Tyral - Downtime. First-6-Weeks wrote:Tyral plans to utilize his upper echelon membership within the Brotherhood to secure several days worth of time within the Time Hole constructed for high level study at the Brotherhood of Magic for 3 Days worth of study. [1 Hr Outside = 6 Hours Inside = 144 Hrs/day]

By the close of the 1st (Outside) day in Llorn, the Wizard has nearly completed study of the recovered Grimoire: Sustain (L5, 12 PPE, 1 Day/L, (2hrs Sleep, No Food or Drink needed), BOM Pg 109). [100 hrs study, 30 hrs sleep, 10 hrs Study "Book of Secrets" (including imprinting with his own Blood-print in private)]

By Day-2 the Elf is leaving Brago outside (as the Wolf is going a bit stir-crazy back in the Time Hole. Over Days 2-3, Tyral next studies: 1) Grimoire: Slam (L2, 5 PPE, 15ft/L, 1d6*10 SDC, 17 to Dodge (RWP, or lose Initiative & 2 Actions), MA Pg 10) [40 hrs]; 2) Grimoire: Power Bolt (L6, 20 PPE, 1600ft +100ft/L, 5d6+2/L, BOM Pg 113) [120 hours]; and 3) Grimoire: Energize Spell (L6, 12 PPE + PPE for other spell (L6 or less), 10ft, BOM Pg 111) [120 hrs]

Emerging from seclusion after several days Tyral and Brago are out and about town several hours each day (as often as not visiting with ladies who encourage his charms [Charm/Impress [80%]) but otherwise studying the old-fashioned way (Sustain Augmented, he handles ~ 16-18 hrs per day with 4-5 hrs play-time) at:

Grimoire: Firestorm (Explosive Fireball) (L8, 30 PPE, 90ft+10ft/L, 1d6/L (20ft radius), (HUGM 188)
Grimoire: Magic Warrior (L10, 60 PPE, 100ft, 2 Melees/L, BOM Pg 135)
Grimoire: D-Phase (L7, 20 PPE, 1Melee/L (-75% SPD), BOM Pg 244)
Grimoire: Create Wood L3, 10 PPE (soft wood logs)/ 20 PPE (hard wood planks), 10 ft, 100lbs, BOM Pg 96)
Grimoire: Stealthwalk L4, 10 PPE, 5 Min/L (+20% Prowl, only while moving >50% SPD), MA Pg 13)

Since beginning his studies of the spellcraft from Llorn's draconic Under-Lord, Tyral has watched his repertoire grow in leaps and bounds with new and miraculous magics. Although Faustionne cannot 'learn' new Spells per se, Tyral and his inanimate comrade spend lengthy discussions on the intricacies and nuances of the Dragon's spellbooks and in short order, the inseparable two are study partners.
OOC Comments
Yes, I plan on eventually having Tyral play chess against the Staff

As the weeks drag out, Tyral opts to assist the rebuilding process in several small but visible ways in order to maintain a visible effect and win the hearts and minds of the populace. First, each day the Wizard walks the Marketplace with Brago by his side and each day, he will summon up 1000lbs of building lumber [Create Wood [20 PPE (hard wood planks) 100lbs, BOM Pg 96]] for a building site that looks to need it. Walking the Marketplace thereafter, he still can syphon PPE from the mundanes by drips and drabs to replenish that which he expends. Secondly, he reaches out to Grandmaster Melinka, then to a few of the Guard Captains from when he previously was Summoning Grain to feed the City and approach them quietly, "Rain is forever on the Farmers' minds. Really I don't know many of them, but Llorn's bellies rely on their toils. If you know of farmers who are getting their seed into the ground and need rain, I can assist. I cannot call up rain on a whim, but can manage to water some fields for a couple hours to kickstart growth."
OOC Comments
This would be Faustionne's Summon & Control Rain (200) - BOM pg. 146, useable every 2 Days, and although technically he CAN summon up 8 hours of deluge rain, Tyral doesn't always disclose his full capabilities and most farmers probably would not want too much.

The Wizard circulates through the arms of dozen or so local ladies, both Elven and human (though he's careful to avoid anyone married or betrothed), attends the theatre, and the occasional horse race between his studies which move on to:

Grimoire: Magelock (L6, 15 PPE, 24hrs/L, MA Pg 15) Grimoire: Time Warp: Slow Motion (L9, 45 PPE (1st Min) +10 PPE/L, 30ft Radius/L, BOM Pg 247)
Grimoire: Retro-Viewing (L8, 30 PPE, 1 Hr/L (range) + 1 Min/L (view period), BOM Pg 245)
Grimoire: Remote Viewing (L9, 45 PPE, 10 Miles/L, 1 Min/L, BOM Pg 246)
Grimoire: Farseeing (L1, 3 PPE, 1 Min/L, Binocular vision 2 Miles, MA Pg 9)
Grimoire: Block or Seal Against Teleportation & Mystic Portal (L10, 3 Min/Lvl, DB13 - Fleets of the 3 Galaxies, Pg 121)

OOC Comments
Assuming 10 Hrs/day as 1 day of study, Tyral can accomplish the above studies in 42.5 Days, while allowing Tyral to accomplish both 2-3 hours sleep (more than needed under Sustain Spell), and 4-5 hours of daily other stuff as referenced above (helping others and himself)

Tyral's Community Service:
Tyral does his best to assist the rebuild, along with the rest of the Brotherhood of Magic as well as the members of the fledgling warlock's guild. Because of the mystic aid the actual functional rebuild goes quickly. Soon the roads are open and the market once again bustling with commerce. After the initial disaster is handled most of the activity is either construction of new structures or preparations for the Grand Festival, in which 'volunteered' magic help is neither expected nor particularly wanted (don't take their jawbs!).

Instead he joins the roster of weather-talented mages that donate their time and talents to the small but vital agricultural industry of Llorn. He finds himself a cog in a complex weather-distribution scheme designed by farmers and druids to maximize their harvest potential. Several days a week Tyral is sent travelling to one district or another to perform his rain magic.

Beside the intended studies which he successfully completes, Tyral is able to socialize and meet some interesting single ladies who are also on the scene.

After weeks of hard studying spellcraft, Tyral begins splitting his off-time between the achingly beautiful Mistress Areda Woodwellen (mostly Champion's Arena visits, strolls in The Garden, picnics in the countryside) and intriguing Duchess Bafri Annan (Stone Garden, Garden Cafe, and Fit for a King). He also spends time with the exotic Lady Batukett sampling coffee at the Lycee Salon, taking in shows at the Pan-Palladium Playhouse, and skating long the edge of the dark side of town playing Pool and Darts at the Snowball's Chance in Hell Casino.

The Wizard also spends much more of his time reading and studying mundane texts of:

Tome: Cryptography
Tome: Lore: Demons & Monsters
Tome: Advanced Lore: Demons & Monsters*
Tome: Lore: Magic
Tome: Advanced Lore: Magic*
[-2 EP for Insanity Checks]

Brago likes Arenda best of the 3 ladies whom Tyral seems to be spending more time with.

[*] Tyral takes the time to go ahead and produce 4 Dimensional Bags per his arrangement with Janyce Nunburn of the Morning Blade. Ideally he would like to trade these to learn these Spells: 1) Teleport [GMG Pg 193, PPE 120, 30 Miles/Lvl, Not quite Teleport: Superior, capacity = Self + (50+5lbs/lvl)], 2) Negate Magic [PFRPG Pg 205, PPE 30, 60ft Range], and 3) Fly [PFRPG Pg 197, Lvl 5, 15 PPE, 6 Min/lvl]
Fly Spell
(honestly less efficient & useful than Fly as the the Eagle which he already has, but much more efficient on a date ... to help maintain proximity to one's companion)
.

Tyral successfully reads the tomes as he intended.

Tyral trades D- bags for the spells (tuition included) on his list as intended.

Tyral goes to many places with various women, however the engagements lack any real depth and the potential for a relationship quickly evaporates.

Around Tyral, the city bustles with excitement and intrigue, all of it passing him by as he keeps his nose in a book for most of his spare time.

Reading through the dragon's personal journal Tyral is able to discern nothing but the author's madness. The book is horrifying and mind-bending but ultimately, apparently, meaningless.
