The Finale: The Dragon of Dread

Postby Erva » Wed Jan 17, 2018 10:38 pm

Time and Date: 8:15pm, 4/4/345
Conditions: Dangerous, the air is dry, hot and stale.
End Round 1, Round 2
Spells and other timed effects are only down 15 seconds, one full round.
Combat on technical pause.

Chaos, fear, rage. Linden finds himself gripping the side of the cliff, a mere inch from falling into the chasm below as both Sera and Thorgrim are knocked down and away, a large gashing cut across Thorgrim's chest. A flash of fire, in the Dragon's ire, it makes it's presence known. A plum of smoke is seen beyond the pile of gold as the group is met face-to-face with the true enemy of their land, the dragon. It's fangs are are shown and its eyes flash as it takes a step forward from the darkness, the pile of gold nearly gone from its size and as the Dragon moves, the darkness fades and the rest of the group can see the remainder of the room they are in.
The Dark Dragon

Behind the darkness

The dragon takes a moment to thoroughly look over the field, and locks eyes with Linden who is still hanging on and offers the slightest of snorts. This tells Linden all he needs to know, he doesn't need Vemrin anymore, this is his mark. Tyral can practically feel the magical energies flowing from this fiend as it looks in their direction and fires another burst. Completely missing them but collapsing the passage behind them, it then speaks in a mocking tone.

"Little mice, your trust was misplaced. All of Llorn shall suffer for your insolence." It states, curving its head to look at the group and not otherwise moving; its voice is cold and dark, running in a low growl. Everyone gets the feeling it is letting them make the first move. The knot in Linden's back tightens. Everyone can see a small funnel of light from beyond, high in the ceiling. Not reachable yet due to the Dragon but a possible escape.

Everyone please Save vs HF.
This is a freebie round, the Dragon makes no attacks but its posture is extremely aggressive and also dismissive.
"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. Through knowledge, they gain opinions. Through opinions, they wage wars. Through wars, knowledge dies and ignorance is reborn. Through ignorance, mortals remain the slaves of knowledge, and are masters of nothing."

Fox has no swift healing abilities, even though he is forced to remain below because he can not actually fly, only float. It also takes him minutes to do any healing, it is the only reason he wants to learn some actual magic.

He simply floats away after enhancing Thorgrim and waits for a chance to do something useful.

Of course, right now looking like he is paralyzed with fear (whether or not he is), is about all he is doing. That is a DRAGON, not something he wants to confront.

The elemental Gale is gone. The gods help us he thought as the dragon revealed itself. He could feel something protecting him, though he could not see it and he felt faster somehow. Even so, he instinctively ducked as flames passed overhead, but they weren’t the target as the Dragon’s breath weapon struck the entrance to the tunnel they’d come down, bringing rubble crashing down and blocking any possible retreat.

“By the gods, now we’re trapped.” He exclaimed under his breath.

Durak twirled his axe, the magics of the cape given him by their employers protecting him from the fearsome presence of the Dragon.
I should feel scared, but I feel like I could take on the world. He looked around, taking stock of the situation. They could face a Dragon; they had the weapons and magic, but the group down below needed a chance to reorganise after the Dragon’s attack. Right now, the one he hadn’t seen before was dangling off the ledge where the Dragon had pushed him. He was a sitting duck for the Dragon.

“Sil, Tatyana, Zephyr, Tyral, go for the eyes. If we can blind, even temporarily, that gives those down below a chance to regroup and get back in the fight.”
He sized up the Dragon and readied Haarlbrax. Fixing his gaze, he threw his axe with unerring precision into the Dragon’s eyes, determined to blind it. If it can’t see, then its attacks would be far less effective.

Zephyr's eyes watch in horror and his jaw drops as the flames cut through his ally; he closes his mouth and offers a slight nod. Thank you brother, you have served me well, I hope to have the chance to work with you again. He thinks to himself as he looks around for the source of the flame. He narrows his normally naive and accepting eyes in anger at the dark dragon that has made it's presence known and activates the guild cloak's abilities to protect him from the next onslaught.

He winces as the fire splashes behind them and glances down at Durak suggesting the eye shots and nods. "Excellent Idea..." Zephyr remarks quietly to himself and tightens the knot on his Pale Shroud, activating Fleet Feet then unleashing a flurry of lightning one could almost guess was out of pure anger.

Dark scales framing coal red eyes. This image was now stamped into her mind along side the similarly awful visage of Vald Tegor. Red eyes in a pale dark face. Shivering internally the changeling could not help but draw a correlation with this dragon to the vampire god reminded of those eyes and the demand made of her. Moving to the edge of the cliff she felt compelled, not magically, but by self-preservation to not give cause for that being to ever look at her again as she says words of magic, blade magic. Feet of the Cat (-6 PPE)

Strengthening herself mind over matter (Strength of Mind -10 ISP) before she leaps from the height to land preternaturally without a slowing of her gate as she moves to her allies, head turned with a feral attention to the dragon in the darkness, expecting sword sharp teeth to try and consume her. Rescuing the nearly fallen warrior. (Using Strength of Mind -10 ISP) and then Resist Damage psychic power after she jumps down. -25 ISP)

Reaching the man hanging from the precipice of the ravine she pulls him up with the same strength that lent her means to leap from a towering height. Casting yet more magic as she hauls him up she endows the man with cat-like reflexes. (Fleet Feet -24 PPE)

Turning she throws her head as if to gesture to the man to follow as she approaches Thorgrim giving the warrior a wave and a friendly pat of his bicep casting Armor of Ithan on the warrior.

Linden takes the moment of pause to regain his footing and offer his own glare towards the dragon. Linden's eyes flash crimson as his target is finally upon him, the dragon that claimed his Clan nearly a century ago. The memories of the fire, the smell of burning flesh and the sound of screams are forever scarred into his mind, as is the shadow of the beast that was responsible. I suppose I should thank this fiend, it is due to its actions that I met my Lady and was set on the path of vengeance.

Linden, completely unfazed by the Dragon's presence as it snuffs out the elemental and blocks the passage for his allies up top. When the dragon makes eye contact with him and snorts, Linden scowls and narrows his eyes. "So you do remember me, worm?" He says loud enough to be heard. When Linden feels the knot in his back, he rolls his shoulders and looks up, past the dragon. I've felt this type of knot in my back before, could the eyes of Zandragal be upon me? He thinks to himself.

Dark Dragon wrote:"Little mice, your trust is misplaced. All of Llorn shall suffer for your insolence."

Linden takes a deep breathe as his allies move to engage the beast around him and then pulls on the knot in his back, activating his draconic abilities to attack and closing his helmet on his Medusan Plate. "It'll take more than fire to stop me this time, worm." Linden mutters.

Sera stands as her armor is reduces to shreds of leather and cloth; she feels exposed. She takes a moment and grants Armor of Ithan on herself as her only means of protection currently, then readies the defenses by offered by the Guild Cape. Our good Archon knew what he was doing when it came to these items. We'd be more hard-pressed than current to fight such a fiend without it. She muses and rips off the remaining shreds of leather leaving only basic cloth covering her body. She scowls, I hate feeling so exposed, may need to put in a requisition through the Church or the Archon for more suitable equipment. She readies her blood-red blade and glances up at the Dragon, ready to meet her foe eye to eye to fang.

"Little mice, your trust was misplaced. All of Llorn shall suffer for your insolence."

She shakes her head at the beast, "You'll not lay a single claw on the people of Llorn, mark my words." She states and goes into a ready position to attack.

Thorgrim growls like a rabid animal, from the deep cut left by the Soulhunter. As the Soulhunter apparently vanished, he thinks What the hell!? Is this something for me to remember you by!?.
The appearance of a Dragon is something of awe to the barbarian, thankful that he had tapped into the magic guild cape for it’s fancy schmancy magical bravery, yet a dragon is something Thor had only had heard tales of to this point.
There is no doubt that this thing means to destroy us all, and Llorn..., ”Very well then beast. So be it!” Thorgrim barks to no one in particular. The barbarian rushes to the closest possible point of attack against the dragon, his great shield raised high to block any breath attack lest he too be consumed by the fire so far displayed... Tatyana emerged thought the opening into the cavern where her team mates had gone, getting lost was embarrassing and she hoped no one noticed, just as a huge ball of fire comes hurdling toward her. By the grace of one god or another, the Wolfen gets out of harms way, only to be covered in a cloud dust.
Walking out of the choking mess with her Northholme-Hex Flamberge held firmly in her hand, Tatyana can see her companions, the other group from the guild and a dragon, “....a D-d-d-dragon.” she quietly stammers.
Quickly regaining her wits, she activates the cloaks abilities to make her impervious to horror and fire. The Hunter tries to recall what she's learned about (Lore: Magic [25%]-1d100:

Trask lets out a growl. "A Dragon... If I never saw one again it's too soon." The old mercenary says as he looks about for trouble with his dead eye. Trask makes his way around the gorge using the ledge nearby to bypass the infinite abyss below. As his tired old legs pump his heavily armored kiester around the bend, Trask readies his long sword to bring the fight to the dragon. Utu will appreciate this soul. Round 2, Begin.
Sixth Sense conditions no longer active, deduct any times by 15 seconds unless stated refreshed in the post. Keep track of your own timers, if I have too you will see the power vanish.

The presence of the Dragon is a terrorizing thing as its full body is visible now that the unnatural darkness it was producing as filtered away for the most part, there is still a mist of shadows at the beast's feet. Taking their queue to attack, the full might of their powers are unleashed on this fiend.

Trask and Thorgrim take to the right perch immediately to find their way to the dragon's stoop and between an assault. Thorgrim has never faced a foe such as this before, it's raw power and strength stifle that of things from the past. This dragon can survive the most brutal of assaults from mortals and still be kicking. Thorgrim can also tell that it wouldn't take much for this dragon snuff a few of them out thanks to the Foe-bane, though the news isn't good at least the Barbarian knows a little more about the foe they are facing. Thorgrim's Foe-bane reveals a most troubling aspect in that this dragon has no major weaknesses beyond light, no magic nor elemental vulnerabilities.

Trask, during the charge, activates his sight but due to the chaos can only see wisps around that weren't there before his sight; he is unable to make out specifics at the moment. Both the Veteran Mercenary and the Barbarian engage the dragon from the front sides followed closely by Tatyana who took a daring leap over the chasm, where Linden was hanging. The Wolfen Undead Hunter queues her school's ace in the hole and attacks with the strength of Utgard Loki. The three of them can only watch as some of their strikes merely bounce off the dragon's scales, and the strikes that make it hit about as hard as solid oak would against stone.

Meanwhile, Durak comes to a focus that is new even to him as all of his strikes hit true to the Dragon's right eye, with each throw allowing the axe to return to him. To his dismay, the dragon's eye was not carved out but Durak can tell the dragon is by no means happy and the eye does seem cut or scarred as the dragon's eyelid shuts on it, protecting the weak tissue.

Silhouette manages to make her way down and aids Linden in getting up while casting Fleet Feet on the Dragon Hunter, Thorgrim also feels a refreshed Armor of Ithan shield him when Silhouette leaps like a cat to the dragon's platform. Silhouette is able to dart around the dragon to stay out of the frontal area.

Linden feeling the speed garnered by Fleet Feet closes the space quickly and comes down on the dragon from above while using his dragon-given abilities. In the back of his head, he hears a female voice he is all too familiar with. This won't be enough to fell this foe. Feel the knot in your back; pull on it and use it to save your friends. His claw-like hands wielding his sword come down on the dragon and there is an apparent tear in scales of the dragon from Linden's attack. There is a brief moment during the engagement where Linden looks to see a malevolent glare coming down from above onto him.

Sera and Predat both make their way over to the Dragon's platform a moment later than the others with Predat immediately darting behind the dragon to engage. To Predat's annoyance, his first attack glides off the scales but the next few hit true and he can see wear and tear on the draconic scale armor but he hasn't broken through yet. As Predat continues his assault he notices that his attacks, while doing damage, aren't making enough of an impact yet. He does get one lucky strike that briefly lodges the blade into the scales of the dragon, breaking some of the scales off when he removes the blade.

Meanwhile Sera moves to where Linden and Thorgrim are right at the front of the dragon's gaze and engages the foe. Sera is able to determine that this is a Night-stalker Dragon, known for cruelty and wickedness even among other dragons, they are only weak against direct sunlight and she is able to recall that it is still night outside. The ray of light shown beyond the dragon may belong to something else; but she also knows that this dragon, like a great deal of other supernatural creatures is both greedy and overconfident. Her attacks leave her to come with the same realization that it is going to take a moment to chip away at this natural armor.

Fox takes a moment to ready himself and is able to cast his spells unhindered. Zephyr, momentarily unhinged by the dragon is able to collect himself and attack in a furious bolt-storm of lightning after summoning a Phantom to replace his felled kin and activate some other defenses. Him and the Phantom engage by whip-lashing lightning at the dragon's eye and head. Several of the strikes hit the head, neck or wing of the dragon but none of them hit the eye directly and several zap past their target into the ruins beyond.

Tyral during this moment of lightning and physical attacks tries to turn the dragon's shadow against him with Warpshadow. As Linden looks up to see the glare of the dragon descending on him, all of those on the platform with the dragon immediately see that the shadow of the dragon has come to life and lurches to consume the dragon like a snake would constrict its prey. Tyral immediately sees that his attempt failed as the dragon rips through its own shadow as his full wing-span extends, breaking through the shadow and completely blocking the sight of the ruins beyond; returning the room to darkness. Then everyone hears a low growl that seems to shake the room as Tyral hears the dragon address him; "One of your kind delving into shadow-magic is intriguing; you would make a worthy ally, elf. Cast down these weaklings and join me, I can promise you such magical prowess and knowledge that you nor your family will never know fear again." Tyral now connects that this is a Night-stalker dragon, a dark and powerful breed, weak only to daylight. The dragon's knowledge of magic suddenly explains why Tyral feels the potent energies flowing from the dragon. Brago stays with Tyral to a the heel, this being out of the wolf's league.

There is another flash and Zephyr's phantom vanishes under an intense black flame, seemingly snuffed out the same way as before with Zephyr taking some of the fire. Everyone on the platform suddenly sees black wisps of fire dancing around them, just being near them is almost intoxicating. After the warp-shadow stays the Dragon's fangs from coming down on Linden, he feels a heavy hit from the tail that rid up underneath the dragon and came to the side for a whiplash against him and Tatyana, Tatyana able to parry part of the strike but still feels the sting of the tail's tip slash at her. Linden then feels the crushing weight of a claw come down on him and take him to the floor as the dragon hisses with dark fire leaking from it's mouth. "You will be my first kill, Dragon Hunter, so you will join your clan in the fires of Hel. Zandragal cannot help you here." It spits and sprays the entire platform with sharp fire that seems to sting more than burn, Linden currently under the weight of the dragon's left leg.

Map Addendum
I am still drafting a map, I will post one early this week. If you can respond without a map, please do so. If you have questions about the specific layout of the room ask in Hangouts.
"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. Through knowledge, they gain opinions. Through opinions, they wage wars. Through wars, knowledge dies and ignorance is reborn. Through ignorance, mortals remain the slaves of knowledge, and are masters of nothing."

Sera scowls as her attacks do minimal damage and she becomes horrified at seeing a team member being crushed to the ground, she'll turn and shout to the group. "It's a Night Stalker, stay in the light! Linden is under the claw!" She shouts and will then cast Globe of Daylight to hover right in front of the dragon's head hoping to give it pause. She'll then turn to the leg that has Linden grappled and slash at it.

Fox has an idea, it is probably crazy, and possibly suicidal, but when you are fighting a Dragon already, just about anything you do qualifies for those two statements. He is headed to the back end of the beast...he wants to grab the end of the tail. He is thinking if he can get thrown into the air he might come down somewhere useful (thanks to his float ability, he might do this without getting killed). He can not do much from here...but what might he be able to do from say the base of the neck?

Actions per Round 5, Attack +2, Parry/dodge +3, roll with blow +2, move per action 45 feet

As the Dragon closed the eye he’d been attacking and spread its wings to plunge them into darkness, Durak was glad he could see in the dark naturally. He was in his element; it did not matter that before he hadn’t wanted to come down here; now he was, it felt natural to him. He twirled his axe in his hands, stood on the ledge, ready for the next attack.

“Go for the other eye," Durak hollered to Zephyr, “try to blind it or close both eyes. Hopefully that will be distracting enough to get it to release….” Durak realised he had no idea who the man trapped under the Dragon’s claws was, except he was on their side, “Whatever his name is.” Maybe he would have chance to find out, but it wasn't exactly important at the moment; not with a Dragon to deal with.

Durak switched target, throwing his axe with precision at the left eye. We just threw a lot of spells and hearty blows at it, but it looks to have shrugged it off. This is definitely going to hurt. Thankfully, Durak’s cape was preventing him from feeling the fear that he should have. Right now, it is blocking any exit. So if we want to leave, we have to drive it away. OR we just kill it.

Trask grunts as the Acidic Fire washes over him. Now I'm mad!.. Come on you overgrown wizard lizard!" Trask yells as he attempts to cut the beast down with his Longsword. Trask isn't stupid though, and keeps an eye out for reprisals with his readied shield. Lord Utu, the reaper... Bless your servant in his quest to slay this dragon. I offer you it's soul as payment for deeds done and deeds yet conceived. Trask thinks in silent prayer to the lord of souls.

Frightened. Silhouette did not appear to be so on the outside nor did she really seem to be finding herself unduly influenced on the inside either. However the medley of beasts and demons was strangely becoming normalized in her paradigm. A burglar might see dogs, patrol guards, and the sharpened tips of a fence as their dangers. However for Silhouette the dog was a maggot demon, the guards were exploding cultists, and the sharpened fence...

The sharpened fence rises from the shadows in the semblance of a dragon.

Breathing with an athletic rhythm the changeling was not sure if she unwisely followed Thorgrim across to give him magical protection or if she was in the right place to offer the best in this fight. The only time her method and means,as the sneak and magical support went properly was prowling up on the necromancer himself and his allies. Now she was having to face a whole different reality of what she could be.

She was more like a changeling in skill than in form. With her Tutor she was always and forever Silhouette in form. She did not practice shape-changing. However as a mage or rogue she fluidly moved in and out of those roles, except now she was figuring her way into a new role.

Being a warrior's arm.

Skipping along as she moved from ally to ally she had to learn and accept, she was as capable of a warrior as those next to her. Facing all the beasts up to now she'd avoided this kind of fighting, as against her Tutor she felt lesser in this means, not realizing like the thief who thinks demons are above him that she herself underestimated her own prowess. She had never tried to know differently.

Sera:
"It's a Night Stalker, stay in the light! Linden is under the claw!"

Knowing that Sera was the Vampire hunter, the better between them at fighting the things that scurry in the dark, Silhouette takes her word and emphasizes it with Blinding Flash. Strangely at the back of her mind she felt like she had just done this to a dragon... Weird.

Twirling the necromancer's stave Silhouette's feet change places in several paces, forward, back, forward again as the bone white length falls into the crook of her arm, around the rear of her back and then ahead in a burst of movement driven by the pounding press of her feet as hips and torso, and arms explode to create a flurry of rapid blows across the dragon's shadowy form. With each of her attacks she yells at the dragon bolstering her own resolve to be standing this near to a creature somehow aligned closer to death than the very same Necromancer they'd killed who owned this weapon before as she chants,"Bad dragon. Bad Dragon! BAD. DRAGON!"

Linden scowls and grunts under the weight of the claw while glaring back to the dragon. "Zandragal stands with us, worm!" Linden snarls and will then struggle to break free. He will keep feeiling for that knot in his back to try and trigger whatever it is. My Lady, Zandragal, I am in need of your aid. Help me finish what was started a century ago and I will be yours to command. Linden thinks, offering a prayer to his Goddess in his mind, remembering what he felt inside about the knot.

Re: The Finale: The Dragon of Dread

Postby Tyral » Sun Feb 04, 2018 10:27 pm

OOC: Based on the prior successful Lore roll, I am assuming knowledge of the basic Natural Abilities in the Dragons & Gods book (Pg 39), if this is incorrect, please advise and I will edit.

Perception [63%]: 1d100:

PPE: 167/213
Bracelet PPE: 120/120
SDC: 43/43
HP: 42/42
Armor of Ithan: AR 18, SDC 180/180

Conditions: Nightvision: 60' [30' in unnatural Magic Darkness], Spell Strength of 15, Tongues [constant] & Truesight [Sees through Magical and Psionic illusions, Not Affected by Magical or Non-Magical Darkness, and can See Invisible], Bracelet [½ PPE cost for Spells], Fly as the Eagle (159.15 Min, +2 Dodge, 50 MPH), Invisibility: Simple (23.15 Min), Armor of Ithan (7.75 Min)

From partial cover hovering with most of his body beneath the lip of the chasm, Tyral is surprised by the Dragon's recognition for a moment. As the others call out 'plans' he wrinkles his nose a bit, ***It's a Dragon, not a Tusker. It speaks Eastern. Tolmet's tits people, don't tell him what you are going to do! I suppose we should come up with some standard Plans, so perhaps we need not instruct each of our enemies on what to be wary of. Of course that generally entails knowing what people can do, and when I tried that before I got to listen to a fair amount of dissension. That damn thing can Teleport and Metamorphosize at will ... it's just playing with us ... Brago, does the Dragon smell like Hedge? ... do you still smell him around here elsewhere? ... Seek out the man's Circles. They're probably around here somewhere, or a trail ...***

Having dispatched Brago to leave the battle, the Wizard quietly turns his spells on the Dragon to bend its will and perception without emerging to whack it with a stick/staff like a common swordsman. He will cast Befuddle (-3 PPE multiple times) on the creature until it 'sticks', then Immobilize (-13 P.P.E., 60', 16 Melees, PFRPG Pg 201, Special: Successful Save still takes 1d4:

1) Cast Befuddle (3 P.P.E., 100', 16.00 Min, [½ Attacks/Melee, -2 Strike/Parry/Dodge, -20% to Skills]) on the Dragon
2) Cast Befuddle (3 P.P.E., 100', 16.00 Min, [½ Attacks/Melee, -2 Strike/Parry/Dodge, -20% to Skills]) on the Dragon
3) Cast Befuddle (3 P.P.E., 100', 16.00 Min, [½ Attacks/Melee, -2 Strike/Parry/Dodge, -20% to Skills]) on the Dragon
4) Cast Befuddle (3 P.P.E., 100', 16.00 Min, [½ Attacks/Melee, -2 Strike/Parry/Dodge, -20% to Skills]) on the Dragon
5) Cast Immobilize, ideally centered on Dragon's head (-13 PPE, PFRPG Pg 201), if not, on some other part of the body which should still affect the entirety of the Dragon's body

Brago sniffs at the air and the trail he's been following trying to determine if this is where the Hedge summoner's trail leads, and will confirm or deny whether Hedge seems to (scent-wise) be the Dragon, then fly past the battle to the rear of the cave to explore (following a scent trail if the Dragon isn't Hedge) in search of Circles or other dangers.

If at any point Brago's enchanted armor is destroyed or dispelled, he will use his next action to renew the protection.

Zephyr watches in horror as another fragment of his kin fall to the Dragon's flame. I should count myself lucky that I was only singed, we are beating our full strength against a beast that is, from the looks of it, toying with us. We need to end this quickly if we are to survive... or escape. Zephyr remarks internally noting how little they seem to be doing to the hide of the dragon. I am limited on my effectiveness here, but no one likes lightning being flung at them. I may need to triage my Phantoms... He thinks then readies another volley, mentally prepared to summon a Phantom to use its magical energies before releasing it.

Re: The Finale: The Dragon of Dread

Begin Round 3
There is a lot going on in each of these rounds.

Working together, the team realizes the one real weakness or annoyance of the Night Stalker is, as the name implies, daylight. Sera is able to create a Globe of Daylight and keep it hovering near the head of the dragon as she works on getting Linden out of from under the grasp by beating on the claw that is holding him. Predat, Trask and Thorgrim all feel the fire lick their bodies but it feels more like prodding than actual pain as they continue to strike at the tough dragon's hide, successfully chipping away scales in the meanwhile. Durak goes heavy on the other, unguarded eye with his returning axe causing the dragon to close both of his eyes as the blinding flashes erupt from Silhouettes assault.

Tatyana feels the black flames lick her fur and seem to catch, she can feel her eyes grow heavy as her vision blurs. She suddenly feels an overwhelming urge to attack her companions and this feeling compels her to strike out at her nearest ally who also happens to be her fellow Undead Hunter trying to get Linden out, Sera. Just before Sera is attacked, she can see that Tatyana's eyes are completely blacked out. She suddenly remembers that Night Stalkers can influence those around them to attack their allies. She is able to successfully parry the first strike from the influenced Tatyana, but not the second strike that staggers her back away from the claw.

Tyral also sees Tatyana's actions and recognizes the Charm that the Nightstalker has placed on Tatyana and that it is not permanent. He casts Befuddle on the Dragon as Zephyr unleashes a new horde of lightning assaults. Several of the lightning strikes past the dragon as it resists the first couple befuddle attempts and goes for a kill shot on Linden, snarling, "None can take the pleasure of this kill from me." As Tyral casts again, and thinks on how this Dragon is toying with them, he swears he sees the dragon smile a toothy and menacing grin in his direction as he feels an itch in his head. The dragon looks down at Linden and moves to attack now that Sera is distracted with Tatyana and Tyral's final Befuddle attempt works with seemingly disorients the dragon just enough for it to be dazed through the Immobilize cast. Tyral can't tell if his immobilize was 100% successful, but he knows that for the moment, it can't move its head preventing a kill shot on Linden.

Undeterred, the Dragon lashes its tail around its feet, whipping Fox as he moves to grab the dragon's tail; the tail then also striking Predat with near full force, slamming him into Thorgrim. The combined weight of the dragon almost causes Linden to black out until the Dragon Hunter hears a familiar voice in his head. It is time, transform. And almost in response as if commanded, Linden feels his body tighten and explode, the weight of the dragon's claw feels like nothing now as he looks towards the dragon, now standing at near eye level. In a brief moment of surprise, Linden is able to barrel at the Night Stalker and take it past the piles of gold and gems into the cavern beyond, crashing into the walls of the cave and showing a break of warm, red light from below.

Linden Dragon
Image

From everyones standpoint, Linden went from nearly being crushed to transforming into a full red dragon of unknown origin and immediately attacking the Night Stalker in a daze of confusion. The red dragon that was formerly Linden is smaller than the Night Stalker but has the markings similar to that of a Great Horned Dragon with noticeable differences. Gauging the size based on the two dragons, and while the Nightstalker was battling the others, it is a good guess that this Nightstalker is about 50 feet in length from head to tail, and stands about 20 feet tall while on all fours. The red dragon that is Linden is probably 13 ft tall on all fours and 35 feet in length, at a guess. They cannot guess on the wingspan.

Everyone is now behind them, and is able to catch up into the next area. The Nightstalker is still unable to really move its head, but Tyral can tell it is fighting the effects of his Immobilize.

Brago the mischievous teenage wolf
Deciding it best to stay away from the very large dragon(s)? Brago instead leaves the fight to search for the scent of Icarus Hedge; finding the smell to hang in the air but is also overpowered by the overwhelming scent of the Night Stalker. As the familiar focuses, Brago can smell faint traces of Hedge's scent mixed with the dragon's more potent scent; leaving it safe to assume the Dragon is Hedge.

Brago also then sticks to the walls and flies through the air, searching for any other dangers and finding certain etchings on the walls, floors and ceilings of both the treasure room and the new cavern. The dormant circles seem to only wait to be activated but wait, charged and prepped. Brago also notices several interesting items in the treasure horde outside of the normal gold and gems, actually taking a moment to look at it more closely.

If any armor has regenerative features, those take effect after the damage, so roll the regeneration as it is applicable.

“Holy Thoth,” Durak exclaimed as Linden suddenly transformed into a Dragon, butting heads as it were with their foe, “Did anybody else know he could do that?”

Even so Durak mused, he’s smaller. I doubt he can handle the Dragon by himself, but where to hurt it? Both of the Dragon’s eyes are closed; between my axe and that light shining right by its head, that should hopefully keep it from trying to look. Blinded, that gives us an advantage.

None of the others were with him on the ledge; the dragon might be able to understand him, but it would be somewhat occupied. He shifted to a better position, sliding down the slope and running after it, ending up near Tyral and Zephyr. He was a lot faster than before; must be that spell Sil cast. If the two Dragons were going head to head, it would be best to avoid as much as possible the potential for striking his own side. Keep up the pressure and keep attacking it from all angles. Stay back here so I don’t get trampled underfoot. A lot of its mobility must come from those wings; if they are wounded, then that makes its slowly and less manoeuvrable and they are pretty large themselves. A lot easier to hit than the eyes. Of course, with all of this fire, best to use the cloak to protect myself, otherwise I will end up en Flambe. He activated the cloak to make him immune to fire.

He kept glancing at the Dragon’s head to see if it opened up one or both of its eyes, whilst he started launching Haarlbrax at the Dragon. With its enchantment, he didn’t have to worry about striking its scales and bouncing off them. Certainly the Dragon won’t appreciate it. He was grateful for Sil’s spell making him so much faster as well. Hopefully it would last long enough for this fight. He’d have to see about getting a ring or something that would allow him to cast it on himself. That and a set of glasses that enabled him to read any language.
Funny the things you think about when you are in mortal peril!

But where did that other creature go that they were fighting before the Dragon appeared? Has it run away or is it flanking them? Best to make sure there wasn’t another foe that could potentially cause havoc.

Well that could have gone better, the serrated ridges on the dragon's tail nearly Shred Fox's armor as he is thrown far back by the blow...since he was floating already he was not braced and was thrown farther...but also did not take any personal damage. Fortunately the tail is stopped by the invisible force of the Armor of Ithan spell and does know real harm other than the impact throwing the slight Kankoran back.

Fox attempts to follow the two dragons out, but it will take some time to reach them. He will see if he can get close before trying anything. his original idea may be hard to pull with two dragons fighting...what he wanted to go was get on the dragon's back, slide his sword between the scales along the spine and activate the lightning effect. If the lightning is activated from under the scales, it makes sense to him that it would not bounce off the scales like a lot of attacks from outside seem to do. Now he may have an even harder time getting there. Hmmm, perhaps he needs to talk to the others first.

The Wolfen Hunter shakes off the effects of the Night Stalkers charm. She stands for a moment staring down at Sera as the realization grows of what she has just been doing. "I am so sorry sister. I was not myself." In anger she looks away and glazes upon the sight of two dragons fighting farther into the cavern. "Where did the red one come from? How long was I possessed?"
Tatyana looks about the great cavern for a way out, "For some crazy reason I was willing to take on a single dragon with this team, but not two. No siree."

Linden feels his pupils dilate as his body transforms and in a fit of uncontrolled and confused rage, he lurches at the dragon that had him pinned to the ground into the next room. What is this? Is this the power of Zandragal? My Lady, I will not fail you. Linden thinks under the guise of his new draconian appearance. I must keep its attention on me while my allies work around the beast! Linden will focus his efforts on keeping the dragon's attention squarely on him so his allies can work freely.

After striking the Nightstalker several rapid blows Silhouette begins to leap forward following their team's own ferocious green "dragon" Predat's example, albeit a smaller one, but before she can a massive wyrm explodes from where the man was pinned by the Nightstalker, the cliff hanger Silhouette helped out before with Fleet Feet. Stepping back a pace Silhouette stares while gold, trophies, and the ground cracks itself as a red dragon joins the fray.

Black and red tails rip vicious snaps through the cavern atmosphere as the beasts fight for the same space, their rears now before her companions as the red beast pushes the Nightstalker further back. Skipping along suddenly intent of finding more of the Nightstalker to thump Silhouette slides, scrabbles, and crawls across the mound of yellow before coming to a tinkling halt.

Gold. It was everywhere. Everyone knew dragon's were greedy hence, "greedy as a dragon", but now standing upon the same gold she viewed before it was as if a mineral lake of fire made solid all around her.

Viewing the beasts in conflict Silhouette makes a snap decision as her instincts for self preservation and greed combined with a touch of intellect proposes a question to herself,"If I stop and search this pile (intending to use Sense Magic to point her way), will I find something useful in our..." Not one to kid oneself her thoughts correct,'To my benefit?" Wanting to survive this battle she did not think a creature such as a dragon would not have a few things it coveted in these golden sands and none of it be useful.

Casting Sense Magic the changeling mage follows its directions along with her enhanced perception toward any objects she finds. Sure, to her benefit would be a wide value in consideration, but like her spells, it was also to her benefit to "help" her allies fight better too if she were to find a sword or shield they could use.

"If I stop and search this pile (intending to use Sense Magic to point her way), will I find something useful in our..."[/i] Not one to kid oneself her thoughts correct,'To my benefit?"
Clairvoyant Prediction
ISP: (4)
Base Chance of Prediction: 62% +2% per level of experience(Currently 78%). Simple form of Clairvoyance used to guess the outcome of simple events or decisions. Gives the psychic a feeling of the most probable outcome for simple events, such as the outcome of a roll of the dice, coin flip, contest, or decision someone will make. One in ten or better odds, the psychic rolls on the base prediction roll to predict the correct outcome. If the odds are 1/1 to 1/100, the psychic is -5%, 1/101 to 1/1000, they are -15%, 1/1001 to 1/5000, -45%, and any event with odds worse than 1/5000 is -65%.

Action 2: Casting: Sense Magic (-4 PPE)

Action 3: Pulling out her Lucky-Unlucky dagger while searching through the pile of gold Silhouette casts,"
Magnetic Charm
Range: Touch, effect can extend up to 5 feet from weapon.
Duration: Instant or up to 3 minutes + 1 min per caster level.
Bonus: +5 disarm bonus to disarm metallic weapons.
Save: NA
PPE: 2 plus 1 per minute maintained.
The effect of this simple spell (known as a charm) is to magically magnetize a metallic object held by the spell caster. The magnetic force is strong enough to attract any metal object within 5ft of the weapon, but the attraction is most intense within a few inches of the weapons surface. Using the magnetized weapon to suddenly rip a weapon from an opponent's grasp is one good use of the charm, another is using the weapon to stick onto metal surfaces (excellent for using as a makeshift grapple or climbing tool). The force of the magnetic field is at least equal to a PS 30, + 1 per level of the caster.

Action 4: Consumed by Magnetic Charm per
Instant effect
Rifter 23: pg 31: Instant effects for Blade Magic,"Where the Duration States "Instant." the spell takes effect immediately(any loss of melee actions applicable to the caster takes place after the spell takes effect.

Action 5: Dragging the blade through and poking it into the gold pile Silhouette uses its magnetic effect to help act as a dowsing stick of a sort in conjunction with Sense Magic's general direction. Equivalent PS of magnetism: 38 (5ft radius; see spell description.) With Sense Magic when within 20ft per the spell, she will use the Magnetic blade to further divide the area.

Action 6: Similar act as Action 5; if anything is found she will pass along anything of obvious use to her fellow warriors, swords, shields, helmets, etc as their purpose easily surpasses knowing exactly what they do. Where rings, amulets, and such she will stow for examination later. Of which she might just share... After all she was a sucker for being appreciated, so long as her actions endear her allies to her even a little.

Action 7: Continue searching, or throwing an item to an appropriate ally. (Closest: Fox, Predat, and Trask in that order.)

Action 8: Continue searching, or throwing an item to an appropriate ally. (Closest: Fox, Predat, and Trask in that order.)

(Spells active):
Feet of the Cat
(5) (6) Range: Self; Duration: 2min per level; Bonus: Adds +10% to climb, gymnastic/acrobatic, +15% dancing, +4 balance, +2 dodge, +4 roll with impact; allows caster to leap as far vertically as lengthwise.

Resist Damage
ISP: (25) (Rifter 25)
Duration: 5 minutes/lvl; takes 1/2 (S.D.C or direct to Hit point) damage from any fall, impact, punch, bullet, or kinetic attack, after which the biofeedback field absorbs the first 5 (S.D.C. or H.P.) of damage from each attack. Carried items not protected.

Strength of the Mind
ISP (10)
(Rifter 25) 2 minutes/lvl; The psychic gains +10 to P.S., +5 to P.E. and +20 S.D.C. for the duration & Supernatural lifting strength and endurance.

Enhanced Perception
ISP: (10) (Rifter 25 pg 78)
Range: Self
Duration: Five minutes per level of experience. This incredible psionic power augments the psychic's physical senses, enhancing his perception. This enhanced state of awareness sharpens all natural senses by 50%, and further enables the psychic to "filter" all of this extra sensory input in order to concentrate on one or a few specific things. While using this ability, the psychic will notice every detail around him down to the slightest motion, sound, scent, and shadow. He will further be likely to notice changes and inconsistencies that might reveal traps, illusions, feints, or tricks (including sleight-of-hand, etc.).
Bonuses:+3 to Perception, +1 to strike, +2 to parry and dodge, and a +10% to any skill that relies on any of the basic senses (such as Intelligence, Tracking, or certain Physical skills like Juggling or Prowl).

Zephyr mutters under his breathe as he feels his own magical reserves beginning to drain dramatically. The look in Sera's eyes is obviously surprised as Tatyana lashes out at her as she begins to parry her ally. Remembering the Enchanter's Charm of the Night Stalker, Sera attempts to hold Tatyana at bay without harming her or letting herself be harmed. "Sister, SISTER! You are no dragon's pawn! That beast is your enemy, not I!" She says, parrying the attacks and throwing down a Carpet of Adhesion to stick her to the ground.

Action 1: Carpet of Adhesion on Tatyana.

IF Tatyana breaks free from the mind control, she'll place a hand on her fellow's shoulder. "You were betwitched for merely a few seconds thought much as happened. The red dragon is one you briefly met as Linden Durante -- he seems to be on our side for the moment and the Night Stalker is getting desperate, we can win. Come, we've a monster to kill!"

Sera will use what actions she has remaining to activate Size of the Behemoth and Strength of Utgard Loki and charge the black dragon.

Begin Round 4... Escape... Survive...
There is a lot going on in each of these rounds.

Tatyana, under the influence of the dragon, charges Sera and sees her first two strikes parried. The wolfen hunter could scream as she sees Sera off guard and her next attack going to hit true however acting quickly, Tyral is able to immobilize her before she hits. Sera's Carpet of Adhesion also further prevents her from moving. The combined magic help her break free of the influence and Sera is able to briefly explain the situation. Tatyana cannot see any way out yet.

Linden's ferocious attack on the Night Stalker seems to, for a moment, catch the true dragon off guard as Linden is able to successfully slash at its face a few times and his grappling attempt on the neck is a success as he first blows acidic then fire breathe down the dragon's face, the flames splashing down the back of the dragon and off away from his allies.

Linden is a dragon now, the dragons are fighting. Crazy people are fighting at the feet of two dragons, hopefully without getting squished. As far as anyone can tell, Linden is on their side as Tatyana sees the smaller (barely) red dragon slash the black dragon across the face.

If it weren't for the new dragon in its face, Predat would find himself facing the full wrath of the Night-stalker. As it stands, the Eandroth is chipping away at the scales of the dragon with a well focused flurry.

Trask and Thorgrim focus on the other side of the dragon and, combined, beat about as much of the scales off as Predat.

Predat and Trask are beginning to see significant wear and tear, Predat actually sees the flesh of the dragon beneath the scales.

Seeing the new development, Fox finds himself floating near where Tyral is flying, both well behind where Zephyr is. Fox and Tyral can see Zephyr summon and drain a phantom and continue firing. Tyral can tell that Zephyr's lightning onslaught is beginning to take a magical toll on the warlock. Tyral can also tell that this fight is not what one would imagine, the night-stalker is either not taking this seriously, much weaker than expected or has something planned.

Durak does strike at the currently folded wings well but his axe is not doing as much damage as he hoped it would. The dragon opens its un-scarred eye and Durak seizes the opportunity to strike at it with his ax, and almost in sync, one of Linden's claw strikes slash at the vulnerable spot. His protective features activate without incident.

When Brago sniffs near some of the circles, he finds a series of black scales mixed with red and gold lining on a large and potent circle, when the pup moves to remove what seems important he receives a jolt that shoots him back several dozen feet, destroying the magical armor granted to him -- Tyral can feel this jolt and it pangs him in the gut.

Zephyr fires flashy spells, sucks his phantom dry, and fires more. His second phantom also begins firing near the end and Zephyr does not see, hear or notice any disdain from his fragments.

Silhouette, deciding to forgo combat and search through the horde for anything that looks powerful and important immediately gets a ping from a black blade.
Image
She is able to grasp it without any issue, however both Tyral and Linden notice that the dragon seems to flash a smile amidst the combat (they can't connect why yet). Once her hand is on the hilt and she turns to toss it to one of the warriors, she feels a sharp pain spike through her arm. As she looks, the hilt seems to have grown tendrils that have connected to her skin, she is unable to drop it and she hears a voice in her head. Ahhhh, finally! The voice seems dark or cruel, and is not the voice of the dragon.

As Brago looks back at the circle that jolted him, the pup sees it have a new hue to it and Tyral can see that his spell effects on the Dragon appear diminished and the Night Stalker roars. In an instant, Predat, Trask and Thorgrim find themselves flown back and slammed into the walls of the room while Zephyr, Tyral, Fox and Brago each fight to stay up under the gusting wings, Silhouette sees piles of gold scatter and fall below. Linden was able to withstand the blowback from the now fully exposed wings of the Night Stalker, but not for the better.

The Night Stalker's more powerful jaws clamp down on Linden's neck and nearly choke the hunter as he is slammed to the ground by the tail. The rear legs of the Night Stalker grip his neck and the dragon looks to the rest of the group, "I'll see you buried in here." With that, it lurches up with the full force of its wings and slams into the ceiling, barreling through the rocks causing an immediate cave in that blocks the path behind them. The Night Stalker pulls Linden up with him, dragging him through the debris and up several hundred feet until the hunter feels water on his body from the rain that has returned in full force. At a quick glance, Linden can see they are now over the market area within Llorn, still in the clutches of the dragon.

The rest of the group can only watch as Linden gets slammed down and then dragged through the rocky ceiling. At a quick glance, the only way out is up through the hole the dragon is making before the entire cavern caves in.

Butcher's Bill
Spells cast as intended unless stated otherwise.
Predat, Trask -- 34 S.D.C. from armor, blown back. Not prone.
Silhouette -6 H.P., the sword is connected to you.
Linden, -94 S.D.C.

ALL must roll Dodge Saves to escape debris, Only way out is up.

Zephyr watches in awe and horror as the dragon lurches up and the cave system begins to collapse. "Well, that just happened! Time to Fly!" He shouts amidst the falling debris and will use his fly spell to reach each of his grounded allies and grant them Fly as an Eagle. He will first summon a Phantom and have it fly to Silhouette, Durak, Tatyana and Sera and grant them Fly as an Eagle (30PPE). Tatyana, Durak, Silhouette and Sera merely see a wisp fly to them and a ghastly hand touches them, then their feet lift off the ground as it moves on.

He will fly sequentially to Predat, Trask, Thorgrim to grant them Fly as an Eagle as well, saying quickly, "We gotta move! Fly!" and then dart upwards dodging debris as he needs too.

Action 1: Summon Phantom (30PPE, 40 Left)
Action 2-4: Fly to Predat, Trask and Thorgrim, granting Fly as an Eagle. (30PPE, 10 Left)
Action 5-10: Fly Away. (See Dodge Rolls)

Phantom Action 1: Fly to Silhouette, Tatyana, Sera and Durak.
Action 2-3: Cast Fly as an Eagle to them (Twice, 30PPE, 70 left). Fly Away.

Audible draconic roars can bear heard from Linden as he is dragged through the rocks to the surface where the former storm has kicked back off in full force. Bastard! Linden sneers and begins a wrestling contest to get free from the Night Stalker. Gotta worry about civis now, fantastic. What is that, the market?! I hope Aureus is out of this hurricane and safe. Linden thinks as he notices where they are, his gryphon, and will keep fight to break free. If he is able to break free, he will attempt to draw the other dragon outside of the city before lives are lost and barring that, he will try to keep its attention to allow people time to escape.

If he escapes, he will attempt to strike the dragon a couple times, taunting him before leading him out of the city. "Weak little worm, is the Dragon Hunter pissing you off? Worried cause you can't squash me anymore?" He taunts Dragonese through roars and snarls.

He is trying to calm himself and dodge falling debris, when he is hit by Z with a flying spell. If Z wasn't such a bad ass himself, he would be a little scared at the grin Predat just gave him. It is all teeth and completely ruthless grin. He yells sincerely, "Thanks, lets go get our Gryphon Rider back." Pre flies straight out the hole and searches the horizon for the dragon. Where are you Dragon? As soon as he (or if he) catches sight of the dragon he flies off in pursuit. He mutters "Panath this was fun, but now ariel combat with a dragon!" Pre is smiling! If Pre catches the dragon, he will try to maneuver to remain behind it at all times and he will try to concentrate on one wing to knock it out of the sky.

As with any battle, just when you think you know what is going on, the situation completely changes.
“You must be joking!” Durak exclaimed loudly as the cavern started to collapse as the two Dragons crashed through the roof of the cavern into the streets above. As rocks and other debris started raining down on them, Durak started looking around for another way out.

“I don’t know about the rest of you, but my ability to fly…”
he did not get chance to complete his sentence as Zephyr’s spell began to take effect and he began to rise up into the air.

“Dwarves are meant to be on the ground, not flying through the air like a beast,” he complained as he flew upwards through the air, trying to avoid being struck by falling debris. If anybody was in the market place at the time, Durak keeps an eye out for them and moves to intercept their fall in order to save them.

Now we have to fight an angry Dragon in the air over a major city. We need to draw him out away from the populace and hopefully to where the city’s defences can lend a hand.
Getting as close as possible to Tyral and the others, he shouted over the rain and wind, hoping that the Dragon wouldn’t be paying too much attention considering the loud flapping of its wings and fight with Linden.

“We shouldn’t try to do this all ourselves. We are in a heavily fortified city with experienced warriors manning heavy siege weapons. They see two Dragons fighting; they are going to open fire on both of them. We need to liaise with them to concentrate their fire on the larger Dragon and not our side!”

Presuming that he still is

Sera watches her allies slam into the wall as the Night Stalker pins Linden and sneers, moving to charge it as speaks.

Night Stalker wrote:"I'll see you buried in here."

She freezes as the dragon lurches up and the cave in begins. "Look Out! We've gotta get out!" She yells over the falling debris as the ghastly hand grants her flight. She glances to the phantom and then to Zephyr who is granting the others flight and nods in approval as she lifts off.

She will focus her efforts on dodging the debris and following the dragons. When they get to the top and she sees that they are in the market, a look of horror crosses her face as Durak speaks.

Durak wrote:“We shouldn’t try to do this all ourselves. We are in a heavily fortified city with experienced warriors manning heavy siege weapons. She looks to the dwarf shaking her head, "Llorns response is going to be swift! And they are not going to hesitate to unless all the might they have against such a threat! With luck, they will focus the larger threat first. It is battle tactics to combine firepower and kill the larger threat while the larger threat kills the minor threat, Linden. I'm going to see if I can find a Guard Captain to focus fire!" She states and will then, using the flight, dart up and search for the nearest guard outpost within the city and burst to it at maximum speed (50mph).

If she is able to find a captain or commander, she will immediately relay the information. "The Black Dragon seeks to destroy Llorn, It must be focused. The red dragon is fighting for Llorn's protection and is outmatched, you must have a way to focus Llorn's fire!?" She questions/commands/states.

Fox barely managed to grasp something reasonably solid to keep from being thrown back by the wind of the dragon's take-off...otherwise his being floating in mid air would have caused him to fly a considerable distance backwards (again). He decides that there are certain disadvantages to floating.

Fortunately, that puts him close enough to realize that Zephyr has not figured out he is not really flying, "Do not forget me, I can not fly, only float."

Fox is certain that he can not float out of here...if Zephyr somehow fails to cast Fly as Eagle on him, Fox will have to find somewhere to hide until things stop collapsing. On the good side, that might give him a chance to see if there is anything interesting in the treasure.

No...once reminded Zephyr corrects his oversight, and Fox's caution about the collapsing cavern overcomes his curiosity. He quickly flies out of the cavern and into the marketplace, then looks around for the cause of this mess. Now that he can fly, he sees no reason not to try to put his plan into effect. Fly up to a spot on the back of the dragon, get his sword between the scales, blast with lightning...

Tatyana takes in the current situation with bewilderment, apprehension, anger and a growing disgust. As the spells case upon her fade away, her disgust diminishes, only to make more room for anger. "We have to kill that thing before it does any real damage or kills us." and then the roof caves in, almost literally.

Following the dragons and the others who have already figured out the way out. "I wonder what we are under?" Dodging falling objects, she will help any of her team she sees in trouble and keeps a eye out for anyone from the surface who falls thought the new opening. Once out into the sky she will continue to help anyone near the hole get to safety.

Silhouette, deciding to forgo combat and search through the horde for anything that looks powerful and important immediately gets a ping from a black blade.
https://i.imgur.com/TnUBRTF.png
She is able to grasp it without any issue, however both Tyral and Linden notice that the dragon seems to flash a smile amidst the combat (they can't connect why yet). Once her hand is on the hilt and she turns to toss it to one of the warriors, she feels a sharp pain spike through her arm. As she looks, the hilt seems to have grown tendrils that have connected to her skin, she is unable to drop it and she hears a voice in her head. Ahhhh, finally! The voice seems dark or cruel, and is not the voice of the dragon.

WAAAHHOOO! Yes, It works!" Silhouette could not help calling out amid the battle's clamor in her excitement. The tug of something at the end of her Lucky-Unlucky dagger was akin to the fisherman throwing his lure into the waters and feeling a tug before pulling the line back with a giant of a catch thrashing on the hook. With unbridled excitement she could hardly believe the weight of the weapon as she tucks her stave under her arm and then with a free hand pulls the sword from the gold beneath and away from the magnetically charmed dagger.

Sharp unbidden pain erupts through her arm as she peers down at the weapon's black tendrils boring into her. Like the over eager fisherman pulling their catch in before looking, she too had wrapped her hand around the proverbial Lionfish's poisoned barbs in that moment. Trying to let the weapon go the tendrils held it fast as she alarmedly shakes her hand,"Oooo!" It felt as if the thing were touching bone as pain was radiating up her arm and shoulder to cause her neck muscles to stand out as she utters in disbelief,"It woooorked? Ahhh!"

Unbidden the words,"Ahhhh, finally!" enter Silhouette's mind as her Unlucky-Lucky dagger clatters to the wayside forgotten in her panic as she immediately drags her hand across the pile of gold like one does in desperation when finding a spider clinging to your finger when reaching for the lamp at night.

Time felt as if it were slowing to a syrupy pace as she realizes the weapon is glowing, not from her spell telling her it was magical, but instead from a radiant power all its own. The draconic conflict now punching a hole in the ceiling sent rocks falling, though her feet lift from under her as Zephyr's magic sent her drifting just a span later. Even with that the changeling was in awe and horror at her realization of so few things that would be visibly magical. "Gods, relics, artifacts..."

The weapon had her rapt attention as she wonders in pain at the words,"Argh, finally?" Distress filling her she again questions,"Finally, what?" Two rocks slamming together with a sound much like cranial bone crunching gives focus to her external problems as she sharply looks away from the length of eldritch steel and begins guiding herself upward from under the falling stones.

Closing her hand around the blade again to ceases its painful wobbling her senses catch up as she begins to realize that the voice was not the dragon's but perhaps the blade,"What is this?" She knew. Certainly she knew of the tools created in the Time of a Thousand Magics, but she'd never seen one and could not help asking the obvious.

Like the fisherman who first caught a Lionfish, of which it caused pain, someone soon followed that trimmed the poisoned spikes to find it not only dangerous but delectable to eat. Not that she knew how to fish nor was remotely capable as a cook if brewing tea didn't count, anyway. However she was still the foolish fisherman with poisoned barbs in her hand asking foolish questions such as,"Why?"

As she found herself to safety above the rocky rain, "Why?" was soon followed by many other questions she could not answer,"Why did it do this? How can I get loose? Will I die?" A few moments changes her internal dialogue as she realizes it really did seem to have spoken to her,"What are you?" Did it do this because that is what it does or did it want to? Can I convince it to let me go?"

Silhouette had so many questions and only one answer she was certain of...

"Ouch!"

When Zephyr casts his spell on Trask, Trask ceases his grumbling and takes off after the beast. Once Trask finds the creature he'll set down right next to it so that he may strike at the Dragon. [b]"I'm going to kill you Lizard!"

Begin Round 5... Rally... Fight... WIN!
Another round bites the dust.

[Linden versus the Dragon]
Image

Linden is able to break free immediately upon reaching the sky above Llorn, the storm is in full force as Zephyr's effects have worn off. Breaking free, he slashes the Night Crawler across the face and can see a real gash across its left eye. The taunting effort is met with dead eyes as Linden tries to fly away and finds himself slugging through the air and dropping in altitude, its almost like his body suddenly weights thousands of pounds more. When he looks back at the dragon, he sees, in the briefest of seconds, a black tail whiplash him across the back and send him rocketing down towards Llorn. He hits with a fury and his large draconic body destroys almost a quarter of the marketplace on impact. The fire rains afterwards, destroying another quarter and searing the scales of Linden.

[Escaping the debris]
Before leaving, Tyral darts towards the circle that zapped Brago in an effort to cleanse it of its effect, only his spell is met with nothing, the hue continues. When he uses telekinesis to remove a part of the circle, he hears a load pop and crack as, what looks like electricity, surges around the circle and the hue fades. He is able to retrieve some of the red and gold lining (not much) before he is forced to retreat by the debris. Brago is able to retrieve 3 undamaged scales, chipped off by a sword or axe. When Tyral moves towards the exit, he sees two other circles of different designs begin to resonate, however he has to retreat before he can get a good look at them.

Silhouette, more than fearful of the black blade, receives silence from her inquiries however the she feels her hand holding the sword lurch her up towards the exit. She is able to guess (with a certain degree of certainty) that this weapon is a rune weapon of old, what its purpose is remains a mystery.

Zephyr is able to grant fly to everyone using either the Phantom or his own spell and everyone is able to dodge though Tyral, Sera, Trask and Durak each get hit by an lucky piece of debris, or an unlucky dodge. Everyone is able to get to the top in due time but the Dragons are far to high after flying through the improvised tunnel and dodging debris for them to reach them in any quick fashion. Thinking quickly on Llorn's response, Durak raises his concerns and Sera heads to the nearest guard location (Durak can choose to go also). Sera literally barges into the door to find over a dozen soldiers, mages or the like seemingly preparing for battle, she is able to spot the guard leader.

Sera wrote: "The Black Dragon seeks to destroy Llorn, It must be focused. The red dragon is fighting for Llorn's protection and is outmatched, you must have a way to focus Llorn's fire!?"

Given a quizzical glance at first, the Guard leader nods. "Our plan was to focus the larger dragon first while letting it kill the red one. We will make an effort to keep it alive, however we make no promises if it turns against us." The captain states and his unit rushes off. As they move to leave, Sera (and Durak?) look back towards the marketplace to see Linden come crashing down with enough of an impact to shake the very foundation of Llorn. Immediately following Linden is a hail of dark flames the eradicate everything around Linden in an instant.

Everyone else, still at the market, having just arrived up top are able to dodge the impact crater of Linden and most of the flames. Zephyr is able to see that there are innocent bystanders who are in danger, and some lives have already been lost in the wake of the destruction from the impact and the flames. When everyone looks up at the sky where the Black Dragon is, everyone feels their gut drop as the dragon's wings are at full extent, its body is fully realized and the sky is growing in darkness. Glaring red eyes can barely be seen from the dragon's silhouette in the sky. No one was able to fly up to try to strike the dragon.

Linden is currently on the ground. Sera is able to return to the group in the market and relay that Llorn is organizing.

Butcher's Bill
Linden - -101 S.D.C., prone.
Tyral, Trask, Durak and Sera -- -10 S.D.C. from armor (or personal depending) form debris.

Everyone must save vs HF18 (Dragon effect).

As Durak flew up towards the gap, he reflected that twice in less than a day, he was flying through the air; admittedly not as gracefully as a bird as a chunk of debris slammed into his shoulder that he was unable to dodge out of the way in time. Thank Thoth for Sil’s magic spell for its protection as it shimmered when the debris struck him. Happened so quickly, he had no idea what it even was as it bounced away into the dark.

As he came out of the hole up into the marketplace, with the rain lashing down on them, Durak’s visibility was reduced and seeing the Dragon’s fighting up in the sky was probably close to his limit.

“Zephyr, the rain is going to hinder attacks from the city guard on the Dragon. We need to alleviate the rain again, make it easier to attack it.” he shouted at the warlock before pointing out to everyone else the likely response of the City defense.

Sera wrote:She looks to the dwarf shaking her head, "Llorns response is going to be swift!

As Sera agreed with Durak regarding getting the city guard’s help, he accompanied her to the nearest barracks, showing her the way as he’d served in some of them along the years in the Red Brigade. He wasn’t sure if his brother’s unit was currently in the city or not. They hadn’t exactly seen eye to eye with regard his leaving the Red Brigade, but right now, he’d love them to be there; a detachment of the finest Dwarven crossbowman.

The red dragon is fighting for Llorn's protection and is outmatched, you must have a way to focus Llorn's fire!?" She questions/commands/states.

He nodded to Sera“Sera, if you are going back in, see if you can get Sil to use her abilities to speak to me. That way, I can coordinate with the City defense and your efforts. Maximise how much we can hurt the damn thing.”

Heading off after the guards, he filled the captain in
“I'm ex-red brigade. We ran into this thing underground. We’ve been chipping away at the damn thing for a minute or so. It hates the light, so if your mages can get some of those sunlight globes near it, it will make it more vulnerable, make it easier to hit. It was also a lot more vulnerable on the ground. We need to coordinate fire on its wings, bring it down somewhere we can bring ground troops to bear on it. Right now, we have wounded it a bit, but the only way to bring it down is to coordinate our attacks on it.” he tells the guard captain
