Keiko wrote:Keiko finishes reading the pitch statement, and smiles back at Vort. "That's a hell of a pitch. Sounds like the jobs will be fun. If we can get interest in it. I don't see why you wouldn't. Lots of people out there who want to fix things or keep some deniability." Keiko presses her fingers together before looking at Vort over top of them, "I would say I would like to to be fully involved. We have seen each other in varying capacities before, so we know what we can do. So I am willing to fully commit to this endeavor for an even split of the rewards."

Keiko gives Vort a wink and turns to address Erebos, "You should know what we bring to the table. Unless time played with your mind...oh...that might have been my fault. Time just never seems to work right around me." Keiko gives a playful smile. Keiko is very away how unwelcome her abilities are here in Splynn.[/quote]

Érebos raises one eyebrow at the Felinoid. "I know what you bring - but I haven't seen her since she was a wee little wyrmling," he says to Keiko while tipping his head toward Ven.

Truth be told, she wasn't that little... and undoubtedly, hatchlings tend to come with similar skill sets, but surely there are some variations in ability and skill...

Venenifer wrote:She's brought back from her thoughts as the Raksasha and large mortal move towards their own table, she shakes her head and looks back toward Vortigern. "Yes, I think we'll be able to have a much better time than when we all first met." She says with a sly smile, tilting her head, letting her hair roll to her right shoulder. She looks over the pitch with a nod.

"Well, color me interested, Vortigern." She says with fanciful smile before looking to Keiko. "Oh, absolutely. I've no problems with, ahhem, spreading my wings for the cause." She looks back to Vort and Erebos with a narrowed set of eyes and a continued sly smile before adding, "I've grown considerably since our last encounter, and in more ways than one." She adds as the concierge enters to announce the departure, she'll take her drink and stand.

"My dear Ven - not only did I suspect as much, I'm counting on it!" he says, returning the sly wink.

Venenifer wrote:"Come, walk with me to the observation deck, we must find a good view. And we mustn't miss the skyline departure, and we've all night to iron things out." She finishes and takes Keiko's arm, beckoning the two men to follow her to the Observation Deck.

She'll look to the concierge with a smile that never leaves the dragoness's face, "Tell me, good man, where could our group of four find the best spot on the Observation Deck?" She asks playfully. [Charm/Impress 90%]: Invalid dice code!]

Observation deck... I hope it's not in the direct sunlight... he thinks while taking a deep breath, looking at Vort, and shrugging.

The demon's companion lets out a deep basso laugh at something the raksasha said, then says in a deep basso voice "Come let us go find a place on the Observation Deck" They head out the door and out of sight.

Venenifer wrote:She'll look to the concierge with a smile that never leaves the dragoness's face, "Tell me, good man, where could our group of four find the best spot on the Observation Deck?" She asks playfully.

The man smiles at Venenifer, "There are no bad places on the Observation Deck. You will understand when you get down to it. I would imagine this close to the beginning of things, it will be filling up however, so you may wish to make your way down to it."

Ahh, yes... "down" to it. It's been some time; I had forgotten. Been away a bit too long, methinks.

Keiko wrote:Keiko smiles as Ven takes her arm. "Of course. We must see the city as we depart."

Keiko's smile grows as she senses Erebos discomfort in the sun. "Have no fear my friend. I believe the sun is above us and the observation deck is below us. I have full faith you'll be able to find a shadow or two." Keiko, with brandy and Ven in hand, will make her way down to the observation deck. Looking to find a good spot for the four of them to sit...or stand...depending on the deck.

The Shadow Mage manages a slight smile, though he's now aware the Observation Deck is "down" rather than "up". "Now, Keiko - you know if for some reason I can't, I'll just have to make a few..." he says with an amused look on his face.

Venenifer wrote:Hearing Keiko mention Erebos's distaste for the sunlight, she laughs, covering her mouth with her hand and nodding. "I could fill the whole deck with a nice black smoke." She says playfully towards Erebos before beckoning him and Vortigern to follow her and Keiko down to the Observation Deck.

"My... peculiar arcane specialty... is rather negatively affected by bright and direct light," he explains cryptically to the Dragoness as coughs a bit uncomfortably. When Ven mentions the smoke: "Indeed - 'twas my first impression of you. A rather good impression, I might add..." he says with a wink.

Vortigern wrote:Vortigern seems bemused and slow to react yet eventually draws himself up to follow after the ladies towards the Observation deck. His eyes follow the movements of the Rakshasa and he hesitates a moment before turning and heading over to stand nearby the Demon on the deck. He hooks his thumbs into his belt and stands so as to be looking away from the Demon, as if enjoying the view, as he speaks. (Demogogian)"It has been some time since I've met one of your People without Summoning one first. Though of course that might be less true than I might assume with your penchant for wearing faces. Regardless I've always found you to be engaging conversationalists. Though regrettably the battle for Center did put per force your people and I on opposite sides. An unfortunate affair for us all. I regret stumbling into it. Perhaps you might recognize me? I was among those who directly confronted and defeated General Halthag. I am Vortigern Taerea." He speaks slowly, softly. Then pauses as he continues to let the view serve as pretext for his actions, and his listener decide how they want to react. A few seconds later he turns to face the Rakshasa and gently continues. "It is my hope that such past strife can remain in the past where it belongs. My allies and I are assembling a new enterprise. Here in Atlantis. A contracting service for handling problems or gathering intelligence in particular of a dimensional nature. We have a variety of competencies that make us confident of being able to fulfill contracts in our chosen niche, as select as it may be. And I hope my deeds may speak for themselves in giving you assurance that I can overcome opposition and will complete tasks despite all. Yet there I bear no grudge for the past. We'll be opening for initial contracts soon. If there is anything we can help you, or any allies, with I would be gratified if you would consider us. If you do not object to me as a provider of services, I will not object to you as a client." he says, giving a faint smile and nod.

Érebos is intrigued, but - as one who is quite proficient in Demongogian himself - hears Sir Vortigern out.

I'm not sure I'd make such a bold approach... then again, he's comfortable with those types, and likely knows more about them than their own species... thinks the Shadow mage as he listens to Vortigern speak.

Ever paranoid and watchful, he attempts to discreetly observe the security and/or identify threats, as well as potential prospects, on the Observation Deck where they all stand.

You make your way down to the Observation Deck, the lowest deck of the airship. It is a large open floorplan, made entirely out of some see through substance, with a 20 foot ceiling. Inside, you can understand why there are no bad spots, as it afford a rather impressive view all around the ship. The deck has several groups of beings already here, one of what you assume are giants of some type, with the other groups comprised of what you assume are demons and deevils of some variety. All in all there are about 30 other beings on the deck, not counting the staff.

The raksasha looks down at Vort, and snorts. "I'm sure you you are impressive in your own way, but I would be careful about saying you are a demon slayer about town. Just because this tour doesn't allow for violence, does not change much. I am sure a business such as the one you describe will get plenty of interest in a dimensional hub such as Atlantis, however I am here on vacation, not business, and so I would suggest you go elsewhere to try and drum up business. Good day sir." With that he turns back to his companion.

"Well then..." says the Shadow Mage, rolling his eyes as the demon turns around and shaking his head.

There will be other opportunities... and it could have gone worse, I suppose... he muses to himself.

He scans the current people in attendance to see if any others stand out of the crowd.

Keiko watches the exchange between Vort and the Demon with genuine curiosity. Not how I would have approached them, but I give him credit for being direct. Keiko mentally face palms when Vort talks about having killed demons before. Ok really not how I would have gone...seems to be ok. The demon is at least not trying kill us. Hey everyone needs a vacation. Likely the politest response we could have hoped for.

Keiko drapes an arm around Vort. "There, there, It's ok. There are plenty more people here to woo. Quite brash of you if I may say. Why don't we enjoy this wonderful view as we depart. I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities to be shot down once we are underway." Keiko giggles slightly at her comment. Keiko will move with Vort back to the others and prepare for their departure.

Ven watches the exchange with a curious smile, taking a sip from her drink. Who would win, I wonder. The human summoner, or the Raksasha. Hmm. She muses to herself amid her drink with a smile. The dragoness feels hardly threatened by the Raksasha's comment regarding safety, and her eyes never leave the demon, even as Keiko wraps her arm around Vort to pull him away from the encounter. Aw, that had such potential to be amusing. She mentally sighs at the end of the encounter and welcomes Vortigern and Keiko back.

"I can't say that wasn't an amusing display, Vortigern. Keep up that projection, and we might have a good deal of fun." She says with a sly smile. Ven will keep an eye on anyone who might've seemed interested in Vortigern's and the Raksasha's exchange, or what Vort said with varied interest. He might well have attracted some attention with that display.

Vortigern gives a brief smile to the Rakshasa before he speaks. "Of course Sir. Perhaps if you or an ally have need in the future you will remember me. Regardless, my best wishes for your holiday." he says, inclining his head slightly before turning back to his own party. As Keiko and Venenifer respond to his impromptu pitch he seems bemused. When he speaks first it is directed towards Keiko. "In most forms of enterprise the number of unsuccessful sales or elsewise attempts to garner business end up being innumerable and ultimately trivial. The point being to continue with them until one finds success, rather than allowing ones self to be dispirited or deterred." he says, though his tone is well humored.

His attention then turns his attention towards Venenifer. He splays his hands in a self deprecating way. "I confess I have seldom been accused of undue humility. If anything I am perhaps ill suited to self promotion but I do like to think I have a certain ... warranted confidence. And as for fun, I shall endeavor to oblige the Lady on that account as often as feasible."

The view here is really something. I don't know what I was expecting... Yet I hadn't thought things to be very impressive compared to Center. Yet this place is fascinating and in many ways much more to my style and preference.

Getting to Atlantis turned out to be easier than you thought it might be. You found someone headed that way that wanted a bodyguard for their trip to Atlantis. Your payment was the free transportation and a tour of the city of Splynn, with a bonus in credits if there was any actual combat involved. Sadly for your pocketbook, it has been a quiet trip so far. Once you arrive in Splynn, your client thanks you for the service, and says he has arranged transportation for you to Skyborne Excursions for your tour of the city. When you arrive, they practically hustle you upstairs and onto a ship, the Line Runner, saying that you are almost late.

Once you are on the rather nicely furnished ship, they pull the gangplank in, and seal up the door behind you. One of the men manning the entryway lets you know that most passengers are down on the Observation Deck, so you head that way as the tour begins. Once you are on the deck, you see a variety of beings, one of whom looks very familiar to you...

Vort, Erebos, Ven, Keiko

As you regroup after Vorts pitch to the rakshasa, you notice more of the crew working than you had before. They are bustling around, and you would guess they are making sure everything is ready for departure. The other clients on the deck seem to be relaxing, although there is not, as yet, much mingling being done. You can hear the low murmur of conversations going on in the room.

A last minute addition to the floor walks in, an ogre, one that looks very familiar to Erebos.

Everyone
You here an interesting piping sound come out of well hidden speakers in the room, and then "Welcome passengers, to the Line Runner. I am Captain Rob, and I will be your pilot and guide for the evening. We are making our final checks before departure, so please, make yourselves comfortable and our tour will begin momentarily."

As the ship begins it's perpetration for departure, Keiko becomes more bubbly with excitement as she continues to sip on her brandy. "Oh this is going to be exciting. Getting to see the city this way is going to be such a treat."

A last minute addition to the floor walks in, an ogre, one that looks very familiar to Erebos.

The Shadow Mage squints and blinks a few times. Is that... really? Is it her? What's she doing here? he thinks, surprised to see his friend in this place.

Unsure if she has seen him yet, the Sunaj stealthily ducks out of the group he's with and approaches her in a roundabout fashion, seeing if she notices his approach.

Skill Roll (special AT ability: Prowl to Vanish, and then approach unnoticed ---> 1d100 = 63/87% 87%

Prowl to Vanish
Prowl to Vanish (special AT ability): The person is able to quietly slip away from a group, provided nobody is directly looking at him when he does so. Nobody will realize he's gone until they turn or look in his direction or turn to address him at the spot where they last saw him and realize he is gone; or a noise or disturbance attracts their attention and they look around. Prowl to vanish is usually done to sneak away to a different location or to a nearby hiding place, or to make good an escape. Roll under the Prowl skill to succeed at quietly sneaking away. Note: The player may want to slip the G.M. a note that his character is attempting a Prowl to Vanish and then roll in front of the G.M., only.

If Érebos is successful in his stealthy approach, he will sneak up to within about 5' and casually mention, as if in passing (in Gobblely), "I haven't seen Ghash-Gijak tribal markings in quite some time..." with a mischievous grin.

If Rana sees him approach (and he notices), he will just shrug and smile. "Well well, look who emerges from the shadows - Rana ColdBlood. Fancy finding you here..." he says in her native tongue, letting the gutteral-sounding words trail off with a curious sound.

Nice armor... he thinks as he eyes the Vampire Hunting armor that the blue-veined Ogress is wearing.

Ven nods in agreement to Vort. "What's that old saying, fortune favors the bold? We can go certainly go mingle after takeoff. There seem to be plenty of potentials." She comments then looks to the skyline as the tour readies to depart. She'll take stock in who she sees around them. She will keep an eye out for anything she identifies as a greater demon or deevil, and will especially be interested if she spots a dragon in disguise. She isn't overly interested in the ogre immediately.

Rana's distaste for Atlantis is palpable - her people are a plains people, and the tall stone buildings here are too close, almost suffocating. She is so disoriented that when the inhabitants put hands to her, ushering her onto the skyboat, she lets the insult pass without redress.

She glowers as she takes the observation deck. The scents of so many beings co-mingling in her nose is disgusting to her, though there is one who smells familiar. She scans the crowd, her hard eyes taking in each face, until she matches owner to scent. One whose blood she's smelled before.

Erebos!

Her cold heart manages to skip a beat at the sight of her old friend, though he seems to disappear in the crowd. She smells his blood still, though. He wears his armor of old. He remains. She scans the crowd for him - though the crowd has some human-sized occupants, there are too many larger peoples for her height to be of any advantage here, and she cannot find the Atlantean.

What game are you at...

Captain Rob wrote:"Welcome passengers, to the Line Runner. I am Captain Rob, and I will be your pilot and guide for the evening. We are making our final checks before departure, so please, make yourselves comfortable and our tour will begin momentarily."

"Pah," she sneers. A pleasure cruise.

In her distraction, she feels a presence close by, but before she can react she hears a familiar voice speaking her native tongue.

Erebos wrote:"I haven't seen Ghash-Gijak tribal markings in quite some time..."

She responds in kind, matching his guttural phrasing and tone. "Akashta*, It is good to see you alive." She turns to face him. "I knew you intended Atlantis... but I did not think to find you so soon. I have just arrived."

"I assumed it would take weeks to find you and yours. You must be slipping." She laughs. "Kraigh torakh mor arakgh nahgz**" She laughs, and claps him smartly on the shoulder.

Will he understand the joke? One such as he is not spotted by enemies unless he wishes it.

"What are you doing on a pleasure cruise? Is there a target?" She scans the crowd anew, finding herself, almost reflexively, checking for signs of the undead among the gathered spectators.

* Akashta - (n) a Gobblely word indicating nightime at camp; dark but safe; antonym of Kagashta - dark and dangerous.

Vortigern gives the ladies, Keiko and Venenifer, a brief smile and nod. "Indeed. I look forward to the tour, and of course the opportunity to mingle more deeply. Even if we don't find a client we could make some other form of useful connection. We should endeavor to get a broad feel for the room." he says as he begins looking around more attentively. His eyes search briefly with a far greater intensity as something else appears to grab his attention, his hands coming to settle on his belt. "Erebos?" he says, turning about until he settles his attention on his friend interacting with Rana. This settles his movements and he indicates the location of Erebos to the ladies with a significant nod and lift of his chin. "I wasn't certain where he'd made off to for a moment. Shall we?"

I shall have to start taking a head count at regular intervals with him about. It wouldn't do to get home and realize I was missing someone here.

"I assumed it would take weeks to find you and yours. You must be slipping." She laughs.

"Indeed, I must be... in actuality, my companion and I just arrived earlier today as well. There were... delays... you understand. I didn't expect to see you here, however..." he says with a grin.

Rana wrote:"Kraigh torakh mor arakgh nahgz**" She laughs, and claps him smartly on the shoulder.

Érebos snorts as the meaning comes through. "Oh, I don't know if they've had the time to hear of my arrival just yet. And, you know, I'm not exactly in the habit of announcing my presence... " he says and leans in to continue in a low voice, "If it wasn't already clear, beings like you and I - especially I - tend to be slave stock in Atlantis, so be careful here. All kidding aside - I know you can handle yourself, and your bravery is of course unquestioned - but Atlantis is a very dangerous place... for anyone other than a Sploog or perhaps a Dragon, but especially so for humans like myself," he says with a special emphasis and wink at the word "humans".

Then, he stands up more straight and goes back to his normal tone, so as not to attract too much undue attention. "Besides," he intones with a glimmer of mischief in his eye, "what is Aktashta to you is quickly Kagashta to others," he says, and a wicked evil grin crosses his face.

Speaking of others.... he thinks while turning around to look for Vort and the ladies. If he sees them looking at him, he will acknowledge them with a nod and raised eyebrow, tilting his head as if to ask them to approach the pair.

Rana wrote:"What are you doing on a pleasure cruise? Is there a target?" She scans the crowd anew, finding herself, almost reflexively, checking for signs of the undead among the gathered spectators.

The Shadow Mage replies, "There's always a target," with a sly smile.

Though, in this case, the target, or mark, remains undetermined as of yet...

Noticing Rana's searching gaze: "Oh, you won't find any of those overgrown mosquitos here, my friend. One thing about the Splugorth - they hate vampires as much as...*ahem*... folks like us," he says, tracking his friends' arrival.

When Sir Vortigern and/or the others approach, the Shadow Mage will introduce them.

He gestures to each one in turn: "Keiko, a felinoid warrior with some peculiar magical aptitudes... Venenifer-" here, he hesitates briefly while pondering what to say - "- a companion of ours who is as strong and dangerous as she is beautiful... and lastly, but certainly not least among us, Sir Vortigern, my close friend, partner, and master of one of the rarest magical disciplines, Circle Magic. He's quite persuasive, but I do expect him to try to persuade you otherwise..." he says, winking at his friend.

He turns back and gestures toward Rana: "And this, friends, is Rana... someone I met in a precarious situation once, and whom proved her mettle and will sufficiently such that she earned a second chance at life... but she can tell that tale," he says somewhat cryptically, unsure of what Rana wants revealed or not.

Turning back and addressing the others: "At any rate, Rana would be an outstanding addition to our proposed venture - and believe me, she's got some rather peculiar talents and characteristics that make her...good to have on our side, let's say."

"We're looking to start up a sort of entrepreneurial business venture here in Atlantis," he explains to Rana after the others say their pieces, and he shows her the blurb he suggested previously to the others.

Elevator Pitch Statement
There are innumerable dimensions and worlds in the Megaverse, all connected via interdimensional doorways and rifts. Most individuals care about security and peace of mind, and don't want unknown things - however that is defined - coming uninvited through these portals. But the cost of maintaining a response team dedicated to troubleshooting and handling these sorts of incursions, or providing safe passage through them, has always been prohibitive - until now.

Hellblazers, Inc has been created as response to fill these needs. We are a group of highly skilled and diverse professionals skilled in dimensional troubleshooting, including investigative, containment, elimination, charting, and delivery services dealing with otherworldly areas frought with potential danger. If you have need of any of these services and want a group you can rely on to get the job done right at an affordable price, we'd love to meet with you.

Keiko looks around at the mention of Erebos wandering off. It's not until Vort points him out that Keiko notices he's in conversation with an Ogre. Hunh. Never took him for that type. Looks like they know each other. Likely in a similar way In which my previous interactions have been with him. He is always one track minded that way. Focused on his goals. Keiko follows Vort over to them.

"Erebos. We are going to have to but a bell on you if you keep wandering off like that." Keiko's tone is bubbly and playful.

Always have to branch out into other things. I'm very good at finding people...and lost things." Her tone still playful, "It's great to meet another friend of Erebos. He has so few. We do worry that he may start making friends with stones in his room. But any way, it's great to meet you Rana. Oh I do hope you'll join us. It will be a lovely time. I mean why else would you ahve run into someone you know. Out of all the places in the mega-verse we all ran into each other here." Keiko will give a big smile and if Rana allows it a hug. Ven glances around as Vortigern mentions Erebos finding someone and blinks. Hmm, he is a slippery one. She thinks to herself and can't help but stifle a laugh at Keiko's comment about a bell. "A bell on a collar would work, may even fit his dark persona." She says in jest, quietly to Keiko, and heads over to meet Rana and Erebos.

Erebos wrote:"Venenifer-- a companion of ours who is as strong and dangerous as she is beautiful"

Ven looks to Erebos with a sly smile and takes a drink. Oh, it is so amusing to listen to them. I wonder what this one would say to finding out about my heritage. Hmm, I wonder if this one enjoys games. She muses to herself while listening to Erebos's loquacious explanation.

"Well, hello, Rana. It's a pleasure to meet a friend of Erebos. You may call me Ven. My nature is not so easily defined, or perhaps it is." She pauses a moment, looking up and furrowing her brow before looking back at the ogre. "I got it! Tell me; If I have a tail but am not a mammal, Scales though not of the ocean, wings but not a bird, my breathe can sometimes hurt and I can hide in plain sight; what would I be?" She says coyly in a lower voice with a sly smile as she takes another sip.

This seems all too implausible a "random" meeting of too many disparate connections. It is enough to make one wonder if there is some other influence at work. Yet that way lies madness. I have set my own feet on my own path. Unless something shows me otherwise.

Vortigern inclines his head to Rana, bemusement crossing his features before he turns his head to listen to the other ladies as they speak. "How, ah, fortunate to have so many friendly faces coming together here today." he says, lingering a moment before seeming to gather his thoughts. "Far be it from me to boast yet as for my oft rumored and nigh legendary powers of persuasion... Well. It helps to be right to start with, yes? It is generally far easier to persuade someone to a position of evident rationality and wisdom. And when all else fails one would be surprised at true bargaining power of a good axe. Depending upon the hand that wields it. So perhaps I can be rather persuasive after all?" he says, mischief in his eyes as he pats the head of the axe hanging from his belt. A moment of pause before he smiles towards Rana and speaks once again. "It sounds as if the lady came in search of us perhaps? It is always flattering to have such earnest interest from a lady."

(Rolls carried over)

Erebos wrote:"Indeed, I must be... in actuality, my companion and I just arrived earlier today as well. There were... delays... you understand. I didn't expect to see you here, however..."

Rana cocks her head to one side. "You told me you hoped to kill many undead when we parted. I took you at your word, and here I am."

Erebos wrote:"What is Aktashta to you is quickly Kagashta to others,"

Rana laughs. "This is truth... Kagashta."

As Erebos introduces his companions, Rana nods in greeting to each. When he comes to Vortigern, a smile passes her lips. "You too?"

Keiko wrote:"Erebos. We are going to have to but a bell on you if you keep wandering off like that."

Venenifer wrote:"A bell on a collar would work, may even fit his dark persona."

Rana laughs. "You cannot bell the night."

Keiko wrote:"It's great to meet another friend of Erebos. He has so few. We do worry that he may start making friends with stones in his room. But any way, it's great to meet you Rana. Oh I do hope you'll join us. It will be a lovely time. I mean why else would you have run into someone you know. Out of all the places in the mega-verse we all ran into each other here."

Rana starts to speak when Keiko moves in for a hug. At first, she steps back, but she draws no weapon, and, just as quickly, steps into the hug - a warrior's embrace, powerful, brisk, and brief. Keiko will feel that Rana carries no bodily heat - what might be a warm embrace with anyone else is as hugging a corpse might be. The ogress smells of lavendar and dirt.

Keiko wrote:"Second chance on life...sounds like quite the tale. I'm sure well have plenty of time to gossip on this trip."

She cuts her eyes to Erebos. Shall they all know? She wonders. Looking back to the felinoid, she says "I will give the story in time. When there are fewer ears to listen. The... wounds yet bleed."

Looking uncomfortable, she turns to Venenifer.

Venenifer wrote:"Well, hello, Rana. It's a pleasure to meet a friend of Erebos. You may call me Ven. My nature is not so easily defined, or perhaps it is... I got it! Tell me; If I have a tail but am not a mammal, Scales though not of the ocean, wings but not a bird, my breath can sometimes hurt and I can hide in plain sight; what would I be?"

Rana pauses for a moment. "One who riddles... obviously." Tail, but no mammal? Plenty of things have tails: Birds, lizards, fish. Or does she mean tale? Scales but not of ocean, so... lizard. Or scales as one who measures things? Wings but not bird? A bat? A... lizard bat? Breath can hurt? Are you the wind my friend? Are you the storm? Wait... A storm made flesh. She cuts her eyes back up to Venenifer's, a look of recognition in her eyes. Dragon.

Were Rana warm as she once was in life, perhaps she would feel a chill at the realization. She does not reveal the answer aloud. She turns to Vortigern. He, too, is here. I should have known these two would meet. That these two, in all of the planes, would find camaraderie. She nods to the nobleman.

Vortigern wrote:"How, ah, fortunate to have so many friendly faces coming together here today."

"Khazhtak*," she greets him.

Vortigern wrote:"How, ah, fortunate to have so many friendly faces coming together here today. Far be it from me to boast yet as for my oft rumored and nigh legendary powers of persuasion... Well. It helps to be right to start with, yes? It is generally far easier to persuade someone to a position of evident rationality and wisdom. And when all else fails one would be surprised at true bargaining power of a good axe. Depending upon the hand that wields it. So perhaps I can be rather persuasive after all?"

Rana laughs. "Your language is buttery, friend, as always. but I did hear a word I respect... 'axe'."

Vortigern wrote:"It sounds as if the lady came in search of us perhaps? It is always flattering to have such earnest interest from a lady."

Rana snorts. "Peh.... 'lady'. Your insults still cut quick." She looks to Erebos and back to Vortigern. "Kagashta mentioned he was coming to Atlantis to meet a friend - I assume he meant you - and to kill many." She turns to Erebos. "Is that not true?"

Erebos wrote:"We're looking to start up a sort of entrepreneurial business venture here in Atlantis,"

Rana listens patiently to Erebos' recitation of the Hellblazers elevator pitch... appearing to lose interest midway through. She continues to listen through the end.

She nods. "Yes. This must be the thing you spoke of... though now you call it 'Hellblazers'. I shall come with you to Hell, then, and kill many before I meet my family again in death."

She looks around at those gathered. The Atlantean, the felinoid, the dragon, and the human. Seeing beyond their forms, she sees the shadow, the sorceror, the storm, and the summoner. I shall be the Ogre. I shall be the stake.

Skyborne Excursions, Splynn
Friday, June 9th, 1305

As you talk among yourselves, the other passengers seem to relax slightly, as the ship slowly lifts away from the dock. As it climbs in elevation, you are treated to a magnificent view of the city of Splynn. The Imperial Pyramid dominates the view, but you can see the well spaced streets of the majority of the city with ease. It isn't difficult to pick out the Dimensional Market, as it is the only crowded area in the city. As the ship stops climbing for altitude, the other passengers spread out a bit, moving around the deck to take in the view of the city from on high.

"As you can see below, the city of Splynn was designed from the beginning to be an interdimensional marketplace. It currently has a permanent population of about 8 million free beings. That only counts residents, the visiting population can double or even triple the population with ease." The voice over the speakers is pleasant to listen to, with a good natural rhythm and cadence to his words. He begins to go on with more information about the city of Splynn, and its construction as the ship begins to move across the city.

Keiko gives a warm smile back to Rana when she releases the embrace. Interesting. She is cold. Like something that is not alive. Yet she is definitely alive. Very interesting.

Rana wrote:She cuts her eyes to Erebos. Shall they all know? She wonders. Looking back to the felinoid, she says "I will give the story in time. When there are fewer ears to listen. The... wounds yet bleed."

Keiko gives a knowing nod of the head. "I'm sure our discussion will become more lively when there are less ears around."

Keiko becomes more energetic as the view of the city from the air becomes ever increasingly spectacular. Wow. Such beauty in the city. I can't wait to actually get some work. With the friends we have gathered we will take on the multiverse and nothing will stop us. Then they will help me find what I am looking for.

Perception: 1d100 = 46/59%
See perception modifiers here
+10% in darkness or shadow, and +5% when pertaining to hiding, escape, Shadow Magic, Shadow beings, vampires and the undead (recognizing clues to their presence, servants, victims, etc.).
+15% to recognize the arcane.
-10% to perception rolls while directly in bright artificial light (>300 watts) or sunlight.
Perception has a base skill rating of 15%, adding 3% per level each additional level of experience beyond first level.
Perception does not replace the Detect Concealment or Detect Ambush skills, nor does it replace Read Sensory Equipment or Optics Systems for use with technological sensors to perceive.
Like Detect Ambush, Detect Concealment, and other skills, Perception is an opposed skill check.
As with all % skill checks, a natural roll of 96-00 is a critical fail and a natural roll of 01-05 is a critical success.

JIC (20): 1d20 = 16

Vortigern wrote:"How, ah, fortunate to have so many friendly faces coming together here today." he says, lingering a moment before seeming to gather his thoughts.

"Fortuitous indeed, Sir Vortigern. Almost too coincidental, one might think..." says the paranoid Sunaj with a hint of irony.

Perhaps things are just finally coming together as they should, Érebos... he thinks, pushing away the paranoia - for the time being.

Vortigern wrote:"...And when all else fails one would be surprised at true bargaining power of a good axe. Depending upon the hand that wields it. So perhaps I can be rather persuasive after all?"

At this, Érebos actually laughs - a somewhat subdued laugh... more like a chuckle... but a laugh nonetheless. (ooc: this actually did make me laugh out loud when I read it)

As clever as ever, my friend.

Vortigern wrote:"It sounds as if the lady came in search of us perhaps? It is always flattering to have such earnest interest from a lady."

Érebos winces slightly when he hears Sir Vortigern refer to Rana as a lady, knowing as he does her distaste for the term. Still, it is in Sir Vortigern's nature to say such things... perhaps she will take it as he meant - a compliment.

Rana wrote:Rana cocks her head to one side. "You told me you hoped to kill many undead when we parted. I took you at your word, and here I am."

"Indeed I did, Rana Coldblood.. indeed, I did. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised - your honor, and your courage, are two things that brought us together in the first place. And now, to this point. Regarding the many undead - in due time, I have no doubt that the accursed vampires will taste fear at the ends of our blades and sorcery. But first, we must needs to acquire clients that might give us the opportunities we seek to cleanse the Megaverse of these wretched bloodsuckers. That's one reason we have decided to embark upon this venture."

Rana wrote:When he comes to Vortigern, a smile passes her lips. "You too?"

The smile and comment are not unnoticed by the perceptive Shadow Mage.

"It seems you two have met already?" he asks, almost rhetorically - knowing that there are equal chances he may or may not learn how that occurred. "Small world..." he says ironically.

Rana wrote:

Érebos starts to step in to stop the hug, but quickly relaxes as he sees Rana understand the intent. Careful, Keiko... not everyone is so warm-hearted and up front. That could have been a hard lesson to learn he thinks to himself, but is rather relieved that the embrace turned out pleasantly.

Rana wrote:She cuts her eyes to Erebos. Shall they all know? She wonders. Looking back to the felinoid, she says "I will give the story in time. When there are fewer ears to listen. The... wounds yet bleed."

The wounds keep you sharp and give you your edge... an edge we need he thinks.
Rana wrote:"Khazhtak*," she greets him.

The Shadow Mage grins. Appropriate he thinks as he hears the word in the language he has learned.

Rana wrote:She looks to Erebos and back to Vortigern. "Kagashta mentioned he was coming to Atlantis to meet a friend - I assume he meant you - and to kill many." She turns to Erebos. "Is that not true?"

"Kill many friends? No..." says the Shadow Mage with a feigned straight face, before winking. "Yes, it's true. Our venture should provide plenty of opportunity to... shall we say, flex our collective muscle and rid the Megaverse of the scourges that plague it," says Érebos, consciously choosing words that he knows will pique Rana's interest in the proposed venture.

Rana wrote:Rana listens patiently to Erebos' recitation of the Hellblazers elevator pitch... appearing to lose interest midway through. She continues to listen through the end.

She nods. "Yes. This must be the thing you spoke of... though now you call it 'Hellblazers'. I shall come with you to Hell, then, and kill many before I meet my family again in death."

"Lok'tar*!" says the Sunaj in a gruff voice as he clasps the Ogress on the shoulder sincerely.

A rather high quality tour, I must admit... he thinks as he eyes over Atlantis.

It hasn't changed much since I was last here... then again, it wasn't that long ago... he thinks to himself as he eyes the main highlights of the city.

Keiko wrote:Keiko gives a knowing nod of the head. "I'm sure our discussion will become more lively when there are less ears around."

"It almost always is..." quips the Shadow Mage with a wink.

Especially with this crew... he thinks as he eyes the group of five.

As the tour progresses, Érebos takes in the sights, but pays particular attention to the Splynn Dimensional Market, and the Slave Pens. Of course, from this altitude, he can't see things in high detail, but it gets him thinking.

I wonder just how much one could disrupt the Splugorth slave trade if one were so inclined... he muses... and the beginnings of a longer term possibility start to take root in his mind.

He turns to the ladies (plus Rana): "Sir Vortigern and I were considering spending some time in the Dimensional Marketplace. We have some... acquisitions calling our name... would you three care to join us?" he says.

If the ladies (+Rana) agree, Érebos will say a few words of caution in a low voice, leaning in so they can hear him. "Be aware, beings like us have limited rights here. The slave market pens always have more room for... our types... or at least, those who appear to be our types," he says as he gives Venenifer a knowing glance. "Let's stay together, keep our cool, and try not to... -" - here, he pauses as he searches for the right phrasing - "- become slaves," he says finally. He follows that up with, "There is much opportunity here, however, for those who know how to carefully navigate the dangers of Splynn."

Skill Roll | Lore: Culture & Customs (Atlantis and the Splugorth) (think of useful advice to give pertaining to "staying out of trouble in the Splynn Dimensional Marketplace, and Splynn in general, as a human-ish or humanoid")--> 1d20 = 6/47%

Keiko lowers her voice slightly, "I am aware what we are used for. Our skills alone would fetch a nice price. But that is for later to worry about. Let's enjoy this tour. I have a felling relaxation will be in short supply when work begins coming our way."

Keiko will enjoy the view. Once the ship has cleared the area and the passengers begin to mingle Keiko will whiper to Ven, "Say something in a different language." When Ven complies Keiko will reply, "Sorry I didn't catch that. Just a moment." Keiko will cast Tongues (-12 PPE) on herself. "That's better." Once Ven has finished Keiko will keep her ear out for potential clients. Casually listening in on conversation while walking through the crowd. If she picks up on any conversations of note, she will make her way back to everyone and relay what she heard to Vort and the group.

Ven smiles knowingly towards Rana as she connects the dots in her head. When she can see the white in the cold blooded ogre's eyes, she gives a slight nod of confirmation, though she too doesn't confirm anything aloud as she begins gazing upon the crowd as the loudspeaker chimes.

Harmonic Loudspeaker wrote:"As you can see below, the city of Splynn was designed from the beginning to be an interdimensional marketplace. It currently has a permanent population of about 8 million free beings. That only counts residents, the visiting population can double or even triple the population with ease."

Listening to the loudspeaker like a comfortable flute, she takes in the scene. Ven's eyes trace the crowd around her, her eyes seeming to longingly gaze but for what, they can only wonder. A group of stoneskins, a couple lords or mages, their attendees and some fodder. She muses, her eyes tracing the gargoyle group before resting on the demon group with more interest. A fire devil, two-legged bull and an elemental trickster; interesting group to be sure, likely here for food or slaves. She thinks, her lips curling into a smile. Her smile fades into disdain when she spots the Deevil Dragon and its entourage. And a pathetic pet of Dvyal, selling their own eggs to stay in their masters favor. She chastises the sight before slightly cocking her head. And a false dragon to boot.

Sly Fox Keiko wrote: "I'm sure our discussion will become more lively when there are less ears around."

Ven nods towards her friend. "I agree, now is not the time for our own stories to pass our lips, but there are certainly stories from those around us should you look." Ven's voice lowers as she points out the many different groups on the floor with them.

As Erebos relays some of the culture of Atlantis, Ven's lips curl into a sly smile at the sight of slight apprehension. "Indeed, though what a mistake it would be for them to judge a book by its cover." She says coyly before adding quietly. "We definitely are among the smaller group here." She says, nodding towards the gargoyles and the demon groups. "They may well be looking for food or slaves in these parts, but not on this ship."

As Keiko whispers behind her Ven seems to smile and almost perk her eyebrows as she changes her language to dragonese, ignoring Keiko's comment and speaking plainly in the other language. "Of course, they might find a book is wider than its covers." She says in dragonese as she rolls her shoulders, imagining spreading her wings.

She'll keep back and observe, more for watching her truly mortal allies among this truly immortal pen of fiends.

Rana surveys the city with unease - she's not used to being in a slow-moving flying vehicle, and feels like a target up here. As the tourguide spouts demographic info, she idly wonders how many are undead. Best not to ask in a place like this.

Keiko wrote:"I'm sure our discussion will become more lively when there are less ears around."

Rana nods. "I will reveal it. My war party need to know if... I have weaknesses that can be exploited. I will expect the same consideration from my war party."

Rana considers this for a moment. Her bloodthirst for the slaughter of undead cannot take sway over the needs of the living. She nods. "So it shall be."

Friday, June 9th, 1310

As the airship makes its way across the sky of Splynn, the guide goes on about the history of Splynn, and it's Dimensional Market. A well dressed man walks up to Vortigern, and Asks in a courteous voice "Are you Sir Vortigern, of the Western Empire?" When Vort nods his head yes, the man smile "We have a message for you, if you would please follow me, we can take you someplace you can cover it in some privacy" Vort nods his assent and looks at the rest of the group, "Let me go see what this is, I have a feeling it deals with home. I'll rejoin you shortly once it is dealt with" And with that Vort follows the man out of the room.

Keiko
As you wander through the crowd, you notice the conversations are fairly mundane and touristy. Some of the travelers seem to have been to the city before, and are telling their companions of places they will be headed, or places to avoid. The conversation going on among the giants sounds particularly interesting if you are looking for drinking establishments. The conversation from the odd and ugly humanoid dragon and their companions is confusing to you, you can understand the words, but it seems to be in code, as none of it makes sense to you. The same for the group of three very odd looking beings, they seem to be conversing in code. The giant winged humanoids seem to be discussing eating establishments, along with weapons and armor companies.

Everyone Else
You are enjoying your conversation, and the sights of the city certainly are magnificent when viewed from this angle. For those of you used to cities, this one is certainly different. Wide avenues of transport, plenty of flying beings and vehicles, the whole city has a very clean and cosmopolitan look and feel to it. It doesn't seem to have the cramped, crowded, and dirty look that many cities have.

Tour Information
Rather than regurgitating what the books have to say on the place, the tour guide covers the basic information on pages 36-37 of World Book 2, and pages 8-10 and 42-45 (the stuff about the Imperial Palace, and the Bio Wizard center, not the other stuff) of World Book 21.

Ven takes in the crowd but is uninterested at the moment as her mind thinks on how their newly formed coalition will make things work. Suddenly, her eyes widen in realization that she knows someone who can help them. Kianra'Dea! Of course! She's a proficient and well-versed atlantean like Erebos. A Voyager, if I recall correctly. She was adept at operating dimensional magics.. among other things.

Ven will find a moment to pull Erebos and the others to the side. "Thought to consider, I know a proficient Aerihman Atlantean Voyager who would be more than willing to join our motley if I requested her to do so. She's quiet adept at handling dimensional magics, and her skills are only improving. Her name is Kianra'Dea, and I can get a message to her." Ven will suggest.

OOC: As per discussion, Erebos and Rana both may remember the name as a Voyager that carried them during a strike some years back. Keiko also may recognize her as Venenifer met her in recent years after she knew Keiko.

The Shadow Mage inclines his head to nod at Sir Vortigern and thinks little of it.

Hope he won't be too long...

The True Atlantean listens to Venenifer closely, and his eyebrows shoot up when he hears the name. "Ahh, Kianra ... yes, I've worked with her before, and agree with your assessment. Some dimensional backup for our Circle Mage would be useful indeed. I myself have felt the lure of the dimensional arts..." he drifts off and muses for a moment.

Perhaps I should look into that while in the marketplace... a little nosing around wouldn't hurt...

"What's she up to these days?" wonders the Shadow Mage out loud to Venenifer.

We sure do seem to be affected by the twists and turns of fate this day...

Keiko, mildly disapointed she wasn't able to get an good gosip, heads back to the rest of the group. Well, bunch of boring beings on this trip. Everyone wants to relax or not be disturbed. Still, smart on them for using code to speak. On her way back to the group Keiko listens to the code being spoken. She will access the information later in an attempt to crack the code. Later when they are all away from here.

The tour has been very enlightening and educational. Even though the majority of the tour so far has focused on the Dimensional Market, it still covers enough of the rest of the city that you begin to get a good feeling for the place. The first few stops were to various businesses specializing in slaves, with some time for the folks on tour to get some bidding in. This starts at the Stables, the slave pens owned personally by Lord Splynncryth, where you get to spend an hour seeing firsthand how the majority of the slaving business happens in Splynn. Afterwards there are stops at 3 other slave pens, although these were more specialized in nature than the Stables.

Afterwards, the ship heads towards a rather well to do looking part of the Marketplace, "Passengers, our next stop is a wonderful place. They specialize in a substance found almost everywhere, and in all it's many useful forms. The Water Merchant deals in water of all kinds. Blessed waters, cursed waters, enchanted waters of all kinds. For those that are of a business oriented type, he also deals in rare waters so he can add to his collection. Lets get closer and take a look." With that, the ship begins to hover next to a building, and you can see where the gangplank reaches out to it. Several of the demons and deevils make their way out of the room and presumably head to disembark to examine the Water Merchants wares.

The Shadow Mage nods in acknowledgement of both Keiko's and Rana's words.

"Bajrak... an apt description, my friends. It sounds as if we are in agreement that Kianra would be a valuable addition to our venture. I suggest we avail ourselves of the opportunity to seek her out with haste at our first convenience, then."

Where IS Sir Vortigern? he begins to wonder.

At this point, Érebos is beyond the stage of curiosity about Vortigern's absence, and is now considerably concerned.

"I'm going to check on Sir Vortigern. It is uncharacteristic of him to disappear for so long like this without so much as a peep," he says, frowning. He looks at the three women in front of him, calculating. "Rana, if you'd join me... your nose could prove helpful, as you're familiar with his scent."
(OOC: Keiko could probably assist as well, but as she's exiting the group, let's go with Rana - this also gives both Keiko and Ven a chance/excuse to "disappear" if they so wish, as Rana and Érebos will be separated from them)

Presuming Rana assents to join him: "Ladies- if you'll excuse us," he intones politely to the Dragonness and the Felinoid. and goes to seek out the Summoner.

"Unless you've already picked up Sir Vortigern's scent, I suggest we first seek the well-dressed man who informed Vort of the message which took him away from the group," he says to Rana (in Gobblely, in case others are listening) as they swiftly move through the guests and proceed in the direction where Sir Vortigern was seen exiting the group.

This is unlike him... he thinks to himself. His hasty exit from the Galactic Rogues was, at least, preceded by an announcement that he had to leave... but this time, he said he'd rejoin us shortly once he dealt with whatever the matter was...

Keiko wrote:"I have to go. I might have a lead on something personal. I wont be long just need to meet someone. I'll make sure to come back to you guys if it leads somewhere." Keiko gives each one a hug as she leaves. "You stay safe too Ven."

Keiko whispers to Erebos as she hugs him. "Don't let them become someone's property. Yourself included." With that Keiko merges with the crowd and disappears from sight.

The Shadow Mage pauses before letting Keiko go. "Stay safe, Keiko. I have a strange feeling about all of these coincidences," he tells her, his eyes conveying concern.

She can take care of herself, Erebos. You know that.

WIth that, he releases her, inclines his head, and goes with Rana and Ven to find Sir Vortigern - if he can be found.

Rana wrote:If this fails, she will ask Eerebos, "Have you anything of his?" If anything is produced, she will apply Object Reading to it, to try to glean his current location (-6 I.S.P. if any item is produced)

Present 38% Invalid dice code! (to try to discern Vortigern's present location - SUCCESS)

"Unfortunately, I do not. I'm positive there are some of his personal items back at our future headquarters, however. Perhaps if we don't find him before our departure, we can check there upon our return," he says to Rana.

Rana wrote:If she is unable to find Vortigern, she looks at Erebos and shakes her head. Our Khazhtak cannot be found."

Frowning, Érebos continues looking for the well-dressed man whom had delivered the urgent message to Sir Vortigern earlier.

He's got to be around here somewhere... he thinks.

Then, a sudden realization: Unless... that wasn't his true form to begin with... he muses, remembering that they had just dealt with a Rakshasa shape-shifting demon.

The paranoid Sunaj's eyes narrow, and he looks more suspiciously at everyone he encounters. Almost all are suspect now. As dangerous as he knows Atlantis to be, it has become even moreso with the unseemly tardiness of his impeccably polite friend.

Rana and Erebos

Keiko makes her fair wells and vanishes into the crowd leaving the ship for the water market. Erebos is sad to lose her tracking skills at this point when they are looking for Vortagan, but he knows it can’t be helped. Erebos, Rana, and Ven all move smoothly through the remaining crowd on the ship in search of their friend. The multitude of different beings on the ship make finding a human easy...It’s just always a slave. Despite your best efforts neither of you are able to find any sign of Vortagan or the man he left with on the ship. While Erebos’ mind goes to the worst case scenario, Erebos remembers this is not the first time Vort has not returned like this. The possibility exists that he traveled back to the HQ.

Having seen a good portion of the city by now, the trio exit the tour early and begin to head back to the HQ. On the way back Erebos picks up a few spells he was looking for, using the money Vort had set aside earlier. As the trio return to the HQ they see a heavily augmented Kydian waiting for them at the door. Erebos recognizes it as Power Lord Jarnax.

Power Lord Jarnax fixes the group with a harsh stare, ”If it were up to me I would let this venture fold. Lucky for you it is not up to me. I see the disrespectful one is gone. Did he become someone's lunch? I also see you found new friends as well. Let's hope they remember their place better than Vortagan did. You will find your new associates inside. Shall we see which of the slaves-to-be want to kill each other?” No one is sure if that was a joke or not. Powerlord Jarnax opens the door and leads the trio into the HQ.

Jack

Powerlord Jarnax summons Jack to him. ”Boy. Your service has been adequate. I have an assignment for you. You will be working with your own kind for a while. You will be a mechanic for a new mercenary group. They are important. Do as they say, but always remember what transpires. You will keep me informed of everything that happens.” Powerlord Jarnax is not one for speeches and these are the most words Jack has heard from him at one time. Powerlord Jarnax has the mechanic move his belongings to a new building. One with High ceilings and large columns. The inside is still relatively barren and lightly furnished. ”Wait here.” Powerlord Jarnax commands. It does not take long, perhaps an hour, for Powerlord Jarnax to return three others in tow. One is a juicer of some kind, one is a massive troll, the other is a tall human female covered in tattoos.

Kianra

With her self imposed exile still fresh Kianra makes for the last place anyone would look for her...Atlantis. Here in the heart of the enemy she may be able to form the networks that may one day be the downfall of the Splugorth. As Kianra walks among the denizens of Atlantis she realizes one painfully obvious thing...She sticks out. Not because oh what or who she is, but because she is not saddled with a master. All others like her are seen as slaves or menial workers for the pleasure of the current occupiers of Atlantis. As her blood begins to boil she runs smack into a large heavily augmented Kydian. ”Watch where you walk, slave.” The Kydian looks her up and down for a moment. ”You are no slave are you...No your will has not been broken. At least not by anything here.” You see the Kydian ponder something for a moment. ”To pay for your transgression I have an endeavor that is greatly in need of assistance. You will provide this group with your full support.” He leans down and whispers, ”Do come along, your other option would be a slave collar.” Kianra see’s the Kydian grab two other beings and wave her along with him. One is a massive Troll, the other appears to be a Human Juicer. The Kydian leads her to a large cathedral like building with massively tall and wide pillar work and ancient Atlantean design features. ”Enter and wait with my other minion.” Kianra, not really having any choice at this point, follows them inside. She sees a smaller human with an unstable look in his eyes and grease on his jacket.

Coldcenter and Skulls

Both of you are living your normal day. Cold you are slumming off the good nature of people as they learn about who you are and what you’ve accomplished. Skulls you are having another day in the slave pens of Atlantis. Skulls is approached by the slave master, ”Skulls you're going to work today. Don’t try to eat this one. You won’t win this one. Now move.” The slaver charges a plasma whip to emphasize his point. Skulls moves to the end of the pen and is let out to an awaiting Kydian. ”You skulls. You will serve me and you may get your freedom. You address me as Powerlord Jarnax. Now follow. Your gear is over here.” Powerlord Jarnax allows Skulls to retrieve his gear before walking out with Skulls in tow. Skulls has done this kind of work before. Usually it is a temporary thing, but Skulls has a different feeling this time. Something is different, but in a good way. There may be change on the wind for Skulls.

Coldcenter is enjoying freeloading at another bar when his light is blocked by two massive figures. A ridiculously massive troll and his master a Heavily Augmented Kydian stop near his table. Before any witty quips are uttered the Kydian speaks. ”Coldcenter. I have a job for you. You skills will be useful. Should you refuse you will be sent back to the arena where you will not escape from. You will address me as Powerlord Jarnax.” Coldcenter is slightly surprised by the threat, but feels the Kydian could likely back up his threat. Coldcenter, not having much choice, follows Powerlord Jarnax and the massive troll.

In the middle of thor trip a tall female human runs into Powerlord Jarnax and after some threatening she too follows them. They all arrive at a large structure of sound atlantean design. ”Enter and wait with my other minion.” Powerlord Jarnax commands. The two see a smaller human with an unstable look in his eyes and grease on his jacket.

Everyone

Powerlord Jarnax enters the HQ with Erebos, Rana, and Ven in tow. The three immediately recognize Kianra among the four beings standing in the middle of the large open area in the HQ. They also see a small human, a human Juicer, and a ridiculously large troll.
Powerlord Jarnax breaks the silence. ”Erebos, since My master wants this endeavor to succeed, I made arrangements for these people to fill out your team. These, with the other two you found, will serve the master’s goals well. And will keep you alive long enough for you to fail hard enough that I can shut this farce down. Enjoy.” Powerlord Jarnax turns and leaves a very awkward silence hanging in the air between the people.

--The four new players can RP about ten minutes between Powerlord Jarnax leaving and then returning with Erebos, Rana, and Ven.

Perception: 1d100 = 23/59%

JIC (100): 1d100 = 74
JIC (20): 1d20 = 18

Conditions (at the end of this post; time format= minutes:seconds): None

Érebos remembers he and Sir Vortigern's first encounter with Jarnax; while he felt he handled himself well, Sir Vortigern had left a rather poor impression of them with the Powerlord. WIth some bootlicking, some luck, and some skill, however, it would be nothing they couldn't overcome.

Skill Roll = Lore: Culture & Customs, Atlantis and the Splugorth (attempt to ingratiate himself with Powerlord Jarnax) --> 1d100 = 27 /47% SUCCESS
Invoke Trust (attempt to gain Jarnax's trust and confidence): 1d100 = 3/65% CRITICAL success

"Ahh, Powerlord Jarnax - I did not expect to see you again so soon. I trust you'll forgive my lack of prepration for your visit? Yes, we seem to have lost Sir Vortigern at the moment; however, I stand in his stead - and I know the respect that a deserving Powerlord is accustomed to, Powerlord Jarnax," says the Shadow Mage, stroking the Splugorth Minion's ego a bit to placate the being, suppressing the queasy feeling he gets inside while doing so.

Don't go too heavy on the bootlicking, Érebos... he thinks to himself.

Érebos' jaw nearly drops when he sees the woman the group was just discussing not even a half day prior, but his training kicks in and he maintains a straight face - even his eyes are dark green steel, revealing nothing. On the inside, he feels a mix of wonder (at the strange goings-on and coincidences in the wondrous city of Altantis in under the span of a single day), relief (at seeing Kianra, another Aerihman with whom he is familiar, and fond of), and some trepidation (how did she end up under Jarnax's control, is she in trouble, who are these others, etc.).

He gives the briefest nod of recognition to Kianra and to Irish, Coldcenter, and Skulls. A motley crew, to say the least... he thinks to himself as he looks over the others. Kianra, of course, will be very helpful and a valuable asset... the one who looks to be a mechanic of some sort may be useful, as we are lacking in that area... not sure on the juicer, they can be unreliable... and a... what is that? he thinks to himself, unsure of what Skulls' species is (ooc: Trolls are incredibly rare on Rifts Earth; only a hundred or so across the entire planet - and Erebos doesn't have Lore: Dbee).

The Apothecary wrote:Powerlord Jarnax breaks the silence. ”Erebos, since My master wants this endeavor to succeed, I made arrangements for these people to fill out your team. The Shadow Mage clears his throat. "Yes. Well, now that our Splugorth ray of sunshine has left the building..." he quips, breaking the ice a bit.

His eyes land on Kianra, and he quickly moves to embrace the Tattooed Voyager. "It is good to see you again, Kianra... had I not known any better, I might suspect that fate conspires to join us all together this day," he says, a broad and warm smile on his face as he recognizes his clan mate and acknowledges their past working relationship. "I believe you and Ven have already met... Keiko was just with us not long ago as well, but she had to take care of some things. Maybe she'll be along later," he says.

Then, turning to Irish: "Well then. You look like one with some mechanical aptitude. What's your story?" he asks the scarred slave.

He turns to Coldcenter: "Juicer, hmm? Look like you've seen a scuffle or two in your day," he says to the tanned man, eyeing his collar, armor, and weaponry. "How long have you been juiced?" he says, trying to break the ice and learn more about this mysterious stranger.

Finally, last but not least, the Shadow Mage addresses Skulls: "Hello... I don't believe I'm familiar with your kind..." he says slowly, in Dragonese, surmising the creature is used to being addressed in the Splugorth language, but unsure if Skulls even speaks at all, much less if he speaks a language they can converse in. The Shadow Mage looks to Rana to see if she has any idea what Skulls is. Skulls looks to be around the same size as the larger of Rana's species, so...maybe there's some sort of similarity? Maybe not?

Half listening to what the group discusses, the wheels are still turning in Érebos' head.

Jarnax said Sir Vortigern is not here... I wonder if he even returned?

His curiosity gets the better of him, and he politely excuses himself. "Would you excuse me for a moment, please... feel free to talk amongst yourselves. I apologize that there aren't any refreshments at the moment; we're dreadfully unprepared for visitors and just got the place today. I'll be right back and then I'd be happy to show you around. Rana, if you'd come with me please," he says to the others, as he quickly makes his way down to the second level (OOC: Sublevel 1, the 20x30 room is where Vort put his gear) where he goes directly to where he last saw Sir Vortigern.

On the way, he quickly briefly gives Rana the rundown: they just moved into the place earlier that very morning, dropped off gear, discussed marketplace purchases, and availed themselves of the tour where they ran into Rana, Ven, and Keiko. Vort's room, and his gear should be right here...

(ooc: is the door to the room Sir Vortigern claimed still inscribed with a magic circle? Is it closed? If so, Erebos will chance a knock, and then, if no one replies, will chance opening it to see if any of Vort's gear is there. He will also check his own room and gear to be sure it is still present)

Jack says before busying himself moving his meager belongings to the new location. When Powerlord Jarnax commands him to wait, he does. When his master brings the other in, Jack risks a quick look at each of them, his deranged mind already calculating it's immoral mathematics.

After Powerlord Jarnax leaves for the second time, Jack looks up at the trio. The man is a mess of tattoos and scars, a jumpsuit is worn like pants, with the arms tied around his waist. Irish stands near several cases, likely his belongings.

[Dragonese/Elvish]"Hello, I'm Jack, most folk call me Irish." Jack says, his Irish brogue very noticeable. [Dragonese/Elvish]"And who might you all be, eh?" Irish says punctuating it with a click of his tongue.

[Dragonese/Elvish]Oh, my story boyo, not much to be said. I've been told to work with you and that's about it." Irish says, casually while shuffling his feet. [Dragonese/Elvish]"Not much of a place you got here. I think it lacks on certain bare necessities." Irish says gesturing to the sparsely furnished main hall. [Dragonese/Elvish]"Also, where would you like me to put me things, I doubt the middle of the room is such a place." Irish says as he begins picking up his things, leaving the heavy tool chest alone for the moment.

Perception: 1d100 = 47/45%
JIC: 1d100 = 52/1d20 = 14

Taking orders from a Splugorth again has Coldcenter feeling ill in his stomach, but he know right now is not the time to start trouble. He jesters to the lady to go first and then follows her. Laying eyes on the human waiting in the room he already knows that look. Yep he is a slave. He has the look of one that has been broken. Poor guy.

As it seems like they are going to be here for awhile Coldcenter puts his helmet and rifle on the ground. He then unsligs the the other rifle and takes off the backpack and places them with the other two items. Just then the other fellow speaks up. "Good to meet you Jack. I'm Michael or sometimes Coldcenter. What ever is easiest to remember." He turns to the woman and introduces himself. "So what is your name?" After learning it he tries to bring up the mood. "So that powerlord was a bit of dick, not like any of them aren't. That sucks the way you got pushed into this little group." From there he turns to the thing next to them. "So what about you big guuuyy?" He asks with a questioning look on his face. Not sure if it is male or female.

The next time Jarnax walks into the room Coldcenter will watch Jack to see how responds to him to see if he was right about him being broken. As Jarnax starts to speak all he can do is think about how he would kill him in the arena. What would be my finishing blow on this one? I know, I would have him down on his knees and then thrust me sword through his neck. Oh the sound from the crowd would be glorious. Complete and utter silence. What joy it would be to drink it all in. The shock to see another one of their best ended by the blade of a human. Created by the science of humans.

Érebos wrote:He turns to Coldcenter: "Juicer, hmm? Look like you've seen a scuffle or two in your day," he says to the tanned man, eyeing his collar, armor, and weaponry. "How long have you been juiced?" he says, trying to break the ice and learn more about this mysterious stranger.

"I have seen my share of action, but only in the arena. I was made for it figuratively and literally. It has been 2 years now since I was turned into a Mega-Juicer." Coldcenter makes sure to let this man who seems to be in charge know that he is no ordinary juicer. If sir doughbag the powertrippin' Jarnax dislikes this guy, I'm sure we will get along fine.

After all the introductions are done he will pick up his stuff and head over to were he is told he can place his stuff. He will change out of the armor and put on a t-shirt, pants and boots and head back to the main room. If Jack is there he will offer to help move his tools to where they need to go. From there he will locate Erebos to find out what this little band is all about.
4 out of the 5 voices in my head say go for it!

Powerlord Jarnax commands. The two see a smaller human with an unstable look in his eyes and grease on his jacket.

Being out of the pens and reunited with his gear Skulls is eager to please.
Once Powerlord Jarnax leaves, Skulls scans the large stone room. He accesses his companions with a slow gaze. Humans? The female looks a little big. Don't lurk, it bothers humans. Why did this slave master give me my gear? I have cigarettes. The troll opens a pouch on the strap of his pack. He pulls forth a slightly dented pack of cigarettes. With practiced skill he lights one up, the cigarette tiny in his grotesque hands. He again looks at his companions. Do they think I may try to eat them?

Irish wrote:

Jack says, his Irish brogue very noticeable. [Dragonese/Elvish] "And who might you all be, eh?" Irish says punctuating it with a click of his tongue.

Skulls attempts to sound non-threatening and offers : [Dragonese/Elvish] “ Greetings. I am Skulls” He then listens as the smaller beings talk and finishes his cigarette.

Cold-center wrote: "So what about you big guuuyy?"

[Dragonese/Elvish]“ I am a Troll. A mighty hunter, and tracker of beasts.” Skulls flexes his arms and squats for effect. Then in a more subdued tone [Dragonese/Elvish] “And also a slave.”

As Events unfold Skulls wonders who this Erebos is, but will gladly serve him if it keeps him out of the slave pens.

Erebos wrote:

“ I am a troll. Trolls possess great power.” Skulls looks for something to lift. Seeing nothing obviously heavy, he instead flexes and squats. He then adds : “Trolls are strong. Very useful.”

After some time has passed, and If not given a direct command, Skulls will set his gear down in a corner of the main room. Skulls will then try to make himself useful by guarding the main door.

After the tour concludes, Rana grabs her bindle and her hovercycle, and makes her way with Erebos and Ven to the new headquarters. Upon seeing it, she snorts. Typical human nonsense. Cold and stone. No hearth. No earth. No fortifications.

When the Kydian approaches she stares at him impassively.

Jarnax wrote:”If it were up to me I would let this venture fold. Lucky for you it is not up to me. I see the disrespectful one is gone. Did he become someone's lunch? I also see you found new friends as well. Let's hope they remember their place better than Vortigern did. You will find your new associates inside. Shall we see which of the slaves-to-be want to kill each other?”

My place is standing above your cold corpse, kydian. My foot on your throat.

She dismounts her hovercycle, and hauls it inside through the spacious front doors, before maneuvering it against a wall and parking it, the low hum of its engine powering down to silence.

"Looks like a cave in here."

As she enters, she sees the megajuicer, the human, a large creature of some sort, and Kianra'Dea. She nods at Kianra.

Jarnax wrote:”Erebos, since My master wants this endeavor to succeed, I made arrangements for these people to fill out your team. These, with the other two you found, will serve the master’s goals well. And will keep you alive long enough for you to fail hard enough that I can shut this farce down. Enjoy.”

He seems to think we work for him. He is a fool. And a fool's mistakes can be leveraged.

After the door shuts behind him, Rana allows herself to laugh. "Hah! Vesh maq'KHAR.*"

"It is good to see you again, Kianra'Dea. I hope you sent many undead to hell while we were apart. I was just saying we were a Bajrak**, and here you are, as if pulled by your bonds to us."

Rana casually tosses her rucksack aside, allowing it to slide against the wall. She clasps Kianra by the shoulders and holds her firmly, before releasing her.

She turns to scrutinize the others. She starts with Irish, approaching him to an almost uncomfortable closeness. His skin, a lattice of scars and tattoos, mirrors in some ways her own, itself a patchwork of clan markings of ritual scarification and tattoos, and scars from injuries innumerable. If Ogres had a word for 'Namaste', she would say it. They don't. Instead she looks him in the eye, unblinking, for a long moment.

Others might see this as a threat. It is not. Some might see it as a challenge. It is not. No fist is clenched, nor fang bared. She stands calmly, impassively for a long moment.

She then nods briefly before speaking. Having heard him speak in dragonese, she replies in kind. "You are welcome. We will find chambers to rest and to work. I need space as well."

She then moves to the troll, listening to his conversation with Erebos.

Skulls wrote:"Greetings. I am Skulls. I am a Troll. A mighty hunter, and tracker of beasts. And also a slave.”

She nods at this - slavery is not unusual for Ogres. Another slave? How many slaves does this Bajrak need? She speaks, again in dragonese, which seems to be the preferred language of the group, "I have heard tales from of old of the Trolls, and their fearsome reputation. My own people come from under another sky... one where Trolls were dreaded and respected. I welcome you and would hope to learn more of your people."

Lastly, she turns to the Juicer. This one has the stance of a warrior-born. No stranger to fighting.

ColdCenter wrote:"I have seen my share of action, but only in the arena. I was made for it figuratively and literally. It has been 2 years now since I was turned into a Mega-Juicer."
A slave then, bred for the fighting-pits? He shall be useful indeed.

She surveys the group of them, Kinara and the 3 slaves.

In dragonese, she says to the group, "All of you. I am Rana ColdBlood. These are Erebos, our leader, and Venenifer. With Kianra'Dea and others who are not here we are a Bajrak... A clan." She shifts unsteadily from foot to foot, obviously uncomfortable speaking so many words at once.

* Vesh maq'KHAR = "Even the mighty rot". - The gobblely version of memento mori.
** Bajrak = clan. Ogre clans can form in many ways, most often by blood, sometimes by declaration, and sometimes by recognition that members are bound by stronger bonds than blood.

Introduction wrote:With her self imposed exile still fresh Kianra makes for the last place anyone would look for her...Atlantis.

Kianra is certainly not accustomed to how their fair city ended up turning out post-occupation, and is so lost in thought that when the Kydian runs into her, she almost draws her blade before remembering where she is. Slave? She thinks to herself with a narrowing of eyes that could send chills down even the hardest of warriors and supernatural evils alike. "No. I am no slave." She responds, her voice chilling though calm.

When given the option between indentured servitude or a slave collar, a fire flares in her eyes and the Voyager nearly draws her blade. This magot wouldn't last seconds against me, but then, I am not on safe grounds. Now I am slightly glad I came here, if anything, to reignite my fire to purge this stock and their ilk from my homeland. She silently condemns this Kydian to death, but simply nods and follows. She does not remark to either the troll or the juicer at first. She examines the Kydian the entire time, mostly to determine if this would be a noted Powerlord or simple Overlord. Not that it matters, even a Powerlord would fall to my blade within moments, though that would be far more dangerous. She reaffirms.

"I'll do your indentured servitude for now, Kydian, but call me a minion again and I will not respond well." She responds sharply, curious of the Kydian actually could even know what she was or what she was capable of.

When left waiting with the human, the troll and the juicer, Kianra leans against one of the walls and studies each of them. When the greasy one speaks in dragonese/elvish, she offers a polite bow of her head. "Kianra'Dea. A pleasure to meet you, Irish, then. You may call me Kianra."

When the Juicer speaks, she'll offer the same nod of her head. "ColdCenter? Curious moniker. Sounds near gladiatorial. Might just call you Cold, or Michael. My name is Kianra'Dea, just Kianra, please." She answers and then pauses with a scoff at his comment about the powerlord.

So he is a powerlord. He's still killable. She remarks to herself with a soft laugh before nodding. "Yes, a dick indeed. Not surprising in these parts though. They have the run of the show, these Kydians and their ilk." She responds, making no real effort to hide her disdain.

When the troll finally speaks after lurking, she offer another slight nod of her head. "Skulls, is it? Easy to remember. Call me Kianra." She remarks then listens to him answer Cold and shakes her head. Definitely a slave with that attitude. "A slave for now. Show no weakness, show no fear. These slavers have no respect for their cattle." She says quietly.

Then the Kydian returns with surprises and a rather annoying statement.

The Kydian wrote:”Erebos, since My master wants this endeavor to succeed, I made arrangements for these people to fill out your team. These, with the other two you found, will serve the master’s goals well. And will keep you alive long enough for you to fail hard enough that I can shut this farce down. Enjoy.”

Yup, he's first on my list. She remarks silently then notices who is with him.

***

When Kianra identifies Rana, Erebos and Venenifer, her entire demeanour changes and she accepts the embrace from Erebos, moves to offer Ven an embrace and Rana should she accept it, otherwise shell offer a strong arm grab of respect.

Erebos wrote: "It is good to see you again, Kianra... had I not known any better, I might suspect that fate conspires to join us all together this day,"

"You as well, Erebos. Timing is everything it seems, I was given leave from Clan duties. I didn't expect to be addressed by a Kydian in such a manner, it took a great deal to resist gutting him in the streets." She remarks, not hiding her disdain now that Jarnax has left. When he mentions Ven, she'll nod and embrace the dragoness.

Rana wrote:"It is good to see you again, Kianra'Dea. I hope you sent many undead to hell while we were apart. I was just saying we were a Bajrak**, and here you are, as if pulled by your bonds to us."

"You as well! My hunts have gone well, though right now I am taking some me time away from clan duties; and apparently forced into servitude. Not that I mind serving with you again." She remarks with a growing smile.

When Rana moves to scrutinize the others, she stifles a laugh at her comfortable comfort level now that she knows she is among friends, and Rana's closeness to each of the others.

To Venenifer, she'll add, "So, are they going to give you a place where you can, stretch out?" She says, mildly in jest though her tone is serious.

Venenifer pays no mind to the Kydian's brash remarks and allows Erebos and Rana to deal with him. She accompanies the duo to the temple with an inquisitive gaze. This cityscape is so vast, it is no wonder dragons and creatures of my like stay here and explore. There is much to see and experience here. She thinks to herself amid the travels, paying no real mind to the Kydian.

To Erebos, she'll comment. "So, this land is dangerous for your kind, slave stock and all. I'm thinking I can remain in house, gives me the leeway to explore the city and prevent unwanted visitors from my, er, our den. I just need a large room to live in and open up." She states to Erebos mid-travel.

When they arrive, she'll ignore the Kydian as he's talking, walk past him, and embrace the atlantean voyager with a near child-like glee. "I was just thinking about how you would fit in well with us! I didn't expect to see you again so soon! I still love my riddles, don't worry. I've just gained a... new focus."

When Jarnax leaves, she waves him off like nothing and lets everyone else introduce themselves. After everyone is done, she'll simply stand and add. "And my name is Venenifer. I'm a Dragon." She says with a toothy grin at the end. "I think I will be staying in the city while you lot go do your work this lord. Don't worry, I'm not secretly going to eat anyone and I certainly couldn't care less for that lord, his little kydian minion, or what anyone says. Anyone gives you trouble around the city, tell them you know a dragon and I'll bite their little heads off." She says in a joking manner that can't honestly be telling if it's honest or not.

To Erebos, she'll turn again and add, "I'd very much like to stretch my wings now, so if you could show me to the larger room. Oh if anyone has doubts, you're welcome to follow me, I do so love having company." She says with a near teasing eye.

To Kianra, she nods, "Of course I get the biggest room, or at the least one of the biggest rooms. Or I better. I'll fight for it." She says playfully.

Erebos and Rana

Erebos finds the quiet of the lower floors slightly ominous this time around, with so many friends having come and seemingly gone in a day. The fact that the environmental systems for the building aren't fully online yet leaves a chill in the air of the lower floors. As Erebos makes his way to the room in which Vortigern had claimed as a workspace, he see's that the door is ajar. Walking in, he can tell that it was hastily picked up, evidence of magic circles is still on the floors. Checking the room Vortigern had claimed shows it to be equally empty. Checking on his own room and gear, he finds a neatly folded sheet of what appears to be parchment. On it is a letter written in Dragonese:

Erebos,

I am sorry to do this once again, but there are some things a man must do to consider himself a man of honor. Certain prior obligations of mine have come up, and I must go deal with them. I do not want to drag the name of out fledgling company into any trouble my past may cause. I trust you will ensure that the business is a successful venture.

Your Friend,
Vortigern

Everyone else

As introductions are made, it is apparent how empty the headquarters actually is. While Skulls and Rana feel quite comfortable with the size of the interior, the smaller members of the group can't fail to notice how it was designed for beings much larger than them. As night has fallen, there is a slight chill in the air, the environmental systems apparently not yet set for human inhabitation. Other than the echos of their conversations, the first floor is quiet, the thick walls and the half mile to the Dimensional Marketplace keeping the exterior sounds to a minimum. With Jarnax gone, the angry energy he seemed to carry with him is gone, leaving everyone with a feeling like a storm had just past, one that left them blessedly unscathed.

Perception: 1d100 = 30/59%

JIC (100): 1d100 = 95
JIC (20): 1d20 = 19

Conditions (at the end of this post; time format= minutes:seconds): None

Unless otherwise stated, Érebos speaks in Dragonese during dialogue and thinks in Ancient Greek.

Venenifer wrote:To Erebos, she'll comment. "So, this land is dangerous for your kind, slave stock and all. I'm thinking I can remain in house, gives me the leeway to explore the city and prevent unwanted visitors from my, er, our den. I just need a large room to live in and open up." She states to Erebos mid-travel.

"You won't be joining us, then?" he replies, somewhat disappointed, but at the same time understanding the value of having a dragon guarding one's home. If nothing else, the Splugorth may defer more to her, and she might even be able to pose as one and the rest of us as her slaves, if the need serves... he thinks, reminding himself to discuss that option later with Ven and the others.

Irish wrote:When Powerlord Jarnax returns, Irish's head immediately goes down to avert his gaze from the Powerlord.

The perceptive Shadow Mage notices how Irish's eyes immediately sink when he sees Jarnax. Will have to keep an eye on this one... either he's broken - and possibly working for the Sploogs - or, he's faking it. Either way, good response for a passive slave.

Irish wrote:Irish looks at the shadow mage, and seems to wait several long moments. [Dragonese/Elvish]"Aye, I am a mechanic." Irish says to confirm the mages assumption.

Érebos takes a moment to soak in the man's response, thoughtfully watching his mannerisms and listening to the words. "Good. Mechanical aptitude is certainly something we lack at the moment. Though, I'm curious why you would have been assigned to us. How long have you been a slave, and what is your name?" he asks the casually dressed and standing man.

To Irish's comment about the sparse furnishings: "Yes, we just got here in the last day or so - my friend and I, who started this venture did, anyhow. Very much has happened very quickly, and as I alluded to earlier to the statuesque and tattooed woman here, Kianra..." here, Érebos nods his head toward Kianra - "... it seems the powers-that-be are conspiring in some sense to bring us all together. I can't say I'm entirely sure why, or whom it may be. At any rate, I say we take what has been handed to us and make the most of it."

Kianra'Dea wrote:"You as well, Erebos. Timing is everything it seems, I was given leave from Clan duties. I didn't expect to be addressed by a Kydian in such a manner, it took a great deal to resist gutting him in the streets."

"That it is, my friend... that it is. Jarnax is fortunate to have retained his guts after what sounds like a rather impolite introduction. We've killed for less," he says as he flashes a wicked grin at his True Atlantean sister-in-arms. He leans in: "Let's catch up a bit more later," he says to her with a nod.

Kianra'Dea wrote:"So, are they going to give you a place where you can, stretch out?" She says, mildly in jest though her tone is serious.

"Hah! We were literally just talking about that on the way here," says the Shadow Mage with a grin, knowing Ven's nature as he does.

Venenifer wrote:When Jarnax leaves, she waves him off like nothing and lets everyone else introduce themselves.

"Yes, I think we'll benefit quite a bit from having a dragon as a resident. Amongst other things, it will almost certainly result in a bit of deference from the Splugorth, as they tend to give dragons more accord than the rest of us," he says, though he's not quite as sure about the troll's standing. Still, he does know that the Splugorth respect and admire dragons.

ColdCenter wrote:"I have seen my share of action, but only in the arena. I was made for it figuratively and literally. It has been 2 years now since I was turned into a Mega-Juicer."

Érebos' eyebrows go up a bit when ColdCenter mentions he's a Mega-Juicer. "Mega-Juicer, you say? I confess... I know neither a good amount in regards to juicer tech, nor much of the different variants of juicers, but I do know that they're fast, tough, and invariably lethal in combat. What is it about a Mega-Juicer that makes you distinct from, say, the other juicer types?" he asks in apparent genuine curiosity.

Arena combat... this one has likely seen a lot of death and violence in the past two years. If he's stable, he could prove very useful when we get ourselves into a tangle...which, of course, we will... he thinks while glancing up and down at the Mega-Juicer and his gear.

Lord of skulls wrote:“ I am a troll. Trolls possess great power.” Skulls looks for something to lift. Seeing nothing obviously heavy, he instead flexes and squats. He then adds : “Trolls are strong. Very useful.”

"Yes... you look quite strong," says the Shadow Mage to the hulking, nearly 10' tall brute. "I certainly wouldn't want to arm wrestle you," he adds with a grin and twinkle in his eye, testing the troll's sense of humor. Strong is all well and good, but we also need a certain temperament... and many of these monster types are all-too-savage and undisciplined... dangerous traits in a group that would survive, at least in part, on wits and skill... he thinks, observing carefully the troll's reactions and body language.

"So, what shall we call you, Mr. Troll?" he asks the being. "And what other traits or capabilities are you possessed of?" he asks.

Rana wrote:After the door shuts behind him, Rana allows herself to laugh. "Hah! Vesh maq'KHAR.*"

The Shadow Mage smiles at Rana's comment. [Gobblely]"Indeed he will... and his masters along with him, if we have anything to say about it," he says to the Ogress.

He watches Rana with the others, paying special attention to how the Ogress and Troll interact.

Rana wrote:"I have heard tales from of old of the Trolls, and their fearsome reputation. My own people come from under another sky... one where Trolls were dreaded and respected. I welcome you and would hope to learn more of your people."

Érebos nods. If he's good enough for her, he's good enough for me he thinks, satisfied with Rana's judgment. Wait... is it even a 'he'...? he wonders about Skulls momentarily before something else draws his attention away.

Rana wrote:"All of you. I am Rana ColdBlood. These are Erebos, our leader, and Venenifer. With Kianra'Dea and others who are not here we are a Bajrak... A clan." She shifts unsteadily from foot to foot, obviously uncomfortable speaking so many words at once.

"Indeed, a Bajrak we are, my friend," he says, reaching up and clapping her on her shoulder. Érebos is not a small man - he's the height of a tall human male - but actually quite short for a True Atlantean, which gives him certain advantages when wanting to blend in with humans. In Atlantis, this isn't much of an advantage at all, until one realizes that the Splugorth enjoy enslaving and torturing True Atlanteans even more than most other humanoids.

He clears his throat: "All of us have been brought together for a purpose. Some came of their own will... others were ordered and obeyed. Regardless of how you arrived, as my ogre friend here has stated, we are a Bajrak - a clan." He pauses for a moment to let that sink in, and thinks about his words. "The purpose of this venture is simple: we are a group of adventuring types offering our services as troubleshooters and problem solvers to clients. That's it, in a nutshell. Being that Atlantis has some of the most diverse, far-reaching and - let's be real - wealthy clientele, it's a prime spot to attract the kind of business we'd like to attract."

The Shadow Mage begins to slowly pace around the outside of the group as he speaks, finding his footing. As he slowly circles around to Kianra, he continues: "Our contracts - or, if you prefer, our adventures - will take us to many places. Many of us are competent and seasoned dimensional travelers and explorers and, if you're not yet - you most certainly will be," he says, making his way around the group.

When he gets to where ColdCenter is standing, he continues on: "Many of us have seen the horrors - and the glory - of combat... and some of us have seen more than our fair share in our time," he says. "Combat is something we will definitely engage in from time to time, and you'll need to be competent at it. Preferably very good at it. If you aren't yet - you most certainly will be," he says, moving onto where Rana stands.

"Others of us have seen tremendous loss and suffering, and have taken it upon ourselves to avenge those who need avenging, never resting until the foulest scourges of the Megaverse are purged from their accursed existence..." he says, stopping for a moment. "If you haven't experienced the loss and suffering of which I speak... yet... you most certainly will," he says.

He comes around to where Irish is standing, noticing the scars and marks all over his body - not the same types of ritual scarring Rana has, nor the intricate tattoo work of Kianra, but the marks of one who has suffered under the yoke of slavery. "Still others have borne the brunt of being forced to do things against their own will, or perhaps, have not experienced what it is like to have a will of their own, outside and away from the prying eyes of their so-called 'owners'... if you haven't experienced the exhilaration of being in control of your own destiny, of being autonomous - you most certainly will," he says, once again adding emphasis at the end.

Finally, he comes around to where Skulls is. "Some of us are possessed of great power and gifts, far beyond what most are capable of... and, perhaps, not even approaching our actual potential. If you haven't seen just how far your own power can grow yet...you most certainly will," he intones, before stopping in front of Ven.

"And, last but not least - some of us... are dragons, he quips, winking at the dragon. "Unfortunately, most of us will never experience what that's like," he says with a grin.

He then stops walking and turns to address the entire group, raising his voice: "Bajrak - clan - we are a myriad group of individuals - a group which has been pulled together for a purpose. That purpose will be realized in this venture known as Hellblazers, Inc. We will struggle. We will grow. We will suffer, and we will fight. But ultimately - we will win. And that's what counts in the end - we need to win. Win for ourselves, and win for our clients. I envision us as the premier dimensional troubleshooting and problem-solving group in Atlantis, and would like you all to join me in realizing that dream. Now, let me be crystal clear about something."

He pauses to look at the newcomers, especially focusing on Irish and Skulls: "There are no slaves in Hellblazers, Inc. You are all important parts of a whole that would not.... could not... function without each of you, and there can be little doubt that people function best - and at their peak, which is where we need each other to be - when unburdened by the trials and stress of being subject to ownership as property."

Here, he pauses again to let the words sink in, watching the faces of the newcomers as his words find their targets. "Some may be slaves to so-called 'owners' outside of these walls, but in here - you're all Hellblazers, and part of the Bajrak!" he says, looking them all in the eyes in turn, and nodding his appreciation to Rana for providing the perfect term to unite the group.

Satisfied, he shows them all around, and lets them set up their gear and/or get settled in, showing them where their respective spaces are and the layout of the place, and of course answering any questions anyone has.

Your Friend,
Vortigern

The Shadow Mage, while a bit disappointed his friend won't be joining them, is nonetheless relieved to learn his friend isn't under duress and appears to be safe. Obligations are not things Sir Vortigern ever shirked from he thinks, and wishes his friend well.

Turning to Rana: "What next, friend? Perhaps we should get this place organized, and habitable? Some security wouldn't hurt either, methinks..." he says to her with a grin as he hands her the letter. "Sir Vortigern won't be joining us on this venture. Perhaps, in due time, we'll cross paths with our old friend again."

Érebos wrote:"Good. Mechanical aptitude is certainly something we lack at the moment. Though, I'm curious why you would have been assigned to us. How long have you been a slave, and what is your name?" he asks the casually dressed and standing man.

Irish shrugs. [Dragonese/Elven]"Like I said before, my name is Jack. Who says I'm a slave Boyo, even if I were one, there is no rising to a lofty station in Atlantis as a human. Easiest camouflage is to act like people in power expect, then they will more than likely ignore you like a piece of furniture." Irish says in an annoyed tone.

Érebos wrote:"Yes, we just got here in the last day or so - my friend and I, who started this venture did, anyhow.

Irish shrugs. [Dragonese/Elven]"Well that explains the lack of furnishing I suppose." Irish says as he's finally grabbed up his things. [Dragonese/Elven]"I'm gonna find a room to drop my things in." Irish makes his way downstairs to sub-level two and takes the 20x80 room (as discussed in chat). Setting his things in a corner, and making a quick mental note of the dimensions. [Euro]Gonna need some more tools, maybe figure out a way to add a lift to the surface, maybe a cot or a couch to sleep on I guess. After a short while Irish comes back up, preparing to take his tool chest down next.

Érebos wrote:"Bajrak - clan - we are a myriad group of individuals - a group which has been pulled together for a purpose. That purpose will be realized in this venture known as Hellblazers, Inc. Irish listens to Érebos' speech. [Euro]Man he talks a lot. Once the speech is over Irish lugs his Tool Chest down into the lowest sub-basement and sets it in the same corner as the rest of his things. [Euro]Hmm... what to do next boyo, don't have a bunch of credits to buy extra equipment. From what I can see we have one hover bike, and basically nothing else... I guess I wait for the boss man to figure out what is going on, and go with the flow. Bunch of magical creatures, so I ain't got anything to offer them now I guess. Irish thinks as he lightly unpacks his things, assembling and standing his power armor near the door, for easy retrieval. [Euro]Let's go see about getting a couch or hammock at least, not looking to sleep on the floor. Irish thinks before heading back upstairs.

Irish approaches Érebos. [Dragonese/Elven]"Need to hit the market for something to sleep on at the very least. I can go by myself, or with someone if they want to tag along." Irish says matter of factly.

Kianra wrote:"You as well! My hunts have gone well, though right now I am taking some me time away from clan duties; and apparently forced into servitude. Not that I mind serving with you again."

Rana scoffs. "You are no servant."

Erebos wrote:"Indeed he will... and his masters along with him, if we have anything to say about it,"

Rana laughs. She replies in Gobblely. "The prey do not know they are hunted."

As he speaks to the group, Rana stands off to the side, listening. As he speaks to each one, Rana thinks, our kagashta has a keen eye - he sees to the soul of these.

However, one phrase gives her pause.

Erebos wrote:"There are no slaves in Hellblazers, Inc.

She cocks her head. They said they were slaves - some of them. But, is it not true that even among my people a slave could earn a place in the Bajrak? They could and did. Erebos means to admit these into our Bajrak, then? She thinks for a moment as he continues talking. I said our kagashta has a keen eye, and he does. If he sees the bond of Bajrak in them, then so be it. It must be there.

After his speech, she joins him to seek Vortigern in the chambers below. Finding only his letter, she is dismayed, but not daunted. When Erebos hands her the latter, she doesn't bother reading it. Instead, she focuses on it, using her object reading ability. (-6 I.S.P.)

Object reading - determine present location of previous owner: 38% 1d100 = 7 (SUCCESS - though I know actually finding him is not possible at this time, it is something she would definitely try, so in this case I will assume failure)

She hands the letter back to Erebos. "We will find him when the bonds pull us back together."

Erebos wrote:"What next, friend? Perhaps we should get this place organized, and habitable? Some security wouldn't hurt either, methinks... Sir Vortigern won't be joining us on this venture. Perhaps, in due time, we'll cross paths with our old friend again."

Rana nods. "We should return to the others, and set them to their tasks. I shall check these lower chambers and set each to a purpose."

Rana will return topside with Erebos to discuss duties, and Rana will lead the group of them below to assign them to their rooms.

"Good idea. At some point, I'd like to set up some simple Circles of Protection to help keep unwanted supernatural baddies from becoming unwelcome houseguests. Maybe after we make a trip to the market for some basic supplies and furnishings, I can begin on that project. Need anything? I suspect you probably don't sleep on a bed... May as well make this place looks like we're open for business as well... he thinks.

Skulls will speak in Dragonese/Elvish, unless noted.

Rana wrote: "I have heard tales from of old of the Trolls, and their fearsome reputation. My own people come from under another sky... one where Trolls were dreaded and respected. I welcome you and would hope to learn more of your people."

Skulls sees the ogress as an immediate ally. [gobbley] "I appreciate your kindness Rana from another sky. Skulls, last of Skull clan, greets you. Hearing my second tongue is pleasing. I honor our acquaintance" His speech quick and fluid, his name stated with pride.

Erebos wrote: "Yes... you look quite strong," "I certainly wouldn't want to arm wrestle you,"

The joke concerns Skulls. A test of some kind.He attempts a mild grin, careful not show more of his fangs. " I would let you win, if it pleased you. " He grins again, hoping he answered well.

Erebos wrote: "So, what shall we call you, Mr. Troll?" "And what other traits or capabilities are you possessed of?"

Panic and uncertainty swirl in the trolls mind. He blinks. Being hulking is not enough? What uses does this strange man need? What capabilities do I possess other than being troll-size? The hundreds of large, fur-bearing creatures that Skulls had killed, visualized as a hill of carcasses. I am a hunter. "I am Skulls, a skilled hunter. I track beasts, and man. I can keep you safe from the dangers of the forest, or make you a trail. I have kept men safe before." The Troll puts added weight on the last statement.

Dodstrike wrote:

His earlier confusion was minor compared to how dumbstruck the Troll is by the mages speech to the group. Skulls sits on the floor of the main room and watches the front door.Safety behind stone walls, in the land of my first master? Freedom? After a lengthy amount of processing, Skulls digs thru his bag and pulls forth his enormous hooded tunic of bear fur. Comfortably hooded, he enjoys a cigarette. I am clan with dragon and ogress. The thought pleases skulls greatly. He imagines the beautiful purple dragon biting the head off of a kydian and chuckles to himself. He rests there contently.

This actually makes the Shadow Mage chuckle. "Strong and considerate, hmm?" he says with a wink.

"Ahh, I see. So, an experienced tracker and woodsman, as it were. Excellent - we just lost one of our primary scouts and trackers, so I'm sure we'll have a good and useful role for you to play in this venture, my massive friend," says the Shadow Mage.

He seems to be enjoying himself.. thinks the Sunaj as he observes Skulls lounging and making himself comfortable.

"Hey - I'm heading to the market in a short while to grab some furnishings and essentials. Let me know if you need anything. I can cover you, within reason, for essentials and basics, until we get paid on our first big contract," he announces to every member of the group casually as he encounters them, and makes a list of things to get, as well as any special requests.

"The best way I can put it is as such. If you were to pair a regular juicer and I togther he would be the knife and I the sword. I can dent armor with just a punch. Not much of a thing for some of our larger friends, but for a human quite amazing."

For Coldcenter the speech given by Erebos was very moving. The performer in him wanted to make a grand speech as well to celebrate this union and show his support for Erebos, but decides to hold back as he does not want to look like a kiss ass. A clan. This is the thing I have been looking for. I know I belong here and I know I will fight to the death to protect them.

"Actually yes I could use some things. A cot will do for now and maybe something to put some cloths in. What I could really use has to do with my weapons. I would really like to get the blade of the sword coated in silver. Also, if you noticed I have an unsual rifle. I will need to have a highly skilled weapons shop make some extra magazines and ammo for it and I'm sure it is not going to be cheap either. At the moment all I have is the one magazine and twelve rounds. I would like to at least have another mag and twelve rounds. I do have some money to help cover the cost or at least put something upfront. When you get a chance I would like to have a private word with you."

After speaking with Erebos he will wait around until they head out for the market.
4 out of the 5 voices in my head say go for it!
