"Car belongs to Zeke Hiller, aged 29 years old. Assuming that's him, he has a few DUI's that are about a decade old. Looks like he got sober and kept out of trouble since then. Picked a hell of a day to fall off the wagon.
All it takes is one bad day ist it? she thinks, Whoever this 'Silas' is he must be important. This was the key. If she could help prevent what happened to Silas she might get Hiller to help them.

"No idea who the other guy is. But whoever he is, he's been having a very different night. His side of the car is clean. Not even a gum wrapper. All the liquor bottles are on the driver's side."
"So a clean car, What do we have on Hiller? and can we get a photo of the man to confirm his ID sent to my wrist computer? Check if he has any associates or family with the name 'Silas'? Likely a relation or a younger person in his life. Maybe a friend or co-worker. Also, run the photo of our unknown through the list of dead or missing people. he may have faked his death or using another Identity." she told Transit. looking to Guardian plus she answers.

"I'll help the EMT's load 'Felix' into the ambulance." The sound of police sirens gets closer, and he then points to Zeke. "Want to take 'Oscar' in for questioning?"
"May as well bring 'Oscar' in. What 'Oscar' said strikes me as a bit more than Coincidence. The car is clean except for the bottles. Remind the police to keep an eye on 'Felix'." the woman replied approaching Zeke. A drunk was probably a safe bet. Still best to be on guard just in case. Checking Hiller and reduces toxins in his system on the way to or at the station. Drunk the man was no help and right now she needed to know why the car hit. The unknown man was likely from out of town or listed as dead. Being dead meant a lot of benefits that an enterprising criminal can enjoy.

As Special K works his theatrics, while Sicilia doesn't share in the crowd's cheers, she can't help but feel a little stir of excitement, resisting the urge to pull out her notepad to jot down notes, knowing doing so in such a controlled area was likely a bad plan. I'm glad I'm not being sent up there. My abilities are not nearly as intriguing as Rook's or Sentinel's.

Still, labelled as just a guest, there wasn't a whole lot of wandering she could get away with, though the age-old trick of asking for a restroom was always a possibility. I can do my best to memorize the people in this crowd, the others might be too busy with their performances to do so. Using her reporter's eye, she does her best to take in the appearance of each other in the crowd that she can glance at without seeming too odd doing do, such as the lithe woman sitting to her side.

She reaches out with her mind to Rook, only the winged human able to hear her mental words as she says, I've been stuck in the gallery, wasn't able to stay in the back. I'll do my best to memorize some of the faces out here, it might be useful for Guardian when we're done.

The paint sprayer is a bit of a surprise, but an anti-tampering system is to be expected. She pretty much ignores the old man as she tries to figure out if there is more paint in the reserve, she may be able to use it to mark her trail, which would solve one of her problems.

Mechanical Engineer (71%): 1d100: [8] = 8 Figure out paint device

At least she will not be easily recognizable as Chastity, that is a bonus.

Once she has figured out the paint sprayer (if she can). She will start heading back...but not being in as much of a hurry she does it a bit differently. She turns her feet into Roller Blades and skates back the way she came.

1) If she has the paint sprayer working, she will paint a small blue arrow at the base of a crosswalk pole pointing the way back here each time she turns. If not, she will notch an arrow into the curb near street-level by making her hands into chisels and hammers. Most people should not be looking that far down.

It will take her more than twice as long to get back because of pausing to mark the path, but by the time she gets there, she will be almost healed. She is also not particularly good at finding her way around in strange cities, but she was raised on the street (to some extent), so she has some idea who to ask.

When was the last time I had an audience captive to myself? Does the reporter and all of Century Station count? Well the stage is set and I am ready for another show, let the show begin! Sentinel thinks walking forwards looking out over the crowd gathered to watch their performances, his and Rooks. He stands there slowly looking back and forth at the crowd thinking how he should play the part. He had seen countless different performers over the millennia. Something more recent I think is suitable. he decides to settle on a showman he had watched eighty-some years ago at a circus roadshow. Impersonate Specific Occupation -- 114%/ 1d100: [96] = 96

”Welcome to the show! I am Emperor Qin Chi Zheng, and you may not know me, but you won’t forget me after today! Don’t blink, or you will miss the show!” he says bowing ostentatiously with an arm out to the side and one tucked at his waist, he blips ever so slightly to the right an inch or so, just enough to make one’s eyes engage saccade rhythm. Teleport 100%/ 1d100: [77] = 77 , Biology 104%/ 1d100: [62] = 62 And for good measure he does it one more time, ”You blinked already?!” he announces sounding incredulous with a jovial smile filled with stony teeth that betrays his mock tones. ”Alright promise you won’t blink again will you?” He says with mock seriousness as he calls forth an ectype blocked from line of sight behind him to step, ”I’d hate to have to repeat myself.” the ectype says stepping to the side finishing the gag. Sentinel turns in mock shock at the arrival of the new ectype in surprise as they point at each other. Feigning an exaggerated recovery back to his senses he continues,”Well since you are here, would you give me a hand and explain to these fine folks what I am going to do?” Sentinel asks his ectype.

The ectype explains, ” My partner here is about to create a wondrous thing to behold out of that water there. Don’t blink! It won’t last long.”, says the stone copy.

As the ectype explains Sentinel moves over to the tank of water and washes his hands in the tub clearly showing it is full of water, and playfully splashes some towards the crowd. As they react he quickly casts a spell, fleet feet, ”Remember! Don’t blink or you may miss it.” he says taking a mock step-and-hop at incredible speed pantomiming the teleport he had already done in jest to mess with their eyes.

”Watch the water.” the ectype whispers loudly and theatrically. I will have to be perfect to accomplish this. he muses as he begins casting time slip and prepares to build a work of art.

[Sentinel casts Time Slip giving himself 7 seconds of time out of time. This gives him 5 seconds before he has to cast it again. He works fast and diligently able to move at blinding speed, his hands aided by Fleet Feet and multi-action power. He can cast Time Slip this way about 37 times giving himself a usable time of 185 seconds or 3 minutes. With fleet feet and multi-action, he has about 20 or 40 actions respectively using both hands over 15 seconds and about 6-7 or 12-14 actions respectively per time slip. He rapidly makes a dragon out of the water taking advantage of the paused time with the water hanging in place. The dragon will be about 7 feet tall, as high as he could reach, and compensates for the lack of height by making its wingspan 3 times as wide. About part when most of the body and wings are formed he calls forth 60 lbs of Golden Wonder Killifish (100s) placing throughout giving it a tremendously golden sheen in the floodlight of the stage and amplified by the magnifying effect of the water. Art 79%/ 1d100: [39] = 39 Right before the last time slip ends sentinel uses Energy Expulsion: Dimensional Energy blast Loss of Gravity at the base of it on the ground in a 21 foot diameter encompassing the creation. 1d20: [16] = 16 +8 = Success 1d4 melees active/ 1d4: [2] = 2 Lasts for 30 seconds before collapsing to gravity.

Ending the last time slip, Sentinel stands and admires the creation that can now scintillate as the fish move and bring it to life. Turning to the crowd he bows with a final flourish and leaves the stage.

Greene wrote:Nearby, Greene takes Rook and Sentinel's equipment requests in stride. He reaches into a nearby gym bag and pulls out a purple velvet Crown Royal that contains assorted hardware supplies - nails, washers, a few door hinges, and one dozen ball bearings. "If you're going to launch those, I'll have some targets set up. As for flying, we got a hoop course you can follow. It has a lot of dynamic moves that will show just how good you are on your wings."
Rook nods, though the idea of trying to fly through wings does leave her feeling concerned; clearing her throat, she fingers the small pieces of metal, looking back to their host. "How wide are the rings? I have a total wingspan of roughly twenty feet, and having some clearance would be ideal."

When it is show-time, Rook steps closer to Sentinel, looking up to him. "I won't lie I'm a little nervous, not a fan of crowds... especially crowds focused on me. Do you mind going first?" she asks in a low tone, hoping that he can hear her over the din.
Special K wrote:He then charges through the stage's curtain, using his new claws to tear it to shreds. "I AM THE MAXX!!!" The crowd goes wild. He laughs and continues. "Kidding, of course. I am your host Special K, joined by our lovely Ring Girl, Minnie. And we want to welcome you to the Arena, where we have a wild card ahead of you. ARE YOU READY!"

The crowd cheers even louder. "Well let's get things started with some POWER DEMONSTRATIONS!" And with those words it is time to perform.
Once Special K has gone out to start pumping up the crowd, Rook quietly activates the body-cam, glad that it is built into the suit - as no one had at any point said anything to her about it, she assumes that it is well hidden. 'Lets hope that its not being jammed or whatever, by what Greene did earlier,' the young woman quietly worries. The roar of the crowd doesn't help. Swallowing hard, the she follows Sentinel out onto the stage.

While the Emperor does his own act, Rook takes the time to study first the rings that she is expected to fly through, trying to judge whether she will be able to fit her wings through them or not, as well as what might be the best path through. Next, she looks for the targets that she'll be using to show off her metal darts, mapping out in her mind a course she can take to try and impress the crowd.

Once it is her turn, the young woman draws a deep breath, then steps forward and spreads her wings wide before taking to the air; she hovers a few feet above the stage for a few seconds before launching herself up towards the first. Rooks wings beat hard at the air as they carry her up to an altitude higher than the first ring, allowing her to dive through it with improved speed; a second ring is flow through a few heartbeats later before the heroine swoops down to fling volleys of metal darts at the first two targets, in a sort of strafing-type attack.

Rook continues this display for another thirty or so seconds, going doing her best to combine or alternate maneuvering with target practice until finally, after the final target is downed she lands close to Sentinel - flying low across the stage then pulling up short and tucking her wings in, then dropping down to her feet and into a kneeling position - the stereotypical 'superhero landing' one might see in movies.

Breathing hard, Rook closes her eyes as she tries to catch her breath, willing the adrenaline flowing through her to slow or stop. 'C'mon, before I start shaking so much that I topple over...' she mouths to herself, extending her wings a foot or so to help with balance.

Note: I can't remember which bonus to use for the metal shards attack, if its the +6 bonus on Rooks sheet, or if it works like firearms and gets no inherent bonuses - since it is a power rather than an item, I am assuming it gets the bonuses. If not, subtract 6 from each roll.

Undercard
Megapolis
Date: Monday, April 6th, 2043
Weather: Clear skies, warm (67 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 8:00 pm

From her perch in the audience, Sicilia has a prime view of the Arena as it is about to begin. Then she feels a slight tingle run through the length of the body. She doesn't need to run to the restroom, so to speak, though that wouldn't be a bad idea. It has been over five months since the last time that she has shed her skin.* Her scales are turning a bright purple flecked with dark blue, an effect of the scales detaching and reflecting the lights of the Arena. The woman sitting next to her, puts down her spliff. "Damn girl, you look like my handbag," she says raising a very expensive looking snakeskin purse embroidered with leather. "You sell?"

Sicilia needs to decide if she wants to shed in private and miss Sentinel taking the stage, or stay and watch. The ring girl, Minnie is a tiny Asian woman with a very athletics frame, walks on the stage, holding up a card saying "The Yellow Dragon", and Sentinel enters with a dramatic flair. Except it is not a stage, the audience is all above him in a balcony, and surrounding him are three cameras. It is a TV studio. There is some polite clapping from the gallery, a few are impressed by the minor act of teleportation; from stage left someone shouts, "LAAAAAAAAAAME!" (There's always a critic.) Summoning an an ectype gets a bigger response: a flurry of murmurs, a few people leaning over the gallery railing. They're not excited, they are interested, very interested. When Sentinel is finished he is met with a hearty applause. The crowd is not going wild, they are appreciative, like a room full of investors impressed by a new business venture. And Sentinel walks off the stage feeling like he will get an offer to fight again. Greene seems to agree judging from the sinister smile he has.

Minnie walks across the stage again, holding a new card saying "Steel Seraph", not knowing what Rook's handle is Greene came up with one of his own. She hardly notices, as she's mapping out her path through the ringed flight course, but she doesn't have time to spot the targets before she's called up. Sasha taps her chest to pump herself up and hopefully turn on her body cam (in theory it should still be recording), before running onstage with a polite nod, and then immediately she takes flight. Flying towards the first ring she sees the targets peppered near each ring, it distracts her and she catchers her foot on the ring missing her target. There's a collective groan from the gallery as it looks like she's going to crash hard. Instead, Rook makes a sharp turn, correcting her course. It's a brilliant move and she can feel crowd's respect; so naturally, she drills two ball ball bearings right through the second and third targets. A few more quick turns shows that she is proficient at building her speed while making quick moves, and the cheering grows steadily as Rook flies through the topmost ring fourth and zips through the final ring before expanding her wings in a violent jerk that allows for a swift and flawless landing. Silence, as Minnie walks to the stage and cries, "Our young Seraph ran through the course in a respectable 22.4 seconds!" The crowd goes wild! Not a record (18.3 seconds), but definitely an impressive time especially for a rough start. "And bonus points for hitting four out of five targets!" Rook walks backstage to steady applause.

Down the street, Iron Maiden is putting on her own Blue Woman Solo Show. A quick inspection of her suit reveals that there are a number of single-use blue paint packets. When she decided play with the wiring she set one on herself. She also spots a secondary defense system, any attempt to tamper with one of the suits critical systems will release an electric jolt to the person doing the tampering.** Blue, cranky, and tired, she turns her feet into rollerblades and starts to skate down the street and clear her head. She skates through the west side of Megapolis until she hits Little Sparta the Greek/hipster neighborhood. A group of teenagers on skateboards wheel up to her and shout, "Yo, blueberry! Where you going?"

She tells them which precinct she wants to get to and they challenger her to a race. Can Iron Maiden keep up?

She will hope to join Wi-Fi for part of her interrogation of the man that hit her car, Zeke Hiller. He is sitting in an interrogation room, a mop of blonde hair over his face. He's sobered up, but he's still visibly distressed. According to the info Transit can pull he's fallen off the wagon after a number of years of sobriety, then he deliberately hit a police car, but he seems to feel worst for whatever he did to his buddy Silas.

After the power demonstrations are over, Silas is called to the stage. He nervously walks up to the stage, Special K leading him with a hand on his shoulder. Minnie takes a microphone and says, "As you all know, we pride the audience of our Arena shows for their discretion. We don't just let anyone see the next crop of super-criminals in person. And all we ask is that you kindly do not disclose the results of the Arena fights until our show is posted online."

"That's right Minh," Special K says taking his hand off of Silas. "We don't have many rules, but we enforce them. And that includes the strictest code of secrecy." The young man's eyes wild with fear. He puts his hands together as if he's trying to summon some energy. Special K stops him with a burst of lightening from his hands. "Take Silas here: he secretly placed a number of bets on the last Arena show with a bookie friend of his. And while we trust our network of bookies to enforce the rules among ourselves, fighters that break the rules are dealt by me!"

At this moment everyone realizes why the GPS units and radios are still scrambled. And why the police have never been able to track the Arena in the first place. They are not broadcasting the fights live, the Arena is filmed before a live studio audience.

This realization is harshly interrupted by a large burst of electricity from Special K's hands. He continues to zap Silas for a full 20 seconds, until smoke is pooling over his body. The entire Arena complex is silent. The woman sitting next to Sicilia takes out another spliff and takes a long drag. She holds it in front of Sicilia. "Fuck, that right there is just... fuck." Backstage, Rook and Sentinel watch next to a stone faced Greene. He is not happy to watch one of his fighters die like that, but he abides the rules. As do all the other fighters; they are caught between grief at a fallen comrade and contempt for someone that broke their code.

\What do you do?

Butcher's Bill
Iron Maiden: - 20 H.P. (Cumulative)^
Wi-Fi: - 22 I.S.P.^^

* According to everything I've looked, I cannot see a reason why Sicilia would continue growing by the age of 17, even if we slow down her aging process. She is a fully grown adult snake. But she would still regularly shed her skin every several months (3 - 5 in a normal asp or when she levels up), and you can RP those effects.
** The suit is insulated to protect the wearer if this defense is triggered, that is unless the person wearing the suit is also doing the tampering.
^ Iron Maiden has recovered 15 H.P. since the last GM post for your reference.
^^ I apologize for putting this up late, but this total includes doing a psychic diagnosis on both Hiller and his passenger (info him soon enough), using healing touch on the passenger, and of course psychic purification on Hiller. Thanks for reminding me to keep this tally.

"Who is this Silas fellow? It will be useful to know about him. Hiller said the name just after the crash when he was drunk. Check Hillers Associates, friends, and contacts he may have. My suit has a radio so you can send me the info quietly if the search takes too long. It is just a first name. but it is all we have. I will ask about Silas as well." she asks via radio or phone to Transit, "Also get some good coffee and tea for our friend here. my detox trick would have taken care of the alcohol and hangover If I did it. Tea or coffee might make him settle down easier. If there is a camera in there I want footage for the questioning." the woman asked before looking to the door to the interrogation room. Part of it was the fact she was not a local and that is a big part. Nothing to be done there either.

I requested info on Silas. Maybe I was not clear or perhaps these people just don't like me? Hell, CSPD all over again better to not be rude since I have no local credit. she thinks to herself. Long as the team does their job and stays as safe as they can be is all that matters. Speaking of she also needs to find Ironmaiden.

"Transit, see if you can get radio contact with Ironmaiden. she drove off while we were T-boned by the guy in interrogation. She was likely trying to tail them." Wi-Fi added remembering the details of the event a little more clearly.

If Guadian Plus is around ignore the next part:
OOC Comments
"Is GP around this is his turf. So he has better local knowledge than I do." she asked. I can manage if needed.
If Guardian Plus is near her:
OOC Comments
"Shall we get this done so I can get out of your city?" she joked, "Ready when you are."
and no one suspects it..

"Mr.Hiller, Would you prefer Tea or Coffee?" she asks calmly while taking a seat. There was little point in asking about why he T-Boned the car. that was clear enough as to why that happened. so she focused questioning on Silas and the Passenger. Why they were there would give more clues than drunken ramblings. Silas would be the most effective way to get the info out him. Perhaps helping Silas might earn trust from Hiller.

Questions asked:
"I would like to know who this 'Silas' fellow is you mentioned."

"There was a gentleman in the passenger seat what can you tell bout him?"

"Who did your passenger work for?"

"Why was your passenger there?"

(other questions pending. they depend on the responses of Hiller)

If Hiller mentions the 'fighting society':
"What exactly did you do in the organization?

What made you quit the organization?

"Did your Passenger work with them as well?

What was your passenger's role in the organization?

Silas:
"What exactly did Silas do in the organization? (If not said )

"Did Silas work with them in other areas as well?

How can we help Silas if he is in trouble?

\What do you do?

Iron Maiden: - 21 H.P. (Cumulative)^
Wi-Fi: - 22 I.S.P.^^

** The suit is insulated to protect the wearer if this defense is triggered, that is unless the person wearing the suit is also doing the tampering.
^ Iron Maiden has recovered 14 H.P. since the last GM post for your reference.
^^ I apologize for putting this up late, but this total includes doing a psychic diagnosis on both Hiller and his passenger (info him soon enough), using healing touch on the passenger, and of course psychic purification on Hiller. Thanks for reminding me to keep this tally.
Chastity will just have to be used to being called a variety of blue nicknames until she can get the paint off. It is probably designed to be hard to remove, so that may be a while.

She will accept the challenge, thinking, I am an excellent skater, I can probably win in an even race. I might impress them if I win, or even make a good showing.

She will not cheat...she can skate at a speed of 91 (which is more than 60 MPH) without motorized help, that is well over the speed most normal skaters can reach on a level surface, if anyone is faster she will congratulate them. She will still have to pause to mark turns, so that will slow her. She will try to convince them to only race on the straightaways, as she does not know the turns.

If the radio comes back on and she can communicate with Wifi, she will call in, "Iron Maiden here, I tracked the van to a sub-complex, I am on my way back and am marking the route."

If her radio is still blocked, she will follow the Skateboarders until she gets back to the accident site, or to place where we were waiting at the start, or the precinct house...whatever place along the way she knows the rest of the route back. Once she knows where she is, she will thank the Skateboarders and try to get with the local police and/or Wifi about following the trail back to where the van parked.

If she encounters a police officer before that point (pull over, you are skating faster than the speed limit), she will ask them to relay the information for her if their radio is working and show them the marks she has been leaving so thy can start following.

Once out of sight behind stage, Rook braces herself against the closest wall, starting to tremble visibly - between the adrenaline coursing through her and the nervous-fear the young woman is doing her best to stay upright, legs and arms feeling both heavy and jelly-like. Eventually she sinks down onto her butt, drawing in slow and steady breaths to try and calm her body down.

If she spots Greene or Sentinel, she'll provide as confident a grin as she can. 'Almost fucked that up right off the start, and they seemed like a tough crowd... what would have happened had I not pulled that off?' Rook reflects, closing her eyes for a moment while rubbing the heels of her palms against them.

However, something new going on on-stage draws her attention; pushing back to her feet Rook moves to stand with Sentinel, viewing the stage in whatever manner is available (OOC: IE directly from off-stage, or via remote monitor or whatnot).
'Don't disclose the results... wait, is this not being broadcast live?' Rook asks inwardly, frowning as she takes in the scene. When Special K starts to force-lightning Silas she flinches, reaching out to tightly grasp Sentinel's arm, going pale. "Good goddess..." the young woman whispers, looking over to Greene, her nervous-fear returning rapidly.
Rook and Sentinel watch next to a stone faced Greene. He is not happy to watch one of his fighters die like that, but he abides the rules. As do all the other fighters; they are caught between grief at a fallen comrade and contempt for someone that broke their code.
When there is opportunity, Rook draws over to Greene, brows furrowed. "I get there being consequences to rule-breaking, but are they always this..." here she trails off, searching for the right word - nothing that feels strong enough comes to mind, though. "This brutal?"

Sicilia shifts uncomfortably as her scales begin to loosen, giving a flat hiss at the woman's suggestion that she sell her the skin. This is really poor timing, body! she exclaims to herself. As much as she wishes to watch the show, she can't just shed here. Even if she didn't have her underlying instincts warning her to hide and stay safe during her moments of weakness, scales soft while her old skin falls off, it was... embarrassing for her, to say the least.

Excuse me, but I'm not about to shed in public, she apologizes to the woman as she slithers out of her seat, making her way to the nearest restroom. As she makes her way there, she can't help but feel off as she makes her way to a women's restroom, hiding away in one of the stalls to shed in private, unsure of what to do with her previous skin as she gently slides out of it, trying to keep the discarded set of scales as intact as possible to reduce the mess.

Has it really already been five months? It was hard enough before finding a way to get rid of this thing, she grumbles to herself as she looks it over, wincing slightly at the coolness of the tiles against her soft, sensitive new set of scales. And I'm definitely going to need a shower after this.

The sound echoes from the crowd to Sentinel, Indeed, you are fortunate I am busy, but not for long if I can help it. he thinks as he transformed the tub into an impressive form displaying a scintillating golden dragon upon the stage to hover in place only moments before crashing with a splash. The pool of water rushes away leaving a veil of flapping fish on the surface of the stage.

With a bow and flourish he leaves the stage to stop in the eves to watch Rook finish her routine, Not too bad, but she certainly has room to improve. I wonder how she would have done if she was enhanced by my ki. he muses but he senses a tension on the stage. He watches easily as Silas is made a demonstration of.

It is a predictable demonstration; one Sentinel has made himself many times over the years. It always leads with an explanation and then punishment before the masses, A very effective demonstration and it seems this Silas earned his punishment. he thinks with barely a thought more of the man’s life as he glances over at the woman cursing then back to the stage. Yes, I could have stopped his execution as easily as I stopped the water over the stage, but what would it have accomplished saving this Silas when I could use his death as an opportunity to do that which I had done with the reporter. But, doing so now might enrage this man called Special K. Yes, later would be more prudent. The ancient golem thinks pondering how to turn this to an advantage to his reputation in this city.

Unphased by the previous events Sentinel strolls over to where Rook and Greene are speaking to comment to Rook, ”Excellent display Mrs. Rook, though you seem aware there is room to improve if you must do that again. I have an idea how if it comes to it.”, he finishes turning slightly towards Green, ”What do you request of us to perform next?”

The powers demonstrations end with an effective show of what type of authority is running the Arena. The show's host, Special K, zapping a fighter named Silas to death. The crowd is silent, some pleased to see the rules enforced and the others horrified by just how viscerally the rules are enforced. Backstage, the fighters are reminded how they will be dealt with if they break the rules; traitors get what traitors deserve. Greene turns to Rook and says just that, "Not for me to say. Better you know this now, girl, but the Arena is part of a much bigger organization. The powers that be have their own agenda, and that includes secrecy above all. If we want any slice of that action, we have to abide by that agenda."

A nosy reporter would be wise to learn that lesson, but Sicilia is dealing with much bigger concerns. She needs the entire ladies' room to roll out of her skin. When she has finished shedding, she tucks her discarded skin below the sink. As she is about to leave, she stops to look in the mirror. Her scales have changed, the edges have become darker and almost glassy, as if lined with obsidian. With this new look comes a new sense of power...

Back at Metropolis PD, Wi-Fi sits down with Zeke Hiller. She has all the info she has on his criminal background, a few DUI's, a few references in sports betting investigations and little else. Guardian Plus is unable to find anyone by the name of Silas in Zeke's file. "I'm going to check with the hospital on the other guy," he says to Wi-Fi before leaving. "You should be fine with this guy on your own."

So Wi-Fi grabs a cup of coffee before walking into the interrogation room alone. She hands the cup to Zeke and he starts to outline what he knows. "Silas... he's the reason I got in all of this in the first place. He's an old gym buddy of mine, used to spot him back when I was competing myself. Cleaned up, lost touch, and then out of the blue, he hits me up. Says he's working a new circuit, and he wants to place some bets but he needs me to be the front.

"I know what the deal is, but there's a very specific routine. He gives me the list of fights on a Monday night, so I place my bets on Tuesday for when the Arena fights go up on Wednesday, and then I collected the winnings on Thursday. We got caught almost immediately. They gave me a choice, either they'd kill me or I'd work for them. Except they didn't, I either did my job or the guy sitting next to me would do his. 'Otherwise I'd end up like my homie,' he said." The man gets quiet for a moment, dwelling on what he knows happened to Silas.

He answers a few more of Wi-Fi's questions. "I don't know how far Silas was in on this. He worked regularly as a fighter in the Arena, maybe he did some other work. He reached out to me because I wasn't involved. Shit, I don't want to be involved. I run numbers on amateur fights, dice games, and shit. I'm not some hit-man waiting to ram cars on command. All I know is that these people are deep and they know how to keep things hidden."*

Rook and Sentinel are learning just how deep the Arena runs, as Greene puts his hand on the Yellow Dragon's shoulder. "That was real interesting demonstration. We can definitely find work for someone with your talents. Not fighting, of course, but you should get several job offers in the next week. If you don't hear anything, come down to the gym and I'll get you another power demonstration. But a man with your skills, you're going to find work pretty quick here."

He turns to Rook, "Those were some sharp moves, I bet you would do good at the races. We got a guy that runs them out by the abandoned airfield, if you're interested, we could get you set up."

After that conversation, Rook, Sentinel, and Sicilia have another two hours or so to hang around the Arena.** Fighters take the stage and beat each other senseless for the criminal element in the crowds. Though now, the violence has a bitter taste. This isn't just a fight club with two brawlers duking it out for sport; there is a sense that if they don't fight, worse violence awaits them. Once the last fight is over, Special K mills around the backstage glad-handing the participants. He seems like he's in a good mood, his mask creases to cover over a giant grin. After a half an hour, the different groups of fighters start to pack up and head home. Swish leaves separate from the rest of Greene's gang, attended to by his tracksuit entourage. Everyone else gets back in the van to Warrior Sculpting Gym.

On the streets, Iron Maiden continues to race local youths down the streets of Megapolis. She balances between taking a solid lead and letting her 'competitors' show her the directions to their destination, the police station where Wi-Fi, Guardian Plus, and Transit are waitng. About 2 miles away from the police station she finally hears from Transit: Bravo Team, can anyone hear us? Rook, where is your team? Iron Maiden, are you still in contact with the others?" When she responds, Transit follows up: "Save what you know for when you get to the station. We'll debrief you here."*

Iron Maiden is glad contact has been established and responds, "I will be there in a few minutes. Has anyone triangulated the source of the radio interference?"

There is an edge to the interference, therefore there must be a center. It might have more than one transmission point, that might throw things off, but they should be able to track where it strongest.

Chastity is only a few minutes away from the Station already by the time contact is made. She has continued to pause to make marks. She hopes that will allow the police to quickly follow the trail.

She finally reaches the station and says, "Please ask Wifi if she can download the information from my bodycam, hopefully it has usable pictures. While she does that, I will be debriefed so that we can get the information all in the right hands as soon as possible."

She will, in her debriefing, tell them that the place they were last seen by her was entering a garage adjacent to a three-building corporate campus with the letters KLCD on the center building. She will also explain how she marked the way back as she traveled with blue marker dye from her suit so that it will, hopefully, be easy to find the way to the compound.

Cleaned up? that takes more courage than stepping into a ring or putting on an omega suit. she thinks as she listens.

Easy to see how they caught them when they place bets before the fights happened. If these people are connected they have a stake in the money outside the arena. Hmmm, an angle to find out the financial details. the digital and physical money path should be traceable. likely cash since it does not leave a trail. It would take time and work but will need to act fast. So much for celebrating after the mission for me. she thinks.

I would do that myself. Wi-Fi did appreciate the 'kill traitors' to make a point rule. It was how her old vigilante group was. Many groups did that and the mutant never questioned it. It was easy to see Hiller's fate. A fate she would agree with, But one her Uncle would not. He was always willing to give a second chance. Always willing to give a person who had a no matter how far gone an opportunity to change. Even at the risk of his own life. She never thought of herself as a hero like her uncle. Perhaps today she could change that? In times like these, she hated making promises.

"Well, that complicates things," she said aloud pauses taps her radio, "Transit, we have what we need, cut the interrogation room feed, we're done in here. Also relay to Guardian plus that the passenger is to be taken in soon as he healthy enough to travel." she radioed Transit, then telepathically contacted Hiller on the off chance she was still being recorded. The man was an ex-fighter. This was no way to go down and he could be useful.

"I am a telepath, you need not worry about me intruding on your thoughts other than responses to my questions. I want to help you out of this situation. Would you be willing to move to a new city with a new identity and the works?" she telepathically asked.

Better you know this now, girl, but the Arena is part of a much bigger organization. The powers that be have their own agenda, and that includes secrecy above all. If we want any slice of that action, we have to abide by that agenda."
A nod from 'Steel Seraph', along with a grim look. "Understood," she murmurs in a low tone, before shifting her gaze to Sentinel and hoping that he can see the worry in her eyes. After drawing in a slow breath, the winged heroine looks back to Greene, brows furrowed in thought. "Maybe I shouldn't ask, but... who are the powers-that-be? If there is any chance that I might end up doing some sort of work, or entertaining I guess, here it would be nice to know who is looming over my shoulder..."
GM wrote:He turns to Rook, "Those were some sharp moves, I bet you would do good at the races. We got a guy that runs them out by the abandoned airfield, if you're interested, we could get you set up."
The comment, and the question that follows it, draws a seriously curious look from 'Steel Seraph'; an almost bird-like headtilt and a raised brow as a ghost of a smile forms across her lips. "Flying races, eh? I have to admit that sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than cage-fighting," she replies with a soft laugh. "Is it all about speed, or are the points for style? Maybe an obstacle course?"
GM wrote:After that conversation, Rook, Sentinel, and Sicilia have another two hours or so to hang around the Arena.** Fighters take the stage and beat each other senseless for the criminal element in the crowds. Though now, the violence has a bitter taste. This isn't just a fight club with two brawlers duking it out for sport; there is a sense that if they don't fight, worse violence awaits them.
Although the bloody, and potentially deadly, fights leave her feeling somewhat ill, Rook does pay close attention to them, hoping to glean some idea of the combatant's abilities, in the chance that they might have to face off with them at some point - she pays particularly close attention to the Atlantean, seeming to outside observers to have a particular fascination.

Once the fights are over, Rook does indeed mingle with the others, putting on a friendly and curious demeanor while being careful not to be overly-friendly or overly-curious - mostly hoping to get names of whichever fighters, bookies and other staff for future references, while occasionally giving low-key congratulations to some of the winners. If possible, she'll make a point of talking to the Atlantean again - assuming that she is around - to introduce herself (as Natasha rather than Steel Seraph), the friendly-ness more genuine than with the others.

Once they are all rounded up to leave, Rook takes a spot at the back of the van as she had earlier, so that she can keep her wings out of the way; while they fold up pretty nicely all considering, she has over the years done her best to make them unobtrusive to the point of it being instinctual now. For the most part she remains quiet during the trip back, largely so that she can pay attention to potential conversations - she doesn't know if or when the jamming will go away, isn't sure of how much her hidden suit-cam will pick up, so does her best to pick up what she can.

(OOC: I'm assuming that Rook and the rest of her infiltration group receives the message from Transit - if not, disregard the next section)
GM-Transit wrote:"Bravo Team, can anyone hear us? Rook, where is your team? Iron Maiden, are you still in contact with the others?"
Having Transit's voice suddenly 'in her head' (via whatever clandestine communication device she is using), Rook straightens up, glancing around the van slowly then peeking out the front window, trying to determine where they might be - not familiar with the city, she looks for landmarks or immobile objects that really stand out. As much as she'd like to reply back however, she maintains silence until she can be certain that she won't be overheard.

Sicilia is mortified at the state she has to leave the restroom in. After cleaning up as best she can, having to leave the massive skin behind awkwardly shoved underneath the sinks, she finds herself grateful to have had the place to herself for the entire process. If anyone had walked in, I don't know what I would have done...

With her embarrassment out of the way, she is distracted briefly by the new look her scales seem to have taken, along with the new sense of power within her. She stares at herself, examining the change and familiarizing herself with her new look. This is certainly new... Rather than push on the power, as curious as she is, she's also cognizant trying to figure out new abilities in a place that could very easily become hostile to her was likely a bad idea.

Rather, she makes her way back out, soon finding she has missed the majority of her team's performances, chastising herself mentally for taking so long. Reaching out with her mind, she attempts to make contact with Rook. I've been away from the main floor for a while now, I hope I didn't miss too much. I had a personal situation to deal with, I'll explain more when we're not stuck here.

For her two hours, she does her best to learn more about the people here, memorizing the faces and names, and if people are open enough, what they do.

On the trip back, Sicilia will begin relaying any information she's managed to pick up to Sentinel and Rook mentally, making sure to not broadcast her thoughts to the others in the car, though she will pause if any audible conversations pick up.

Sentinel watches the fight listening absently to Mr. Greene speaking of the organization's clandestine nature. Noticing Rooks look and again finding his uncharacteristic concern for his group says, ”It will be fine. There is nothing special here to worry about.” he says to Mr. Green meeting Rooks eyes to show he was talking to her foremost. But despite the conversation between them, he finds himself more often than not staring off at the man who insulted him, Lame… he plays over in his mind. The Emperor has great respect for those who perform in the arts. Performances and even martial displays such as these fights rank equally to him as those less physically oriented like painters and carpenters. …and this man has the gall to insult performers? he thought staring lost in thought considering how he could humiliate the man.
The hand on him is unaccustomed to Sentinel, ”Mr. Green, do not lay hands on my person.” he reactively stated his voice commanding. Catching himself he gathers himself and turns to face Mr. Green. ”My apologies, I do not desire to be touched.” he says feigning apologies. ”Work.” Sentinel says letting his displeasure of the word hang in the air between himself and Mr. Green I don’t take offers of work. The disrespect has no end here? he thinks.

In a situation where one's needs are few, there isn’t much that motivates. By such logic, a cat with ample food and shelter will not wander. A man in no need of food, sleep, time, or fear of death would seem to be motivated not at all. But people have a way of defying logic. Pride, ego always gets in the way of one's needs. Men have turned blindly down roads to their doom over such. Sentinel was not immune to his own ego. Sentinel contains his reaction to set them in their place. Looking back over the area, That time would come sooner than they may expect. he thinks as he boards the van to leave.

Post Fight Interview
Megapolis
Date: Monday, April 6th, 2043
Weather: Clear sky, warm (66 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 11:15 pm

A blue woman walks into a police station. No, that's not a joke, but the police officer at the front desk has a good laugh when Iron Maiden identifies herself as a member of the Omegas. The front desk officer is a heavyset middle-aged man with a blonde brush mustache, the name on his badge reads Greevey. He tips his cap back and says, "Lemme guess, you tampered with the bodycam?"

Iron Maiden explains what happened, and Sgt. Greevey shakes his head.

"Rule number one, never tamper with your body cam. It automatically turns on what it senses body heat, tampering with it only means bad news." Greevey jerks a finger at the coffee machine. "You don't want to end up like Officer Rashomon over there."

A skinny young officer with a dark bowl cut and wispy mustache near the coffee machine mumbles, "My name's not Rashomon."

"Officer Rashomon here was resolving a domestic that involved the honorable Councilman Schiff's wife. Decided to turn off his bodycam so there wouldn't be any incriminating footage of Mrs. Schiff to leak on the interwebs. And the next thing you know she ends up with a broken trachea. Officer Rashomon claims that a little bird did it."

"It was a whiffle ball. Some kids were playing in the yard next door."

"Uh-huh. That's what he says. Kids claim they were in the backyard. Who's telling the truth? Who's lying? We'll never know, cuz rookie turned off his bodycam. We can download your data and put it with other intel. You should head to the locker room and go take a shower. Use the Silkwood soap, that'll remove the blue dye."

Iron Maiden goes and washes off while Wi-Fi finishes her interview with Zeke Hiller. She uses her telepathy to make the alleged operative of the Arena an offer, give up more information, maybe testify in the future, and go into witness protection. He gives her a nod. Guardian Plus walks in with a clipboard. He goes over a set of forms, which will be used to take down Hiller's official witness statement. He begins to write down all the details he knows about the Arena.

In the Arena, Rook and Sentinel are watching the fights from backstage with Greene. Rook asks several questions which he answers with a grim frankness.
Rook wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:32 pm"Understood," she murmurs in a low tone, before shifting her gaze to Sentinel and hoping that he can see the worry in her eyes.
"You shouldn't ask. You're told exactly what you need to know and nothing else."

Greene lets that statement linger for a moment, and then makes his offer to Sentinel. The Yellow Dragon gives him a curt response. Greene stiffens and says, "I don't think you understand how this works. Your show was way more serious than anything that's going to go down in those fights. You take on some big jobs and you'll climb the ladder real quick."

He then makes a similar offer to Rook.
Rook wrote: Mon Feb 22, 2021 5:32 pm""Flying races, eh? I have to admit that sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than cage-fighting," she replies with a soft laugh. "Is it all about speed, or are the points for style? Maybe an obstacle course?"
"It's a little of all the above. It is a race, but much like the Arena, you want to work the crowd. Make fans, get sponsors. Get hired for real jobs." Greene smiles and then goes to check on his fighters. Swish's handlers say that he is going to leave early and do some rehab in his home gym. The Atlantean warms up for her fight by drinking a pouch of a thick red liquid and then punching a hole in a wall. She then proceeds to do the reverse to her opponent, a muscular tattooed man with buzzed and dyed pink hair called Indigo. The skinny woman punches a hole into the Indigo's torso, and then lick the blood of her hand. She gives a red flecked smiled, her black hair matted against her brow. The crowd cheers, and Rook politely applauds. She notices that the Atlantean's form is flawless, she is a trained fighter and seems to prefer melee combat.

Up in the gallery, Sicilia has been spending more time watching the crowd than the fights. However, she does perk up when the Atlantean finishes off her opponent with one punch. The woman sitting next to her is jeering at Indigo, calling him a 'punk ass bitch' that 'never showed up to a fair fight in his weak life' and bleeds 'watered down grenadine'. Her name is Robin Ri*, and she is a delight. Indigo is her ex, and she came to the Arena just to watch him lose against the Atlantean (and bet heavily on the fight). She is a great companion for the night, providing a running commentary on all the fighters, members in the crowd and their criminal backgrounds, and how Indigo cries when eating brunch. By the end of the night, Sicilia can identify a half dozen of the people in the Arena crowd and knows which ones are working as bookies. One thing she also learns is that Greene is the only bookie to run a stable of fighters.

At the end of the night, Rook, Sentinel, and Sicilia are dropped off in front of the gym. Greene's van drives off, and Rook is able to use her radio when the van is out of sight. She calls for a pick-up, and an unmarked police cruiser picks them up in 15 minutes. They are taken back to the police station.

Around the same time, Wi-Fi walks out of the interrogation room. Guardian gives Wi-Fi a fist bump. "Solid work. Getting Hiller to flip is just the first step in taking down the Arena. We build our case witness by witness, we gather intel, and work our way up until we nail the guys at the top." He looks at the clock. "Geez, long day. You should get some rest. Our captain has made arrangements with a local hotel. We'll take your team their ASAP."

Transit opens a portal to a TV in a hotel lobby. It's not a four star resort, but each room has its own coffee maker and there's a continental breakfast buffet in the morning. Guardian Plus will meet you in the lobby at 8:30.

YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN UNTIL THE MORNING, WHAT DO YOU DO?

At first, Sicilia is uncomfortable with Robin Ri's interaction, but quickly finds the woman an incredibly useful source of (probably biased) information. She takes note of everything she tells her, sparsely at first, then more frequently towards the end subtly encouraging the woman to share her thoughts about the crowd and fighters with the large snake. With so much information given to her, and without any way to take notes due to how they had to infiltrate, Sicilia does her best to memorize what she can, learning of all of the bookies and a half dozen others to boot. I'll have to get as much of this corroborated as I can later, she thinks to herself during one of the woman's rants about Indigo, Find out what is useful and what is just baseless bias or rumor.

Thankfully for the snake, she has enough experience in journalism to sort much of the information on the spot, focusing on the more important information, and graciously accepts Robin's card, assuring her that she'd be sure to keep her in mind should she need something.

--

The trip back is slightly nerve-wracking for the snake, who is very glad no one comments on her slight change of features, the Italian serpent still able to feel the new well of power within that she has yet to tap.

Once Greene's van is out of sight, she will immediately let out a mental sigh of relief, her companions able to hear the expression in their minds as she continues, That could have gone much worse. I need a notepad, I have many notes to take. She will give a brief summary of her findings to the others on the police-ride to the station, and upon arrival will retrieve her notepad and immediately begin scratching down her findings.

At the hotel, before they separate to their rooms, she will hail Wi-Fi mentally, slithering up to the team lead to speak to her. Wi-Fi! If I may ask something of you before you leave, she asks if Wi-Fi comes to talk with her, a touch of nervousness in the mental message to the fellow psychic, I didn't get much of a read on the fighters in the arena, but I got plenty of information on those in the crowd. I'll be doing my own research, but could you look this over tonight so we can verify what we can online? I'd like to have a solid submission to give to the police, and not just some scribbled notes of heresay, and I've got something else I need to investigate tonight as well.

As she "speaks," she passes a copy of her notes to the other woman, giving a hiss of appreciation if Wi-Fi agrees to help, or an understanding snap of her tongue if not. Thanks for listening to me. I'll see you in the morning.

--

With that, she'll part ways with the team lead, heading to her room, where she immediately makes her way to the restroom, staring at herself in the mirror, giving herself a much longer chance to investigate her changes.

She closes her eyes, focusing on that new power she feels in herself, tapping into it and feeling it grow and spread along her body in just a moment - along with a creak of the floor, causing her to open her eyes and rear back in surprise at her new look. What in the-?!

In the mirror, she finds not her usual serpentine self, but rather a serpent made of jet black scales, her amber eyes replaced by gleaming jade jewels as she stares at herself, having to move about to prove that this reflection was, indeed, still the snake. As she shifts about, she winces at the sounds of the flooring beneath her, glancing down and quickly realizing just how much heavier she was, even if she was about the same size. After a few more minutes of inspection of her new self, she tries to push the sensation back inside of herself, and watches as the obsidian-coloring her scales have taken retreats to the edges, restoring her old colors, and a blink reveals her eyes have returned to their normal hue. That is... certainly not what I was expecting, she thinks to herself.

For a couple of hours, she will look up information on the criminals and bookies she learned about, to verify what Robin Ri told her, and before going to bed look up heroes who seem to have a similar ability to the one she just manifested, taking her time to try and learn about her power before curling up to sleep, pulling the blankets off of the bed to sleep in a soft pile on the ground.

--

In the morning, she will return the blankets and pillows of the bed back to where they belong, a pang of guilt running through her for the poor job her TK does at tucking the covers back into place. She is mildly disappointed in the continental breakfast, and her request for "about fifteen pounds of meat" doesn't exactly work, so she instead chooses to simply go an extra day without eating before gorging herself when she gets back to Omega HQ.

As such, she is just a touch cranky when Guardian Plus meets the group in the lobby, though thankfully her sour expression is lost on her uninterpretable serpentine features. She simply stares at the man, pushing back her brief flare of a wish to strike and consume him, her predatory instincts acting up just a touch in her hunger.

--

Research: 1d100: [19] = 19 / 85% - Verify her information on the criminals, and look up heroes with a power she can relate to her own and learn more about.

The front desk officer is a heavyset middle-aged man with a blonde brush mustache, the name on his badge reads Greevey. He tips his cap back and says, "Lemme guess, you tampered with the bodycam?"
Chastity explained, "Some of my other systems, notably my communications systems, were shut down. I was trying to figure out if the cam was still working and if I could use it to get clearer pictures of my location."
CHIMERA wrote: Sat Feb 27, 2021 7:08 amIron Maiden explains what happened, and Sgt.

Chastity makes a note: I should suggest a system status readout option be added to the suit, possibly as part of an HUD system, well perhaps there is one and I just need to FIND it...

She does follow the instructions about getting the dye off, which gets most of it out, though her hair retains a bluish tinge and there are a few blue patches in areas that are hard to properly scrub. Hopefully her healing abilities can deal with however much of it she breathed in.

If she overhears the comment about building cases, she will reflect briefly about the Amercian system of justice and how they need proof beyond a reasonable doubt...which is not always the case elsewhere. They are also after the person behind things, which can sometimes mean leaving the small fry to operate so you can catch the big fish. This is why Century Station is so strict about only allowing deputized supers to operate, because not following proper rules of evidence can result in villains going free.
OOC Comments
Note: The new characters need the training class that gives basic police skills.
She will speak with the others once they are back together, "I managed to follow the van you were in to the garage where it parked and have presented what evidence I have to the police. I got rather blue in the face from trying to make sure I got pictures of where you stopped and the nearby area. I wanted to stop and help the crash victims, but if I had I would have lost you. I know it was the right thing to do in the long run, but it is sometimes hard to do long term rather than short term right."

She frowns, and asks, "Are we supposed to talk to each other about what we learned, or aree we only supposed to talk to the detectives?" She is not entirely clear on how some things work.

Location: Unnamed hotel, presumably in Megapolis
Condition: Healthy, tired, nervous, missing Diana

Perception 33%: 1d100: [97] = 97

JIC D100: 1d100: [84] = 84

Not wanting to take any chances, Rook drops off the SD card for her suits bodycam with Wi-Fi, trusting the Bravo team leader to know what to do with it. The young woman looks tired and somewhat apprehensive after the long and potentially deadly day - a lot had been heard and seen, and she'll need time to process. After dropping off the card, Rook goes to change out of her supersuit into something more civilian in nature, doing her best to conceal her wings - the huge limbs are not subtle under normal circumstances, and she'd prefer to avoid too many looks, not to mention the chances of being remembered.

Being transported to a hotel was an unexpected delight, though she would have preferred Omega's base, if only to spend some time with her daughter and sleep in her own bed. Not that its been hers for that long, its still 'home'. More or less. With a soft groan she flops out onto the bed, on her front of course, burying her face into the pillow for the moment. 'What a long, long day,' she sighs to herself, images of the events at the studio going through her mind. 'The brutality on display, not to mention the way that one guy was punished... how do we fight something like that?' the young heroine asks herself, eyes closing tightly.

Shifting onto her side, Tasha stretches slowly, letting out a groan. "Goddess I miss laying on my back," the blonde grumbles under her breath, doing her best to crick her lower back. A low growl reminds her that she is hungry - she takes a few minutes to order something for dinner via a local meal-delivery-service, one of those 'meal for 1' packages from an Asian restaurant. With that taken care of, Tasha sits up so that she can pull her socks off, wiggling tired toes a few times then working to unbind her wings and giving them a shake.

"I should give Wi-Fi a report tonight, before the PD debrief me tomorrow... she might have some insight on some of the technical things that I doubt I'd be able to answer myself," the blonde woman muses out loud, a habit from her tweens years, while carefully checking over the wings for damaged feathers. As she works on this, her mind goes back over the day a second time, the fights in particular; a shiver rolls through her again as she recalls the unbridled violence. "Dammit... why did I have to find her attractive?" she whispers under her breath, feeling her stomach clench.

Letting out a growl, Sasha irritably flings one of those socks across the room, the balled up cloth bouncing off of the opposite wall and ended up on the cozy-looking recliner that she had dumped her jacket on earlier. The young woman stares at it for a long moment then pushes herself up and pads into the extremely tiny kitchenette - a single counter with a coffee maker and microwave oven, plus an empty ice bucket and several complimentary mugs - squatting down to pull open the bar-fridge. 'I know these things are supposed to be pricey, but I have a tidy bank account right now... eff it!' tumbles through her thoughts as she reaches for a can of ginger ale, hoping it will help settle her stomach....

"If he lives long enough." she said, "They don't strike me as the forgiving type to traitors. You don't keep secrets being nice. As a vigilante a few years ago, my group had to deal with a traitor. I didn't pull the trigger though. Most of the Vigilantes tend to use a mob-style execution system. Leave the body to be seen by others as a warning. My guess is your fighting organizers likely think the same way." she answers with a shrug. she also was not a fan of traitors and did not really object to the execution of traitors then. nowadays she was a bit more compassionate. That and government teams did not have their field operatives do the deed. They had hit squads and specialists with training to kill metas. They are likely kept separate to do that without worrying about emotional attachments.

"On to more pleasant thoughts, thanks for the arrangements for the motel. I am sure the team will appreciate it. If you could get all the intell you have on the organization we are after to me I would appreciate it. It will give me something more to work with. I am already in the dark enough as it is with the car accident putting us out of the chase. My team already has done most of the heavy lifting and is getting more practical intell that would have given me a lot more info as well. As it is I feel like they did more work than I did. I'll send a copy of the footage from the Omega suits soon as I get it from the team." she pauses, "Omega training includes basic police training. That and how to fill out paperwork. my instict is to be more proactive and not in a room with one light." she adds with a grin.

'Yes, that would be best. So we are aware of facts and do not contradict each other. and to be honest I like to know how we are doing in the field. We may work with other teams and the Police but we are still omega's first. I'll need the suits footage and the ssd it is on. I will send a copy the Metro PD myself so they don't edit out parts."

"Happy to help with research, and we certainly will look into the audience. they pay the bills and could lead to the back of the house and financial part of the organization. Plus behavior of the observers are a big hint we can look at." she responded, "I'll take a look after I bring the team up to speed."

If she still has it, Chastity will give the SD card to Wifi.

She will describe what she did after she parted ways with Wifi, "After I got out and finished transforming on the fly to a Maidenmobile, I kept close behind the van, where they could not see me in their mirrors. I hated not being able to help out with the accident, but my assignment was to find out where they were going. When the radio cut out, I was not sure if any other suit systems were affected, I tried to find out, but got a facefull of blue paint for my troubles. I think I was near some kind of broadcast tower in an industrial park, possibly the signal from that was altered to make it interfere with other signals. The letters on the building were KLCD."

She adds, "As I am not great at navigation, I asked some locals for help getting back, and marked the way with blue paint from my suit so it should be easy to find."

She sighs, "Leaving hurt people behind sure does not feel heroic, but it was the only way to complete the assignment."

Morning Jog Your Memory
Megapolis
Date: Tuesday, April 7th, 2043
Weather: Light rain (61 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 8:30 am

At the hotel, the Omegas decide to share data before calling it a night. There is no rest for heroes, or at least no rest before midnight. Sicilia uses the hotel's wifi to confirm what she learned from Ms. Ri. What she find matches up - one bookie was arrested for assault at a casino on the riverfront; the Hertz Hog was a champion boxer in prison while serving time for embezzlement; a few other petty instances - and within 30 minutes she has compiled a detailed report on some of the fighters and bookies at the Arena. At some point in the night, she goes into the bathroom and starts to test the limits of her new powers. The more she focuses the darker and brilliant her scales get until she has transformed into a smokey obsidian.

Meanwhile, Wi-Fi spends her evening going over the video from Iron Maiden and Rook's body cams. She doesn't watch all of it, but she makes it through four hours of footage before crashing. She sees a few familiar faces from the first Arena video she watched, as well as a few new fighters.* She does not see any monsters or demons. Likewise, if anyone is using psionics it is not noticeable.

Meanwhile, Rook is doing the most important work, getting the most out of her night of peace and quiet. Room service is having a busy night and accidentally sends her the wrong order. Instead of nondescript Asian food, she gets Marge's hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a slice of chocolate chip cheesecake. Making the most of the situation, she cracks open a bottle of tequila and puts on a pay-per-view movie.

The following morning everyone meets Guardian Plus in the hotel lobby. He is holding a small plastic plate filled with microwaveable mini-quiche. He points to the continental breakfast buffet next to the front desk. He pops a quiche in his mouth and says, "Weird as it sounds, microwave mini-quiche are the unofficial breakfast of the city. Go help yourself!"

While the Omegas enjoy some breakfast, he goes to the front desk and looks at the balance MPD owes. "The movie was how much?!?! And how many bottles?!?!" He throws his hands in the air and then slumps over before handing a police-issued credit card.

He then walks up to the group and growls, "Alright who put you up to this? Was it Transit? Or did Agent Steele tell you that everyone loves to prank Guardian Plus by running up the hotel bill? Well, it wasn't funny when Whiz Kid did it. Or Overdrive. Or even when it was Ichi-Ban." He points his finger at each member of the team one by one as he names another hero that seems to have pranked him before. It's hard to tell if he is joking or genuinely pissed, his smile has a rictus-like tilt that runs between cheerful and threatening. "I will get you back for this."

Then, as if to suggest he is joking, he grabs another quiche before walking to the lobby's large TV. The local weatherman points to the five day forecast. Transit has turned Friday into a portal that Guardian Plus walks through followed by the Omegas. In the briefing room, Transit's bank of TV's is showing a variety of local morning hosts laughing and drinking coffee; the joke's on Guardian Plus. A few detectives, including Logan and Hoyle are sitting around the table.

"So, we our guests from Century Station got some good intel last night," Guardian Plus begins. "I was a little concerned with why these guys were hosting a fight night on a Monday, but now we know why. Wi-Fi interrogated a witness, and they explained to us that the Arena records their shows in advance, putting them on the dark web 24 hours later. Detective Smoof, I want you working with this witness to get more details on the gambling aspect of this case.

"Video from Rook and Sentinel's body cams also revealed that they are shooting these fights in a TV studio. Iron Maiden says she followed them the KLCD studios. As some of you know, there are two problems with that: 1) Channel 28's lot is huge with about a dozen different buildings, which leads to 2) that we'll have a tough time getting a warrant without anything else more specific."

He looks up at the Omegas, "Anything else you want to add? All of you have been in the field and seen the Arena's operation up close in some capacity. Anything else we might know?"

WHAT DO YOU DO?

* Wi-Fi might recognize any new fighters she encounters based on what she saw, but she does not get any other useful intelligence.

Though she'd been looking forward to the Asian food, a hot fudge sundae and cheesecake was pretty great, and helped to relax her after the somewhat stressful day; Sasha did end up ordering in the other food as well though, eventually, which wouldn't have helped with the bill. Tequila was new to her - not really a drinker, she decided to give it a try and did eventually get a little tipsy. Towards the end of the night, the young woman used her tablet to contact Omega HQ to talk to her daughter, and make sure that she was doing ok while mommy was out of town.

Eventually, sleep did claim her. As for breakfast well... quiche was a favorite dish of hers, so the winged heroine loaded up on a variety of types, nibbling on them even when they got back to the HQ.

Rook hesitates, glancing to Wi-Fi before clearing her throat softly. "These guys are pretty serious... as you saw on my cam, they ended up killing a fighter who broke one of their rules. It left the other fighters nervous, or at least that is how it seemed to me - the fights were quick and brutal. I tried to get some information on who was behind the entire scene, but got shot down pretty quickly unfortunately," she starts, then pauses to nibble on quiche while waiting to see if G+ had any questions.

"I did make a pretty good impression on them it seems, so it's likely that I will be invited back, if you need me to go undercover again," here she hesitates again, then shrugs. "Fortunately they didn't seem interested in my being a fighter, but I was told about how they do racing as well, elsewhere," here Rook starts to trail off, then perks up. "Oh right, another thing - they had jamming going on during the latter part of the trip, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was something similar at the studio."

Sicilia watches with a mixture of curiosity and jealousy as the rest of her team gets to enjoy a selection of meals for their breakfast, not able to eat any of it, nor even imagine how much of it tastes. Lucky omnivores, she thinks to herself with just a touch of want, At least I get to eat all my stuff raw if I want. With the thought of consuming an extra-large rabbit lodged in her thoughts, she waits silently for the others to finish up before joining them through Transit's portal, a touch too irritable at the moment to respond to Guardian's joke/threat.

As they gather for their meeting, Sicilia notes on her notepad (So much easier when I can write it all down!) the comments Guardian Plus makes. As Rook speaks however...

Sicilia gives a hiss, before exclaiming, They killed someone who broke their rules? If snakes could frown, the giant serpent would certainly be doing so right now. That seems extreme, but these are criminals we're dealing with. No witness and all that fun stuff, right? The snake shifts atop her coils uncomfortably. Damn, I must have missed that while I was molting. Robin Ri could have told me, or at least saved me a piece... She halts her dark thinking, glancing away as she realized she had been staring rather predatorily at Rook during her thoughts. Ugh. I need to eat.

More important things were at hand (tail?) however, and once Rook finishes her explanations, Sicilia sits up more upright on her coils, calling out to everyone mentally to grab their attention, I have quite a few pieces of intel I should hope you all find juicy. Trust the reporter to do the dirt-digging, after all! She gives a dry, mental chuckle in everyone's mind, pushing past her current sour demeanor to more enjoy giving her report. Just like a live read on an article to the boss!

She pulls out her notes and compiled data on the fighters and bookies, explaining what she found for each one, connecting them to known persons and crimes, showing her sources and generally being enthused enough about her tasks that she almost completely forgot about the emptiness in her stomach. Finally, she ends with pulling out Robin Ri's calling card, sliding it on the table towards the center.

This woman, Robin Ri, gave me a lot of accurate information, which is where I managed to get a start on all of the research. We could work her into an inside woman, she was only there to watch her ex get scrapped. It was the one who fought Atlantis, she notes. Could tell you waaay more stories about that man than is relevant. She went off on him for quite a few tangents. Regardless, we could be discreet with her and keep getting good intel if we play our cards right.

"Silicia, I can see their reasoning with how they deal with traitors. When I was a less enlightened person I may have agreed with that idea. I would like to think I have evolved since then. Rook, your right about the Draconian security. Which makes me wonder why they let Gathe live. Probably to be a message to others that might attempt infiltration." she comments.

"Now to the issues at hand, we have an organization with many heads. I don't see taking out one head as dealing a final blow. I would not expect any of the satellite groups to know who is the head. Let's focus on taking down the fighting ring first and get what intell we can on the air race as a secondary objective. Maybe you can ask further? choice to do so is yours, Rook. I would like a crack at the air race as well if we can. but the risk is ultimately yours so I will trust your judgment. Hell, I might extend my stay and see what I can find. Maybe get a few new supply sources and contacts as well." she stated. She would accomplish anything in Century Station given the fact they considered her to be a comedy routine.

"Transit, GP can we get any of that footage on that air race? Not sure which group it is but we have a few faces and names we can use to narrow down the list. a few of the flyers in the fighting Ring might be involved in the air race. That would be a good start. Silicia can give you a hand with that maybe. Since I can't operate in the field I will help with that personally. adding a new person at this point might jeopardize the operation." she looks at GP briefly, "unless you have a plan for that already." she adds expecting to be shot down again on a lead because it seemed to be too much trouble or seemingly impossible.

"Good idea, let's work with Robin Ri into this plan. you and she have a dialog going. Same with the one offered the air Race invitation." Wi-Fi looks at the card and commits it to memory and takes a shot of it on her computer or phone."That studio is likely a point the show gets sent out. Directly by handing copies out around to various executives or workers under the table is the most secure way. As for that jamming certain equipment can be rigged to do that. We track who has access to that and we might have more there."

"Sentinel, I will need your help on something. we can talk later about that." she said looking for food without Dairy in it. the best way to have someone disappear was to fake a death. and having a person able to raise the dead was a good insurance policy. One she was not shy to use.

"Speaking of problems we need to locate the arena and find out if they use just one arena. It would not be surprising to find they use a few and rotate them to avoid being tracked and before anyone says, 'but they use the same set...' it is easy to make a set up on the fly. Green screens, wood, and cardboard are not that expensive. So time is of the essence. So any ideas on that?" she finishes still looking for something without Dairy, settling on toast and orange juice.

Chastity is at a bit of a loss as to what to do, but tries to think, "Those air races, they pretty much need to be held outside. I suppose a large stadium might work, but you need room to get up to speed and not many buildings would have that much room. That means someone will have seen them, if they are outside, or there will be things like power use at a stadium. Similarly, on the TV studio, you need a place big enough for the fights and the audience, and one that is not in use for anything else. There will need to be power in use at a studio that is not supposed to be in production, or else a false item in the production schedule that provides a cover."

Chastity thinks, I wonder what would happen if an outsider tried to barge into the air races? I can fly, but am not all that skillful at it, so better not try it.

What else? Chastity adds, "I made friendly contact with a group of skateboarders, perhaps I could find them again and see if I could learn any information about the races."

The Police are probably already on staking out the garage, so no need to mention that.

She does note, "Putting up and taking down a set is a task a gang of roadies can do in a couple of hours, Wifi is right that it does not need to be the same studio every time."

Arriving at the motel via Transit portal Sentinel wanders around the room idly in the thought of tomorrow's debrief, This room is useless to me, and plain. Painfully plain. he disappointingly recalls his last mussing of his lack of needs and a room is one of such things. Calling forth a portal against a wall he steps through to a dimensional room nearly empty save a painting, a golden throne at one end, and a few odds and ends strewn over the floor. The irony is lost on him for the time being. Sentinel strolls over and sits upon the throne to think and count down the time by watching the portal entrance for activity in the motel room signaling Transit’s return in the morning.

At the prompting to relay their observations, he recounts his own observations omitting his anger at the heckler. ”Ms. Wi-fi, there is nothing I can recount that has not been declared.” he says motioning a stone hand indicating the others gathered. Accept the heckler… he thinks recalling the man’s puny face as his hand comes up to rest upon a white rabbit that mysteriously appears in his arms. [Summon Animal].

”Ms. Wi-fi , as for this news station, perhaps Mary Marsh from WCTV in Century Station may be able to shed some light on the station here?”, he suggests pointing suddenly at a nearby T.V. and abruptly dropping the rabbit to scamper off.

Turning at the mention of his call sign Sentinel turns to Wi-fi, ”Ms. Wi-fi, there seems to be nothing else pressing at the moment. We can speak now. Is this privately or publicly?” he says returning the question.

Chastity says, "If we are discussing personal issues, I would like to bring my ally Gearwolf here. There were time I was thinking he would have been useful to have around."

She is thinking, Gearwolf is probably too distinctive to have out when we are out and about undercover, unfortunately.

She considers what the best way to continue friendly contact with the skateboarders is. Perhaps building a board like nothing they have ever seen, a flying board should be easy enough to make...she can see if she can find the parts. Mind, she would not have the sense of balance to use it herself, but that is kind of the point, she would be looking for someone who could.

Debriefing and Next Steps of Operation
Megapolis Police Department, Porto Hill Station
Date: Tuesday, April 7th, 2043
Weather: Light rain (61 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 9:15 am

Bravo Team is sitting around a table with the detectives on the Arena Task Force. Guardian is standing at the head arranging notes on a white board as everyone provide their thoughts on what they saw the previous night at the fights:
Rook wrote:"These guys are pretty serious... as you saw on my cam, they ended up killing a fighter who broke one of their rules. It left the other fighters nervous, or at least that is how it seemed to me - the fights were quick and brutal. I tried to get some information on who was behind the entire scene, but got shot down pretty quickly unfortunately."
Sicilia wrote:They killed someone who broke their rules? That seems extreme, but these are criminals we're dealing with. No witness and all that fun stuff, right?
Sentinel wrote:"Ms. Wi-fi, there is nothing I can recount that has not been declared."
Wi-Fi wrote:"Silicia, I can see their reasoning with how they deal with traitors. When I was ... Which makes me wonder why they let Gathe live. Probably to be a message to others that might attempt infiltration."
Guardian Plus nods in agreement. "Good question about Gathe, but it does track with what we know about the Arena already. The people involved are highly disciplined and protect the inner-workings of their organization above all else. It took us months to confirm that this thing even existed, and now we know why, they aren't broadcasting live. It means that they lose a lot of money on gambling, but that is also how they managed to stay under the radar as long as they have. They control the output of their shows to a greater degree than we ever imagined. Your undercover work was an important first step. We'll need to see how much further we can infiltrate their operation."
Rook wrote:"I did make a pretty good impression on them it seems, so it's likely that I will be invited back, if you need me to go undercover again. Fortunately they didn't seem interested in my being a fighter, but I was told about how they do racing as well, elsewhere. Oh right, another thing - they had jamming going on during the latter part of the trip, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was something similar at the studio."
Iron Maiden wrote:"Those air races, they pretty much need to be held outside. I suppose a large stadium might work, but you need room to get up to speed and not many buildings would have that much room. That means someone will have seen them, if they are outside, or there will be things like power use at a stadium. There will need to be power in use at a studio that is not supposed to be in production, or else a false item in the production schedule that provides a cover."
When Rook mentions races, all the detectives' jaws drop. Guardian Plus takes a step away from the conference table in disbelief. "Air races? That's new to us," he says. He paces around the table thinking about this new information. "We didn't realize that this was just one of several operations these guys are running. It raises a lot more questions about what we're investigating. You're right that the races would probably be outdoors, Iron Maiden, but that doesn't narrow things down. Megapolis sees a lot of small aircraft traffic between three airfields that deal with private crafts and the drone enthusiasts that meet in the state parks. We can't just simply see where super-powered beings are flying." He glances back to Rook, "Check in with your contact about the races and see what you can find."
Wi-Fi wrote:"Now to the issues at hand, we have an organization with many heads. I don't see taking out one head as dealing a final blow. I would not expect any of the satellite groups to know who is the head... adding a new person at this point might jeopardize the operation, unless you have a plan for that already."
Detective Hoyle chimes in, "No plan, per say. But we need to do some good old fashioned police work. Unless you want to stay in the office, we need to start investigating. KLCD has a sprawling campus with several studios. Aside from Channel 28 and the Ocho, they produce a 24 cable news channel, and local sports to name a few."

On the monitor bank behind Guardian Plus Transit puts up live feeds of the various channels produced by KLCD: 28) the local morning program features Bob & Kathy interviewing the owner of Megapolis's hottest quiche location; 8) the local morning program features Gloria y Esteban interviewing the owner of the bakery producing Megapolis's spiciest chorizo quiche; 32) Chip Gornovorski and Boomer Scrubs are discussing the free-agent quarterback prospects for the Megapolis Grizzlies: fuck terrible or deliberate psychological torture to the fans; 44) red faced pundit Malcom O'Freydun is screaming about how multi-grain breads are politicizing baking competitions; 50) local talk show host Maxwell Buffer is putting a teenager in a sleeper hold in a segment called "My High Schooler Wants to Be a Super-Powered Gang-Banger"; 86) a rerun of the sitcom "Big Man of the House" following the antics of Megapolis crime-fighter Shrinking Man and his real-life son, Giant Baby. Looking at all the channels, Hoyle adds, "We'll to pick a channel to start our investigation."
Sentinel wrote:"Ms. Wi-fi , as for this news station, perhaps Mary Marsh from WCTV in Century Station may be able to shed some light on the station here?"
"Not a bad idea. She might know some of the gossip on other news shows," Detective Hoyle replies.
Sicilia wrote:I have quite a few pieces of intel I should hope you all find juicy. Trust the reporter to do the dirt-digging, after all! ... This woman, Robin Ri, gave me a lot of accurate information, which is where I managed to get a start on all of the research.
Throughout her briefing, a group of detectives take detailed notes, occasionally swapping books to share what they had written down. They are all very polite until Sicilia mentions Robin Ri, at which point they break into laughter. A black man sporting a gray goatee chuckles, "Sheeee-it. Ri-Ri was there?" More laughter from the group. "Why am I not surprised."
Sicilia wrote:We could work her into an inside woman, she was only there to watch her ex get scrapped. It was the one who fought Atlantis. Could tell you waaay more stories about that man than is relevant. She went off on him for quite a few tangents. Regardless, we could be discreet with her and keep getting good intel if we play our cards right.
The detective tilts his bifocals. Some of the Bravo Team notice a small lapel pin on the detective's tweed jacket, a spherical eye with eagle's wings. "We know Robyn very well. She's been a CI off and on for years. In fact, that is the most honest woman you are ever going to meet. Some of the names she gave you are connected to a few vice cases, I'll pass this intel up to their office. Might even see where Indigo is laid up, no doubt fighting in the Arena violated some condition of his parole."

"Thanks Detective Smoof," Guardian Plus says. "On that note, the suspect that was injured in the car wreck disappeared. The ambulance that picked him up never made it to the hospital. See if you can figure out what happened to him while you're tracking the injured fighter."

The detective in tweed gives Guardian Plus a quick salute. Guardian Plus then concludes the briefing, "Well it seems like we have several lines we can follow. Detective Hoyle will take point on investigating KLCD, and see if we can track down where the fights are being held. Detective Smoof will follow some of the leads we've already generated. And we can also start expanding to track any races this organization is running."

As the meeting breaks up the Omegas talk amongst themselves and must decide they will help move the investigation forward.

Chastity sighs, "I have not had any police training yet, I would probably not be much use at most investigations."

She thinks, That is my flaw as a hero, I do not have much to contribute as an investigator. I guess everyone starting out has some flaw...

She says, "I am assuming the paint trail has been followed back to the specific studio I was at?"

There really is not that much she can do personally as an investigator. Her best talent in that department is her ability to interact reasonably well with people on the streets and knowing things like gang signs. Sure she fly around town in the hopes of spotting something, but she gets the feeling that would be less than useful.

A bit depressed, she sits down and starts working on the design for a vectored-thrust flying board...

As the others make their comments on the casual extremity of the organization's methods, Sicilia gives a small nod of her serpentine head, jotting down a note of her own. Makes sense. Alright, let's make sure I don't get found out. Would not want to be testing my new form against whatever they can throw at me unless I really need to.

The snake feels a sense of pride welling in her at how well the group seems to be going about their note-taking with her information, before it is shattered by their bout of laughter. It's not until the goateed man's comment that she relaxes, her momentary lapse in confidence gone. Oh, she is? That would explain a lot. Least they're not laughing at my investigative efforts. Reporting to police detectives always makes me nervous.

With a jovial hiss, she responds, a bit more tersely than she wants, A CI? That would have been nice to know beforehand. Would have saved me some time confirming all the things she said last night. Not that I wouldn't have done that anyways. Always cross reference your sources, my professors always said!

As the meeting breaks, and the Omegas are left discussing with one another, Sicilia turns to the others. Robin Ri being a CI is good.
I can follow through with her like you said, Wi-Fi, set up something more permanent. Maybe even see if she'd be willing to come over to Century Station to act as an informant for the Omegas on a permanent basis?
While ambitious, the snake is already jotting down ideas to make it happen, how much pay informants usually get, ways to convince the woman to make her off-and-on work a touch more on.
Iron Maiden wrote:Chastity sighs, "I have not had any police training yet, I would probably not be much use at most investigations."
Sicilia hisses at that, talking to Chastity in her mind alone. When I was fighting those Megasaurs, or whatever I'll call them to make them stand out in the public report, I was feeling pretty useless myself. All of the Omegas flying about with all their powers and strengths, and all I did was ask for help and nip at their heels a bit. Even you were flying around with an arm gun. We've all got our strengths and weaknesses, and have the chance to improve.

She pauses then, and if a snake could flush, Iron Maiden would be sure the snake would be doing just that at the moment. S-sorry for the lecture. Something I've been thinking about since Brute recruited me.

After the detective finishes, Rook nods to both him and Iron Maiden. "Will do. It could possibly be held underground if there are wide tunnels, such as an old sewer system or perhaps transportation network, like an abandoned subway... are either of those possible in this city?" the young woman then suggests, shifting in her chair uncomfortably. "I don't think an arena is very likely, those things tend to be pretty rare and have security, right? While outside would open them up to far too many eyes, unless held far from the city I suppose. At any rate, I will do what I can to find out more."

The various channels being shown amuse Rook to no end, particularly the talking-head and the talk-show. However, she does make mental note of the quiche locations, for later!

Chastity is not sure whether Sicilia can hear thoughts or not, but deciding that it is better to assume not, she replies softly, "I was thinking much the same thing, about myself."

Chastity says, "I helped design my power source, but I forgot to suggest including a sensory array. While my powers are designed to work together, human error is the biggest problem. I am able to hold my own in a fight, not by raw strength but by the versatility of my weaponry. Still, I lack the raw power of some of the heavy hitters, I chose to focus on utility rather than damage."

She had not thought about the possibility of an abandoned subway or a similar area, and she comments, "That Subway thing is a good suggestion, you are already doing better than me."

She glances at her recent drawings and a thought strikes her, If I can build something designed to be used without hands, like this airboard, I could build something for someone who has no hands...

Out loud, she says, slightly excited, "Sicilia, how would you like to be able to drive? I could build a car that you could drive using your capabilities. Building vehicles is something I am good at."

He stands motionless against a wall of the conference room listening to the flow of information coming and going between the team and the detectives as they resolve what to do next. Not much comes of it except to pick at the threads of information until something unravels. I have time for this to wait, but my plans for Century station cannot. I could grab the one called Greene and extract the information from him. he thinks.

"Detective Hoyle, perhaps I can “detain” Mr. Greene who drove the van and question him about the inner workings of the station?” Sentinel says holding aloft a rattlesnake that sounds not too pleased with its current situation. Turning towards Sicilia he adds, ”No offense intended Mr. Sicilia.” he says offering the polite apology motioning to the venomous snake in his hand. ”But if he isn’t afraid of any animal, I am sure a ghost would do it for him.” he adds changing his face to the appearance of the man executed on the stage. "Not a bad idea. She might know some of the gossip on other news shows," Detective Hoyle replies.
”I will reach out and see if the young lady could assist us. Do you happen to have a register of Century Cities agents? I’d imagine that you would put out statements and call press conferences? I my humble opine, it could be the simplest way to find her studio's human resources to put me into contact.” Sentinel says agreeing.

”Ms. Marsh, so kind of you to take my call, this is Emperor Qin Chi Zheng. I suppose I am in no need of further introduction? Yes. Would you be able to assist me in locating some information? Thank you. There is a sensitive matter of locating "unused" studios for KLCD here in Megalopolis. It's a front and I am hoping you know where to look to tease out a lead to find more about it and who may be using it? Ok. Interview? Yes, of course, I'll agree to another. Don't get yourself killed...again.” Sentinel says taking up a personal tone over the phone. (Phone call as heard from one side)

Chastity sighs, "I have not had any police training yet, I would probably not be much use at most investigations."
"you are all here as an Omega for qualities you have, not skills. Back in the day When I was a Vigilante, I asked a similar question to our team leader. I was told a simple answer that remains true today as it did then. 'You can teach any person the right skills to do any job but you can not teach them the courage or will to do that job.' In short, all three of you are here because you have chosen to do this. Once back at HQ we can sort out any needed training. Training is just details. What matters is that your hearts are in the right place and you have the will to follow your heart." she states plainly.

It is really not as tough as it looks. It is just a lot of detail management and common sense know-how." she paused, "I have a few books at home on the topic you can borrow. and yes the team was meant to be a strike team and hero team. most of the skill-heavy people did so on their effort. They do not even have power training which is something I'd like to add..." she pauses, "Might bring that up with the powers that be."

"As for what we choose to investigate let's go after the important Items. no telling how long we will be here or how much we can get done. For now, let's try and scope out the areas they can investigate after we leave. If we get lucky and find the ring leader all the better for us all. If I can assist please ask. in the meantime, I'll see what I can do from here and to assist the police side of things and as liaison for you guys." she says to the omegas.

"Sentinel, Can have word with you for a moment?" she asks once in private continues.

"There is a witness named Zeke Hiller. I am thinking we may need to protect him. Considering the situation and all can we relocate if the police here can't?" the mutant asked the Golem.

Sicilia manages a surprisingly human-like gesture of blinking in brief confusion at the statement, before responding, I can drive manuals and automatics, though I grew up with manual, but not for much more than an hour before my teeth start getting sore. My TK putters out around then as well. Being able to drive for longer than that would be useful, especially if it was a lot easier to control.

She flicks her tongue out. Besides, it's not like I have a car I own here in Century Station.

Sicilia gives an affirmative bob of her head. You got it, Wi-Fi, she says privately to the woman, You need me to look into anyone or write up a report, let me know.

She looks over to Rook, her mental tone a touch enthusiastic as she asks the woman, You ever been on a stake-out? It'd be good to get a scope on the place where their races are at, once we find out where it is. I imagine with all the space a good race needs, especially an airborne one, you can't just hide it as well underground. She waves her tail about as she continues, And subway tunnels aren't too bad. Everything should be marked in some way for maintenance purposes. Beats getting picked by the university's janitorial staff to wiggle around in dusty old air vents too thin for humans whenever something crawled in there and died. Anyways, we can get some faces, see if we can't find anything on the public records of the city, the nitty gritty of the research detail.

"This room is empty but can be furnished with whatever you would like to bring in. With enough supplies, I believe one could be protected with no risk, as far as I am aware. The only way in is through the door I open and only if I allow entrance." the ectype advises.

It does not seem too difficult, there are special vans for paralyzed people that have adapted controls already out there."

Moving Forward
Megapolis Police Department, Porto Hill Station
Date: Tuesday, April 7th, 2043
Weather: Light rain (61 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 9:20 am

As the morning briefing wraps up, Detective Lester Smoof and a couple of other detectives are amused to find out that one of their CI's was at the Arena. It's amusing, but it also hints at something everyone is becoming aware of - the fact is that a super-powered fight club is just the beginning of this investigation. Whoever is running this seems to have influence all over the city.
Sicilia wrote:A CI? That would have been nice to know beforehand. Would have saved me some time confirming all the things she said last night.
The detective shake his head laughing, "I wish I knew she was there too. Ri-Ri is what you might call a 'free spirit,' just bounces around the different super-powered scenes in the city as she pleases. If you want to ask her more questions, I know where she'll go for brunch when she wakes up in..." the detective pulls out a pocket watch from his tweed jacket "Three hours, maybe."

When the briefing is over, Guardian Plus hands handing out assignments to the detectives while the Omegas talk amongst themselves. Sentinel uses the time to approach Detective Hoyle; he offers to track down Greene and interrogate him.

Hoyle smiles at the idea but decides against it. "Not the best use of our time. You won't have much luck shaking down a guy like Greene. Guy was a hardened criminal before he got his driver's permit. There's a psych eval in his juvenile record says something like..."

From behind, Detective Curtis says, "'Displays a disturbing lack of concern for the well-being of others.' It's why he's a good fight promoter and bookie. And also a shitty human being."

Hoyle continues, "Greene's value to us is as a lead to the races, now that we know they exist." He then signals Rook over. "If you need help reaching out to Greene about the races, Logan can help you out. Or you can go on your own." He pauses and looks back to Sentinel. "I'll have someone get you that phone number."

As Bravo Team continues its conversation on what it can and cannot do, Guardian Plus approaches the team. "I'm not one to bark orders, but the next thing we need to do is go investigate KLCD. We are deciding which studio we want to search first. Since your team was there last night, we assumed your team would want to take point. Tell us which station you want to drop by first, and we'll get a warrant."

After Guardian Plus steps away, Sentinel excuses himself to make a phone call. He is immediately connected to Mary Marsh's line. She sounds busy, and answers with an exasperated, "What do you got for me?"
Sentinel wrote:"Ms. Marsh, so kind of you to take my call, this is Emperor Qin Chi Zheng. I suppose I am in no need of further introduction?"
The voice on the other line brightens immediately, "Sentinel?!?! I was wondering when you were going to call. You didn't lose my number did you?"
Sentinel wrote:"Yes."
She gives a measured laugh, three chuckles and then quickly quips back. "Well I'll forgive you, this time. What do you need?"
Sentinel wrote:"Would you be able to assist me in locating some information?
"Of course. What are you looking for?"
Sentinel wrote:"Thank you. There is a sensitive matter of locating "unused" studios for KLCD here in Megalopolis. It's a front and I am hoping you know where to look to tease out a lead to find more about it and who may be using it?"
"KLCD out in Megapolis? They call that place the Warring States, something you should know about, right? Well, there aren't any unused studios. But each one is like it's own little fief, and they are very territorial, even about parking lots. Channel 28 is an icon of local broadcasting, hands down best morning show in the country. We're all huge Bob & Kathy fans here. And the Ocho is a respectable Spanish language channel that has been getting big nationally. I hear it's big even in Barcelona. So is Ball Sports Network (32), they have great coverage of La Liga. Also, I'm a fan of Joe Garrelli's MMA coverage. That guy is just so smart, and he talks about so many things. Have you listened to his podcast? All of those channels make a point of distancing themselves from BlogNews (44); those guys are a bunch of blowhards that are screaming 24/7, literally. They got a radio station too, so their pundits can go straight from one show to the next. But they're better than the garbage on Channel 50. Talk shows in the day and reality at night. I swear, the people on Max Buffer's show are less trash than any one of the heiresses in Millionaire Mavens. 86 has been producing some really amazing and experimental comedies in the last years, but I'll be honest, I like tuning in late at night for the reruns of the old supe-coms.* Channel 101 is the only other studio you might want to pay attention to. Who would have thought super-local game shows and home renovation projects could be so watchable and addictive? I hope this information helps you out."
Sentinel wrote:"Ok."
"I would have liked a thanks for that. But I guess you'll have to make up not calling and then being so rude some other way," she replies in a mocked offended tone.
Sentinel wrote:"Interview?"
"No. Dinner. How about taking me out for Beijing hot pot? This weekend?"
Sentinel wrote:"Yes, of course, I'll agree to another."
"Perfect. I'll see you then!"
Sentinel wrote:"Don't get yourself killed... again."
"Well, hopefully you'll be around if that happens again."

In the meantime, Iron Maiden busies herself by trying to look for any videos of the super-powered races but has no luck. A search for 'arena races' and 'super-powered races megapolis' yields nothing specific. Then again, she shouldn't be surprised, the Arena fights had been running for an unknown period of time before the fights went public. Eventually, Chastity finds herself pulling up clips from those fights and she realizes that searching for the races isn't going to be very productive. Videos from the Arena aren't very widely distributed, and the most popular ones are of an unknown age. After a while, she realizes the most productive thing she can do is prepare to be a part of the team that goes to the TV station and searches for more clues as to who is running this operation.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
* Supe-coms are a genre of television that first became popular in the late 2020's. These shows revived the classic 3 camera sitcom but filmed real-life super heroes in dramatized versions of their adventures.

At this point there are several police officers that can help you with your next round of actions:
Detective James Hoyle - Currently putting together that warrant application for searching KLCD, talk to him about which station you want to investigate first
Detective Curtis Logan - Is available to help you (but you can go without him) reach out to Greene about the super-powered racing circuit
Detective Lester Smoof - Can take you to meet Robyn "Ri-Ri" Ri
Guardian Plus and Transit - Can help with any other preparation you may want

"Ms. Wi-fi, I am not familiar with a Zeke Hiller, but with adequate supplies, he can be protected indefinitely." Sentinel says. An ectype appears next to Sentinel opening a dimensional room against the wall before gently taking Wi-fi's hand to lead her through.

"This room is empty but can be furnished with whatever you would like to bring in. With enough supplies, I believe one could be protected with no risk, as far as I am aware. The only way in is through the door I open and only if I allow entrance." the ectype advises.
"This will do nicely if need to keep our witness safe. I am not fully sure the local PD can if they have taken this long to get any leads on the ring. I hope I am wrong." she answers with a nod.

in the meeting:
"While they check the Race and arena angle I have an idea. we need to check the Studios you said? Can we set me up as a member of the FCC? We can pull a surprise inspection and tour that might find something? I could take IM along or one other as well. Setting up an ID and credentials could be done easily." Wi-Fi offers.

Sicilia gives off a mental hum as the others talk and figure things out about her, the sound resonating in the detective's mind despite not actually making the sound physically, not being capable of it. Once no one else has the detective's attention, she will reach out to him mentally to respond, her phone at the ready to take notes on. Sounds like a plan. I might stop by the deli first to pick up my own breakfast. Nothing at the hotel was... made in mind for a snake, we'll say. She gives a hiss with that.

And there's nothing good to hunt in a city, anyways. You ever tasted raw pigeon? Things are nasty. She shakes her head in disgust, internally wincing as she realizes just how odd the comment is before nodding and focusing once more. So! What's this joint called? You coming with, or should I head out there alone?

She takes down the response of where to go, as well as directions if given, and begins to write down a few notes for herself as she well. Questions to ask Ri-Ri: How did she know about the fights? Was it really through her ex? Hmm. Place might be too public for questions like that. Switch to some sort of code? Maybe ask her how she met her ex? Place he worked? Don't know how able she would be to see through that. She jots down a few other questions like that, dry tongue tapping out the notes on her phone screen, briefly thankful that she wasn't a mutant dog that'd have to wipe off the screen every few seconds if she tried this.

The errant thought of her mind, she thumps her tail on the ground a couple of times. How to entice her to Century Station, if I want to make good and get her to come along with us? She's a free spirit, huh? Maybe just a suggestion at getting a change in locale would do the trick. Favor, maybe? I'll have to know her better to say for sure.

Lost in her thoughts, it'll take a moment to rouse the snake's attention, should anyone choose to do so.

This section assumes we know what Sentinel was told.
Chastity says, "Something very important was said during that conversation. The informant mentioned that the parking areas are proprietary, that each area is used by only one single studio. That means that if we can find out which studio uses the parking area where the van the gladiators were in, then we have a good chance of knowing which studio the fight was recorded at."

She thinks, That assumes that they did not use someone else's parting area to throw followers off the track.

The next section does not matter what we get from Sentinel.
She says to Wifi, "I know next to nothing about broadcasting, but I know a lot about mechanics and something about electronics and computers. I could act as a mechanic, if you need something taken apart, or as a bodyguard."

She thinks a moment, "Perhaps some kind of safety inspector for the stages might work."

Sentinel hangs up the phone more than a little awestruck by the conversation he just had with Mary. Her eagerness to help him struck a proverbial nerve as expected since he is who he is, but the way in which the favor was gained was unexpected. How long has it been since one has expressed romantic interest that didn’t come with a price? he thinks curious, intrigued, and nervous.

As Bravo Team continues its conversation on what it can and cannot do, Guardian Plus approaches the team. "I'm not one to bark orders, but the next thing we need to do is go investigate KLCD. We are deciding which studio we want to search for first. Since your team was there last night, we assumed your team would want to take point. Tell us which station you want to drop by first, and we'll get a warrant."
Distracted by the phone conversation he didn’t hear much of what Guardian Plus said about the investigations of the stations belonging to KLCD. On his ectypes return from the pocket with Wi-fi he casually absorbs it. The memories intertwine with his revealing the conversation with her and the monologue that Guardian had rattled on about. Looking up from where he was staring in thought Sentinel answers with the information he received from Mary.

”Mary mentioned the channels you spoke of but did say we should also look into channel 101. Mary said it specializes in covering superhero games, and home improvement. The only other one you mention that she didn’t was channel 8, but I am in some doubt that quiche is a proper lead.” he says before adding the other bits of information Mary spoke of as an afterthought considering much of it to be superfluous.

”Ms. Wi-fi wishes to house the defendant in my safe room. I will need some supplies to furnish it for his stay. Would it be acceptable for me to acquire what I need from around this facility?” Sentinel asks.

Sentinel watches the large snake having never really paying attention to it before. Is it manipulating a phone with its tongue? How frustrating it is to have no arms, fingers.” he thought absently wriggly a couple of fingers in front of his face recalling that at one time very long ago in the past he had been relieved of his arms by some attempting to imprison him.

Sentinel intrigued and wishing for a distraction from thinking about Mary crosses the room to stand near the snake. ”Do you need a hand?” Sentinel says motioning to the phone.

One More Cup of Coffee
Megapolis Police Department, Porto Hill Station
Date: Tuesday, April 7th, 2043
Weather: Light rain (61 degrees Fahrenheit)
Time: 9:25 am

In one corner of the briefing room, Sicilia is having a conversation with Detective Smoof, an black man in his mid 50's with a grey goatee and tweed suit. He finishes his cup of coffee and places it on a nearby table. His face is serene as he "listens" to Sicilia.
Sicilia wrote:Sounds like a plan. I might stop by the deli first to pick up my own breakfast. Nothing at the hotel was... made in mind for a snake, we'll say.
And there's nothing good to hunt in a city, anyways. You ever tasted raw pigeon? Things are nasty... So! What's this joint called? You coming with, or should I head out there alone?
Detective Smoof gives the snake a nod. "We'll go in a bit, I need to run up to vice and drop off your reports. Then we can take a quick drive to find Ri-Ri and get back to search KLCD. Don't worry about breakfast, they'll have something for you." He pauses and grins. "You might even like how they prepare the squab."

He walks up the stairs, and Sicilia returns to talk with the rest of the Omegas. They are discussing using Rook to contact their one lead to a super-powered racing circuit, Greene. Rook offers to go, but she requests that Detective Logan, a fit young man with a dark bowl haircut and a stiff shoulder that is healing with Sentinel's magical aid, goes with her.
Rook wrote:"'d rather have Detective Logan join me; we can back each other up at the first least, plus I don't really know the city or its people that well. Since it seems unwise to have me part of the group that is going to the studios, meeting up with Green to inquire about the races further would be the best use of my time."

"Seems reasonable," Detective Hoyle, a stocky pasty man with a gray flattop haircut, replies.

Detective Logan agrees, "We can go to the gym right now and see if he's around. We can get back in time to search KLCD with everyone else. If you want to keep your identity secret there, we can loan you MPD tactical gear. It will cover your face and hide your wings unless you decide you need to fly."
Wi-Fi wrote:"While they check the race and Arena angle I have an idea. we need to check the studios you said? Can we set me up as a member of the FCC? We can pull a surprise inspection and tour that might find something? I could take IM along or one other as well. Setting up an ID and credentials could be done easily."
"No need for a cover here." Detective Hoyle replies. "We're serving a search warrant because we have a tip that there was a crime perpetrated and we need to collect evidence. We don't have to say anything beyond that. We go to Channel 50 about once a month after a fight breaks out on any talk show or between the Real Houseboys of Beach Island. And you would (or wouldn't) be surprised by how many drug dealers work on comedy shows." He gives a quick glance to Iron Maiden and continues, "We'll look around, see if we can find any evidence from the night before. Iron Maiden can download the surveillance tapes and see if there's anything there."

At this point, Sentinel chimes in on their witness from the night before.
Sentinel wrote:"Ms. Wi-fi wishes to house the defendant in my safe room. I will need some supplies to furnish it for his stay. Would it be acceptable for me to acquire what I need from around this facility?"
Super-powered detective, Guardian Plus pats Sentinel on the shoulder, "I like the idea, but I don't know how good of a long term solution that's going to be. If we arrest anyone, we'll need to be able to call him whenever there's a court hearing. More importantly, we have the morning to plan where we are going to search and prepare."

"I can see that," she paused, "How many comedians have depression is also surprising. YOu would think funny people would be happier. While she checks the surveillance I can dig around the database and see what is on their expenses. They might have a log of what sales they have made that might be a cover for the fight distribution and costs. They need to put it through a till and pay the taxman. Even the joker would not go against the IRS. Mind if I get Swat or police gear or at least a police jacket to blend in with your people better? " the woman answered.
