Armoury>War room
"Not a task I'm eager to repeat without practice...but it is done." she thinks as the mutant places the parts down. It has been way too long since she used her full range of abilities. Her day pretty much spent all her Inner strength, a rarity. This definitely called for some tech or mystic upgrades. Mages would also be equally drained. Once the mission was done this would be brought up with the director in a most diplomatic fashion. For now, she was content to call it a good effort and a lesson well learned. If this DAP worked they could save lives and all this would make them new friends or allies at least. The laptop was definitely top of the line and aside from a minor update to a rarely used program was in good order.

"Anytime Faraday, I hope the effort pays off. that armour could use some work. I have a little research to do myself." she agrees, "ANNA? nice name." the mutant thinks as she put her thoughts on other matters. The world had magical beings and Psychic entities as well, or one would think. Considering the fact she had 'psionic' power. She would have to put with a normal view of the world. another odd factor of her abilities was that if she was without energy her visual effects faded. They were in some odd fashion tied to her abilities and up until now never really thought much of it except as gauge to read power levels as it were. Heading to the war she paid little attention to the common room.

All these mystical shenanigans made her concerned about Psychic abilities and entities were out there. The idea of possession and other phenomena not quite mystical but supernatural was a question she had. Wi-Fi was not a supernatural being per say yet possessed power similar to magic. Seers and other powers were both magical and Psychic sharing or taking ideas from each other. How these two forces overlapped was important and considering a good number of the rogues' gallery were mystical and Psychic prudent. It would be easy to find magic on call and this was not something she could do anyway. The other aspect was the ability to read a psychic or magical crime scene.

The power of the mind, however, was something she did understand. Clarica would need a secured computer and comm system. The war room would be ideal for this use. The word "psychic" is derived from the Greek word psychikos ("of the mind" or "mental"), and refers in part to the human mind or psyche (ex. "psychic turmoil"). The Greek word also means "soul". In Greek mythology, the maiden Psyche was the deification of the human soul. The word derivation of the Latin psȳchē is from the Greek psȳchḗ, literally "breath", a derivative of psȳ́chein, to breathe or to blow (hence, to live). This pretty much meant it was likely powers connected to the soul. Magic also had that. In fact she could mimic many magic spells and abilities easily. Regarding seers mystical or psychic, they also likely tapped into the same sources to see the same information, not unlike sources on the internet taking different routes to get there.

Among other issues regarding these powers, it was wise to know how the legal system regarded them. How the current laws regarded these powers was important not just to her but to others she might help or recruit. Are they considered weapons? is possession of them considered dangerous and does one need a licence or special training? regarding the rules and laws of the supernatural as well seemed fitting. If half the myths about deals with devils and other entities were true there had to be some sort of Supernatural 'Legal' standard. The power of an oath was something to be wary of. She was always told never to make promises you can't keep or that do not benefit you or those under your charge. It was an 'evil' approach but one survival did require in order to progress. Among the supernatural magic had such laws and it was a sure bet the psychic side also did. And she thought human lawyers were complex.

entering the Warroom looked around.
(If Brute is still there)
"Hello, Good to see you." she nodded, "Studying and not celebrating the victory?" she asked, "I probably shouldn't say anything though. I 'm looking up Psychic phenomenon and laws in case we encounter them. I'm not really a mage. That is Lexie's job. Now, Psychic, I can do well." she took a seat and a placed her laptop on the War Room table. With as always were the 5 bots exploring. The one she called 'Stubby' jumped on the table near her laptop and the other four checking out the room. They, of course, were checking for security hazards and such. Other than giving "stubby" a look as he was seeming to test for metallic objects begena a search on her laptop. with a slight grumble and a comment.

"and I quote..'a self-proclaimed psychic, medium, spiritual healer and spiritual teacher. He has made appearances on radio programs, TV shows, in live casino shows, and also conducts personal readings, seminars, workshops, and retreats.' and he has an afro like that? ya...he's probably a hack.. " she frowned. If no one else was there she said this to her bots as the image was called upon the holo. One this quality just needed to be seen on holo. Once found would sort the information in a file with the headings:
Criminal investigation and laws
Psychic abilities (counters and how to spot known powers)
Monsters of note (their strengths, weaknesses and how to spot them.)
how it interacts with magic/science.
Oaths and supernatural law

Jay grins as Rocket Dog jumps into the conversation, "That's kinda before my time. What I remember comes mainly from grade school history and T.V. but the version here is much larger. Mine only extends about half the distance as the one here. The development of powers made it obsolete or at most, a minor obstacle. By the era of unification..." He waggles his hand, "I think more than one powered that could control earth had plowed through it."

Jay gives the pair grin, "No what's really strange is looking up at the moon and not seeing the lights of Johnson City and its outlying communities." He grins, leaving the large opening for them to ask questions. He chuckles a bit to himself in his head, You know, I could make up almost anything I wanted and no one would know.... unless I take them back with me when I go home!

Lexie's email wrote:Hey Brute,
Hope everything's good at the Omega Base. Lucky and I are off investigating a mystical power source that just popped up on CHIMERA's radar. You're looking to build a mystical library? That's new. Start with:
Darksbane's Logs
Ley Lines by R. Blue-Light
Key of Solomon
True World by G. Latham
Between the Lines by Dr. V. Lazlo
Vheld's Tome of Power
Most of these have information that only makes sense if you believe, Clint. Let me know if you have any questions.
-L. Kent

Clint smiles when he receives Lexie's response. He quickly types out a reply.

"Lexie,

You WERE our mystical library, so I'm just looking to cobble together a poor but workable substitute, really. Thank you for the book list - I'll definitely be adding these to our resources. Stop by some time - you always have a home here.

-Clint"

After downloading and searching the books, he hits upon the quote by Latham in True World. He immediately fires off a text to Faraday and Wi-Fi.

"Team - doing a little occult research on interdimensionality. Found the following in a book recommended by Lexie Kent: 'We can never truly know what is real. What is true. I have torn apart the veil between dimensions and found what can truly never be tamed or controlled, what is always moving. Between dimensions, to and fro, always in a state of flux.'

Perhaps the FluxZone is the so-called 'veil' between dimensions? Which would mean that the portal gun's science, while admirable, perhaps doesn't fuly accomplish what it intended - it doesn't move you from one dimension to another. It only kicks you out of this one. I don't know if that affects your calculus. - Clint"

As he sends the email, Wi-Fi enters.

Wi-Fi wrote:"Hello, Good to see you. Studying and not celebrating the victory? I probably shouldn't say anything though. I 'm looking up Psychic phenomenon and laws in case we encounter them. I'm not really a mage. That is Lexie's job. Now, Psychic, I can do well."

Clint twists his mouth up in dismay. "Not much to celebrate... the bad guys have gotten away for now, and though we escaped with our objectives met... it wasn't by much. Still... no loss of life is always a good thing."

"I'm just doing a bit of research as well. Got a reading list from Lexie and found something that may be relevant to our FluxZone - just sent you the email, as a matter of fact. FluxZone might be the area between dimensions, and not a full dimension in and of itself."

He looks over at her screen as she begins her search, and sees the picture of the oddly-coiffed man. "Good lord. He looks like a psychotic Oompa Loompa. Who is that?"

If or when Clarica tells Clint the man's name, Clint will rack his memory to see if he's read anything about the man in his recent research.

Clint twists his mouth up in dismay. "Not much to celebrate... the bad guys have gotten away for now, and though we escaped with our objectives met... it wasn't by much. Still... no loss of life is always a good thing."

"Considering how deadly the order is survival is a good thing. Telling by Feather's injuries you did as well as can be expected. Any battle you can walk away from and survive is a good one. I'm still a bit bothered we didn't get to keep that Juggerman armour..but I will survive I suppose. I can still leverage a favour from the CSPD and I plan on that for sure. I saw your plan for volunteers and I did have a similar thought. a good idea we need to do." she pauses, "That said my team did good despite a merc dropping a grenade and an unintentional attempt at interior decoration by Darryl. no casualties though we did lose the plane...still haven't told Owl but I'm sure he figured it out. He looks to be a detective and a damned good one. Might call him up for tips. Can't say I'm fond the rest the Ultras..but they are not bad people either. I could be just having a bad day." she shrugs.
"I'm just doing a bit of research as well. Got a reading list from Lexie and found something that may be relevant to our FluxZone - just sent you the email, as a matter of fact. FluxZone might be the area between dimensions, and not a full dimension in and of itself."

"I was looking at the Psychic side of things. I figure we encountered magic and lots of it in a short time. It seems as likely there will be a psychic side we should know before it hits us." the woman says, "That and being psychic I am trying to find limits on just what I can do and what abilities are out there. I do have a few ideas but they need work." she added

He looks over at her screen as she begins her search, and sees the picture of the oddly-coiffed man. "Good lord. He looks like a psychotic Oompa Loompa. Who is that?"

"He was a Psychic healer and seer in Las Vagas a long time ago named Gary Spivey..a showman and fraud likely but does say he was a spiritual healer and spiritual teacher." she paused, "The number of real psychic back in the 19th and 20th century were not as high as today. If they existed at all. Most were stage magicians or actors. That hair makes me glad I have none. and he does look like an Oompa Loompa..." she grins.

As Faraday is conversing he reviews and respond to the email with negligible loss of attention to his surroundings.

That is an interesting possibility. I don't think there is anything we currently know about the device which would contradict such an assertion. And several things that correlate. From everything I've read on the subject dimensional forces are stubbornly unpredictable yet there are theories that this is only the appearance of chaos because of the interaction of any and all myriad possible dimensions and their various circumstances and the results exerting unforeseen force on the fraction of dimensional phenomena that we can observe. The functioning of this device is well beyond conventional scientific bounds and without this particular element to fuel it would still be useless. Regardless even if you are correct and the device simply pushes the target into this verge between dimensions we have zero data about what the properties of such a place might be. It could have put our missing person into a safe and comfortable stasis. Or it could be a void almost totally lacking in energy or matter and thus they would have been dead in moments. It would be dishonest we have any real ability to predict the properties of such an unknown dimensional location."

Though I would like to shove someone through the door and find out.

Wi-Fi checks the email and reads it and thinks about a flux zone. It made sense a buffer between planes and realities. Like Limbo and Sigil. They served as places between planes to prevent clashing of elements. The para-Elemental planes also did this. Of course D&D was not science but the idea of it made sense.

"If they do have a place on another plane it would make sense to have a portal end there. That said a fortress or base made to stay between dimensions with a portal would be very hard to breach and even harder to get to. I think your right about the veil. We need know as much as we can. I'd say sealed suits with an air supply or at least a shield to travel through in case its not human friendly. If we have time send a scout of some sort..a drone with sensors might work well for that. If its a person we tie them to our end and be ready to pull them in." she thoughtfully adds, "Also a keyword, Object, image, phrase or song to focus on should help. Something to look for in that warped reality. Similar to a dream or hypnosis with an escape or reset trigger.

Faraday quickly answers again.

Interesting ideas. I agree with hazard protocols for any people sent through, it seems like a fairly basic level of precaution given how little we know. I also am quite fascinated with the prospect of hiding a stronghold away in such a place. It would be nigh unassailable and make surveillance even impractical. It is a fascinating prospect. If there is such a fortress, seizing it would be a coup of staggering proportions against such an established group as The Order. And what it could do for us? The scope of such an accomplishment could not be overstated. We should carefully evaluate how we might go about targeting anything we find and make no assumptions about the totality even of what is present there, or where it may connect back to in this or another dimensional space.

If it is possible for them ... it is possible for ME.

Barney says, "I have only one question, but it will take a lot of effort to answer. I want to know how accurate the stories are...for the ones you know about. It can wait until I have the database set up probably."

He wishes he were better at programming. He will set up a help request sent to the others asking if they can help with a data search routine to locate "real" mythical stories as opposed to modern stories involving mythical characters and themes.

He will send off a request to various institutions explaining that he has a desire to set up a comprehensive mythology database and requesting that Anthropology students studying different cultures take part on the creation of said database.

He starts by setting up the data fields, things like name of deity, most common culture, Other names of deity, and then starts with more detailed information per each story...such as Zeus becoming a Bull and becoming a Shower of Gold and raising clouds around the world to block Hera from seeing him cheating. Each story will then have references to similar stories involving other deities...in case humans of various cultures spread the tales around and got confused as to which deity actually did what. Each story will also have a first recorded listing by author and date if possible.

The idea is that, when the database is finished, you can enter the name of a deity or other mythical character and find out what they can most likely do. Obviously it will be a long term project, which is why Barney is trying to farm as much of the work out to others as he can.

Anthropology 1d100 = 76 of 55%
Computer Operation 1d100 = 24 of 75%
Research 1d100 = 86 of 85%

Faraday shifts his attention back to Spiderweb for a moment, seemingly interested. "I could likely assist with the construction of the database and indexing functions. And some of the research perhaps. I confess I'm interested in the subject as well." he says, smiling slightly.

All too keenly interested...

Barney admits, "Help will be appreciated, given the sheer number of different tales in all the cultures of history, it is going to be an enormous project."

Hundreds of cultures, at least four thousand years of history...likely no one person could do it all in a lifetime.

Heading through the common area, Faraday interjects himself into the conversation between Spiderweb and Battletoad. He sees that she is reading (and highlighting passages from) the classic novel, Slaughterhouse-Five. "Oh, hey Faraday!" She shifts in her seat a little and faces Faraday. "Thanks! You weren't so bad out there yourself! It got pretty heavy. Spiderweb's capture of Major Assault was important as well. As for the homework, it's hard, but nothing I can't handle. To be honest, it's a nice break from the hero stuff."
Spiderweb wrote:"I have only one question, but it will take a lot of effort to answer. I want to know how accurate the stories are...for the ones you know about. It can wait until I have the database set up probably."

"Yeah, you probably want to talk to my mom about that."

Spiderweb:
Barney sits at the computer and works on finding reputable organizations regarding mythology to request data from. He sends off some e-mails and waits for a reply.

Wi-Fi and Brute:
Wi-Fi presents an image of a psychic to Brute but Brute can't recall anything about the man. Wi-Fi conducts some searches online and finds that there are fewer psychics in this city than any other type of hero. This results in there not being a store or location that specializes in psychic lore.

Everyone:
Fatigue starts to get the best of you all and sleep becomes a requirement.

Faraday:
Faraday wakes up to a low-volume, mid-pitched beep on a 15 second cycle. ANNA has information ready for him. He looks at his freshly repaired armor on the way out of his room, proud of how much he was able to get done in a day.

Checking in with his station in the Armory, ANNA pulls up a single article regarding Sarnium/Element 157. And nothing about the Fluxzone. The article is from the website OffTheRecord.net. Published by Samson Delilah, it chronicles Dr. Sarnhoff's expulsion from Century Station and raises the question “What are the repercussions of alien energy in Century Station?” Not much to go on.

Looking at the plans for the DAP, Faraday finds it to be a perfectly crafted piece of machinery. On paper. The circuits all make sense.

The analysis of Element 157 is complete. The sarnium is hyper dense, fissile material, that radiates heavy charmed lambda particles. There's something else interesting about it however. It seems that the tomographic report is listed as having completed at 3:26 pm on Saturday, March 21st, 2043.

With all of this information, Faraday now has one more obstacle to tackle. Procuring the components to repair/recreate the DAP. Once he has everything, he estimates it will take him 4 hours to complete the build. With help, of course. 10 hours solo.

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.

Last Night
Clint realizes he's packed at least four days worth of consciousness into just this one 24 hour span, and begins to feel the strain. He sees about lodging for the TFU - putting them up in empty Omega bedrooms as necessary - and then heads off to bed himself.

As he climbs into bed, his body filled with ignored-until-now aches, he immediately tumbles into a deep sleep.

As Brute drops quickly into REM sleep, the events of the day cycle through his mind.

Brute finds himself astride a wire destrier, surveying the bleak landscape of Hell. He cannot see them, but he knows his companions, Ronith, Tyral, Marcus, Sentinel, John, and Birger, are nearby.

A pair of black ravens land upon a branch nearby. Thought and Memory. Huginn and Muninn.

"You're late."

"He's watching you."

Clint cocks his head to the side. Who he begins to ask himself, but they are gone, and he knows the answer anyway. He rides on through the fog, and sees, in the distance, the Labyrinth. The entrance too small for horses, they dismount, and enter. They make their way among the wrack and ruin of the once-proud arcology, to try for the source of the power at its center. He has a small army behind him: Elves. A giant. A wizard. A golem. Some folks from the future, some from another dimension. Others.

They make their way further in, and come to a room he recognizes. It's in a spacecraft. Presence is on here somewhere, and Brennet. Brennet? Brennet! Good god, Brennet! How did I forget? The source of the power is nearby... but the ship appears to be disintegrating even as they walk through. Fire is everywhere, choking, consuming. How will we find the power source now? How will we rescue Silicate?

He sees mechanical enemies rise up. One of them breaks apart into numerous small spiders, that scurry to swarm their position. Clint tries to turn on his powers, and can't.

You will NOT defeat us! he howls in rage, and draws a pair of magic pistols from their holsters at his belt. As he fires, he is overrun with mechanoid spiders. No! Must find the power source! He hears the screams of his teammates, smells their blood through the soot. He swings his fist, trying to crush the enemy...

This Morning

... Clint falls out of bed. Disoriented, he wakes up, largely unrefreshed, body still knotted with pain. A dream... he thinks, but one message from the dream persists. Despite his great strength and power, he feels fragile as he drags ass off the floor and into his bathroom for a long, scalding hot shower, to be followed by however many painkillers tumble out of the bottle. Standing in the steam, the soothing hot water rolling off his shoulders, he hears a voice reverberating in his mind.

"He's watching you."

Something about that part of the dream has the ring of truth - and he thinks immediately of the ring, Draupnir. Odin watches. A part of his consciousness, buried deep, echoes I serve the Father. He turns off the shower, towels dry, and foregoes the painkillers.

Now feeling somewhat refreshed, he slides into a fresh Omega suit and ambles off to the kitchen to see about breakfast.

If he sees any of TFU hanging about, he invites them into the mess and begins (trying) to rustle them up some food. he lays out an array of fruit, some danishes, and makes a pot of strong coffee for everyone.

"If anyone is comfortable cooking, you're welcome to do so. Trust that I'm doing you all a service by not inflicting my cuisine on you." He grabs himself a pair of danishes and a banana, and sits at a table, his muscles aching.

"Hope everyone had a good rest. Once Faraday's got the gun rebuilt we'll embark onto stage two of this endeavor, and get you your friend back. Until then, take things easy, and let me know if you need anything."

Barney says to Battletoad, "Perhaps you can introduce us some time, it is bound to be interesting for me...though possibly less so for her."

Barney, with help from Faraday, works late into the night, setting up the basic database so that entries can be made and evaluated. It is not his forte so he heads to bed before it is really finished. When he gets up he goes and eats breakfast, then does his exercises before resuming his chore. Even when the basic setup is done, it will need to be tested and checked before any real work is done with it.

He checks his E-mails to see if anyone has replied, but does not see anything yet.

Nothing? she thought, I figured there would be something..Well. Better to solve this with a clear head and a full nights rest behind me. The woman was not happy with the answers but would remedy that later. There had to be some sources, even if she had to leave the city.

"You people need to watch more Youtube or live in a mob for a few months." Wi-Fi grins, "If my hard earned skill at cooking eggs and making toast is the best we can muster we are going to starve or die of lack of malnutrition." looking at the others and decides to attempt actual cooking. Eggs, toast and all else failing Poptarts maybe?

"Hope everyone had a good rest. Once Faraday's got the gun rebuilt we'll embark onto stage two of this endeavor, and get you your friend back. Until then, take things easy, and let me know if you need anything."

"Indeed, we should call the CSPD or military for some of their sealed armor. In case the air is unbreathable. at the very least rebreathers and sealed up Omega suit. many of the Order don't breath or have access to powers that protect them. I'll put the request in after breakfast. Wi-Fi adds, "I'm going to be wearing a bat-inspired suit with pointy ears and chasing clowns by the time I leave this team, won't I?" she asked looking to Brute and Faraday if he was in the room as well.

Barney comments, "While I can make food that will not kill you out of nearly anything, I can not claim that it will necessarily taste good."

He has wilderness survival, not cooking, so food he makes will be edible...but not necessarily palatable.

Barney quips, "If that is your way of saying we are driving you Batty, then probably."

"Could be a worse fate than going local here. You all seem like nice people. and tolerate my occasionally bossy attitudes and the odd toe stubbing from robotic spiders." Wi-Fi responds as she looks at the eggs. I really need to get cooking lessons. this and hamburger helper will not do to feed the troops. she thought, of course, like last time she did not have the time. it seemed like she would need to do this for real. not youtube videos.

"Clint, you have all the prep work done?" she askes while watching the food cook. field kits, breathers and omega suits with a bit more oomph than the current ones would help. They didn't show up yet and the bald mutant was hoping to not need them yet.

As she was there the sound of small metal feet were heard and two robotic spiders looked about as they entered the kitchen. she looked at her bots and went back to the food. Given this trend of escaping it would be good to put locator beacons on each of the five bots. They did need upgrades and paint jobs as well.

The five little bots despite their villainous origin and programming did work. Holo-emitters and better vocal comms for starters were going on that list of improvements. The other three likely slipped out as of her room as well. It would be easy for them. the two in the kitchen that did find her would be on Comms with the three not here. Stubby already radioed his fellow bots as Wi-Fi thought it. As if on cue the other three slinked into the kitchen looking up and around.

If I am not careful I may find myself liking this young lady more than I should. Attachments are not wise, yet we do not always choose them. I am beginning to think this one may be out of my hands.

Faraday smiles and nods towards the book she is reading. "An interesting work, though no more perfect than anything else. War is unpleasant at the best of times. Yet I doubt we are done with it yet by any means. Conflict is as human as anything else we do." he says, his eyes shifting towards thoughtful as he pauses in his spiel. His manner seems deliberative for a moment, considering his train of thought rather obviously, before he continues. "In the morning I'll be going over some results and putting together my analysis of the device and specifications. You would be welcome to join me and assist. I should be quite pleased in fact. Now if you will both excuse me I need to get this armor repaired before I need it again." he says, inclining his head slightly before turning to give a more brusque nod to Spiderweb before turning and heading back towards his quarters.

In The Morning:

Faraday gets up to the sound of ANNA's alarm, early in the morning, and smiles to himself. Time to work, and more. Reaching out and grabbing his phone he triggers the voice command dialogue. "ANNA, how are you this morning? Sounds like we have some things to do today." he says lightly as he works his way out of bed. "I can't wait."

The phone responds audibly with ANNA's animated face appearing on the screen. "Yes Dr. Rearden. I am excellent, thank you for asking. I completed my assigned tasks and then scheduled some maintenance processes that required I power down, as you suggested. I feel well rested. You have reports on the completed research in your inbox when you are ready. You seem to be in a good mood this morning. Should I be jealous?" Her voice is light and playful, with a hint of teasing to it.

Faraday stands, taking the phone with him, and stretches before heading towards the shower and quickly going through the motions of getting himself presentable. "Never darling. You'll always be special to me." he says around a bemused laugh. Then he rapidly sorts himself out all the way to suiting up in his newly repaired armor. As he does so ANNA briefs him on the reports and research she completed over the evening. As he finishes putting on his boots and starts buckling on weapons he turns to look towards her with another smile. "Well done. Order some breakfast for delivery while I head back down to the Armory. Something nice for everyone. Ah, I know just the thing. Some cajun style crab omelettes with a light hollandaise sauce. Some hash-browns and fried tomatoes on the side perhaps. And coffee with chicory and beignets." he says, thinking through the breakfast order as he finishes buckling on his weapons belt and slinging his rifle weapons into their stowed positions.

"Ordered Dr. Rearden. And now I know you like her. Would you like me to order her flowers as well? Breakfast should arrive within thirty minutes, I found a small restaurant down at the fisherman's wharf that serves a variety of cajun and New Orleans style dishes made to order. You can thank me later Dr. Rearden." ANNA says in a tone of if anything even greater amusement than before. "Shall I alert you when the order arrives?" Faraday smiles again. "Please do." he says before swiping closed the interface with her.

- - -

Faraday Enters the Common Room:

Faraday walks out into the common room and seems mildly surprised to find it heavily occupied already. He moves with his helmet slung under one arm yet otherwise dressed for battle with his weapons all serviced and in place. His armor likewise is obviously repaired from the battle worn state it was in the previous evening. "Good morning team. How is everyone? Hope you all are as hungry as I am. I took the liberty of ordering breakfast for everyone, I hope you don't mind." he says, giving a bemused expression. Quietly he walks towards the table and sets his helmet down. "Brute, Wi-Fi, I have some further information to go over. A possible lead as well. But we can discuss that in the Armory after breakfast."

Having warned everyone what might be expected, Barney proceeds to attempt to locate suitably nutritious materials and attempt to make something that could be considered food out of them.

Cooking 1d100 = 100 of 35%

Barney manages to lay out a collection of fruits, nuts, and cold meats and cheeses. He tries to do some actual cooking but decists after setting off the fire alarm.

Faraday was efficient and the best suited to Bravo research. The new talent arriving if any would be an unknown quality and not assigned yet. This was an ideal project for Faraday. he struck her as one who liked to be busy and this project was something to keep tabs on.

Quirking a brow Faraday smiles. "Thank you ANNA, that was fast." he says before turning and heading to the door.

The brief exchange with the driver takes only a few moments yet leaves Faraday encumbered with the large amount of food. He seems if anything only more amused as he struggles with the bags and tries not to let anything spill or be upset by his handling. "I am anything but a cook. In fact I rather dislike doing anything more sophisticated in the kitchen than pouring myself a cup of something. But I do appreciate good food." he says, his manner jovial as he unpacks all the cartons from the bags and starts doling them out to anyone who wants one. "I took the liberty of ordering something I like to share with everyone, and I hope you enjoy it. Ah, I hope no one is allergic to crab?" he says, as if the idea has only just occurred to him.

"Food!"

Once the food is doled out to everyone he proceeds to pouring the chicory coffee before taking a seat and digging into his own plate. "This whole business with Sarnium has me quite curious. We don't really know how it works, or where it comes from. Some speculation I've been reading has conjecture that the energy bleed out left over from Dr. Sarnhoff's devices and experiments here in the city are the source of this element. And that could explain why it has such an unstable nature and rate of decay." he says, his tone excited and thoughtful at the same time. He devours his own omelette with gusto first. "It also would explain why Century Station is the only place to get it."

Perception: 1d100 = 48
JiC d20/d100: 1d20 = 1 / 1d100 = 62

Faraday smiles and chuckles as he moves to claim a seat at the table by putting his helmet down in the chair. "I shall have to live up to such praise." he says warmly.

"I'm sure you will manage too somehow." she said with a smile back then looks to her food.

Modesty..a good trait. something I should work on. Too much practicality and Wi-Fi would end up like Thrawn and lack any political savvy. Arihnda Pryce as her political advisor would help about now. Though in later arcs she does get very pro-Empire. If she had joined the rebels the woman would still be too practical for the rebels. Thrawn also would have such problems...heroes could be so difficult. If they did pull more triggers there would be less bad guys to keep in prison to escape and kill again. As it was the omegas captured and so would she. Besides they were good people. Even the werewolf was okay.

"I took the liberty of ordering something I like to share with everyone, and I hope you enjoy it. Ah, I hope no one is allergic to crab?" he says, as if the idea has only just occurred to him.

"Food!"

"I am not allergic to seafood. suits me fine," she commented with a nod, "Probably better than my eggs and toast.." she grins.

"Then we need to find his lab after the mission to secure it. who knows what else is there that might be a threat. Bravo team could do that after the rescue. I have mages, psychics, and Hightech so it should be easy. unless you want Alpha for that, Clint. We can talk later though. Right now...food," she adds and thinks, Or benefit us or the order. His old lab would be a nice back up to hide in if we need to provide the order didn't do that already. hide in plain sight and all.. she looked at the food and tried some. Pretty good, but not something for daily eating. It has a taste she would not like to get too used to lest it becomes less special.

"Clint, how are things? I admit I've been a bit focused on team matters," she asked, "Have not been too social in the last week. and who picks the movie?" she added with a sly grin.

(rolls carried over)

Clint sets his danishes and muffins aside after the real food arrives, and digs in.

"Thanks a bunch, Faraday." He flashes his characteristic thumbs-up to Faraday, his new copy of the ring Draupnir glistening on his hand.

Clint considers this for a moment. "We need to think about that - if his lab is not in Century Station, it's technically out of our jurisdiction, though I agree it needs to be found and shut down. Once we know where it is and have some idea of what we're facing, we'll decide which team goes in. If not both."

I may need to better balance these teams... Could use some magic and technical knowhow on Alpha. No sense hoarding all the skills on one team.

Clint shrugs. "Since yesterday? Not bad. Got a lot to process." Although in human form, Clint briefly extends his antennae, wiggles them for a moment, and retracts them. "But, no one died yesterday... Except maybe Presence? "... so I can call yesterday a win, even if only barely. I suspect I'm due for an in-depth debrief with Balisong and other high-ranking government officials, once they read my report. As to the movie," he smiles, "...I'm down for whatever."
