Support EU/Patreon: Rewards & feedback

Post by Augur »

EU/OW is a FREE site. EU/OW is AD-FREE with no spyware, pop-ups or other annoyance one must deal with from free webhosts. Tons of personal time and a small amount of my own dollars go into this site. If you have enjoyed the roleplaying community that has been collaboratively created here, please consider donating.

How you can support EU:

Subscribe via Patreon
Image
Click on the banner link above and become a subscriber!

One-Time Donations

I'll dole out a reward from the EP menu subjectively commensurate with the value of the donation for those who make a one-time donation.

Snail Mail
If you wish to mail me a donation, that's rather old fashioned, but I'm fine with that.

Here is my mailing address:
Lloyd Ritchey
405 West First St.
Groom, Texas 79039

PayPal
If you wish to make a donation via PayPal, I am totally cool with that.

EU's PAYPAL E-mail address: lloyd.ritchey@gmail.com or paypal.me/LloydRitchey

BitCoin
If you are a BITCOIN user, and wish to make a donation that way, I am totally cool with that.

Here is my bitcoin:16WmgUrrbfX1YmXa9SSXmKAphtavJdJ1oi?label=Lloyd%27s%20Wallet

Affiliate Support Program

Amazon Banner
You can support EU's continued existence (and potentially our expansion and desired server upgrade) by doing your Cyber-Monday and Christmas shopping through our Amazon.com affiliate program! If you were going to do some shopping via Amazon anyway, this costs you nothing extra, but EU gets a tiny % as a kickback.

Simply go to the EU portal page ( http://explorersunlimited.com/ ) and click on the Amazon banner to do your shopping. It's as easy as that!

For the Milestone reward, I assume we still PM you which character. Since rolls can't be included on PMs, do you want us to Append them to the character sheet?

So, if that means we get a roll on the fotune and glory table, do we have to pick what char it applies to before hand, or can we pick which one to apply it to once the rolls have determined the result?

Beforehand, of course. Such choices get posted to the marketplace just as any other.

Ah ok. The reason I ask is simply that some of the potential results are fairly worthless to certain characters of mine and other characters can't roll on the table.

Mostly it's just the potential gear rewards. The money is also far more meaningful to some characters than others. My primary character; Kesslan for example would not really benefit from any of the gear related rolls since he already has similar/better or can simply buy what he needs. Others that could use pretty much anything on the tables can't roll (Such as Sarik because he's a magic user) and others could potentially get in trouble (CS character).

I'll probably apply it to Karl (my CS char) since he can use just about anything the table might come up with.

As per the EP menu explanatory notes, this is a one shot, one roll reward applicable to the one attribute of your choosing. See the explanatory notes for details.

40 patron milestone (modest reward) 7%

45 patron milestone (cool reward) 29%

50 patron milestone (epic reward) 64%

This is how the votes are looking so far, patrons!

With 50 being the crowd favorite so far, I'll start considering some epic rewards for all our patrons.

I'm definitely thinking some tangible reward (like maybe custom dice or something?) is in order in addition to an EP-based reward of some kind, and a promise to upgrade something on my end.

Thank you, patrons!

Also, the 50-Patron milestone won out in our first ever patron poll. That's a YUGE new benchmark to reach, so the reward for that is going to have to be pretty epic.

Sometimes I can be guilty of imprecise language and the like. This is not one of those times.

Tiree, you are always so reliable at finding ways to exploit a system, so let me make that simple: no more than one XP boost can apply to any one character during a given quadrimester.

Just a reminder to all players on EU, patron and non-patron alike:

If the idea of playing in a weekly ROLL 20 game tickles your fancy, or if you're just curious, please check out the following:

  • In this forum there is a thread dedicated to each of the games (activate and not) on ROLL 20.
  • In the initial post of each thread is a game invite link. Use this to access the game.
  • You will require an account at ROLL 20 (this is free) in order to actually access the various games.
  • Our game schedule is located here, and is regularly updated.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for Patron initiatives, but I was thinking a neat promotion may be to spend some of the proceeds to hire a Rifts artist (if willing) for avatar art (such as what Rufus sports). A lottery at the end of the year, getting one "entry" for each level of sponsorship would be the mechanism for determining the "winner". It's something unique that has no effect in game, but is rather cool.

I will say that it was a rare treat getting the sketch from Freddie (I finally got around to inking it -- I really should scan/color it sometime) so I'd second this suggestion.

The biggest challenges here are time and cost. Many of the more popular Pally artists are too tied up with current gigs (Freddie surprised me by graciously working me in; I was actually getting ready to draw Rufus myself) and those who would have the time to do it may want a pretty penny for it (when I asked Gustovich some months back about possibly doing Icky he quoted the $200 range -- but in all fairness that would have been a full-body drawing on 11x17, so it's not as bad as it may sound).

I like this "character commission lottery" idea as well.

Implementation is the tricky part.

The "one ticket per tier of patronage" idea also seems a good one. A very equitable way to distribute odds.

The cost isn't a big deal to me. Many really good artists are willing to do commissions for under $100, and anything more than that and you're really kind of getting ripped off IMSO.

Edit: Looks like RFM/EU has been supported via Patreon for 9 months now, so maybe trigger this event in May?

Yeah. John Becaro. The linked illustration is a commission done for one of the very first Omegas in EU's Century Station game. I've already asked him if he's available in May for such a commission. :D

All right, I had a question. I did become a patron (and already set aside payment for the entire year, I will not end the payment). Assume I decide I would like a new power for Spiderweb as a reward, who do I contact to discuss what power is gained and when I gain it?

1. Player posts the desired transaction to the marketplace.
2. Player does what he needs to do. Post die rolls, whatever...
3. When Augur updates the marketplace, he updates the player's ledger.

Yes, boys and girls, the process is really that simple. 8)

We had three declines.
One, who shall remain unnamed, has never processed, and so will simply be blocked next time he tries and fails.
The other two...they probably are just having budgeting issues this month, and likely are aware of their account status.

If those two get processed this month...THEN we'll be at 50 patrons and, yes, I'll be mailing a check, so to speak, to Roll20, and doling out some massive rewards to all the patrons. :D
