As Brute fights, he hears Wi-Fi's comments via radio about leading them to water or shrinking them somehow. I can't even hit the guy whose shoulder I'm standing on! How'm I gonna lead him anywhere! And like... do we have time to call in the Centurions?!?

"Can't talk, fighting." If you got a plan, Clarica, just do it. As he fights, his antennae do their thing and keep him apprised of any changes in the atmosphere.

Brute steadies himself on the green Megasaur's shoulder, and resumes hammering away at its head. Maybe I can K.O. this thing and move on to Orange. If this takes too long, there's no telling how much damage they'll cause. We need to stop this NOW. He notices that not all of the Omegas are contributing very much - though some are getting civilians to safety, which is priority number 1, others are not doing anything obvious. These guys are gonna trample half the city if we don't lay 'em out soon! We're fighting literal giant monsters and I've got agents standing around! He shouts, "OMEGAS, HIT 'EM HARD!" ... with a note of desperation in his voice.

As the metallic looking shards shattered and vanished she takes notes on the fact they faded once again separated. one many mysteries, so little time. Right now she was going inside and getting the base defences ready. There were supposed to be turrets to protect the place. Guess they skimped out them too. Did they get the kind powered by elastic bands off of the slingshot channel? The most obvious solution was the garage door. Hell, blasting in through the garage door would work if it was not open.

"This is Wi-Fi, open the garage," she said. Once it was opened she would get in and close the door behind her.

Should she get inside safely:

Once safely inside quickly starts with message for some help. “Computer, Send the following message to any UG and Centurions in the city. CSPD as well.

This is Wi-Fi, Omega XO. We have Megasour and another monster in the Omega Base. I need a way to get them out of there and on there way out of the city before civilians get hurt. Sonics and flash-bang or light to lead them out is what I was thinking. Open to other options such as shrinking them should anyone have a shrink ray.‘”

Now computer, get me all we have on Megasour, include youtube for that search. Internet sites on monsters as well. And a listing of any shipments with weapons and armor we may have recently received.” Wi-Fi requested on her way to the war room.

JIC: 1d20 = 18
JIC%: 1d100 = 83

Chastity frowns as the orange Megasaur bats the missiles aside, I wonder how he did that without causing them to explode? Well I may need a different approach.

She flies up higher and starts crafting, I am going to want a minigun, one of those ones with rotating multiple barrels, a large ammo container, and a high rate of fire.

Weapons Engineer (71%): 1d100 = 67 To craft weapon
Mechanical Engineer (71%): 1d100 = 51 To design mechanism

She will test the action of the various parts and make sure it is in proper working order, telling herself, This is going to hurt me, but let's hope it hurts him more.

(by testing I will hopefully be able to correct any bad rolls
Weapons Engineer (71%): 1d100 = 56 To test weapon
Mechanical Engineer (71%): 1d100 = 9 To alter mechanism if required)

When she is ready, she flies back down ad says, "Hey Megasaur Orange, EAT THIS!"

Initiative: 1d20 = 18
Actions: 4, Strike bonus +1 (, Damage (to target) 1d6*10 within a 4' radius, Parry +3 when applicable (+5 if shield), Dodge +3
Action 1: Design and craft machine gun, Dodge of required 1d20+3 = 4
Action 2: Test and modify weapon, Dodge if required 1d20+3 = 19
Action 3: Attack with minigun short burst 1d20+1 = 13, Damage (estimated for 10 rounds) 1d4*10 = 20
Action 4: Attack with minigun short burst 1d20+1 = 8, Damage (estimated for 10 rounds) 1d4*10 = 20

OOC Comments
It is quite possible she will wind up being thrown back quite far by the equal and opposite reaction of the rapid fire of bullets, she will likely have to add a recoil compensator or some such. She likely would not think of it at first, she is not that experienced in a fight.

She will take 3 HP damage this round, 2 for the 20 bullets, 1 for the use of a complex machine (though that costs only 1 per 10 minutes)

If Rook happens to fly close enough, she will want to talk to her, "Relay a message to your friends on the ground that there is a CHIMERA vehicle down there, it is probably armed if someone can use it. Aside from flight, what else do you have?"

Initiative: 1d20+2 = 22 (NAT20!)
JIC: 1d20 = 14, 1d100 = 4
PER: 1d100 = 64 vs. 21%
APM: 6
Conditions
  • Crystal armor- +3 strike/parry/dodge, +4 to damage. Takes 1/3 damage from light and laser attacks.
Yum. Maia ignores the various entreaties emanating from the humans’ mouths- there is food to be had. These Megasaurs are of The Life, and any abnormality they experienced was not her concern. Mutation and change are the way The Life grows, and if these Megasaurs wished to prove their strength over the humans, who was she to get in their way? Then, the big green one had to go and spoil it by attacking her. And it was such a lovely day for laying out in the sun. Maia couldn’t sigh, but she would if she could. She had no dispute with newcomers to The Life, but she knew from experience that attacking her on sight was a bad sign. Her intellect crystallizes. "MISTAKE..." She rears up, rounds on the green megasaur, and gets to work…

…Or tries to, anyway. The megasaur looks a lot bigger up close. Maia isn’t used to being shorter than things, but she saw the humans’ giant hives from afar, and it stands to reason that The Life would respond in kind. She briefly thinks about diffusing up to the thing’s face, but decides that it will likely be faster to bring the face to her instead of the other way around. She continues smashing, her main goal being to get Megasaur Green’s leg to buckle and bring its face to within punching distance (and smash that). Mammals were always so funny about their openings- there were so many of them, all so fragile. The Life can produce some truly amazing design flaws from time to time.

Action 1: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 17 to strike, 2d4*10 = 60 + 40 = 100 damage.
Action 2: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 13 to strike, 2d4*10 = 50 + 40 = 90 damage.
Action 3: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 30 to strike, 2d4*10 = 20 + 40 = 60 damage.
Action 4: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 29 to strike, 2d4*10 = 20 + 40 = 60 damage.
Action 5: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 24 to strike, 2d4*10 = 40 + 40 = 80 damage.
Action 6: Punches as above- 1d20+11 = 15 to strike, 2d4*10 = 30 + 40 = 70 damage.

Sicilia lets out a loud, pained hiss as she's struck by the energy blast, a flash of panic going through her mind. I don't want to die! Upon realizing that, while hurt, she's hardly close to death yet, she calms, keeping focus on helping the people about her. Relieved at getting the majority of them to safety, she thinks to herself, The only ones left are the reporters too stubborn to leave. Myself included, I suppose!. After giving a little mental chuckle to herself, she resumes her fight against the Megasaurs, the brief internal levity doing wonders for her thoughts and concentration.

Hearing Brute's command to keep hitting the dinos hard, she does her best to comply! Although a very, very tiny lizard-noodle compared to the massive reptilians they are facing, she focuses her attention on the orange one, seeing that the green giant is getting whaled on by both Maia and Brute, wanting to help keep the orange menace distracted while green is hopefully being taken out. As she battles, she glances about her, calling out with her mental speak, Brute and the vine creature are hitting the green one hard, some help with Orange here would be great! Bit big for me to handle on my own!

Action 1: Mental Speak - Try to direct some of the other Omegas' attention to taking down Orange.
Action 2: Tail Whip the Achilles' heel of the orange megasaur, hoping to put it off-balance with the hit - Strike: 1d20+5 = 21; Damage: 2d6+17 = 25
Action 3: Turn to rip and tear at the orange one's ankle - Strike: 1d20+5 = 18; Damage: 1d6+17 = 19
Action 4: Continue to strike at that point! Trying to do enough to cause permanent damage! - Strike: 1d20+5 = 20; Damage: 1d6+17 = 23
Action 5: Continue to strike at that point! Trying to do enough to cause permanent damage! - Strike: 1d20+5 = 14; Damage: 1d6+17 = 22
Action 6: Continue to strike at that point! Trying to do enough to cause permanent damage! - Strike: 1d20+5 = 7; Damage: 1d6+17 = 20

It was only one hit but it almost sent him flying as his protections are almost destroyed.
These buggers are bloody strong The blow causes him to notice the reporters still here.

Bloody reporters, better get them out of here or else they'll get squashed.

"Get out of here or at least get back out of reach." he shouts, barking a command at them, "these things pack a serious punch and you don't want to get splattered.

"See what I can do to help ankle biter," he calls over. Creating the familiar 4th level Formi, he drops a carpet of adhesion on the opposing foot to the one Scilia is biting.

Increasing their weight won't help, neither will smoke or darkness due to their height. But they still feel fear. He smiles to himself as his eye flashes under his cowl. The bond between eye and owner meant he barely had to think and the spell happened.

Now, that he's stuck, let's see about actually hurting this thing. Another thought and an energy bolt suddenly erupts from his eye aiming for the groin area.

Initiative 1d20+2 = 6
Attacks 5
Attack 1 refresh AOI
Attack 2 Invoke Trust/Intimidate: 45% 1d100 = 27 to get the reporters to move to safety

Attack 5 Energy Bolt from Eye of Odin 4d6 = 12 dodge 18+ needed to dodge

Contingency if orange attacks with its claws, misses and strike the ground, Crucible will cast COA on the area around the hand to catch it in place.

With the bulk of the civilians away from the immediate combat zone, Rook decides to take the battle to the enemy, although she's not entirely certain on what among her bag of tricks she can do to affect the beasts.

For a moment she hovers about 30 meters out from Orange, studying the battle with the eye of an amateur, somewhat. 'I'm pretty sure my punches, even when augmented by flight speed, are going to do nothing, but I'm not sure if my metal shards will either. Dammit.'

A slow sigh is expelled, then Rook starts to move again, flying upwards to gain more altitude as quick as possible, seeking to get around 200 meters up and 100 or so horizontally from Orange.

"Alright. Let's hope I don't regret this."

Another deep breath, Rook then goes into a sharp dive, zooming down towards the broad back of Orange, with the intent to slam into its back with as much speed as possible. Assuming she hits (certainly not guaranteed!), and assuming that the impact doesn't stun her, she pushes off of the beastie with her feet and heads straight up to get out of range of any retaliatory attacks.

Conditions: Immune to Magic, Melee, Illusions, Possession, Poison, Drugs, And Disease. Mind Block Auto-Defense. Does not tire. Half damage from Cold. Radiates no heat and is invisible to infrared and heat sensors. Immune to pressure; solid stone. Regenerates 6d6 SDC/Melee. Magic (also items), Psionics, Supernatural, Seismic, and Dimensional/Teleportation Detection.

Awe and/or Horror Factor 14: Enemies must roll a 15 or higher on a twenty-sided die to avoid being momentarily awestruck. A failed roll means the individual loses initiative, one of his melee attacks. In this case, roll each melee round in which the character with the divine aura is attacked or speaks.

Spells:

Butcher Bill:

May notice a divine radiance coming from Sentinel and his voice a bit more compelling to the ears.

Rather than summoning as he focuses his dimensional energies, he blasts off into the air. Unexpected...can I do that again? he thinks trying to grasp what transpired. He focused on the feeling right before the blast, like a martial artist using muscle memory to repeat the last perfect kick he attempts to fire another blast. This time aimed at the giants. Let me see what happens this time. He feels the nexus energy flowing through him and outwards blasting the giant's full force.

Initiative: 1d20+8 = 22

Attacks: 10

Attacks are levied at Orange megasuaraus and alternately the other one as required. Control rolls random roll on results of 1. All successes...this time.

Action 1: Energy Expulsion: Dimensional Energy - Control Roll 1d20+8 = 21 Nexus Energy Range: 2700ft. Strike 1d20+15 = 35 Damage: 28d6 = 100 CRITICAL 200! Doubled from being at leylines

The super being is able to channel and direct dimensional energy into a deadly attack. Whenever this power is activated, the character seems to glow with bluish-white energy with miniature bolts of lightning crackling across his body.
OOC Comments
This enables the superhuman to fire a bolt of Dimensional Energy that inflicts damage plus there is a chance of a Random Dimensional Event (see Table below). The results are always unknown and random even to the super being with the Dimensional Energy ability. Roll once every time a Dimensional Energy blast is fired.
Range: 150 feet, plus 75 feet per level of experience. Double damage and double the range of the blast, as well as double the duration of the Random Dimensional Event, whenever at a ley line nexus, place of power or Rift.
Damage: Regardless of the side effect, damage from the blast is 1D6/lvl of experience. Roll once for every blast on the Random Dimensional Event Table until the character is up to level 4 at which point he begins to learn to control the effects. At level 7 and 10 he gains additional mastery over this power (see Bonuses).
Duration: Instant.
Attacks per Melee: Each blast uses one melee attack or action.
Bonuses: There are no additional bonuses for this power.
However, the super being can try at any point to exert a measure of control over the power. Initially, at the lower levels he needs to roll a D20 and on a 15 or better he can select one of the random results and this will last for the entire melee. The only bonuses that apply to this control roll are those from M.E. (save vs psionics). Add any M.E. bonuses to the D20 roll, and any result that exceeds the control roll means that one of the random results can be chosen. At level 4 the control roll drops to 12, at level 7 it drops to 9, and at level 10 it’s 6. Regardless of bonuses, a natural one always means a random result.

Random Dimensional Event Table
01-10% Nothing. What a relief, there is no dimensional side effect.
11-20% Nexus Energy: As if there is a ley line nexus present, the energy blast does double damage and has double the range (if applicable). Duration: Instant.
21-30% Teleportation. Instead of inflicting damage, whoever is struck by the Dimensional Energy blast is randomly teleported 1D4x150 yards/meters away. The teleport is never into a solid object or straight up into the air, but could be down the street, onto a rooftop, to a room inside a building, and so on. Duration: Instant.
31-40% Time Warp Fast Forward! Whoever is struck by the Dimensional Energy blast takes half damage and is teleported 2D4 minutes into the future! They seem to simply vanish only to reappear at the same location several minutes later. Duration: As noted.
41-50% Target is Temporarily Phased! Damage is 3D6 points, but the character (or object) struck becomes an intangible ghost. Depending on the situation this could be good or bad. While phased the victim is like a ghost and cannot touch or be touched, nor use or move any physical weapon, object or power, but can use psionics or magic. While phased, the victim takes no damage from physical attacks, they pass right through him, but psionics and magic have full effect on the spectral character. Duration of Event: 1D4 melee rounds.
51-60% Energy Split: When the beam of Dimensional Energy hits its intended target, it arcs to strike 1D4 other targets within 45 ft. of the initial target. These “targets” may be other people, buildings, automobiles or objects (street lamps, mailboxes, etc.). Damage is half for each person/target struck, including the initial, intended target.
61-70% Loss of Gravity. A split second after the Dimensional Energy hits something (inflicts full damage), everyone within a 150-yard radius of the impact point goes weightless, as if there were no gravity. Everyone floats into the air 3D6 feet above the ground. Unless a character has the power of flight, Gravity Manipulation or training for Zero Gravity Combat, reduce melee attacks by half, -10 on all combat maneuvers, and he cannot control the speed or direction he floats. Firing a gun or energy blast, or trying to kick or punch, causes the character to spin in slow motion and move away from his opponent. Duration of Event: 1D6 melee rounds.
71-75% No Damage, but Random Event. The target of the blast takes no damage, but a split second later, magic is negated within a 150-yard radius and no longer works. Anyone using magic is suddenly without it. Even magic weapons do half damage, cannot cast a spell or perform a magical power, nor fire energy blasts. Duration of Event: 1D6 melee rounds, double for the character initially struck by the blast if he is a creature of magic or magic-user.
76-80% No Damage, but Random Event. The target of the blast takes no damage, but a split second later all super abilities are dampened and reduced by 90%. Everyone within a 150-yard radius is affected and remains impaired for the duration of the event even if they leave the initial event radius. Duration of Event: 1D6 melee rounds, double for the character initially struck by the blast if he has super abilities.
81-90% Dimensional Anchor. The target of the blast takes full damage, but an additional dimensional event prevents anyone from using magic or a super ability (or natural ability) to teleport, dimensional teleport, open or close Rifts or any sort of dimensional portal, or change shape or appearance. The latter includes the super abilities of Alter Physical Structure, Growth, Shrink, Invisibility, become Intangibility and similar powers. Whatever state a character was in at the moment the dimensional event occurred, is the state he remains in until the duration ends. From a dimensional travel point of view, this event negates any other types of dimensional energy and powers of transformation. Likewise, all Temporal Magic and Dimensional Magic are temporarily negated and no such spells or powers can be used. Area of Effect: 300-yard radius. Duration of Event: 1D4 minutes!
91-95% Small Rift Opens. No other Dimensional Energy blasts are possible as this Rift consumes all the Dimensional Energy within a 30 yard/meter radius. The Rift is random and could lead anywhere, but considering the circumstances of the Minion War, G.M.s can opt to roll on this table for likely locations: 01-25% Rifts Earth, 26-50% Phase World (or another locale in the Three Galaxies as G.M. deems fit), 51-75% Hades, 76-00% Dyval. Characters are taken to a different world/dimension ONLY if they enter the Rift. Duration of Event: One melee round (15 seconds) before the Rift closes.
96-00% Large Rift Appears. No other Dimensional Energy blasts are possible as this Rift consumes all the Dimensional Energy within a 100 yard/meter radius. Duration of Event: 1D4+1 melee rounds (30-75 seconds) before the Rift closes.
In the alternative, the G.M. could have a monster, a villain or a squad (6-12) or platoon (20-60 troops) of demons, Deevils, aliens/D-Bees, bad guys, soldiers, dimensional raiders, etc. come out of the Rift and onto Earth where they are likely to attack or cause more problems.

Re: OMEGA BASE: The Big Takeover

RETROPOLIS
Date: Thursday April 2nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright(53 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 12:23:30 pm

Humans have a term, 'punching up', which describes taking on someone or something bigger and more powerful. It is a satisfying feeling, to take on an overpowered opponent and even win; some might say, punching up is a life affirming experience. Despite never hearing the words, Maia is learning to appreciate the sentiment as she literally punches up on the Green Megasaur. She leaves an impression, both a fist shaped impression on its leg, and on the Omegas who are quickly recognizing the gestalt as a powerful ally. Brute, follows suit and lays a crystal fist into the Megasaur's other leg and rallies the rest of the team.

Another newcomer, Scilia, also calls the heroes' attention. There are two megasaurs to deal with; the green is well contained, but there is also the orange. Sentinel unleashes the first of several waves of dimensional energy on the orange to devastating effect. Meanwhile, the other Omegas continue their coordinated battle against the monsters. Cassidy, Crucible, and Rook regroup in their own respective ways. Rook ascends to high above the Orange Megasaur for a diving attack, and Cassidy squares himself for an attack. Crucible, likewise recharges his Armor of Ithan

However, the last person to join the fray is overwhelmed by the moment. Seeing the Omegas do their thing, the Iron Maiden freezes as she tries to think of how she can help take down the Orange Megasaur. The monster zeroes in on the immobile young woman and takes a ferocious swing at her. She is caught by it and goes flying back into the garage wall (-164 S.D.C.). She slumps over and catches her breath as her arm turns into a minigun. A badass fight at a superhero base deserves a badass gun; a logic that the author would agree with on principal. The gun is comically unbalanced on her tiny frame. Her first (test) burst, goes wildly into the air. Her second burst sprays bullets into the press box.

We can only imagine the headlines if a reporter had been hit by one of those stray bullets, but thankfully, the audience has cleared out, having been warned Cassidy, Wi-Fi, and especially Crucible. An important part of being a hero is maintaining lines of communication - get the word out, minimize collateral damage, and help all casualties. Knowing this, Wi-Fi makes a mad dash to base to send a radio message. As the garage door closes she turns on the radio and starts to record her message.

And it is important work, because the Megasaurs are reacting in rage. The Green manages to get one wild swing of its fist at Maia (-124 S.D.C.) before finally falling over. The combination of Maia's and Brute's fists, along with the Sentinel's dimensional energies is too much for it to handle. Orange, sensing the threat that the Terracotta Warrior represents, unleashes an energy blast that flies over his head and destroys the press box. Thankfully, before it can wreck more havoc on the scene Crucible uses another Carpet of Adhesion to immobilize it. The combined attacks of Cassidy, Scilia, Crucible continue to put the Megasaur as it tries to ward off attacks. Disoriented and wounded, Rook's dive bomb brings the creature to its knees for a final energy blast from Sentinel to finish the job.

Two megasaur corpses are splayed on the driveway. The press and public are cowering across the street trying to take photos of the assembled Omegas in action, and sirens can be heard in the distance.

WHAT DO YOU DO?

Butcher's Bill (for this round)
Crucible: -10 P.P.E.
Iron Maiden: -164 S.D.C.; -3 H.P.
Maia: -124 S.D.C

Notes
Iron Maiden: Be more precise when you are describing how you are creating a weapon. If you are using your Transformation Activation and Control Interface, say so. Secondly, you do not have the weapon proficiency for using a minigun, so both of your shots are at -5 strike, NOT +1.
Rook: My take on the situation is you will a few (3) actions to fly high enough to get enough speed to reach 200 mph, then one to dive, then one to bomb. So you can do one effective dive bomb in an action. To do multiple dive attacks you would need to build speed for each attack.
Wi-Fi: You have 15 seconds to do everything you listed, so I will grant you got to the radio and opened communications, you have not yet said anything.

Being hit by the Megasaur hurts quite a bit, Chastity estimates it will take three hours to heal completely. She can take it, but it is no fun. Good thing she is used to pain.

She manages to manifest her weapon design and to fire a hail of bullets.

Chastity finds herself a victim of Newton's law, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So in throwing out a burst of bullets, she is thrown around...and being flying in mid-air she is certainly not braced for it.

She says to herself, Hmmm, next time I have to build in a recoil compensator, or at least I might need to be on a solid surface and braced before I try that.

She is new at this, no not everything she does is going to work right.

She comments, "I do not know whether these things are alive or dead, but either way, how are we going to deal with like twenty tons of slack meat?"

I need someone to cordon off these bodies - there's no telling what kind of environmental threat they may pose." There's no way I'm touching them or their primordial goo. last time I touched enemy goo, I ended up sprouting two new bug arms. He turns to Maia. "Thank you for your help... sometimes there are threats to... 'the life', and that's what we're here to stop. You were a great help, and I'd love it if you stuck around."

With that, he will proceed to the few press still here. "Ladies and gents, sorry for the interruption - we're waiting to see if that's the all-clear, or if it's just a first wave. I'd advise you all to seek shelter... preferably in another part of town, for now. We will have an official statement at another time. For now, just remember the Omegas are on the job - we're here to protect you."

As Green goes down, Maia rounds on Orange- only to see it taken down in similar fashion. With the threat eliminated for now, Maia settles down- her tone and posture become a little less aggressive, the vines that compose her body are writhing a little less energetically, and her intellect operates a little below the human norm. However, it still isn’t lost on Maia that the humans’ teamwork carried the day- which poses a bit of a problem for her. Too much. No wonder. Cannot fight alone. Cannot wait for full strength to return. What to do?

As the threat recedes, however, Maia’s thoughts turn to more immediate desires. She won’t shy away from any of the blood and other remnants left in the wake of the Megasaurs’ defeat, and while the vines making up her body aren’t carnivorous per se, blood frequently has nutrients that are all too rare in the plant world so if given the opportunity she will encourage them to drink up. Assuming the sensation isn’t unpleasant, she will wriggle her “toes” in enjoyment. She will also take the opportunity to rejuvenate herself, concentrating and channeling life energy into her plant body to heal some of the damage to it ((-1 healing touch, +62 SDC)).

Maia looms over Brute deliberately for a couple of seconds before responding, a little calmer than she was earlier but her tone still conveying menace. ”HUMANS. PROTECT THEMSELVES, FIRST, THEN THE LIFE. NOT IF YOU WANT MY HELP.” Maia will accept any reasonable response to this, then sigh and say once more but without much feeling ”WHERE ARE THE SANDWICHES?” If the sandwiches are provided and/or pointed out, Maia will sigh again and say (with a little more irritation), ”FAERIES. ALWAYS THINKING WITH THEIR STOMACHS.” Ignoring the civilians, Maia will continue to stand where she is, soaking up the sun. If the team stays there for more than 10 minutes, she will disperse herself and take a brief nap.

That is good news she the mutant thinks. Better to ask for info and intel instead of help. The new development meant a change of content.

"This is Wifi of the Omega's- I have a change of situation. Megasour is down. If you have any intel on him I would appreciate the assist. Wi-Fi out" and proceeds to the war room to manage comms and dig up intel as she listens. Information is of no use if one does not know the proper context.

"Let's see what we have on the former dinosaur." she stated, "Computer get all you have on the subject: 'Megasour'. Also look up a list of Paleotolist. and starts checking comm frequencies.

Once she gets the communication monitor going on its own observes the intel as it comes in. This attack could be random but that does not mean others will not take advantage of this. The other concern she had was that there were two of them. How many more could be roaming about made her want to know. this time she would double-check her work for sure. Hmmm I don't have any good sources on the science of big creatures that shrunk down to birds. I really need more nerd credit. she frowned.

Chastity will morph her arms back to normal, they kind of unbalance her in their current forms.

If she hears Brute's orders, Chastity will take to the air and look around the area. Hopefully she will recognize a threat if she sees one. Assuming she does see one, she will morph a flare gun and send up a flare (which I will assume is something like a grenade). She might be able to morph a radio, but she would need the frequency it is on, something she has no way to tell.

With the Megasaurs taken out, at least for the moment, Sicilia coils up on herself, head held roughly at human-height as she takes a moment to calm down. Did I really just help with that? Work with the Omegas to take out a building-sized monster? Her bite marks on the ankle of the orange giant are difficult to see, but definitely present. Still, she has other pressing matters on her mind. She left her notes... somewhere, and needs to retrieve them, and at least get something written down. Having seen Sentinel in action, she would have to revise some of her notes. He definitely had the power to back up his bravado.

Her immediate concern, however fell in line relatively well with what Brute wanted, even if she can't hear his orders over the radio. She slithers back along the garage where she funneled a number of the civilians, finding them and reaching out with her mind to speak to them. Those two are down, let's get you all out of here. Safely, please! She puts as much expression as she can into her reptilian face as she tries to lead those who had taken shelter behind the HQ out of the Omega's base entirely, in case something further occurred. She doesn't want them getting hurt because they were attacked by something unexpected. She keeps her eyes peeled, tongue flicking out with a hiss to taste the air for anything out of place. Aside from the smell of giant dead lizard, of course, she's more interested if there's the smell of giant live lizard anywhere.

Sicilia nods, hardly pausing in her escorting of the remaining civvies and press. She directs her Mental Speech directly at Brute, him being the only one who can hear this particular message. I think Wi-Fi already started us on that process, what with deputizing us on the fly. I'd be honored to be considered for the Omegas in a more officiated manner. Let's make sure there aren't any other discount kaiju running about first, though.

She gives Maia a wide berth, in part to make sure the civilians aren't going to get too close and trigger another anti-human reaction from the plant creature, and out of a wish to remain distant from the strange being herself, for the moment.

RETROPOLIS
Date: Thursday April 2nd, 2043
Weather: Outside: Sunny, warm, bright(53 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 12:23:30-12:30 pm

With the Megasaurs down, the situation begins to calm itself. Many of the media who were previously exercising a healthy distance from the grounds are now flocking back with their cameras and voice recorders. The vine monster becomes notably less aggressive and plants its roots in the blood seeping out from the wounds of the giant dinosaur-men. The huge snake heads through the alley to the back of the headquarters to mentally guide the civilians that she helped escape certain destruction. Most of them seem in some state of hyper vigilance. There are a couple of younger folks who have a drone following them and they seem to be speaking into it. Brute speaks with Iron Maiden and Sicilia to offer them positions with the team, knowing that their other options are not particularly pleasant. He then goes to do the same with Maia who is currently drinking the blood of their fallen enemies. Brute and everyone else are interrupted by the swarm of reporters staring at them. The media erupts with questions for the group after their victory.

"Brute! What caused this attack?"
"Sentinel! Is it true that you are an alien from Saturn sent to destroy our way of life?"
"Brute! What is your team's stance on Operation Overlord?"
"Rook! How did you get your wings so shiny?"
"Barricade! Big fan here! What do you have to say to the ladies of Century Station?"
"Rook! Babe! It's widely known that flying is wack. Like, what else can you do?"
"Brute! What's the deal with the plant and the snake and the gun lady? They on the team?"
"Crucible! Are those magic sunglasses?"
"Barricade! Lobert Riefeld here from the Askani Sun. Do you think your team is properly equipped to handle big threats with so few pouches and no big guns?"
"Brute! What's your favorite kind of ice cream?"
"Sentinel! Are you in fact a man controlling a robot from far away?"
"Brute! Brute! Over here! What do you say to the rumors going around that you and Heartbreaker are a thing?"
"Barricade! Bigger fan! What do you have to say to the laddies of Century Station?"
"Where's Wi-Fi? How come she's silver? Does she have alopecia or is that a stylistic statement?"

At the entrance to the driveway, C.H.I.M.E.R.A. clean up crews can be seen setting up.

Wi-Fi is inside making calls.
Wi-Fi wrote:"This is Wifi of the Omega's- I have a change of situation. Megasour is down. If you have any intel on him I would appreciate the assist. We had two of the Dinosaurs and I would like to ascertain if there are more. Be warned with all the press and the police focused other criminals might try to capitalize on the situation. Wi-Fi out"

"Wait... This is Chip at C.H.I.M.E.R.A. Dispatch. The log says there was a giant mega sour attacking the base. And that you wanted a shrink ray? And flashbangs and sonics and... are the two dinosaurs eating the giant mega sour candy or not? I'm confused. Criminals might try to capitalize on an oversized sour candy? We sent C.S.P.D. to help clean up. If you need more than that, you can send a request via CityNet Mail, it's my lunch time." The phone is obviously pulled away from the dispatcher's face as it's rather quiet suddenly, but Wi-Fi can hear "They've got some jokers over there at the Omega Base. Something about a giant gumball and some dinosaurs... What? Look at what screen? Oh. Oh fuck." The volume of the phone resumes its normal level. "Ma'am, let me do a quick search. You meant to ask about Megasaur, correct? Well, he hasn't been seen since the Gramercy Island jailbreak that started your group. Uh... Size manipulation, energy blasts, excellent eyesight. Not much else on file for him. You said there were two? I've got nothing here on that. Apologies, ma'am."

Searching for Megasaur on your own pulls up some of the data that the C.H.I.M.E.R.A. dispatch gave her over the phone. A search for local paleontologists reveals a local teacher at Everett Community College by the name of Tony Vista.

What are you doing?
Let the GAMES begin.

As both Megasaurs crash into the ground, his vision supplied to him by his eye tells him the fate of the creatures as their auras dissipate before his eyes. Killing was not something he enjoyed doing, but as a soldier, it was not his first time. He kept an eye on his new teammates in case any of them reacted badly to what they'd had to do.

As all the reporters reappear and begin bombarding them with questions, he is for a second off guard. This many people running at him normally meant attack or rescue needed.

Blackhaunt wrote:"Crucible! Are those magic sunglasses?"

Crucible suppresses a laugh at the question
"Normal goggles I'm afraid. Nothing special about them. Maybe if we give them a distinctive look, we could merchandise them." he replies, an element of mirth in his voice.

"If anybody has suffered any injuries during the fight," he points to an area that is currently free of bodies and reporters, "come over here and I will heal you." he shouts to make himself heard over the noise.

If anybody is wounded, he will cast heal wounds on them or cure minor disorder depending on what they say afflicts them.

After a quick, and unsuccessful, sweep of the area, Chastity returns and stops by to talk with Brute.

Seeing that Brute was still busy, she stops to talk with her friends from CHIMERA first. She will ask one of them to take the borrowed car back for her, as she might be busy for a while. She does have to answer a few questions from them:

Yes, she has super powers...you do not think you can make it as a super hero without SOMETHING going for you, now do you?

She will try to come back to work, but the Omegas may wind up eating most of her time. Obviously she needs a bit of training.

No, she can not tell them where her powers came from, that is a secret.

When Brute gets free, she will go and talk with him next.

To him, she will say, "You can call me Iron Maiden. I am kind of new, but my powers have a lot of utility. I just need practice. I do want to join the Omegas, though I have a Job with CHIMERA I would like to keep if I can. I will understand if that is not possible. I am sure you have a lot of questions, there are some I can not answer due to prior promises, but I will answer what I can privately. I am sure out in public is not the best place to discuss such things."

As Brute is busy trying to secure the area, he tries to avoid the reporters as much as possible, but this becomes impossible as they are soon swarmed.

"Brute! What caused this attack?"

"Criminals."

"Brute! What is your team's stance on Operation Overlord?"

"You'd have to ask them. We don't have an official position."

"Brute! What's the deal with the plant and the snake and the gun lady? They on the team?"

Brute smiles. "They certainly are. As of just now. As I said before, the Omegas are hiring."

"Brute! What's your favorite kind of ice cream?"

"uh, Chocolate."

"Brute! Brute! Over here! What do you say to the rumors going around that you and Heartbreaker are a thing?"

Intelligence 54% 1d100 = 45 (what do I know about Heartbreaker from CSPD's files? SUCCESS)

Streetwise 64% 1d100 = 72 (What have I heard about Heartbreaker on the streets? FAIL)

Brute smiles. "We actually haven't met. I doubt very much that she, whoever she is, enjoys being the subject of those kind of rumors though. I certainly don't."

He holds his hands up, "That's enough questions for now - we'll have another press event soon, but right now there's work to be done, and you guys are preventing us from doing it."

Once CSPD damage control arrives to cart off the Megasaur corpses, Brute heads inside, ushering Sicilia, Iron Maiden, and Maia along with him.

Once inside, he turns to the kitchen. "We can talk in here." He gets out some bread and begins making a stack of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as they talk.

"Iron Maiden... we've had agents before who part-timed with Sector 10 or CSPD, so I don't imagine the deal would be any different with CHIMERA on the whole - but you'd have to take that up with Director Balisong."

To Sicilia, he says "Hell yeah we want you onboard - you're not the first mutant animal on this team - the third, I'd think, after Mason Diaz and Zhana, but as long as you do your thing you're welcome with us."

Finishing up the sandwiches, he puts them all on a plate, and hands them to Maia. "Consider these sandwiches a good will gesture. We fight to protect life.. THE life... but you gotta recognize that humans are part of the life, not separate from it. Do we sometimes make mistakes? Sure? Do we sometimes do the wrong thing? Sure. But we're trying to learn. Let me show you something. Please follow me."

Brute leaves the kitchen and walks to the back courtyard - a memorial garden with a pool and statuary.

Turning to Maia. "This place is two things - first, I figure you'll want a spot with sun, soil, and water. This place has all three, so feel free to make yourself at home here. Secondly, these, " he gestures to the statues, "...are memorials to Omegas who have died defending the life. We've stopped a nuclear explosion, stopped multiple types of zombies, stopped an invasion by machines who wanted to destroy all organic life, and just today, giant freaks who only want to destroy. Whenever we find a threat to the life, we try to fight it. We try to stop it. I think we're very similar, in fact, you and us. I think if we learn to understand each other, we'll be a hell of a team. And you... you can guide us to being better defenders of the life."

Brute will make sure all three members are given full access to the Omega HQ and it's various features, and reports to Balisong on the new members.

For Iron Maiden, Sicilia, and Maia
Be sure to claim rooms for your characters. Maia can have an inside room if she wants one but I think she'll be happier outside. :)

To all outward appearances, Maia is content to stand unmoving and uncaring amidst the barrage of questions and other activity from the heroes and civilians around her. Normally, the removal of the threat posed by the megasaurs would have Maia’s intellect relaxing to the point where it more closely resembles an active houseplant, but as the human crowd pushes forward Maia is forced to confront the fact that she needs a plan. The humans will not be easily intimidated this time around- their technology suggested it, and these megasaurs confirm it. If only it were still 5,000 years ago, and they were just learning agriculture again. She wanted to go back to sleep- to recover more of her strength, to the point where she could challenge humanity directly. But wishes would not help The Life, and The Life needed help now. There were no guarantees her power would return to her at all if she allowed the human infestations to multiply unchecked, but she couldn’t do anything about the infestations until more of her power returned. It was quite the pickle. She needed another option.

Fortunately, it seems that the local human protector was inclined to provide her with one. Maia does not like going inside one bit, but the humans and their clamoring questions were beginning to get on her nerves. Perhaps a respite would be a good idea- she could always punch a hole in the ceiling. With a rumbling sigh, Maia will trail after the others.
Brute wrote:"Consider these sandwiches a good will gesture. We fight to protect life.. THE life... but you gotta recognize that humans are part of the life, not separate from it. Do we sometimes make mistakes? Sure? Do we sometimes do the wrong thing? Sure. But we're trying to learn. Let me show you something. Please follow me."
Maia considers the sandwiches for a moment, then angrily growls ”FAERIES…” So they were not a weapon. Growling again, ”UNIMPORTANT.” Maia’s head and attention swivel away from the proffered sandwiches, and to Brute. He is young. But she was inclined to think him sincere- possibly even a little wise. Maia had seen the twinned beauty and horror of nature reflected many times over the eons- including the Omegas’ team leader, and she understood the wisdom of his words on an intuitive level. At the same time, it was hard for her to let go of her outrage and anger at what they had done to The Life. The plant gestalt wrestled with conflicting impulses as Brute spoke, though she gave no sign, but in the end Maia’s logic centers overrode the rest of her being. They needed a third option. Maybe this was it. Her tone conveys a jumble of suspicion, curiosity, and maybe even a little respect as she replies, ”WE GO.”

Brute wrote:Brute leaves the kitchen and walks to the back courtyard - a memorial garden with a pool and statuary.
Maia perks up once she realizes they’re going back outside, and seems a great deal more relaxed as she strides into the middle of the garden and takes it all in, listening to Brute’s tale. She does not know what some of Brute’s words mean- no doubt some of humanity’s other, recent, self-inflicted catastrophes. However, she must admit he has a point. Undead are an abomination. Machine’s that destroy all life don’t sound good, either. Perhaps this was a viable third option. Hmmm… Yes. Cooperate with some of the humans to destroy other, worse humans. A cull of the most invasive and aggressive members of the species would be best from a long-term, evolutionary standpoint and the most efficient method of achieving her goals over the short-term. If the Omegas were in fact in a position to help her do that. She supposed that she had no reason not to give them a chance to prove it, one way or the other. She could always kill them or leave later if she wanted. With another rumbling sigh, she responds. ”WILL TRY YOUR WAY.” Maia strides towards the tree at the center of the garden, lays a hand on it, and turns back to Brute. ”I LIVE HERE NOW.” With that, Maia dissolves into the tree, and begins reaching out to commune with the plants in the garden around her. Mostly, she is just interested in soaking up more sun, but if this place holds any memories of the Omegas she will seek them out.
