Hush Showgirls: (Factual description based on observation)
The Sign on the outside of the door says the hours are 12:00 noon to 4:00 AM 6 days a week, closed Sunday.

The the bearded African American man front takes your coats and giver you a wrist band with a number on it so you can claim the coat later. There is a sign beside the coat check that says, ironically, "Please tip your coat check girl." The cover charge you are told, is $10 before 2:30 AM...after that it is $15 but they no longer serve alcohol and the women dance nude.

The place has high ceilings, the metal rafters about 14 feet up and the actual roof a good two feet higher.

As you walk in the stage is to your left (south), the bar is to your right (North). Both the stage and the bar are 22 feet long.

Directly in front of you, past the bar is a door marked private that leads back to the changing area for dancers.

West of the stage is the DJ area. North of the Bar is 2 doors and an alcove. The West door is marked Private, the North door has a curtain across it and leads to a set of 5 small private dance booths. The Alcove probably leads to where they do the cooking if you order food.

South of the stage are 20 small 2-person tables, where dancers might come and sit ald talk with a guest privately.

East of these tables is the rest rooms, between the tables and the changing area is an emergency exit.

South of the Tables is a raised area, at the west end of the raised area is a larger table with a number of seating places. This is intended for groups...such as Bachelor Parties. East of that is a an area with three larger dance couches, intended for if you hire two dancers at once.

Between the larger dance couches and the rest room is an opening that leads to a darkened hallway with an emergency exit at either end.

The stairs onto the stage are on the west end. There is a seating area on each side of the stage for those who are tipping only. There are 2 brass poles each 6 feet from the end of the stage (and thus ten feet apart), each ten feet high or so as they connect to the metal rafters overhead.

The standard cost for a dance is $20, with $30 double dances announced at intervals. There is also a $60 stage dance for special occasions where the girls all dance for the guest of honor.

Drinks are $7 if they are non alcoholic...but they sell beer at $4:00 a bottle (all drinks are $2 on Tuesdays according to the sign...and some drinks mentioned behind the bar like the "fireball" are listed at $3.00).

House rules say no groping the girls when they are "topless", though even when topless (while alcohol is being served) their nipples are covered. This implies touching is allowed when they are NOT topless.
(End of factual description)

Speculation:
VIP Room: I did not ask about it, but there used to be a VIP room, it would presumably be behind the door marked private at the west of the northern doors. This room cost (when I did try it before, over ten years ago) $100 to take a girl there for an entire hour, it had a small stage and a stripper pole and a larger couch similar to the ones for double girl dances. The Management would have someone check on the girl every two dances to make sure she was following the rules, though the room was where the rumored illegal activities were supposed to take place. The $100 was just for the room, you tipped the girl for dances (and supposedly more for extras).

Nightbane additions:
There is a colorful pattern painted on the stage, around each of the stripper poles is a series of triangles in various colors. A successful Lore: Magic roll will inform the character that this is a Hex Sign, a variation of a Magic Circle of Protection.

The darkened corridor to the north hides a thick, concealed, trap door covering an entrance to an underground area where the Vampires who work here can sleep (so yes, there are coffins down there). This door weighs over 500 pounds and is not going to be easily lifted by most people without supernatural strength.

While there are a number of mirrors (mostly high on the walls), they are not backed by silver (only a Silver mirror will not reflect a vampire). Only the mirror in the VIP room actually connects to the Nightlands (not all mirrors do).

Jack is inside looking around, he can sense a Nightbane nearby, but they are not currently in sight. There are several places one could be and be out of sight from the bar. He is asked by the woman behind the bar, "Did you want a bottle or on tap? Bottles are $4.00, we have a variety of bottled beers. We only carry Anheuser Busch beer products on tap, mugs are $5 but are larger than the bottles." He notes a list of house special drinks posted behind the bartender.

David entered with his co-workers, he finds the place much better ventilated than one would assume, probably due to the high ceiling. He notes over a dozen girls about the place. There are two on stage, four at the bar, and the rest are seated with customers at the small tables to the south. Three of the ones he sees are african american, two of the girls are rather chunky, though none are seriously overweight. They are escorted to the table in the Northwest Corner , which is reserved for party groups like theirs. The waitress suggests the Stage Dance for the guest of honor.

(Note: as noted the web information was wrong and cover is only $10 when you arrive. I may have part of the law wrong, it may only require 5 feet back from the strippers when naked, the girl I talked to said that was the reason for the placement of the poles. I never really studied the laws. I did not see any waitresses, but then I sat at the bar, not a table. There was only one person at a table while I was there, it was a lot less busy in reality than in game.)

Alex follows the party group in, he takes one of the few empty small tables and immediately spots a male Nightbane at the bar (and Jack will notice Alex when he came in). The waitress comes over and takes his order. She asks if he wants any sides with that, and what he would like on his burger. Alex does not see any of the "classic" signs of Vampires, no pale skin or glowing eyes or fangs, but he has been around Vampires enough to know that they are only pale if they have not fed in a day or two, that their eyes only glow if they are trying to control minds, and that the fangs only appear if they are feeding. It is going to take more work to find them.

Franklin enters last, he immediately spots the other two nightbane who are in sight and vice versa. None of the three will take note of David or vice versa. Franklin finds is he not allowed to carry his own drinks into the building and has to leave the bottle of holy water at the coat check.

Technical note: Sunset is at 6:37 PM, which should be close to the time Franklin enters the building.

Perception 1d100 1d100 = 46/28%
JIC 1d100 1d100 = 1 - 1d20 1d20 = 9

While he is examining the place Lore: Magic roll to see if he notices the Hex Sign:
Lore: Magic 1d100 1d100 = 59/47%

Alex smiles at the waitress when she asks if he wants any sides. "Sure honey, I'll take a side of fries. Some extra tomatoes to if I can please." He tips her a $5 bill when she brings him his drink, and again when she brings him the food.

When he notices Jack at the bar, he smiles to himself and wonders at the coincidence. If jack looks over his way, Alex will smile at him and nod politely at him. Interesting, always meet others of my kind in such interesting places. I wonder if he is here for business or pleasure? HA, maybe both like me. Unless Jack does anything to indicate he wants to talk, Alex just keeps an occasional eye on him, sadly he isn't here to meet fellow Nightbane, he has a job to do and he figures that saying he needs an extra night because he met someone might not go over so well.

When he notices none of the girls displaying any of the classic vampire signs, he isn't surprised, it is still daytime and if they do run this club, it would be safer if they didn't alert the vampire hunters. Wondering how much trouble the bachelor party is going to cause him in finding a working vampire, he racks his brain for a good way to find a stripper who also happens to be a vampire. Vampire Lore 1d100 1d100 = 8/47%

When he notices Franklin walk in Okay, one I can chalk up to coincidence. Two? Damn, looks like something is going down tonight, or this place is way more connected than it appears. What did these paranoid bastards toss me into. He will give a smile and nod to Franklin when he see's him, although his paranoia has cranked up a bit.

Now to wait until night and see how interesting things get.

*Edit*
Alex decides to see if a $20 can get some information from the waitress. He asks about any girls that work only the night shift, after dark, and if any of them are pale skinned. If she asks why, Alex will explain it as liking night owls and goth girls. If the waitress seems to not be bothered by those questions and answers them, he will also ask if she knows whether or not any of those girls avoid drinking. He makes a note of any stage names the waitress gives him, and keeps an ear out for them. If the waitress is working into the night shift, he'll give her an extra $20 if she can direct any girls she mentioned his way when they come on shift.

Dave is a touch bemused as he surveys the place, the group heading to their reserved tables in the corner. The location is a fortuitous one; once things get going and there are a lot of bodies in play, he can probably do a quick aura scan of everyone in line of sight, with Susan’s help. This whole ‘stage dance’ that the waitress suggests is pretty much a guarantee to happen, and that sounds like a target rich environment to him.

”Oh yeah, I’ll chip in for a stage dance,” he replies when the suggestion is made. ”Gotta make sure that Marc knows what he’s going to be missing from now on!” He laughs, and orders a bottle of beer from the waitress, paying with a twenty; he’ll use a five from his change as his contribution, that should be about the right amount to be his share.

Plus, he isn’t a huge fan of beer in general, and this American crap is pretty watery. It'll keep him from drinking too much, not that that tends to be a problem for him in the first place.

The ladies’ outfits seem...almost sad, really. The ones that aren’t topless gave the impression of being at a Hooters, and the ones that are really…aren’t. The pasties are just a tad ridiculous, especially considering that if one has a burning desire to see nipples it isn’t anything resembling difficult to find them. Does it make a difference if they are in person?

Still, it's nice to see that there are at least a couple of curvier girls in the club’s stable. He’d been worried it was going to be nothing but scrawny girls with improbable implants, which don’t do a whole lot for him. Not his style, as it were.

Yes, you do seem to like the ones that are particularly suited for breeding, Susan observes. And yet you have no offspring, despite the enthusiasm you display when you make the attempt. Curious.

Dave closes his eyes a moment, centring his breathing. If only he could figure out a way to strangle her, even for a moment, it would do wonders for his mental health.

That’s not...I’ll see if I can explain it later, he replies, wondering what he has done to deserve this. Right now we have to pay attention to what’s going on, and make sure we spot whatever is about to go wrong before it gets us first.

Call it pessimism, call it experience and realism, but he will be more surprised if things go smoothly and mundanely this evening than if they went sideways without warning. That’s just how life seems to work, these past few years.

Jack sense's the nightbane as he walks in, but doesn't see him or her. He tries to focus on their locaiton but the bartneder interrupts his conversation.

bartender wrote:"Did you want a bottle or on tap? Bottles are $4.00, we have a variety of bottled beers. We only carry Anheuser Busch beer products on tap, mugs are $5 but are larger than the bottles."

He smiles. Didn't I say hold the water? He sighs. "Bottle, please." If she lists products, he will pick one.

OOC Comments
I don't really care what beer.

As he awaits his beer, his nightbane-sense tingles as Alex enters, and he turns to see him.

Another one? Harriet - did you send me backup without telling me? Jack nods at Alex, and receives Alex's nod and smile in return.

No... Harriet would tell me if someone else were coming, so I didn't try to target the wrong nightbaby. Or rather... assume someone was a nightbaby when they're not. So... what's their game? Coincidence? Do they know my target?

Using what little he knows concerning his operation, the location, and Toledo, he tries to think of what other players might be interested here.

Intelligence 32% 1d100 = 39 (FAIL)
Lore: Vampires 45% 1d100 = 83 (FAIL)
Lore: Nightbane 55% 1d100 = 91 (FAIL)

There are simply too many possibilities. He sighs, collects his beer and leaves a dollar tip, and heads over to Alex.

"Hello friend." He extends a hand. "Name's Jack." He smiles, a genuine smile, as Jack is always glad to meet other people of his kind - at least initially. "Just a night on the town for ya?" Maybe add a little code here to see if he's part of the Underground Railroad... "... or are you looking for a parcel?"

When Franklin enters, Jack thinks Two might be an accident, but three is intentional. Or however the old saying goes. Something bigger than my assignment is going down here...

Alex takes the offered hand, gives a firm handshake, "Hi there. I'm Alex." He takes a moment to parse what Jack said, This guy must be here on business, that sounds like some weird code. "I just got into town last night. An acquaintance said this place was worth checking out for the lively entertainment." Who knows, maybe this guy is a local and is willing to talk "Why don't you have a seat and I'll buy you a beer, maybe you can share some insight about the town?"

Jack takes the proffered hand and shakes it. Well, he's clearly not Underground Railroad. Could he be here by coincidence?

Jack takes a seat, but holds up his beer. "I already have one, but thanks for the offer. As far as entertainment goes... I've never been to this place before. Toledo's a decent-enough town for folks like us. Long as we keep our heads down the townies never even know we're here. How long you been in town... and are you staying or passing through?"

He's not likely who I was sent here for... but it couldn't hurt to draw some intel for Moses.

Jack continues. "Toledo has all the usual... political groups, y'know. But, like I said, it's fairly easy for folks like us to get by. I do on-call I.T. work myself. Gets me out of the house. Great for meeting... new... people." He smiles. "What's your line of work?"

While they talk, Jack discreetly tries to concentrate, focusing his Nightbane sense to try to determine the location of the unseen Nightbane he sensed when he entered.

OOC Comments
Per the skill, he can use a perception roll to try to locate unseen Nightbane.

Jack buys some time by taking a pull of his beer as he again tries to renew his focus and locate the Nightbaby.

Perception 30% 1d100 = 44 (Trying again - FAIL AGAIN)

Well... crud. I guess I'll either have to wait until he or she shows their face... or do some exploring.

Alex smiles, well, this one is cagey, good survival trait for a 'Bane to have. "Well, nice to know this place is somewhat friendly. I've been in town a day, and I have a feeling I'll be around a while. Things got a little awkward at home after I had a nasty run in with some daylight-adverse fellows. That is really putting it mildly, I'm glad vampire corpses solve their own disposal issues with enough applied sunlight.

"I'm in what I guess you could call the arcane and paranormal knowledge acquisitions field. Although I'm working on getting to the point where I can just say 'I drink and I know things' stage. My employers decided here would be a good place to hang my hat." He takes a look around, and shrugs his shoulders, "I can't say their taste in places has really improved much, although the scenery is a bit better than most establishments I've had to frequent." Which I suppose is nicer than saying I usually get sent to someplace that would charitably be considered a hostile work environment, although the night is young.

The waitress, in response to the tip from Alex, responds, "Half the girls in here work nights, you gotta expect that though, many of them are ether college students and have classes in the day or are single mothers and have to come after the babysitter is available. We do have some Goth girls. There is one right over there at the bar, I can send her over."

The Waitress leaves and then Jack comes over. The girl at the bar comes over to the table, she has pale skin that sets off her tattoos...on the back of her thighs are a pair that read "drop" and "dead", on her right side is one that says "ashes to ashes". Others are morbid images such as skeletons. She has breasts that appear to be moderately large (probably "C" cup) and they appear to be natural (meaning a bit o the droopy side).

In fact, all the girls Alex sees appear to have natural breasts. It occurs to him that a Vampire's body would reject implants, they would fall out the first time the vampire turned to mist if they lasted that long. He does, however, think that any scars or tattoos they have before being changed would remain.

The girl says, "Hello, I am Treasure, I heard that you wanted to talk."

Jack thinks that it is likely the girl he is looking for is back in the dressing rooms and will be rotating back out after a break. Given that she is supposed to be the star attraction, they will likely make a production of her coming out...probably she will go direct to the stage and then after that be available for private things.

After being stripped of his canteen of holy water, Franklin enters the bar warily. These jokers are ON it. Gotta stay sharp.

Noting the presence of the other psychomorphs, he takes a seat farther down the bar and orders a G&T. Zilant said there'd be one here. And a lady. How many do the vamps have on their payroll? Do they do research grants?

For now, he just observes, trying to ID vampires or other supernaturals in the crowd and see how the business is conducted, including whether patrons disappear into the back, never to return. If any dancers come over to him, he politely turns them away. I can see naked people you can't touch on the internet, thank you very much!

Jack instinctively looks over to where the waitress is pointing, but if he doesn't register the goth girl as a Nightbane, he looks back to his beer.

Goth dancer wrote:"Hello, I am Treasure, I heard that you wanted to talk."

Jack smiles at Alex. "Hey man... good to meet ya. I'll leave you to it." He gets up, and walks over to the only other Nightbane in the room... Franklin Jefferson. As he walks, he tries once again to exercise his Nightbane sense to better locate the one presumably in the back.

Man... my Nightbane-sense is NOT working as advertised.

He steps over to Franklin, and sees his G&T. He holds up his beer in acknowledgement. "Cheers. Name's Jack." He points discreetly to Alex. "And that's my new friend Alex. It's good to have more than two of us in the same place at the same time... ya know? I don't often see that. Unless there's trouble."

He takes a swig of his beer.

"I hope there's no trouble. I was starting to actually enjoy myself."

After the Waitress sends Treasure over to talk to Alex, she goes over to check on the group at the corner table. They have readily agreed to the suggestion by Dave of a Stage Dance and inquire about it. The Waitress says that it can be arranged, but will have to wait until after the next two-fer dance. She also takes any order for food or drink while there.

(OOC: apologies for forgetting to include this in the previous post.)

Franklin observes patrons headed to the private dance areas, though not many (regular customers know about the two-fers and wait on them to get the most dance for the dollar). He does not see any obvious signs of a vampire, but realizes that vampires hiding in plain sight would have to be able to hide well.

Hmmm, not sure if this guy is just trusting or naive, not sure which is worse. Alex smiles as he says this, Make new friends, yeah, that is a good way to put it.

Alex nods in acknowledgement to Jack as he gets up, then takes a good look over Treasure "Well hello Treasure. Don't you look scrumptious" Not a bad package, hopefully she is friendly. Some good cover if nothing else.

Well, he'd figured that this wasn't going to be an especially swift procedure. Not that he is, per se, supposed to be dreading a night out at the strip club as part of a bachelor party.

It just all seems so...trivial, with what all that is going on in the world.

Not having had his dinner yet, and never being a man to deny his baser appetites for too long, Dave orders the special for that night -- cheeseburger and fries, the Ultimate American Fast Food.

He also inquires discretely with the waitress about the possibility of bringing the poor victim -- er, eager groom-to-be, that is -- a shot to start off his night.

More specifically, a Prairie Fire.

If Dave has to sit through this night to hopefully get some information, he can at least entertain himself.

Why are you so amused with yourself? Susan asks suspiciously.

You'll see, is all Dave will tell her.

Franklin slowly orders drinks and waits for something to happen/this psychomorph chick to show up. He also suspiciously watches the other psychomorphs at the bar, palling around.

Next time gotta bring a pocket mirror or put the holy water in a binaca or something. At least I can see in the dark.

(Vampire Lore)
While vampires can pass for human in many ways, there are several ways to detect them. The thing to remember is they are not alive, they have no pulse or heartbeat, their body does not sweat and also generally maintains a temperature near room temperature (somewhat higher when exercising). Their eyes are light sensitive and their pupils will not be as dilated in dim lighting as a human. They have no reflection in a Silver mirror (not any mirror, only silver mirrors), and can not be harmed by most weaponry...only silver, wood through the heart, and creatures with supernatural strength can harm them in strait physical combat (Magic aside). A vampire CAN eat...and can drink alcohol (including beer and wine) or milk (but if there is garlic in the food they will immediately throw up). They can not voluntarily cross running water except when enclosed in their coffin, though that tends to mean larger amounts of water. They have an allergy to holy symbols that are believed in by the ones presenting them (a cross is useless to a Muslim...holy water will only inflict extra damage if it is prepared by and used by one who believes in the Christian faith). In many stories, only a Dhampire, the half human offspring of a male vampire, or a Vampire Hunter can tell a vampire on sight. The can not face sunlight or fire as they tend to burn like a torch when exposed to either.

So, the easiest way to tell a vampire is to have a reflective silver surface to look into. Lacking that, a touch on a central body area (not the hands or feet as many people have poor circulation in the extremities) may reveal a lower body temperature (get a lap dance from one and the difference will be obvious enough if you are looking for it). Sticking one with a pin or the like will work too, unless the pin is silver it will not penetrate the skin. Hitting one with a couple of drops of water will do nothing obvious...though a larger amount (like a super soaker or hose) will wash away the parts struck like they were made of loose soil. Looking into the eyes takes a bit more skill to reveal they react wrong, but can be done. If a vampire is hungry, the sight or scent of fresh blood may cause a reaction.

Jack leaves the table so that Alex can be alone with Treasure. He goes over to Franklin, who seems to be ignoring hima and looking for something.

Alex asks Treasure if she would like a drink or food, and she says, "Better not to have too much food before dancing, but I could use a beer. One is my limit per hour though, it would not do to be drunk while dancing either."

Simon orders a spicy drink as a joke on the groom.

The DJ says, "And now gentlemen, the moment you have all been waiting for. Voted the most beautiful Showgirl in Ohio three years running. Hush Showgirls is pleased to present, Tracy!"

Tracy strides out of the changing area, dressed like most of the other girls in a bikini, garter on one leg, and high heels. She towers over most of the others, she must be within an inch either way of six feet WITHOUT the heels. Her face has a wide-eyed look, high cheekbones, a strait nose, and gives an overall impression of innocence...some would say the face of an angel. Her body is something else, curves that are seldom seen this side of a comic book...a waist that may be 24 inches but seems tiny given her height, hips and a bustline that may reach 40 inches, and breasts that are full and round and probably in the I-cup range. She moves with an aura of sensuality that has nearly every man in the place unable to take their eyes off her. Her skin tone is a bit dark, either a deep tan or a trace of mixed blood, her eyes are brown, her lips full and red, and her hair is black like a starless night and wavy and flows to her shoulders.

The Nightbane can immediately tell this is one of them, and as she makes her way around the stage to the stairs, she glances at each of them briefly.

(OOC: She has the Nightbane Traits - Unearthly Beauty: Animal Magnetism, Unusual Facial Features: Angel Face, and Superbeing: Bold and Beautiful. Her PB is at least 27 and could be well over 30...though obviously beauty is a matter of opinion)

The DJ continues on, "Remember guys, all of our showgirls are available for private dances, and they get paid by dances and tips, so get up to the stage and tip the girls or take them back to the private areas for a dance."

Treasure says something about, "The girls all hate her...we love the customers she brings in, but nobody looks at us twice while she is on stage."

It's finally time for this Tracy to make her appearance, and the woman does not disappoint. Startlingly tall for a woman, she doesn’t look to be a whole lot shorter than Dave himself is, and that is always something he found intriguing in a woman – not to mention easier on his back. Her proportions are implausible and her appeal is mesmerising, immediately putting him in mind of Jessica Rabbit. She is...amazing.

That one is...particularly compelling, Susan notes, sounding almost distracted. Such a one would make a most impressive Bearer, yes she would.

Dave had already suspected there was something unnatural about this woman, that was why he's here. Hearing such an...endorsement...from Susan, however, pretty much confirms it. He knew, on a rational level, that this isn’t a normal reaction to a gorgeous woman – a woman who by all rights should be a runway model or an actress, not a pasties-stripper – but something more.

He still can’t help but feel that it's such a shame, because damn is this woman hot in a way that makes you want to take advantage of that angelic face.

Yeah, I think we’ve got a hit here, he replies to Susan, trying to keep his mind on the job. We’re getting hit with some kind of ‘isn’t she amazing’ whammy. Any thoughts on what she is? There were...options.

Snagging the waitress as she comes by, he finds himself unwilling to completely take his eyes off Tracy as she dances, and so speaks in an aside to the woman.

”She do the group dances too?” he inquires. He’d rather get as many at once as he can, but if she isn’t going to be around for that portion of the evening he’ll have to scan her now.

Not that he isn’t enjoying the old Mark I Eyeball scan he's giving her right now, mind you.

Jack semi-consciously gravitates to the stage area as she comes out. What he wants to think is Target acquired. What he thinks instead, is Hooollleeeee shiiiiiit. Despite not seeing himself as human any more, Jack does still appreciate human (and American) standards of beauty, and whatever mojo this Nightbaby is packing, he's feeling it.

He takes a seat at the stage as she makes eye contact.

DJ wrote:"Remember guys, all of our showgirls are available for private dances, and they get paid by dances and tips, so get up to the stage and tip the girls or take them back to the private areas for a dance."

I'll file that away under 'how to lose all your money'. As she dances, he observes, attempting to work out her talents from sight and inference.

She's a Barbie - Harriet said as much, so I could be looking at her Morphus form right now and not know it. Does she even know? DJ said best showgirl three years running... could it be had her becoming three years ago and no one's contacted her? That doesn't sound right... This... this is no vanilla 'package run'.

He looks around, dismayed, at the number of clamoring male patrons. Yeah... gonna have to buy a private dance if I want a moment to talk to her at all.

If/When she comes around to dance, he'll pass her a dollar tip, and ask her "Private dance later?" with a smile.

ROLLS HELD

When Jack comes over, Franklin eyes him up and down. "Name's Mortimer Toynbean. But you can call me Morty Toys. Are you saying there's going to be trouble here? I hope not. I'm definitely just here having a quiet drink and not following the orders of a terrifying flying snake monster. That would be weird."

When Tracy comes on stage, Franklin sits silently throughout the performance. No wonder they use this chick as bait. Whoever's the core of this psychomorph has some real issues. Like a whole library of back Playboys. I... wonder if I can get a private dance? How much do those cost anyway? Maybe I can sell some fake A's. I think she needs to be saved...

If Jack's still around, he says to him, "I may need to do some investigating. I think that's what I'm here for. Are you part of this bloodsucker thing?"

Assuming he can afford it, Franklin will try to set up a private dance with Tracy.

The artifact answers Dave silently, *It is possible she is one of the many supernatural creatures who prey upon humanity by assuming an attractive female form, but I do not feel any trace of the malefic about her. Most demons have an aura of supernatural evil that I should be able to feel. More than that would require a spell to determine..my senses in this form are quite limited.*

The Waitress will say, "Of course sir, the stage show does promise all the Showgirls, and that includes Tracy when she is here."

Jack leaves the conversation with Franklin as soon as Tracy takes the stage. Almost certainly a Morphus form. A Classic "Barbie", possibly a plain or rejected girl who badly wanted to be liked or wanted. Like many of them, she has the trait called Animal Magnetism, it makes her physically attractive and compelling. He is pretty sure there is more to her than that, many of those types are small and appear frail, this one seems almost visibly superhuman. There is something about her face too...but she is absolutely a Barbie if this is her Morphus. She is getting a lot of tips, many of them much larger than Jack offers, but she looks at him and says, "The Twofer dance starts just after I get off stage, I will be available then sugar."

Treasure touches the tat on her side that says, 'Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust' and says, "This was one of my first tats, I got it after my mom died. It was the start of by being a Goth really, her passing made me realize how impermanent life is, in many ways death is the only thing that is real." She seems pleased that Alex's attention is on her and not on the wet dream up on the stage.

Franklin probably sounds like he is talking crazy to Jack, before the other Nightbane heads up to the stage to try his luck at talking with Tracy. Looks like there is quite a crowd up there, if the Snake Bird is right, all that gorgeous flesh is hung on an underage girl...and some of the others here are Vampires. He probably needs to talk to her also...but how to arrange it?

So. While not something truly demonic – which is definitely for the best, all things considered – this woman can be anything from a human using some sort of glamour magic to a vampire, or a Nightbane, or even some sort of magical construct, for all he knows. Or something else entirely.

”Well, not narrowing it down much just yet,” Dave mutters to himself. He’ll have to bide his time for a while longer, nurse a sub-par beer and wait for his chance to check out the majority of the club in a single sweep. He isn’t in a hurry, and if there is something odd going on here better to avoid raising undue suspicion.

”So, that about what you’ll have waiting for you from now on?” he asks the incipient groom over the music, grinning broadly. Sure, it isn’t very nice, but he does get a bit of a kick out of ribbing people. Where's the harm?

Morty Toys? Okay, I get not wanting to give out your real name in a titty bar, but... at least make it believable. As he watches Tracy, he only half-hears the rest, but certain parts do gain his attention.

"Bloodsucker?" Is he talking vampires? Is there some vamp thing going on? Jack instinctively takes a look around, trying to evaluate whether this could be a vamp nest.

"Yeah, man, apparently vampires are real. And they're here. And they're not sparkly. But they probably are sparkly here because body glitter, right? They're using creepy dreamgirl as bait, so don't let your guard down along with your pants. Also, apparently that chick is underage, so don't go to jail. I don't know you, but psychomorphs gotta watch out for each other."

He looks around the room, keeping an eye out. "You see that guy over there? This snake was about as long as he is tall and it had feather wings and a fear of travel. Also no sense of personal boundaries. Oh, hold on, gotta do a thing."

Franklin then casts See Invisible as surreptitiously as possible. -2 PPE

After Jack talks to Tracy and goes to stand by the bathroom, Franklin 'casually' sidles over (MA 9 for the win!). "So, I saw you talking to Salome over there. Are you getting a dance or whatever? I need to talk to her, not do a creepy two-guys/one-girl thing, but if I can get thirty seconds I'd consider it a solid. No sense shelling out hundreds of dollars on my own just to talk and still risk jail, right? Because, I repeat, UNDERAGE."

Jack nods, a concerned look crossing his face. "I knew about the vamps... I just didn't expect to run into any. I should've known this wasn't gonna be easy." He looks at Tracy a moment longer. "Underage?" How underage can she be? She's been top showgirl 3 years running... Not that it matters. Priority #1 is get her away from the vamps.

Jack nods, a smirk on his face. Trusting the dance music to keep their conversation relatively private, he says quietly, "I'm all business tonight - I'm paying for a dance so I can talk to her away from the hoi polloi. I figure I'm sent here to free her, if she's vamp-bait. I'm with the Underground. If that's okay with you, I sure could use a partner."

The erstwhile groom responds to David's jibe, "Nope...that is eye candy for sure, and possibly fodder for an occasional fantasy, but think about it. A woman with all that going on and the best she can do is a place like this? She could win beauty pageants, be a model, even be an actress if she has any skill. No, physically that is about perfect, but it is like a mirror...all appearance no real depth. I did not fall in love with my wife because she was the sexiest girl around, I love her because she is beautiful from the inside out, and we have things in common we can build a life on."

Jack listens to "Morty" with half an ear at first, his eyes still glued to Tracy, who has gotten to the "topless" part of the show. The tape pasties seem to be a reasonable color and size to match her real areolas, from a distance it is hard to tell they are tape. His mind snaps back into focus when the other man starts talking about things that might seem crazy to anyone who is not a monster themselves, Vampires and Winged snakes.

He does not see any fangs or glowing eyes...and not much pale skin, but this could be a vampire lair. The blacked out windows would certainly fit. He wracks his brains a bit and recalls hearing about Winged Serpents called Snake Birds living in the Nightlands, some of the Night Lords capture them and keep them around to torment...it seems likely one of them would take any chance to escape, even if it meant coming here. Come to think of it, there are rumors about something like that joining one of the other factions though he can not quite recall which.

The part about being underage...well actually that fits the profile. A girl of say eleven or twelve, just starting to be aware of her sexuality and rejected by a boy she likes because of her physical lacks might awaken as a Nightbane looking like exactly what she thinks boys want.

He admits he is with the Underground, which most Nightbane have at least heard of, and offers to let Franklin help him.

Franklin is somewhat taken aback by Jack's blase' acceptance of Vampires. He casts his spell to see the Invisible, but nothing stands out...unfortunately it will not tell him if, say, a snake bird with folded wings is lying up on top of one of the metal rafters behind a light fixture looking down...hidden from sight but not invisible. He has to admit, Jack has a reasonable idea about being alone with Tracy, though how he himself will talk with her is a different question.

Dave...is pleasantly surprised, and his estimation of his colleague goes up a notch.

”You’ve figured out one of the big Secrets, my friend,” he says with a smile. ”Pretty women are everywhere—“ even if few of them were as impressive a specimen as this one ”but to find that one special person that completes you, makes you stronger, gives you purpose?” He taps his left hand lightly on the table top, his ring making a clicking sound.

”Don’t ever let that go. ‘Til death do us part’ isn’t a sentence, it’s a bitter-sweet reminder that your time together is all too short, no matter how long it might be. Cherish it,” he says with a sincere smile, and decides right then and there that he’ll keep this kid out of whatever trouble his malicious-minded co-workers might have planned for him. He deserves a chance at what s obviously his good thing.

Susan...is silent, in the aftermath of his multi-layered comment, but she had felt the emotion behind his words, and he can feel hers behind the silence. For all that they snipe at each other on a routine basis, theirs was a partnership just as profound, and he knows just how much better his life is because of it.

Not safer, by any means, but better.

Huh, if nothing else she has an advanced view on death. Not exactly enough to call her a Vampire. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to eternal life. Old burial prayer. I've met a few people who think eternal life isn't something you can't enjoy on earth." Alex kind of laughs after he says it, Well, that might be a little to far. Guess I can do something I know will let me check her out. "Sorry, not trying to be a drag. I don't suppose they have someplace a little more private, and you can show me all your tattoos?" Alex smiles at Treasure, doing his best to give her the impression it really is about her tattoos.

Treasure chuckles, "It is a bit too early for you to see me naked, but if you want a private dance so you can get a closer look at them, there are dance rooms behind that curtain on the other side of the bar. It is $20 to take me there and, if you like what I do, tips are appreciated. The two for $30 dance is coming soon though, most guys prefer to wait for that."

Perception 30% 1d100 = 83

JIC: 1d20 = 13

Jack vaguely remembers hearing a rumor about a snake bird from the Nightlands joining one of the factions. He turns to franklin, quietly enough not to be overheard, aand asks "Do you work with one of the factions here in Toledo?"

Lore: Nightlands 50% 1d100 = 19 (Remember info about snake birds - SUCCESS)
Intelligence 32% 1d100 = 17 (Intel about the snake bird and the faction it supposedly joined - SUCCESS)

As Tracy dances, the "underage" thing clicks, and Jack turns away, partly in disgust - both at himself and at the whole sick situation. That's her Morphus, then. Her Facade's gonna just look like a kid. Forever. His stomach lurches one more time. What a shitty situation for anyone to be in.

He turns to Franklin again. "Okay... they have something called a Two-Fer dance, which I figure is two guys watching one girl dance. Perfect opportunity for us to get her in a room. We gotta get her out of this situation. Although, part of me just wants to turn this place upside down and shake it. I think you're on target about the vampires. Our friend over there..." He gestures at Alex, "... is on the lookout for bloodsuckers too, so maybe we need to fold him in? Once he's done talking to that goth dancer, that is." Jack sets his jaw, determined not to let the fangers use this little girl as bait one night longer. "Whatever happens, this ends tonight."

OOC Comments
Such was not discussed beforehand, but I'm assuming the Underground has safehouses that Jack knows the location of, where he could take someone if need be. Correct me if I'm incorrect, or assuming Jack knows about something he doesn't.

ROLLS HELD

As the full extent of the situation sinks in, Franklin feels sick, and then angry to such an extent that he has difficulty speaking. She's not... not just underage, she's a CHILD?!? I'm gonna have words with Aircaptain Scales later. He said the suckers here were 'okay' but they need to finish dying. And we need to get her out of here. They're lucky I'm not in my flipside now, otherwise I'd probably be tearing this place APART.

Taking a few long, slow breaths, he turns back to Jack. "I don't work with anyone and unless you're talking Civil War, I don't know what the Underground is. You should be aware that the flying snake told me there might be a raid or something on this place. And I don't care anymore. I came to see what the situation was and now I want EVERY PARASITE IN HERE DEAD."

He glances over at Alex. "Tell your friend, don't tell your friend. Even if I have to come back here every damn day while they're sleeping I'm going to end each and every one of them. I can go invisible, so we don't need to wait for a creepy threesome dance. That's gross. Why would people even want that?"

Franklin pauses for a second, "Can you go astral? I want to know how worried I have to be about getting out after this starts."

Jack nods. "Underground railroad - we help new 'bane find safety."

Jack shakes his head. "Not astral, but I can become shadow. You don't have to worry about me - let's worry about HER."

Jack takes a few steps forward and lays a hand on Alex's shoulder. Looking at Treasure, he says "I'm sorry - I need a moment with my friend."

He waits until she departs, then addresses Alex, quietly enough not to be overheard. There is no implied threat - Jack truly wishes Alex no harm - but it's clear from his tone that once stuff goes down, the girl is his priority.

David observes three men whose eyes are not currently on the stage. One talks to a second, then a third. They did not arrive together, but he did she the third talking to the first before. Their behavior seems a bit odd when compared to the other men in the place. In fact, the first and second seem to be upset about something, though the third seems to be having a fairly normal conversation with a showgirl...and politely paying attention to her and not to Tracy

Jack reaches the conclusion that Tracy is probably very young. In retrospect the reason she might have been overlooked by the railroad is that she could have seemed too young for a first transformation. After that, she was apparently taken away by the vampires and somehow convinced to work for them. There may be more to the situation than they know, but both Jack and Franklin conclude that Tracy needs to be taken away from here and brought to the nearest "Station" for her own safety. Getting rid of the vampires seems to also be agreed upon by the two of them.

Jack goes to speak with Alex while Franklin fumes over how differently the Snake Bird looks at things than a human does. He has to conclude, however, that the creature is not human and can not be expected to understand human society. Jack is also thinking about the creature...he seems to recall that they have poison in both teeth and talons that is more deadly to Supernatural creatures than normal ones, and that they have magic of some kind...oh and they actually fly pretty well. He thinks the Snake Bird might be with the Seekers, one of the more intellectual and less action oriented groups.

The song ends and Tracy starts picking up her clothing and tips. The lights start flashing colored dots around the room (a housecat would go crazy) and the DJ announces, "Long time patrons know what the lights mean. It is time for the Twofer dance, grab a showgirl and take her to the private booths to get two dances in a row for only thirty dollars, rather than paying twenty for each dance. After the Twofers, we have a special treat in store for a special guest...a stage dance for the guest of honor at the Bachelor party at the corner table."

Tracy is still on the stage gathering her tips, but a lot of patrons seem to be vying for her attention.

Dave frowns slightly before schooling his face to a mildly pleasant expression. A small cluster of agitated men who aren’t really paying attention to the strippers isn’t out of place per se – it just means they have another agenda for being here. It could be some sort of criminal encounter using the club as a setting to camouflage it, it could be a meeting in a neutral location – it could even be a lover’s quarrel, for all he knows.

That didn’t mean he likes it, however. He’s pretty sure already that there is something abnormal going on here, with Tracy and potentially the club management; with the level of agitation he’s now seeing, he decides that waiting longer might be a mistake. If need be, he can scan the place again later.

Looks like we’re going to go early on the spells, he tells Susan, doing a quick once-over of the club to make sure he’s got good lines of sight.

When they had first bonded, Susan had told him of the handful of genuine magical spells that she had available to her, and how to trigger them. Since theirs is both a telepathic and empathic union, the specific trigger phrases aren’t as important compared to the meanings associated with them.

Dave, of course, immediately fashioned a series of spell triggers that were memorable, relevant, not likely to raise suspicions if overheard, and – most importantly – exasperated his partner.

”What's their Signs,” he drawls quietly in a hippie accent, and can feel Susan rolling the eyes she doesn’t possess.

But she does bring up their limited-duration aura sight, and he swiftly but methodically scans the visible portion of the club for anomalies – making certain he catches Tracy before she leaves the stage entirely, and the two or three oddly-acting men down at the tables.

"Well... crud. that doesn't mean what I thought it meant." He looks back at Franklin, and walks back over to him. "New plan - either you or I pay for the dance, the other one of us hits the men's room and goes astral or shadow to get into the room. We talk to her together, and go from there. What do you think?"

If Franklin offers to pay for the dance, Jack will hit the restroom, and duck into a stall, changing into his morphus when he's sure no one can see.

He will then activate his Shadow Slide ability (-10 P.P.E. for the first 10 minutes), and surreptitiously slip out of the restroom under the door, and into the back room where the dances are held, and wait for Franklin.

If Franklin opts to go astral, Jack will approach Tracy, forcefully but not violently pushing to the front of whatever group, and smiling, offer her $30. "Hey - I'm ready for that dance, sweetheart." Ugh. This is so disgusting...

Okay, not that I would mind that, but really just want to check and see if she has a pulse. Of course, they didn't say I couldn't enjoy myself while I was here, just need to make sure I handle business as well. Alex laughs quietly, "Well, all good things come in time, But for right now, I honestly just wanna have some fun and a more enjoyable environment to see your tattoos. Seeing everything on the first dance would ruin the anticipation ya know?"

Just make sure you think through what you are going to do, we are not exactly easy for vampires to coerce into things. Or for other 'Bane to coerce for that matter" I really hope he isn't going with 'make it up as I go along' for a plan. "Now if you don't mind, I need to get back to seeing if the lady there has a pulse or not"

Alex will motion Treasure back over "Sorry about that, I think it might be his first time in one of these places. Weird coincidence us being here on the same night. Where were we? Oh yeah, private dances. I imagine appreciating your tattoos isn't going to be a fast thing, so I don't see a reason to wait to get started." Alex smiles at her, Hopefully this didn't get screwed up. And who knows, maybe she will take not caring about the cost of dances as a sign and play the extra affectionate card to try and eek some extra cash out of me. That would make it easier to figure out if she is a fanger.

When Jack makes his move with Tracy, Franklin ducks out of sight (either the bathroom or a dark corner and turns invisible as quietly as possible, then follows the two into the private room.

David activates his See Aura spell, and one of the guys says, "Who cares what their signs are, unless you are trying to figure out which one might let you take her home."

David, on the other hand, is more concerned with what the spell shows him. (Fortunately, the spell does not require a perception roll).

Tracy: High PPE, Aberrant, Magic
Franklin, Alex and the Bartender: High PPE, Magic
Jack: High PPE
Treasure: Abarrent, High PPE, Psionic, Magic
Other Showgirls: 7 read Aberrant, High PPE, Psychic
The crowd and the Waitress appear to be normal humans

Susan comments silently, "We could be in trouble, Aberrant plus high PPE plus Psychic generally means Vampire in my experience."

Jack asks Tracy to join him, and Franklin finds good spot to turn invisible (the darkened corridor behind the south wall is probably best, no need to open or close a door). Tracy takes Jack through the curtain behind the bar (no door on that room), since this is only a private dance not a VIP dance, and taked the middle of the 5 areas (the one strait back from the curtain). Franklin follows, invisible. The dancing area is not all that big, so Franklin will have a bit of trouble not being bumped by various men taking showgirls to the other spots.

Once the other girls are in place so that no more are walking past, Tracy asks Jack, "Now who are you and why do I feel like I should know you? I Do not know your face." Jack realized that Tracy, despite being a Nightbane for some time, has somehow not talked to other Nightbane about what she is. Perhaps the Vampires have been keeping other Bane from being alone with her. That would explain a few things about the call from "Harriet".

Treasure takes Alex through the Curtain to the spot to the furthest west.

The girls will take their $30 and then prepare to start their dance when the next song begins. That tends to be a couple of minutes for talking.

"Hey, man, those Scorpios are just crazy," Dave replies, his mouth on automatic as his stunned brain tags six -- seven -- no, nine of the dancers registering as something either terribly ill or not human, and he isn't about to wager on Hush giving a priority to hiring advanced cancer patients as their dancers. The bartender and the guys who are acting weird appear to be mages of some sort, and all of the aberrant dancers seem to be psychics, mages, or both.

He already has a sinking sensation that they were in way over their heads when Susan informs him of her suspicions.

I don't think we're in Kansas any more, Toto, Dave replies in the silence of his own mind, not bothering to try and conceal the chill feeling that he's experiencing. Suffice to say, I think we were right in believing something was up, here. I wasn't anticipating turning over a nest of vampires, of course, he adds dryly.

Well. Not that he had had any immediate plans to do anything, but if he had this definitely puts the brakes on things. There are vampires -- not that Tracy seems to be one, although she is definitely something -- wizards, mysterious other things that could be anything from Dopplegangers to Nightbane or something else entirely that he's never heard of before.

And he has no idea what the story is with any of them. Definitely time to take a step back, survive the night, get the hell out of here and do a lot more digging before coming back here. He's good at what he does, and he and Susan make a great team, but trying to start something with this group without an amazing plan and ideally some reliable backup would be tantamount to suicide.

No thanks.

For now, he'll just have to keep an eye on the ones that he knows are....

Um....

Well, he can still see the bartender, but as far as he can determine everyone else who he knows is more than they seem has disappeared somewhere, most likely into the private dance rooms if he has to guess.

Well, shit.

OOC Comments
Treasures comments are from PM with Zilant.

Alex hands Treasure her $30 and offers her a place on his lap “Here, I’ve picked a few skills in my life, one is that I’ve gotten pretty decent at shoulder rubs. Would you like one before we begin?” Might as well get the business part out of the way, hopefully I can enjoy the rest of the night with her afterwards.

Treasure will smile, "Sounds nice, but keep it to areas not covered by clothing." Given she is wearing a bikini and a garter belt, that is not saying too much.

Yeah, that isn't going to be hard. Okay, business man, keep focused on business. Time for play later. “Sure, I think I can manage that” Alex will start on her shoulders, and work his palms down her back. Assuming her skin has that cool feel vampiric skin has, he will work on her shoulders until it is about time for her to start her dances. “You have some very beautiful tattoos Treasure. Makes this a real pleasure.” It really does. And more than a little distracting.

Treasure's skin is cool, though given that she has been sitting in a bikini talking to you that is not definitive. Her muscles feel firm under her skin. She says, "Thank you, some guys do not like my skin art. Of course, most of those do not ask me for a dance."

“Well, some guys have no taste. A woman’s body is a beautiful thing. Her choosing to turn it into a work of art is her choice, and one that men should appreciate. I certainly do.” While he is doing this, Alex is trying to judge things so he has about thirty to forty-five seconds before the twofer begins. He is also working his fingers into her shoulders, from her neck all the way to her arms.

Now if Alex were a norman patron, the back rub would be at least half to get his hands on the dancer and probably would include exploring as much of the area close to where he is not supposed to touch as he can. Some are more polite and keep to the areas they have offered to touch and been allowed to. Treasure seems to be waiting to see which way you plan to go, but answers, "Tastes differ, we get all kinds in here."

Alex laughs, “Yeah, if everyone was the same it would make for a boring world. We all have our unique tastes, have to allow for others to have their unique tastes. We all end up in the same place at some point.” Some of us just take much longer to get there. He is doing his best to stick to the areas he was instructed to, no point in being disrespectful when there is no gain from it. Although he isn’t above getting a nice view of her assets as best he can, he does truly appreciate a tattooed woman. Yeah, this whole business before pleasure thing works so much better when it isn't a hot mostly naked woman sitting in your lap. “Personally I try to just accept people for who and what they are. Not my job in life to change people, especially if they don’t want to be changed”

"Most people do not really want to change, even if they say they do. Witness how few people actually quit smoking," replies the showgirl. She really does have some detailed tattoos, though mainly they are only in black and white...or rather black and skin.

“True. Most people also don’t really seem to know what they want. Makes it hard to change anything when you are that lost in your own life. I love your tattoos. Black and skin tattoos look amazing when done well. Your tattoo artist has a gift.” Helps that he had a fantastic canvas to start with. Mmmm, wonder if there are any hidden under what little clothing she is wearing? As much as he is enjoying this, Alex knows he is here on business, and Treasure seems a good candidate. “You know, this is very enjoyable. A very good way to pass the time. Anyway I can show my appreciation?” Alex knows the answer is money, the questions really is how is he going to get to give it to her.

Treasure looks over her shoulder and winks, "That is what the garter is for, sugar." The song that was playing ends, indicating the time for the dance is soon to begin.

Alex grins boyishly, “Well that is less fun than some other things I could think of.” Well, there goes plan A of copping a feel of her chest and seeing if she has a pulse that way. I must have done something for the universe to be hating on me so tonight. He reaches into his pocket gets out a twenty, and slides it down into her garter, then reaches for her wrist, and looks her in the eyes “This has been fun. I’m looking forward to the dance. Got to admit I was thinking a private area would allow for a little more alone time” While he has her wrist, he checks quickly for a pulse, the whole time keeping his eyes on hers.

Treasure says, "If you want more time, there are ways. They cost a bit more though."
Now, of course, when you meet their eyes is when a Vampire may try to control someone. If you do not meet their eyes, they have to rely on less powerful mental tricks. Their eyes take on a glow and few can resist their will. Treasure will attempt to control Alex...though she will not know if it works on him until he reacts inappropriately.

Well jackpot. Hope this doesn't ruin any chances of a nice evening. “Oh, beautiful, you really shouldn’t be so blatant. And just because it’s too perfect an opportunity to pass up, I’m a Bane, your mind tricks won’t work on me.” Lord, I've been wanting to use that for a while. Score. Alex smiles at Treasure, in what he hopes is a reassuring manner. “We should talk. I think we may have some mutually beneficial things to discuss.”

Treasure will reply, "Usually when a person is in here, their guard is down...and we were all stuck in here last night unable to leave. Most of us are hungry, but none of us want trouble. So what did you want to discuss...and did you still want a dance too?"

Well, looks like the universe isn't trying to ruin everything about my night. “Well, I will never turn down a dance from a vision like yourself, but the night is young. I’m here representing some associates. They have some concerns about whether or not you all are painting a target on yourselves, and by extension, others of your kind in town.” Alex looks like he is debating about something, and then looks like he made a decision. “And if you aren’t a danger to the local populace, I may have some people to introduce you to, who share you affection for nighttime and secrets.”

Treasure responds, "We are very low key here. Yes, we feed on the customers, and we mark them so that others will not feed too and bleed them dry. We do not kill anyone or take anything from them but blood, though they freely give us money we do not use the mind stuff except to get enough to eat and make the patrons forget about that."
She debates with herself and says, "We really do not hate Tracy...we pity her. She was just a kid when I rescued her from a slaver who was trying to addict her to drugs so she would turn tricks. During the withdrawal, she suddenly turned into what you see. I did not make her come dance here, she chose to join us."

“Smart operation. Looks and brains. Mmm, you are one dangerous lady. I can’t make any promises, my job is finding people and information, but I can introduce you to some beings who have some things in common with you. I think it would be good for everyone involved. Plus it makes a good excuse to spend some time around you when you aren’t at work, which I would like to do.” Looks and brains. Yes please. I wonder if I can keep her? Alex smiles at her. And shit, that is the girl Jack was all up in arms about. He has things all wrong. And crusaders don't tend to listen. Shit this could go sideways fast. I am not the hero type damnit. “And that is worse than I thought. I assumed you all didn’t force her into this, even though she isn’t exactly a combat form, Tracy doesn’t look easy to coerce into anything. But that kind of shit circumstance with a slaver would force the change. Damnit. Okay, before something bad happens, any chance you could get her and the guy she is with over here? I need to prevent a catastrophe in the making” Alex just shakes his head.

Treasure frowns, "We are not supposed to get into each other's areas when we are working, but if it is important. Did you says guys plural? I only saw one."

Alex looks, sure enough Jacks new friend isn’t visible. Well he is still here. So either he is out front, or he is a mage. Shit. This just keeps getting better. “Well, maybe just the one. Let me just say that I have concerns about how he may react. He seemed to know Tracy was underage, but also he was operating under the opinion she was being forced by the big bad vampires to do their evil bidding” Alex laughs. “I feel that as a gesture of goodwill, it might be wise to try and prevent an unfortunate misunderstanding if I can. If there isn’t a way to do it, we could just keep an eye out and try to head off any indiscretions. Like I said, I am enjoying the company” Very much so enjoying the company.

Treasure sighs, "I guess someone needs to talk to him, but do you think he would listen to me...or even to both of us? If they already have judged the situation without the full facts, they might not listen."

That is actually a good question. I'm gonna have some hope. “I think it’s possible. My guess would be he is focused on ‘saving’ the girl. Not starting a fight he likely wouldn’t win without some serious help.” Alex shrugs, “Considering this is your place, I will follow your lead, however you think is best to handle it. If you want to just keep an eye on them and talk or dance, that is what we will do. If you want to slip them a note, we can do that to. If you want to be more disruptive, well at least offer to let a guy take you for a night before that?” I have a feeling tonight is going to be a bust for enjoying her company. Maybe another night though? Alex tries to smile charmingly at Treasure

Treasure sighs, "I think we need to talk...but we will have to do this a bit different. because I need you all someplace we can talk longer. Pay along with the scene, OK?"

Alex winks at her, “Darling. I can do that. I’ll follow your lead. And I'll try to not be to distracted by the view.” Which is going to be difficult. Jack, please be a sensible soul under that gruff exterior.

$1780 remaining. (Seriously going to take Treasure to the VIP Room if the club is standing after whatever train wreck is headed our way happens)

Jack looks at the "private" dance area with some dismay, noting that it is anything BUT private. I have no experience in places like this... Hopefully we can talk without being overheard.

Tracy wrote:"Now who are you and why do I feel like I should know you? I Do not know your face."

Wow... she has NO idea what she is. I'm her first contact? After 3 years? Christ.

Jack nods, as if setting himself a mental checklist. He speaks to her sotto voce, so she can hear, but others who may be in the room hopefully will not. "We don't know each other yet. I'm gonna tell you some things, and I need you to listen, and believe me. First - you and I, and the two other men out there that you get this... deja vu sensation from? We're all the same kind of person. We're all called Nightbane. We can sense each other - it'll feel like this every time you're in range of one of us. Second - I know you have another form - looks like you looked 3 years ago. We all have one - I'm in mine now. It's called your Facade, and it's a mask you can wear to hide from the normals. I know that the form you're in now isn't your Facade - it's a special form we Nightbane can take, and it's different for each of us. It's called your Morphus, and you have special abilities in your Morphus form that you don't have in your Facade. Same for all 'Bane."

He gives her a moment to process this before continuing. "I'm Jack. I've been sent here to find you, and make sure you're safe. I'm part of something we call the Underground Railroad. We find new 'Bane, and if they're not safe, we get them to safety."

"So... the question I have for you is... are you safe? Because... by my guess, you're what? 14? 15? You shouldn't be in a place like this. Are you free to go? Do you WANT to go? Because my friend and I can help get you out of here. You don't HAVE to do this... "

(OODM: Only posting for Tracy at the moment, trying to catch Up Jack and Franklin to where the other are time wise.)

Tracy comments, "There was another one who came in recently, but he did not talk with me. I did not understand why he felt familiar. So I will feel that every time I meet one of you...Nightbane you said? Treasure did mention thinking I was something that that...though I was not paying much attention at the time."

She listens to the statement, and gives a sad smile, "It has been a long time since anyone but the other dancers actually worried about me. The girls and I protect each other." She considers and admits, "I am sixteen as of my last birthday..I did not start dancing right away...I had to learn how first. It is not as easy as it looks. I had to convince the others that I really wanted to join them first...but a girl has to eat and pay rent and I did not just want to sponge off Treasure...I owe her enough already for the rescue and teaching me how to avoid trouble."

Tracy adds, "Really though, looking like this I have little choice but to make my money off my body. Hollywood and the Model scene have been taken over by the invaders, or so the girls assure me. Pretty much all the media actually. I can not go there. I could get some guy to take care of me...but that would require putting out and I prefer not doing that unless I like the guy...and would requires someone who understands if they wake up next to someone who looks like a skinny kid in the morning. This way, I work when I want, make all I need, and can do what I want with the rest of my time."

Jack watches her reaction to the information he's just given her. Good. No freakout. I hate when there's a freakout.

So I will feel that every time I meet one of you...Nightbane you said? Treasure did mention thinking I was something that that...though I was not paying much attention at the time."

Jack nods. "Every time. And as you get better at it, you can even learn to use it to track a fellow 'bane you can't see. I'm not good enough to do that yet, but I'm working on it."

Tracy wrote:"It has been a long time since anyone but the other dancers actually worried about me. The girls and I protect each other. Jack frowns at the mention of her age. Sixteen? And she's been doing this for three years? Jesus. "Treasure's been good to you, then?"

Jack sighs. "You don't have to trade on your looks. We can find a family of 'bane to take you in, so you can finish school, learn some useful skills. Other than dancing."

Jack looks uncomfortable for a moment before continuing. "Because... here's the thing. I think they're using you. As bait." He leans closer, almost conspiratorially. "You... know what they are, right?" Vampires. You're being pimped out by vampires, kid. After a moment, he asks, "Is there... punishment for girls who won't dance?"

A Disturbing Lack of Education
Perception: 1d100 = 1
JiC d20/d100: 1d20 = 14 / 1d100 = 44

OOC: Technically, Franklin has no capacity to succeed on a Talking roll, do with this what you will.

As Tracy and Jack talk, Franklin thinks, Man, they really did a number on this girl. Convincing her this is the ONLY life she can have. Serving them.

"Hey, please don't scream. I'd like to drop the invisibility and chat, if that's cool."

Assuming Tracy replies in the affirmative, Franklin pops up standing in the corner. "Other than some of the mumbo-jumbo that he's spouting, what Jack says makes sense. I just met the guy, but I know that vampires are bad news. Even if you're getting paid, this is them using you as bait and extra protection. Psychomorphs are POWERFUL. Look, you got a computer? Email? I kick you some links about why underage laws exist, it's about the idea of consent - if you don't think there's an alternative, or there's a big power and knowledge differential, there's not way to really make a decision. And if you've never heard of Stockholm syndrome or the Stanford Prison Experiment, that's gonna be some good reading too. If you don't have a private email, I can get in here and leave you some printouts or whatever, it'll just take a bit longer."

Franklin looks at the curtain, but his actual gaze is miles and years away. "My parents, they thought there were only certain jobs I could do, right? Mechanic, plumber, I figured out I could be a doctor, a professor, work at a corporation. But check this out, there are a MILLION different jobs like independent jewelry maker or, uh, the person who finds people who look a certain way for movies. Telling yourself you're one thing, being TOLD you're one thing, is FUCKED UP until you decide what you are. And the only way you're going to figure that out, is to get an education, check some stuff out." Franklin points at Jack, "This Psychomorph Adoption Service is a good idea. Think about it and make up your mind."

He turns to look at Jack, "And that's why calling somebody a Nightbane is messed up, Jack. We're our own people, not defined by whatever this Night is you're saying we should Bane. Bean. Bine... Just cause you're used to traveling on a train doesn't mean you gotta stay on one track."

Tracy is startled for a moment when Franklin appears behind her, "Gotta warn you, the rule is only one guy back here with a girl at a time. For the human girls, it is a safety thing. Hey, can you teach me that spell? It was a spell right? Treasure has been teaching me and Becky magic."

She answers the two of them, "No one is forced to dance here. I do know I draw in the men, and that many of the other girls here are Vampires. It is not like most of them had a choice about that, some older vampire...usually a guy...decides to live out a fantasy and make a bunch of pretty girls his slaves. After a while he turns one of two favorites into Vampires too, and because he created then he has some control over them still. The thing is, the girls here are careful, they only feed once on any man until more than a month has passed, they only use control to make the man let them feed and then forget anything more than a dance happened, and they do not create more vampires. The new bosses are bad guys, but they did a lot of girls here a favor by killing the masters who controlled them."

She continues, "Sure, I could go do other work. There may be a million jobs out there you can do without being face to face, but I have an eighth grade education, and was not all that good in school. Most of the jobs I could get are boring and low pay, I would be slaving away for hours every single day to make half what I make here is a single hour...and this is fun. The other girls have been tutoring me, they all want me to get my GED and most of them want me to find better work. A Lot of the vamps seem to think of me as the daughter they can never have."

Jack nods. "Fair enough. My Underground Railroad person explained it the way I'm explaining it, but it's whatever works for you. Don't like Nightbane? Use Psychomorph." He smiles. "The important part is that we are what we are - something more than human."

Tracy wrote:"Gotta warn you, the rule is only one guy back here with a girl at a time. For the human girls, it is a safety thing."

Jack smiles sadly. "Tracy... we ain't here to watch you dance. We're here to rescue you. I'd have brought an army if I could, and if I thought it'd help."

Tracy wrote:"No one is forced to dance here. I do know I draw in the men, and that many of the other girls here are Vampires. Jack tilts his head, perplexed. "Okay," he sighs, "I'm gonna need you to think about what you've told me for a minute. Okay? Someone brought you here, to a strip club, at 13 years old or so. Which is bad enough. They've got you dancing for grown-ass men with your clothes off. Which is ...just gross. And then they feed on the johns. These guys are not willing participants in that. They are victims. And making them forget afterward is not a mercy to the victims... it's to prevent a mob with torches from burning the joint down in the warm light of day."

Tracy wrote:"Sure, I could go do other work.

Jack shakes his head. "Who told you that you had to work? You're sixteen. School should be your job."

He sighs and continues. "This whole place is vile. It's shitty what they're doing to you, to the guys who come here, and to every decent being. I'd like to take you out of here, for good. And I'd like to shut this operation down."

Jack covers his mouth with his hand for a moment, trying not to lose his cool. "I'm gonna need you to trust me when I say that this place is no good for you, or anyone else. As a Psychomorph... you're so much better than this. Girl, you are being used... squandered. And being made to think they're doing you a favor."

This conversation is crazy, Jack thinks. I can't leave her in this situation, but I don't want to... well, to kidnap her. If she can't see reason... what do I do?

Everyone had vanished from sight for only a minute or two before Dave finds himself getting to antsy to sit still any longer.

"Hey guys, I'll be right back, hitting the bathroom," he tells his somewhat distracted coworkers to cover his absence. Pushing back his chair, he begins a wandering tour of the club floor. He's seen some of it based on their website online, but he'd rather have a better idea of just what leads where, now that he has an idea of just how dangerous a place this could be.

If it comes down to it, he wants to know the best exit strategy in advance rather than try and make something up on the fly. And an alternate exit strategy, for the all-too-likely eventuality that the first one gets blown out of the water in the first moments.

The joy of being a pessimist is either you are right all the time, or you get to be pleasantly surprised in your favour....
