Brute chuckles. "I'm sure you do." Odin's blood but this kid is dumb. Doesn't he realize he's in Century Station? Operation Overlord puts us under martial law - that means suspension of habeas corpus and a passel of other rights until the situation improves. It'll be a long time before he sees a lawyer.

CSPD wrote:"The Labyrinth is off limits, Brute. Director's orders. If you can get your crew to Kerguelen or Saratoba, we can initiate a pick-up. Until then you're on your own."

Brute keys his radio off and mutters to himself. "Funny how the Labyrinth is always off limits when CSPD is called out, but it's never off limits when we need to come here..."

He sighs. "Keep moving team. Let's get back to the APC and head back into town promptly. The sooner we do, the sooner we'll find Silicate." He continues marching Silver Serpent out, keeping pace with the rest of the team. As they walk, the flickering lights of the Labyrinth, the oppressive air, and the distant gunfire put him in mind of someplace... sometime... else. Some kind of spacecraft...

He remembers the nauseating ozone smell of burnt electronics. Sentinel did that, with his Annihilate spells. That was something else. He smiles. That was... real... Arching an eyebrow, Brute remembers. He remembers all of it. The Mechanoids, Asgard, the demons... the gods.

Presence... Presence was on that ship.

Brute keys open his Omega radio.

"Presence. This is Brute. What is your 20?"

As they walk, Brute will keep his eyes/ears/antennae alert for possible ambushes.

Brennet heads back with the others.
Depending on how heavy the cases are, he might be able to help carry 1 or 2. His rifle slung over his shoulder.
He can do about ~30 Lbs comfortably (without encumbrance penalties).

He quietly stays alert and watchful as they go.

That's a shame leaving all this down here .. I guess it will be out of the way. If we come back to salvage the rest soon it might still be here. Even if there are no clues to help our current job. We could at least sell all this stuff for some credits.

Jay chuckles to himself, Same shit different reality. This place reminds me of the Holy Lands back home. Basically a governmental no man's land. He shrugs a bit and says as he turns to Brute, "Hey Boss, you and Rocket Dog could zip all the cases to the APC. Black Dog can manhandle Silver Serpent and I'll guide the group out of here."

Stepping aside, he says to Brute, "I haven't seen Presence since we we down in that cavern. And she definitely wasn't there when we left. Maybe she was able to slip through the portal Maker went through. The only thing we can do now is get out of the Labyrinth and hope that she reports in. Hell, maybe she just freaked out at the fight and cut and run. With her super speed, none of us would have seen her go."

Jay gives Brute a nod after offering his suggestions then moves to the head of the group to guide the way out of these warrens.

Carrying his share of cases, Black Dog darts ahead, while nursing his wounds. He keeps close to the team but scouting the way ahead, looking for obvious danger. By the end of the period he's feeling like his old self.

Ah, there we go, the ringing finally stopped. I should get some earmuffs in case we run into something like that again.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:10-3:30 pm

The Omegas and Teen Force Ultra make their way through the Labyrinth. Being careful not to step on discarded syringes or piles of human filth, they carry their cases and their prisoner. Many members of the team notice that more than once, they see a young gang member or two pop out from behind a large piece of debris or another during their walk, but they aren't engaged. They are being observed. Detonate yells out to the observers "Y'all really don't want none right now!" His eyes glow as he yells, driving home his point.

Brute receives no response to his radio message.

There are no problems up until the ¾ mark of the journey. That's when all of the gang members who have been observing you form a human barricade in front of you. This doesn't come as a surprise to Black Dog, Cascade or Jay Sark who have noticed the watchers the entire time. It is especially obvious to Brennet who has been watching the patterns with which they decide to peek their heads out, the paths they've taken, the sword insignia on the back of their jackets and exactly how many different members (19) have been seen. Brennet also notices that a large number of gang members have come up from behind them. In total, Brennet counts 58 of them. One of them steps forward to address the surrounded Omegas.

"Sup losers? You get lost? Your mommies forget to tell you not to come 'round here? Dis the 'Rinth, ya shitweasels." There are lots of guns and tough looks and smelly gang members.

Macro looks visibly irritated, as she's wounded from the last battle but the rest of Teen Force Ultra look ready to fight.

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.

(Post addendum with DM's blessing... taking place at some point before the 3/4 mark of the journey...)

Brute hears the sound of birds cawing above him. Cawing that sounds suspiciously like laughter. Mocking, sarcastic laughter. And familiar laughter at that.

He looks around to find two large (and familiar-looking) ravens perched nearby. One has a light-colored band around its leg. While he’s watching, it slips the band off its leg with its beak and flings it at him while the other one lets out a caw that sounds a lot like “CATCH! CATCH!” They wait until he has either caught it or picked it up off the ground before flying away -- cawing/laughing the whole time until they are out of sight.

Upon further inspection, the band is actually a small slip of paper wrapped around an intricately-carved ring. Depending on the way the light hits the ring it appears to be made out of gold, silver, copper, or bronze. On the slip of paper are two words -- “Þakka fyrir.” Even as he stares at the words they morph into ones he can more easily understand -- “Thank you.”

When he puts on the ring for the first time he feels a rush of insight as his mind links with the magic of the ring:
Magical Protection: The wearer is +2 to save vs magic
Psionic Protection: Three times a day, the wearer may activate a Mind Block (same as the psychic ability) that lasts for one hour.
Courage: Gives the wearer a +2 bonus to resist Horror Factor
GM of the General Investigation, Resolution & Liberation Services (G.I.R.L.S.) of Merctown

New Perception Skill 108% Rolled: 1d100 = 73
JIC: 1d20 = 7 , 1d100 = 47

Brennet keeps a keen watch as they moved, all bad news .. If the case he carried has a shoulder strap, he'll switch to that to have both hands on his rifle when he notices this pattern/build up .. He moves up to whisper to Brute, "19 around us, 39 more coming from behind."

Brennet instinctively wants to hide, he looks around if there is any cover or concealment, for hiding or defense if this goes as bad as it looks like it is about to.
Prowl Skill 110% Rolled: 1d100 = 59
Plus all his normal (in signature) powers of being less noticed and such.

He tries to change his colors to better blend in with the colors in this area .. and he does the best job of such he has ever managed thus far in his life.
Chameleon
:)
If they come to a stop 90% Undetectable
If almost stopped 2 ft per melee (~11 hours per mile) 70% Undetectable
If only moving very slowly 1 ft every ~2.5 seconds (~4 hours per mile) 20% Undetectable
Any faster, and it doesn't add anything additional to his other normal skills and powers of not being noticed.
Rolled: 1d100 = 99 .. or I guess it isn't particularly effective at all.
JIC-Combat
Brennet will not be the 1st to attack or open fire .. but .. If fighting does break out. Brennet tries to stay hidden/concealed/behind some defensive cover. If case does not have a strap or such, Brennet puts down or such the case .. Having both hands to use his rifle effectively, is more important to him. Due to the large numbers they face, he would go for quantity over quality .. so not his usual preference for aimed/called shots .. otherwise his attacks 1st priority is to avoid hitting any friendly/allies .. 2nd is to hit the closest hostile.

Initiative: 1d20+3 = 20

APM-5: Shoot Laser Rifle To Hit: 1d20+3 = 17 Damage: 5d6 = 20 SDC

If his position is discovered and he is fired on or such .. Auto-Dodge as needed:

Before the confrontation
As Brute makes his way to the exit, he waits for a reply from Presence that never comes. Did she not make it off the Mechanoid ship?
Is... is that why she disappeared?

As they continue, he catches sight of the familiar crows, hears their laughter. Odin's crows... He nods to them. He is about to greet them when they fling something shiny at him.

The Ravens wrote:“CATCH! CATCH!”

Brute dutifully catches the item, and opens his hand to see a ring with the paper wrapped around it. As he reads it, his eyes nearly cross until the words realign themselves into English. He looks up to the crows to properly thank them, but they are gone.

My lord Odin. I will cherish this. He slips the ring on his finger, and feels the insight as he comprehends the power of the ring. He carefully folds the paper, and puts it into one of his pouches. If anyone else takes note of the spectacle, Brute will only say "It's a tale too big to tell now. If we make it back to HQ and you're still interested... well... we can have a couple beers and I'll tell it properly."

Brute will then resume traipsing toward the entrance, his antennae twitching.

At the confrontation

The leader wrote:"Sup losers? You get lost? Your mommies forget to tell you not to come 'round here? Dis the 'Rinth, ya shitweasels."

Brute smiles at the young lady, and takes note of her tattoos, clothing, and other possible markers of gang affiliation.

Streetwise 60% 1d100 = 52 (identify gang, know gang signs and M.O. - SUCCESS)

Brennet wrote:"19 around us, 39 more coming from behind."

Brute nods at this information. They came in numbers. Good. Means they're afraid.

If Brute recognizes that they're in a gang and knows the gang, he'll throw up the appropriate gang sign before talking. They'll know I'm not one of them, but they'll also know I know who they are, and am giving respect.

"Not lost. We tracked some out-of-towners who thought they could use the 'Rinth for their own base, and cleared 'em out for ya. We were just leaving."

He pushes the captive forward. "This was their leader, but there's another around here somewhere... guy turns into a bunch of little robots. He's yours to play with, if you can find him."

He smiles. "So, by your leave, we'd like to vacate your turf and toss this chump in Gramercy for thinking he could just move in on ya. What do ya say?"

If combat is unavoidable
If they grow increasingly hostile, Brute will hold up his bloodied fist and say through gritted teeth, "This is your only warning. Stand aside and let us pass."

Intimidate: 40% 1d100 = 8 (SUCCESS)

If combat is unavoidable, Brute will toss his captive to the ground and hammer anyone who gets close. This isn't like the time in The Archipelago... these aren't rich kids slumming it. We can let loose.

He also extends himselfs to full height, allowing his shadow cloak to billow and snake around him. He reveals only his claws allowing the blades to gleam in whatever light there is. He says nothing but emits a terrifying growl like the low-rumbling engine of a demonic war machine.

Gimme a reason.

When the speaker steps forward, Jay listens to what she has to say. My mommy never heard of this place. But yeah, she likely wouldn't have wanted me to come here and I doubt you really want me to go on about how I'm not from this universe or dimension or whatever. His thoughts pass quickly as he furrows his eyes at the speaker, "Um, I don't mean to interrupt but does your shirt say, Fuck the Oyster?" He leaves his shotgun slung but is aware of the pistol at his hip as he tries to hold off on aggressive action, but with the group he's with and what they just had to fight, he's not really sure how the heroes will react. Come on guys, we're out numbered here. best to just try and slide past. Plus Silver Serpent will definitely try to get away if there's a fight here

Jay keeps his eyes on the speaker but says in a hushed voice to Brute, "No matter what happens here, you gotta get Silver Serpent back to base. Turn on the speed and drag him out if you have to."

He keeps careful eye contact with the woman and moves slowly and deliberately as he steps in front of the group. Don't want to spook anyone.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather:
  • Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Inside: Dark, damp, cold (40 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:30-3:31 pm

Brennet doesn't find any good hiding spaces, but he does manage to blend in perfectly with the structure he is standing next to.

Brute takes note of the sword logo on the backs of some of their jackets and recognizes the gang as the “Stab O'Clock” gang, notable for the one day per year that they come out of the Labyrinth and cause one stabbing death per hour for 24 hours. Not the biggest problem in Century Station, but definitely someones who needs to be brought in. He throws up the stab/clock sign which involves both hands with the index and middle finger extended and touching, touching right palm to the top of left hand and rotating both in opposite directions in jerky motions, not unlike clock hands ticking.

Brute wrote:"Not lost. We tracked some out-of-towners who thought they could use the 'Rinth for their own base, and cleared 'em out for ya. We were just leaving."

"Yeah? How altruistic of you. Deciding who can and can't operate out of my hood. That's not up to you. The Minotaur runs this part of town and we just stay out of his way. I guess you're probably on his list now too. Maybe we should let you go... let him deal with you. Also, what the fuck is that?" She points at Black Dog's display of pure terrifying darkness which has many of her gang members visibly nervous.

Cascade wrote:"Hey there, pretty lady. We're not looking for trouble. We're actually on our way out. Is there something we can work out so this can be settled peacefully?"

The leader looks confused when Cascade speaks up. "And now the super cops are flirting with me. This is just weird. Sure, let's talk about..."

Jay Sark wrote:"Um, I don't mean to interrupt but does your shirt say, Fuck the Oyster?"

Her face quickly snaps in Jay's direction, the lines on it glowing a little brighter with her emotions flaring. "Fuck this. Fuck them. Kill them all!"

The Stab O'Clock gang rush you from all sides. Brute brandishes his crystalline fist against a variety of gang members, knocking out or just breaking many of them (6 down). Black Dog finally gets his chance to rip something to shreds, and boy does he. The cloud of inky blackness bursts into action rending flesh from bone, tearing chunks of life away and just destroying the mooks around him (9). Brennet uses his hidden in plain sight position to fire five shots from his laser rifle, taking down another three gang members. Feather looks between his teammates and then barks out some directions. "Rocket, watch the prisoner! Everyone else, help the Omegas!"

There are 40 more gang members rushing toward your location with knives in hand. Some kitchen knives, some bowie knives, some butterfly knives. But definitely all the kind that hurt to get stabbed with. The leader holds her arms up and they each morph into a sword that tapers out at her elbow.

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.

"Belay that, Rocket - get that prisoner to Omega HQ!" Guy is much faster than I am - he shouldn't have too much trouble. They'll be there before you know it.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:31-3:33 pm

Rocket Dog nods to Brute and then speeds off with Silver Serpent in hand. The Omegas along with Teen Force Ultra make incredibly short work of the charging Stab O'Clock Gang. Standing in a circle facing the oncoming forces (with Brennet hiding in plain sight), they easily beat the living hell out of every last one of them. Except their leader with the shining face. She looks resolute in her quest to kick your asses. And that's when the other shoe drops.

From the sky, a tremendous soaring leap made by a far away figure can be seen mid-arc by Brennet. Gauging from the speed and angle, it looks like it will land directly in the middle of the battlefield. And that it does.
Uber

The leader of the Stab O'Clock gang takes offense to the intrusion and yells ”Hey, you wanna join your friends? That's fine!” She goes to stab him using her arm blades and the Omegas can see that they slide right off of his body. He turns around to face her and says ”You dare lay hands on Uber? Your first mistake is your last, whelp.” And with that, Uber rears his hand back and punches it through her stomach. It comes back out covered in blood and with a few of her entrails attached. He turns around and grins wickedly at the Omega/TFU teamup. As if on cue, two more figures land, one melting the ground that he lands upon and the other heavily armored and winged figure landing in a massive stomp. In the hands of the latter is the limp body of the Teen Force Ultra member Rocket Dog!

”Vulcan, Bellona. Welcome.” Uber in his green and white costume turns from his friends to speak to the gathered heroes. ”We understand that our Young Elite have failed in their mission. They will suffer the consequences of that failure. We have taken Silver Serpent. We are taking this boy as well. Do not get in our way again or we will kill you and your friends. Omegas. Cute.”

What are you doing?

As the first villain lands, Brute mutters to his team. "We needed transport but I don't remember calling for an Uber."

Uber wrote:”We understand that our Young Elite have failed in their mission. They will suffer the consequences of that failure. We have taken Silver Serpent. We are taking this boy as well. Do not get in our way again or we will kill you and your friends. Omegas. Cute.”

Brute looks at Rocket Dog's inert body, and cocks his head at the trio. "You're under arrest." Uber is the invulnerable one - let's see how my strength works on him. Vulcan is fire dude... Bellona has magic I think. BD is vulnerable to magic I think, but his strength'll come in handy against Uber. As they stand there, Brute's antennae twitch out an SOS in interpretive dance. "Surrender."

When the fight starts, Brute launches at Uber, shouting orders. "Black Dog, Macro - With me! Cascade, Detonate - Vulcan! Breach, Feather - Bellona! Omegas, Teens, GO!" REALLY could use 'fleet feet' right about now. Where's Tyral when you need him? Or Presence, for that matter?

Brennet watches uber's entrance .. He definitely seems like the largest threat.

It's been Brennet's previous experience that focusing on the biggest target/threat has usually been effective. Given the display of power Uber just made .. Uber definately has Brennet's attention.

Brennet stays hidden/concealed .. he noticed the display of extreme durability .. aiming for weak/vulnerable spots might be the only chance .. So, Brennet takes careful aim .. 1st to avoid hitting his allies and then trying to hit Uber's right eyes with his Laser Rifle.
OOC Comments
OOC I know he's invulnerable and the laser won't do 'damage' .. but it's still a very bright concentrated light being shined/applied (if Brennet hits his intended target) directly into Uber's eye .. Maybe it will at least temporarily impair/reduce his vision or such ?? .. like the flash of light in his eye prevented him that second or two from seeing Brute or BlackDog's incoming attack ?? .. The 'nice' potential thing about trying to do the bright light in eyes visual obstruction with a laser is that it is narrowly focused beam .. not an area effect , so it should be insignificant risk to others that he doesn't hit with that narrowly focused beam .. or maybe it might just end up doing nothing?? We'll see.

Jay simply nods at Brute's instructions. Well, I don't think today has gotten any better! Pulling on his strongest ranged weapons, he calls a bolt of lightning down onto Bellona, or at least he attempts to.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:33-3:33:15 pm

Brute calls out the plays while he rushes toward Uber to bash him with his crystal fist. Uber deftly catches and releases Brute's fist with one hand. This seems easy to him. "Surrender?! I am Uber!" Bellona points her sword at Breach and shouts loudly "Taste the power of Skyburner!" A bolt of lightning fires off at him. She must not know about him. He manages to parry the lightning bolt, sending it through his body and straight up into the sky. Cascade senses some water in some near by pipes and forces it sky high, bursting through the ground below. Black Dog swipes a set of claws at Uber but is blocked much in the same way Brute was. Macro punches Uber but, while he seems to feel the punch, he doesn't seem affected by it. Breach reaches out and pulls that same lightning back down from the sky to rechannel at Bellona. Vulcan uses the fire from the couch near him to create a billowing smoke cloud that makes it difficult to aim at him let alone engage him in hand to hand combat. Uber takes a return swing at Brute but is outmatched by the agility of the Red Beast of Century Station. From his hidden position, Brennet takes aim at Uber's eye with his laser rifle. Feather tosses one of his signature throwing feathers at Bellona, which is easily avoided by the armored sword wielder. Detonate's fists begin glowing as he rushes through the smoke cloud toward Vulcan.

Brute goes to bash Uber again with his crystal fist but misses embarrassingly, almost clocking the giant sized Macro. Bellona switches targets and fires lightning from her sword at Feather, hitting the nimble teen. "You! Nuisance!" Cascade brings the water down to slam on top of Vulcan. At least that was his plan. He misses the molten villain as Vulcan dodges out of the way of the water. Black Dog uses his claws to slash at Uber but is blocked again. Macro tries to punch Uber again but misses entirely. Breach redirects the lightning back toward Bellona, giving her a taste of her own medicine. He scores a hit on her armor but nothing too serious. Vulcan's smoke cloud becomes thick and dark. Uber tries for Brute once more but misses. "You will pay with your life!" Brute can feel the power that went behind that one. He doesn't want to get tagged. Brennet locks on to his target. Feather throws another throwing feather at Bellona, hitting her but barely scratching her armor. Detonate swings an explosive punch at Vulcan but is easily parried with the lack of visibility working in the fire lord's favor.

Brute slashes at Uber with one of his auxiliary arms, catching the supervillain off guard and drawing blood. Uber's blood is purple. Bellona lifts her foot and stomps the ground, sending a shockwave directly toward Breach. "Ah! Lightning!" He is caught flatfooted and the attack can be felt even through the Omega Suit. Luckily, it didn't cause any damage to his person, just the aforementioned suit. Cascade, unbothered by his previous miss, pulls more water from the pipes to bring down around Vulcan's head. Black Dog executes a perfect claw attack utilizing his balanced claws, drawing more blood from Uber. Macro tries to join in as per Brute's instructions, but isn't having the same effect as the other two. Breach fires off a round from his pistol at Bellona, hitting her armor. Vulcan, from his cloudy hiding place, fires off a bolt of lava at Cascade, catching the Omega in the chest and beginning to burn a hole in his Omega Suit. Uber manages to strike Brute finally. The team leader feels the blow even as it absorbs into the Omega Suit. This guy hits HARD. Brennet fires off a laser shot into Uber's right eye, acting as a quick flashbang to distract the villain. Feather throws another throwing feather. Through the smoke, you can all see Detonate's whole body as it begins to glow yellow.

Brute uses his other other arm to slash at Uber from the other side. More purple blood. Bellona stomps her foot at Feather, hitting the not-nimble enough teen. "Where's your master now, Feather?" Cascade slams more water down at Vulcan, but without a good visual on him, he's firing in the dark. Black Dog gets another slash in on Uber while Macro does not. Breach fires another shot from his pistol at Bellona but the angle doesn't work and he can see the bullet ricochet off of the villain's chest piece. Vulcan causes the small fire from the couch to grow by setting the other side of the couch on fire with his fire powers. Fire. Even without the use of one of his eyes, Uber catches Brute again, damaging the Omega Suit further. Brennet begins to line up a shot at Uber. Feather throws another throwing feather but it misses. Detonate explodes in Vulcan's smoke cloud but doesn't effect the villain inside.

Brute fires off another crystalline fist blow at Uber, which is blocked. Bellona closes in with Feather and slashes at him successfully with her glowing sword. "Hahahaha! Die!" Cascade pulls more water into the sky to aim at Vulcan. Black Dog tries but fails to slash at Uber. Breach fires another shot from his pistol but it is avoided nimbly by the armored warrior. Vulcan causes the fire on the couch to jump and quadruple in size. Breach can feel things heating up behind him. Uber looks very angry. Well, he always looked angry, but right now he looks like he wants to tear Brute in two. He tries to do just that with a particularly nasty looking punch. Brute parries it expertly. Brennet follows up Brute's parry with a laser blast to Uber's other eye. Feather throws another throwing feather at Bellona but it bounces off of her armor.

Brute swings and misses at Uber. Bellona slashes Feather again with her sword. "You will fall to Skyburner!" Cascade tries once more to bring some water down upon Vulcan's head, but misses due to lack of visibility. Black Dog slashes Uber. Breach's shot toward Bellona is easily dodged. Vulcan takes his growing fire and forces it to form a circle around himself and Detonate. "Let me teach you a lesson, boy." Uber tries to sock it to Brute but is blocked. Feather throws another of his throwing feathers but it once again bounces off of Bellona's armor.

Bellona stomps the ground again, aiming the shockwave at Breach and hitting him very precisely. He can feel the bones rattling around in his body as if he were in a minor earthquake. Not a pleasant feeling. Black Dog slices at Uber with his claws again, not doing big damage, but damage nonetheless. Uber swings a mighty blow and hits Brute in the chest. What would have been a simple murder for any normal human is intense pain for Brute akin to being dropped onto a piece of farming machinery from 3000 feet in the air. Something definitely cracked, but Uber looks surprised that his fist didn't go through your skin. Feather tosses another throwing feather at Bellona for another failure at penetrating her armor. He didn't even connect this time.

Bellona takes three more slashes at Feather. The first one hits and he looks particularly rough. He manages to dodge the second. The third connects and it looks like the life has been drained out of him. He's bleeding everywhere and his armor is barely holding the pieces of his body together, but he's still standing. "Bring it on, jerkface."

Black Dog tries four more times in high speed to claw at Uber. The first attempt misses comically and the remaining three connect with great result.

Brute reacts as Uber hits him solidly in the chest, feeling the ribs crack. "Ungh. Good hit. Worse than the time I got my kneecap blown off or the time I got shot in the face." Luckily, his familiarity with chronic pain makes the injury more or less a minor distraction.

Once he sees Uber's blood, though, he smirks. "Purple blood, huh? That's okay. That's nothing to be embarrassed about." Brute circles the man, parrying and dodging, as he strategizes. As he tries to keep Uber between him and Black Dog, he sees Feather fighting the good fight but needing help. I need to take this fool down NOW. "Macro - switch targets - go help Feather!"

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:33:15-3:33:30 pm

Breach makes a mad dash toward Bellona, as she's very near to ending Feather's life with her glowing sword, Skyburner. Black Dog begins tearing into the bold and brash Uber, his claws doing just the trick to draw blood from the tough guy. Uber strikes back but Black Dog weaves out of the way of his mighty blow easily. Brute winds up to level a strong punch at Uber. Bellona, seeing her teammate in some potential trouble, flaps her giant sized wings and is by his side in an instant. Feather, finally with some space to breathe, pulls a small device out of his utility belt and presses a button on it. In the circle of flame, Vulcan and Detonate face off as with the flick of a wrist, the flames quadruple in size. Detonate punches the flaming man but only manages to burn his hands. Cascade draws some more water into the sky to counter Vulcan's firey offense.

With Breach on the way, Macro punches Bellona who has stepped right into her ring. The hit connects, with a massive resounding *klang* as Macro's giantsized hand hits Bellona's unnerving armor. Black Dog tries to hit Uber but is parried. In turn, Uber tries to hit Black Dog but is parried. Brute also tries to hit Uber but his power punch is swatted away. Bellona brings her glowing sword to bear against Brute, but he gets his crystalline forearm up in time, parrying the blow. Cascade brings the wave crashing down in the area of the fire. It doesn't have the effect that he wants of soaking the fireman, but it does put a small dent in the growing fire. The smoke from the fire begins to move unnaturally toward the group of combatants.

Breach tosses out a powerful kick that Bellona counters with a perfectly placed foot. Black Dog claws into Uber, drawing more of his purple blood. The group finds that they are suddenly surrounded by a large cloud of smoke, making it difficult to breathe and causing their eyes to burn. Uber and Bellona switch opponents. Uber attempts to punch Brute but even while choking on smoke, the Monster in Red manages to weave out of the way of the blow. Cascade brings another large mass of water out of the pipes and into the sky. Bellona levels an armored punch at Black Dog, but the wolfman knocks it out of the way. Using the momentum from his avoidance of Uber's punch, Brute swings around and knocks the living hell out of Uber with his extra arm, Serious. The tough loud talking man looks a bit worse for wear, like he's having a hard time seeing straight. Macro punches Bellona again but it doesn't do a damn thing. Inside the circle of flames, Detonate seems to be charging up for another explosion.

Breach fires off another high powered blow at Bellona, this time a punch. She parries it using her armored forearm. Black Dog tries to strike Uber but is also parried. The flames that were surrounding Vulcan start moving toward the group of fighters. Uber swings at Brute again, but Brute dodges the fist. Cascade slams the wave down onto Vulcan's fire, putting a little bit of it out. Bellona swings at Black Dog with an armored fist but Black Dog weaves out of the way. Brute slashes Uber with Results, leaving a bleeding gash across Uber's chest. Macro tries to punch Bellona again but is parried easily. Detonate blows up.

Breach sees his opening and takes it. He socks Bellona in her armored jaw, creating a loud *klang* and some visible scraping on her armor. Black Dog goes to claw Uber again and slashes his claws against his back, drawing some more blood. The moving flames form a barrier to the south of the group of fighters. Uber and Bellona switch opponents again. Uber tries to swing at Black Dog but misses entirely. Cascade brings some more water to bear. Bellona swings at Brute with her glowing sword but is parried.

Breach tries for a kick to Bellona's legs, but she blocks it easily. Black Dog claws into Uber staining his nice white and green suit with his purple blood. Uber swings back, but misses. Cascade brings the water down onto the fire and reduces the size of the flames by a small amount. Bellona swings at Brute again with Skyburner but Brute weaves out of the way.

Unaffected by the cloud of smoke surrounding them, Uber and Bellona continue to assault Brute and Black Dog with Uber's punch to Brute being parried and only one out of Bellona's four strikes against Black Dog hitting its mark.

Conditions: APS of Limb: Crystal, Monstrous Form, Smoke: -8 to all combat actions, reduces speed and actions per melee by half (OOC - is this mitigated at all by my antennae?)

Perception: 48% 1d100 = 95 (FAIL)

JIC: 1d20 = 2

In the smoke, Brute relies more heavily on his antennae to tell him where his foe stands.

"*cough cough* What's the matter, Uber? *cough* tougher than you expected? You should've surrendered... *cough* when you had the chance." These guys are no joke - gotta keep on our toes... and throw them off theirs... Brute squares himself against where his antennae tell him that Uber is, and he swings, attempting to knock the big man out, so he can move on to Bellona. As he ducks and weaves, his antennae do the same, and his monstrous flesh continues to knit his injuries.

This is not working. Frustrated, Cascade draws his knife. Not wanting to accidentally hit his ally with his pistols in the smoke, close quarters seems the next logical move. He moves in quickly and attempts a backward sweep to knock Vulcan off his feet. Using his momentum, he attempts to slash at the enemy with his knife as he comes around. He follows up with a series of kicks, punches, and stab attempts to try and neutralize this threat.

Having very little success against Bellona, Sark falls back, trying to make his way out of the smoke cloud. Jeez, I only landed one good punch and her armor took it like a champ. Time to try a different tactic.

Once free of the smoke cloud, Sark reassesses his options but the idea of firing into the cloud and crowd of friendlies doesn't appeal to him. Instead Sark circles around toward where he last saw Feather. Once he finds the youth, Sark says, "You okay? These fellas are some tough SOB's." He gives Feather a good look, just to make sure the battered kid isn't bleeding out or anything. "You have a plan? These guys are throwing off most of what I can do and I'm not really up to filling out the friendly fire reports if I use my tricks I've been holding back." He does whatever first aid he can while he listens to Feather's reply.

1-2. move out of the smoke and to Feather
3. talk to Feather/first aid

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:33:30-3:33:45 pm

Macro hauls off and punches Bellona, glancing off of her armor. Cascade starts moving into the flames to find Vulcan. Brute swings at Uber with a crystal haymaker but is blocked. Vulcan is concentrating on something. Bellona swings at Brute but is parried. Detonate and Breach both head toward Feather. Black Dog claws at Uber but is parried. Uber swings at Black Dog and hits him in the head. It feels like being hit by a truck. The werewolf is seeing stars for the moment. "You send a dog against a god?!"

Macro hits Bellona again, but has no real effect on her. Cascade, seeing his chance, tries to trip Vulcan up but the fiery man avoids the assault. In a rather deep and booming voice, Vulcan states "You had your chance to leave, Omega." Brute slashes at Uber but the smoke and heat overloading his antennae cause him to drastically miscalculate where the villain is. The smoke encapsulating the main fight grows in size, choking those caught inside. Bellona tries to punch Brute but he blocks the incoming blow. "Stand still Monster!" Black Dog and Uber try to strike each other but both block the other's blow.

Macro finally gets a giant sized punch in and leaves a fist sized imprint in Bellona's armor. Cascade very nimbly gets his knife from its sheath and slashes across Vulcan's chest. The knife plunges unexpectedly into his chest instead of cutting clean across. When the cut is done, Cascade sees that his knife is glowing bright red and that Vulcan's chest seals itself almost instantly. The fire that was near the Omegas grows massive, engulfing everything around them. Bellona, unphased by the fire all around them takes a swing at Brute who weaves out of the way. Detonate and Jay Sark help Feather get himself free and clear of the fire and check in on him. He's hurt very badly and only operating on willpower. Black Dog and Uber try to strike each other again but Black Dog dodges away from the strike while Uber knocks Black Dog's claws away.

Macro hightails it away from the fire surrounding her. Cascade punches Vulcan but is just barely parried. Vulcan opens his mouth and projects a wave of molten earth at Cascade, which the supersoldier just barely avoids (JIC used for dodge). Bellona takes a swing at Brute and manages to get past the big red monster's defenses and connects with his jaw. Black Dog and Uber seem evenly matched foes as they both block or dodge each other's attacks.

Cascade follows up with a kick only a supersoldier could pull off, straight into Vulcan's face. Looking at the damage, Rowan is shocked to see a streak where Vulcan's face used to be. That is until it reforms from the molten rock that it was composed of. The leg of Cascade's Omega suit is particularly warm and looking down, he sees that it is covered in lava. Bellona tries to punch Brute but is blocked. Black Dog and Uber both block each other's shots.

Cascade tries to stab his knife into Vulcan's chest only to see the blade superheat, shear off and the handle fall to the ground. "Vulcan is beyond you, child." Vulcan repays the favor by punching Cascade in his temple with the force of a natural disaster, knocking the hero out. Bellona is parried by Brute again. Black Dog hits Uber, bringing the tough alien down to a not so tough, bleeding out purple beat up kinda look. He throws a perfect right cross hoping to connect with Black Dog but the werewolf even more perfectly limbos underneath the shot (NAT19 vs NAT20!!!). "Cur! You will pay!"

Bellona tries to trip Brute up to prevent him from leaving the fire but Brute dodges. She then fires off a few more punches, the first connects as the smoke and fire start to get to Brute. The second he parries. The third hits him harder than any of her previous punches. He can feel it in his chest.

Uber fires off a perfect uppercut to Black Dog's maw, stunning Black Dog even further. "DOWN."

Feather leans in to Breach and says "Should have...warned...they're too...strong... Need...Owl..." He holds up a small device with a button blinking red.

What are you doing?

Jay knows when he's in over his head, and this is one of those times. He hears what Feather says, but it doesn't change what he's going to do. He nods to Detonate, "Keep him back and out of the fire. We need to pull back before we start taking losses. I'm going to find Rocket Dog. I saw him get thrown to the side when the Order members arrived."

With that said, Jay takes off. As he runs he gets an idea and he starts looking for two things. The first is still Rocket Dog but the second is fire hydrants or water mains. This fire needs to go out and Cascade needs more water to work with. If he spots a fire hydrant or water main, Jay will run over and give it a power assisted kick as he runs by.

1. Talk to Detonate
2-6. search for Rocket Dog and pull him to safety.

Alt.
1. break open fire hydrants or water mains: Strike: 1d20+2 = 8 Dmg: 6d6+4 = 24
2. break open fire hydrants or water mains: Strike: 1d20+2 = 15 Dmg: 6d6+4 = 22
3. break open fire hydrants or water mains: Strike: 1d20+2 = 7 Dmg: 6d6+4 = 28

6. break open fire hydrants or water mains: Strike: 1d20+2 = 20 Dmg: 6d6+4 = 31

There is no more ferocious and dangerous combatant than a feral, wild animal, but there is also none more practical.
Know when to fold 'em

Know when to walk away...
When Brute calls for retreat Black Dog has no problem making a prudent exit.

THE LABYRINTH
Date: Sunday, March 22nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright (62 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 3:34-3:36 pm

Breach takes off for the downed Rocket Dog's location. Through the smoke, he has an impossible time attempting to locate a source of water for the currently KOed Cascade to use. Reaching Rocket Dog's body, he scoops the limp teen hero up and notices a fire hydrant about 30 feet to the northeast. He rushes toward that and gives it a super-powered kick, sending the entire hydrant flying skyward accompanied by an explosive geyser of water shooting up from the ground. Meeting eyes with Vulcan through the fire, Breach sees the super villain give him a polite nod as Breach makes his way toward the APCs in retreat.

Black Dog is able to scoop up Cascade through the barrage of lighting bolts being tossed at him from Bellona's sword. He dodges through all of them and at high speeds, he's able to bring the supersoldier to the APCs in no time at all. He makes it back and helps the rest of the teens out of the sticky situation.

Cascade awakes in the arms of Black Dog while being rushed to one of the APCs at high speeds. His head hurts and some of his skin is a bit burnt, but otherwise a totally normal day in the life of a supersoldier.

Brute swings his crystalline arm from the shoulder and connects with Uber's right temple. Through the smoke, Brute can barely make it out, but Uber seems to stumble backward into the smoke. He notices as a lick of fire catches the tough guy and causes him to leap away from it. Brute holds down the fort until the rest of the Omegas and Teen Force Ultra are evacuated and then makes his high-speed escape. Thanks to the help of Black Dog, this doesn't take very long and with Uber not wanting anymore trouble, Brute is able to escape without additional injury.

Gathered at the APCs, the Omega/TFU joint team can see the flames rising in the distance. Presence and maybe someone else (but who?) are missing, but otherwise, the team is accounted for. Feather holds a device in his hand with a flashing red button. "He'll... be here... soon..."

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.

Sitrep... Brute thinks to himself, Feather is injured, Cascade, Black Dog, Rocket Dog hurt, Presence MIA... Silver Serpent has escaped. "Did anyone carry out a case of that element? We... still need it to find Silicate."

"Let's get our injured on the APC and get first aid started." Shaking his head, Brute keys on his radio.

"This is Brute... We were intercepted en route to our extraction site. Twice. First, 40 or so members of the Stab O-Clock gang - whom we defeated. Then, Uber, Bellona, and Vulcan. They freed our prisoner, Vulcan started a fire in the Labyrinth - there are radioactive isotopes in the fire's location, in protective cases. We have several injured." I hope that heat and fire doesn't destabilize those elements...

He adds, "I know the Labyrinth is out of jurisdiction, but they need military, fire control, and HAZMAT, ASAP. Omegas are not trained to offer assistance in that regard." YET.

If anyone snagged a case of the element, Brute reports "We have recovered a case of Element 157 and are returning to HQ."

If there are no cases at the APC, Brute adds, "We have not retrieved any of the Element 157."

Brute looks in the APC for a gas mask (with a size adjustable to fit him).

If he doesn't find one, he sighs and issues a final addenda to his report. "We are returning to HQ."

If he finds one, He dons it. "I have to go back in and at least get one case. Smash and grab. I'll be back as fast as I can. If I'm not back in 5 minutes, leave."

With that, Brute runs back at top speed (280 mph) to the burning building. He'll smash his way into the structure if necessary, retrieve at least one case, and run back.

Trying to get a quick answer from his team, Brute looks from person to person to see if they respond or obviously have a case of the element with them. Breach? No. Unconscious Rocket Dog? No. Bleeding out Feather? Nope, just mumbling about how "He'll be here" and bleeding. But not passing out, which is a spectacular testament to his training and teenaged will. Bren... wait, who? Nevermind. Black Dog? No. Cascade? He just got carried to the APC unconscious, he doesn't have anything. Detonate? No. It looks like no one has a case of the element with them. Then Brute turns around and sees the only person taller than him holding a handled case at his eye level. Macro, obviously worse for wear forces a smile, raises her hand to the sky and exclaims "For Science!" and hands Brute not one, but two cases. The cases are slightly scorched and definitely warm to the touch, but they are composed of high density polycarbonate polymer and upon opening the cases to inspect their contents, Brute sees that everything inside is intact and secure. 12 containers of the Element.

Brute wrote:Shaking his head, Brute keys on his radio.

The C.H.I.M.E.R.A. radio agent seems confused. "Stab O'Clock gang defeated, Uber, Bellona and Vulcan? Are these new players in the Labyrinth? Radioactive elements in a fire in the Labyrinth? This is a lot of new info. Confirm please?"

A cool looking plane descends from the sky using VTOL jets to land near the APCs. From the plane step The Owl and three more heroes not in your UED dossiers.

The one with the dog walks over to the APC to check on the less injured kids, leaving Feather to the Owl. He asks Detonate "How's Rocket? So you went a few rounds with the Order? You're tougher than you look, kid. And that's coming from an old timer like me."

The one in the all white costume walks up to Brute and shakes his hand. "Winter. I'll take care of the fire. Good luck with The Owl. He's...testy today. Greyhound! You're with me." The dog-themed hero turns from Detonate meets up with Winter. Winter puts his hands forward and begins traveling on a slide made of conjured ice. Greyhound runs at an obviously enhanced pace matching Winter's ice slide. Black Dog's radar-sense clocks them at 60 MPH. They are headed toward the fire.

Breach can see as the guy with all the guns and the metallic armored arms approaches Macro and asks "Was the mission successful? Do we have what we need to save the kid?" He seems to not notice or not care about the blood drying on her shoulder from obvious claw marks.

The Owl walks straight to Feather and kneels down to assess his injuries. "I'll take him from here." He sprays something on the giant wound across his stomach and then picks the boy up to carry him to the plane.

Black Dog wrote:"Fuck me, what a bunk show." Black Dog's shadowy head shakes in disbelief, "Was it just me or did that feel like a win right up until the last bit there? ... Fuck."

The kids all seem preoccupied by the adults gathered around them. Black Dog's advanced hearing picks up a sputtering cough coming from a few feet away. Turning his head toward it, he sees Rocket Dog start coughing up some blood. No longer unconscious, he sits up and looks at Black Dog. "Aww, man... Did they kick our butts? This sucks."

As the team speaks and figures out their situation, they notice the fire in the distance begin to mellow out slightly.

What are you doing?

Percep: 49%: 1d100 = 53
JIC: 1d20 = 4 1d100 = 57

Jay's Omega Suit is a little beat up from the earlier fight in the cavern, but unlike the rest of the team here, he kept this latest set of villains at range and was able to avoid taking any more damage. With a long sigh as the new set of heroes arrives, Jay pulls a fresh magazine from his utility belt and changes switches it out with the nearly empty one in the weapon.

When talk turns to the two missing members of the team, Jay says, "Presence slipped away when we were in the cavern. I don't know if she saw something and found her moment to follow up on a lead or if she cracked during the fight and just ran. I'd like to think is was the first but being that were took down almost everyone there and saw the others flee, I find it unlikely that she was captured. The other guy," He snaps his fingers, as if that will help him remember as he tries to recall the man's name, "Buh, Buh, Bren... Whatever. He vanished during the fight with the big bad's. Given his abilities, it is entirely likely he went into passive tracking mode and is following Uber's crew in hopes that he'll locate the missing kid. Though its possible that he pissed himself and ran off too. Though when we get back to base we can track their Omega Suits and see what we find." He nods, assuring himself that the two missing Omega's were not captured and that good or bad, there is some other reason for the pairs disappearance.

When Macro holds up the two cases of Element 157, Jay's stoic expression splits in a grin, while his interest in the much younger woman grows. Knowing it would be a bad idea to act on this infatuation as he will find a way to get back to his home dimension soon and she's much too young for him, Jay offers the young woman a nod and says, "Great job. I was hoping Uber didn't snatch those back when he knocked Rocket Dog out."

Moving over to a seat, Jay flops down and suppresses an urge to do a tactical evaluation while everyone else attends to their wounds.

He vanished during the fight with the big bad's. Given his abilities, it is entirely likely he went into passive tracking mode and is following Uber's crew in hopes that he'll locate the missing kid. Though its possible that he pissed himself and ran off too. Though when we get back to base we can track their Omega Suits and see what we find."

Brute thinks about Presence, and about the alien ship they were both recently on, in another space and time, which exploded, and fears the worst. "I... think I know what happened to Presence... but I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right, though, she went out like an Omega." Brute strains his mind to remember the little guy. B... Bob? No... Brennet. "Brennet!" He looks around, near-frantic. "By Thor, I forgot him!" Brute keys open his radio, and calls Winter, off dealing with the fire. "Winter, this is Brute. Please keep your eyes open for a little guy in armor... weird-looking head. Brennet is his name. Be careful, he's easy to miss... and easy to forget." Brute curses himself internally. Turning back to Jay, he says "Can you give Owl a hand with the first aid?"

As he deals with the wrap-up, his body continues to heal his wounds, and his antennae gently sway in the wind, feeding him all of the relevant atmospheric info. Brute attempts to sniff out Brennet's scent near the APC, to aid in tracking him later. I don't know if his weird forgetting power applies to his scent... but I sure hope not.
