Questions to answer:
Captain Marks wrote:I very much liked the use of the Radio Broadcast #17 to touch upon the EPIC.

A Top 10 things to know would be swell. Below are some primers I spent some time thinking up to help lubricate the gerbils wheel.

:How long is the Epic slated to last? Absolutely ONE quad or additional quads based on pacing? As well, If a group is able to sustain a faster post rate than other groups will their GM be allowed to accelerate with the members rate in turn if desired and able to reciprocate the players enthusiasm? (Of course usual standards apply and nobody is required to post more than site minimums dictate.)

: Do we get to keep our character's normal gear? This is a big deal to gear reliant folks who've earned their growth potential in this manner. Do they come with all or are they to select their personal load out of weapons, armor, items, transport that they can utilize? IE: Transport might be a robot jocky's raison d'etre, or for Silhouette my character she earned a PPE/ISP battery just recently as a bracelet, which is her most valuable asset boosting her OOC's inefficient magecraft potential to just that of a proper Wizard of her level. Likewise mundane warriors, sneaks, and utilitarians like the robo-jock will be firmly attached to their favorite sword, rifle, ride or toolbox with all the strategies incumbent on using those possessions. (A thought; taking their existing gear greatly reduces the itemization required of the Gm's to populate equipment for the new arrivals on the Epic scene, freeing up a great deal of time to instead focus on the adventure crafting, leaving itemization of any kind to only be required for supplemental gear found in the field.)

:Is there potential for characters in the Epic to come away with gear (That character's home dimension influencing the gear) upon completion? As in there being an existentially awaking back in their dimension with memory intact and a token of concrete evidence and appreciation in hand from whatever entity summoned them?

:Do characters get EP for post rate per each game (epic & dimension) at each quad in addition to the individual XP? Or is the EP reward for the quad implied to be the 10 EP reward for completing the Epic?

:If a character dies in the Epic, but is not vaporized might there be potential for the Hero to be resurrected? Front line fighters take all the risk after all. Or is it implied; support better keep their fighter alive lest they be served up to the enemy next?

:Any words of wisdom for the players? What made the players successful in the last Epic? Standard stuff like don't split up? Don't go alone? Eat your vegetables, drink your ovaltine, and use marmite sparingly on your toast?

I would like to hear a group spotlight that would be a simple current events for a particular group and the current members. I mentioned a stand alone segment for it but I think it would be interesting. If one group is covered each week, by the time the first group highlighted rolls around again (about a year) there should be a lot to share.

Additionally, I think it would be more interesting to hear it from outsider perspectives.

So an outline something like this:

Group Name
Group Theme (if there is one)
Group Members (just names and OCC/RCC) and open slots in the group.
Current Mission
•Location
•Challenges in the current adventure thread
•Successes in the current adventure thread
•Current goal

Reminders for future EP Contest - Redo the Deathblow to make it usable (will include modifying HTH Combat entries on a limited basic
Example: Replace Level Hand to Hand: Assassin Level 12 Benefit with: Level 12: +2 to pull punch and death blow using house rules.
Replace Level Hand to Hand: Martial Arts Level 15 Benefit with: Level 15: Death blow using house rules.

------------------------------------------------------------

EP Bounty Suggestion: Create Generic/Mook bad guys by OCC/Race - equipment neutral (just skills, cybernetics, and powers) - 1 EP per [4 mooks*].
*Requirement mutable, but I suggest over 1 EP to one NPC, but not 1 EP per 10 mooks. Will require a list of requested mooks, including different levels (I suggest 1, 4, 7, and 10). Note there's no reason the same person has to do all four levels. It'd be interesting to have four variations, not leveled versions of the same character. Again, disposition and personality neutral, but not every gladiator should focus on net; some might use javelins and spears.

------------------------------------------------------------

Revised Epic Idea - concerted attack on one or more Xiticix Hives. And by concerted I mean every group that signs on will be dealing with it as a single shared story - handled individually by each GM, and adjudicated by Augur and two other GMs on a meta-level. Big thing this will do is require all groups to get back to MercTown and start from a single time point, with a short prep time. Note - it will also raise prices as every major merc group moves to fulfill the contract. This will also be running at the same time as the current Phaseworld Epic, for the purposes of keeping prices high even for those who have access to Center. GMs will be given a choice of "objectives" to fulfill.

Major Objective
    Step 1
    Step 2
    Step 3

There will be full success (+2), partial success (+1), and failure (-1) marks for each Step, and those will be added together and compared to a chart
0 or less: You have failed in your task, the overall effort is made harder.
1-3: You have done your part.
4+: You have done well, and the overall effort is made easier.

The overall effort is rated by adding all the objectives together: full success (+2), partial success (+1), and failure (-1)
0 or less: The Hive(s) are undamaged and the Xiticix have won the day
1 to [number of groups+2]: The Hive(s) are damaged and the efforts of the group here are set back 2d6x10 months.
[Number of groups +3] and higher: The Hive(s) and Queen(s) are destroyed. The local forces are in disarray.

Issues: Any GMs that opt in will have to have their groups back by a deadline and that deadline cannot be telegraphed to the players. GMs who have PCs in other groups will just have to not metagame. :P This is to prevent folks getting around the mad rush to arm up. Of course a prudent character is always prepared for anything. :D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will get with you on Sunday afternoon (by 5 Eastern) if I can join. I hope to be able to.

Clickbait

Postby Tyrannosapiens Rex » Sun Dec 03, 2017 5:44 pm

Of all the things encountered in the Megaverse, the most vile and evil are not the demons, or Alien Intelligences. No, even the Old Ones pale in vileness to the Human Tyrant King. For, only he treats his own kind, every day of his life, with the kind of careless attitude the Old Ones treated the so-called lesser races.
