POLL: Disadvantages

Post by Augur »

Should we add an Advantages & Disadvantages mechanic to Rifts character creation?
The final result will be optional for Dimenion Masters to adopt or refuse as they prefer.
If at the end of the poll two-thirds of respondents are in favor, we will begin work on such a project.
(This is a proposed change to a major part of the game, so the bar is set higher than a simple majority.)
Such a mechanic would replace the insanity mechanic, but by virtue of including insanities as Disadvantages within the new mechanic.

I voted Yes, but the caveat is that we'd have to basically come up with an entire point-buy system of core character mechanics from the ground up, which honestly isn't likely to be workable. Especially across 80 users.

Same here. I can see lots of class options, and other items that exist in rifts already. Like, say my psi-Druid getting a spirit animal as a Shaman, animal familiars for wilderness types, or throwable Psi weapons as the Native warrior does. she is native herself. There are also a ton of other abilities that could easily be useful to many classes. as well as bonuses and such so long as they do not overshadow the EP system in the wrong way.

As I said before. It will take work. But should bring about much more robust character builds.
If my post is too stupidly written to read...ask me for a translation or hit me up in Hangouts.
