever caused this could still be around, and we don't need to be caught in the middle of whatever is left."

Scythe will leave the Nav terminal and peer over whomever is running the sensor systems and use his knowledge to try to come up with viable reasons to the carnage below. Communing with his Blade in the Meantime. Tessa. I'll need your mind here. As we garner information, catalog it to see if we can answer the following questions. Who are these people (Anthropology)?; What was the cause of this carnage (Anthropolgy + Damage Control and Disaster Response]?; Can we expect any intervention from the Consortium, TGE, or other space force, regarding this planet (Law, Space, CCW and PW)?

[Skills]
Lore, Dimensions [63%]: 1d100 = 51 (Do the sensors reveal anything that could point to a dimensional threat causing this? Something foreign to the world)

Intelligence [58%]: 1d100 = 45 (In a vain attempt to put two and two together. Does it look like this damage was caused by a natural cataclysm, by warring factions, or by something else all together?)

[Tessa will rerun these skills as we garner more information to attempt to answer the questions above, and more as they come to us]
Tessa, Anthropology [98%]: 1d100 = 75
Tessa, Law: Space, CCW, and PW [98%]: 1d100 = 86

JIC: 1d20 = 19 and 1d100 = 3

Alex is in his quarters when the rogues arrive at the planet and Scythe radios the team.

Scythe wrote:When they arrive at the planet, Scythe reads the reports and his face hardens.

He keys up the team channel to reply, "I’m on my way to the bridge now.” and then makes his way to the bridge, That went smoother, the repairs were worthwhile, he thinks to himself on the way. This captain thing isn’t so bad when you get the hang of it. Smiling and feeling confident he enters the bridge and looks at the video screens and current sensor logs.

Seeing the destruction their initial scans show Alex wonders, Could this shield even still be intact? Alex addresses the crew using the team radio channel as well for those not on the bridge currently. ”Ok, so the planet doesn’t look very welcoming. We have a couple things to do first. We need to locate the main continent, or the largest land mass. Then locate the coordinates to the ruin that Thraxus provided. Once we do, I want to take the ship in closer.” He pauses for a moment considering the plan. We are constantly without intel; we need to be cautious here. We need to scout first.

Alex Continues, ”Bryke, I want you to take the two point defense drones into atmosphere and drop them off just below 150’. Once you have done so return to the ship, stay near the ship and be prepared to engage if a threat arises. Make as many sensor scans as you can on your way in and out. Scythe, I want you on the remote for the drones. I want you to run them through the ruin area and a good distance out. I want full scans of everything in the area. I want no surprises when we move in on foot. Alvidan, I want you on our ship’s sensor array. We will need to be withing 500 miles of the drones for controls. I am hoping that scans at a closer distance will give us better info. We are looking for life, threats, and any possible underground tunnels. Expand the scans to the entire continent if possible. As far out as you can get anyway. Pertinax, stay fluid, we may need help on sensors or weapon systems should an issue arise. I will also need you in the copilot seat as I pilot the rogue down to 500 miles and hold the ship there. Raz, I want you on weapon station. If something goes down I want to be prepared. Any questions?”

Alex will make his way to the communication console and do a sweep of radio signals on the planet. After taking a moment or two to review the current sensors logs Az Rael will take the pilot seat, speaking out loud to whoever has made it to the Bridge at that point, ”I have no intention of putting boots on the planet’s surface until we have a good idea of what is down there. All that time getting here, a little more time on the ship won’t hurt us.”

Scythe offers a short nod "Got it." He answers and moves away from the sensor systems and down to the cargo hold to link his W-F1's HUD to the drones if possible, otherwise use their command interface and ensure it is operating properly.

He'll make his way back to the Bridge as Bryke readiest to get them into position. Once in position, Scythe will begin to remotely pilot the pair of drones and run a sweep of the area Az indicated.

Az wrote:”I have no intention of putting boots on the planet’s surface until we have a good idea of what is down there. All that time getting here, a little more time on the ship won’t hurt us.”

Scythe glances over amid his sweep and nods. He's settling in nicely, should make steering the course of events easier. Scythe muses. "Smart call. I'll relay what the drones find, and will pull them out should anything get questionable." Scythe responds, reaffirming Az's request.

Raz is surprised at the developments with the RATS, but he logs the information and begins to make plans to possibly assist them in some way if they are still around when he returns. But those plans are on the back burner as he focuses on NV for most of the trip out to their location. When given the error Raz queries NV, "And why would the network be causing an error? Let me guess separate system with a different code language? Or do you just not like you neighbor?" Either way Raz will continue to look over the code that makes up NV to see what it's limits are and if it is truly a VI. Also to see what things may be able to be tweaked in the future.

Computer Programming-- 1d100 = 88/50% (Look through the code of the VI, Looking for Skills or knowledge things that would make the VI useful)
Computer Programming-- 1d100 = 8/50% (Check the limitations of the VI code)
Computer Programming-- 1d100 = 41/50% (Copy the VI code to a unused standalone (Non-Networked) computer to test modifications without risk to the ship, Raz is looking to develop a VI program that can infiltrate computer networks without alerting security programs. Eventually he wants to create a program that can take control of computer systems and hand Raz direct control of them.)
Computer Programming-- 1d100 = 5/50%(See what can be modified in the code without breaking the VI)

Raz is please with the results of the work put into the ship as it sound noticeably better as it flies and does not sound like it is struggling to keep going. Glad we were able to get the new system installed. I knew it would help but I was not aware of just how much strain the system was under before. It was likely to go down at anytime. We just got lucky we were not in a fight when it happened.

When Az comes over the radio asking Raz to get on a gun, Raz gives a small shake of the head, as he is alone in the engine room, "Sure thing Alex. I'll be there." Raz finds the gunnery station closest to the engine room, just in case he is needed back in there. Raz gets his first good look at the planet and the level of destruction here through the gunnery station, Well. May not be a good spot to set up a black market. Or it might be the perfect place to set up a black market. Might be some good salvage, Its off of most charts. Maybe the RATS could relocate here, they would get a fresh start and I could have them running a grey trade market from here. Eventually establish a small city supported by the grey market. It could work. Need a little more brain juice but its a start. There might even be an existing grey market rip for a take over.

Recent Past
Bryke spends most of its time while not covering its shift(s) on weapons station and flight prepping the Ghost for quick departures, sparring on the virtual system The Promethean purchased for the group. The Time Master introduces it to the Rogues with uncharacteristically child-like excitement and offers everyone to give it a go whenever they wish to, stating:
Good to keep our skills up,” briefly looking at Pertinax, “Or get the edge off.”

Present
The Time Master receives Az Rael's radio message and responds, “This one- moving.
Bryke returns the message a little more sharply than intended while heading to the armory to retrieve the two defense drones.
Does he think this one expendable, or capable- can go check his thoughts- no... rights to privacy on that.
The Promethean briefly struggles within. Thoughts and mannerisms of its former life as a gladiator pushing into the now, when given a mandate from anyone, even one that has shown he is not like the Dominator handler it once knew.
The Promethean heads to the armory.

[ooc: I am aware that the VI system is not connected to the armory OR there is not a VI system in the armory- the one in engineering is not connected. I am setting up something for a possible future for Bryke.]

Bryke waits for the response.

When Bryke finds that the VI is not connected to the armory or any other system than engineering The Promethean is irritated.

This is unsatisfactory, why would only one system in our ship be completely accessible via voice command. Ghost
The Time Master reaches out telekinetically and activates the kiosk that will allow signing the Drone(s) out. Grumbling about the inefficiency after that's done, Bryke heads to the Ghost, stations and preps the drones, varifying the link with Scythe via comms, then fires the ship up idling until Alvidan arrives. Touching flight systems and some controls, naturally to a telekinetic, with its mind.

Once the Tattoo Man is up and strapped in, The Promethean will take off and head to their destination. Drop off the drones and then, taking the ship back and to the starboard side of the Rogue and flying approximately 10-20 meters above it, wait "as sentry" in Ghost mode to get scans from the drones. Bryke makes sure to fly in a triangular pattern keeping good distance for the sensors from the drones as priority and distance from the rogue as second priority.

Alvidan spends the first few weeks of the voyage trying to avoid being alone, or on those occasions when he must be alone he tries to be so immersed in his work that he is unaware of being alone. Still, it winds up with long hours of fear when he can not avoid being alone and has noting immersive to do.

After some time, the fear seems to die down, in fact cutting off rather abruptly. This leaves him pondering the question of why it did so, The fear vanished as suddenly as it appeared, this implies it is not a natural event. Could the ghost cause such a thing by some kind of power?

He does not know, but it is an interesting theory. He will have to see if he can find out mote on the subject.

Computer Operation 55%: 1d100 = 82 to see what the computer has about ghosts

In the mean time, He tries to help out with many things. He tries to help out with setting up the ship to make the VI more generally available, but also setting off a cut-off in case of emergencies.

Computer Programming 60%: 1d100 = 36 To set up cut-off

When he hears about the refusal of the VI to connect to the Navigation system, he will attempt to find out why. First he will attempt a systems test to find out if there are physical issues, then he will check the programming for compatibility issues. He will avoid the use of his psychic powers until he has some clue what the problem is. He considers the possibility that there may be another VI or even a virus program, and intends to be cautious.

Computer Repair 40%: 1d100 = 71 To check physical systems

Finally, when we get where we are going, he will mention he can pilot robots, and will handle one of the drones if asked.

Upon reaching their destination, Pertinax aides Alex in putting the ship into a safe orbit. He studies the wrecked surface indifferently. Some species are simply inclined to self-destruction. He has seen it firsthand while conquering other planets and star systems in the name of the Tarlok Empire. Whole planets locked in civil war over some trivial disagreement; species hell-bent on killing themselves rather than thriving as a united population, and taking whole ecosystems with them. However, this could make conquering a planet easier, since then it was simply a matter of pitting one faction against another.

Of course, you cannot discount the idea that these primitives were destroyed by invaders. Yes, you have razed your fair share of planets in the past.

Alex wrote:"... Alvidan, I want you on our ship’s sensor array. We will need to be withing 500 miles of the drones for controls. I am hoping that scans at a closer distance will give us better info. The Dreadmaster brings the ship closer to the surface with a nod. "Confirmed 'Alex', we are descending down to 500 miles from surface." As he does this, he listens to ship's radios. He checks for any recording or broadcast that might relay what happened to the population. Perhaps there are survivors and they are sending signals to other survivors. Or maybe there are others searching the planet; he listens for coded messages as well.

After completing his tasks, Pertinax looks back to see that no one is operating the ship's sensors.

"Hrm? Where is that sidekick of yours?" he asks moving over to the ship's sensors. His 'gills' pulse open and closed several times as he looks over the sensor array. This is not a task the Dreadmaster is accustomed to doing. When he was in charge of his own units, he would typically delegate running the sensors to one of his Dreadlor. "He is not very good at following the chain of command, is he? I guess you can tolerate that to a certain degree from a 'friend'." He uses the same almost mocking tone on that final word he uses to say Alex's name. Then he continues: "I honestly do not understand why you keep that twerp around. He is constantly getting himself injured; it is only a matter of time before one of his idiocies puts the rest of the team at risk. And he has been behaving even stranger lately. I swear that I heard him pressed against the door to my sleeping quarters one night." He continues to read over the sensors. "I think all those blows to the head are affecting his mental health."
