Game Master (GM)

Please rate Blackhaunt and reply to this post that you have voted.

Duties:
☞ Maintain a GM post rate at a minimum of one adventure post per week.
☞ Have the IM contact info of each player in their group.
☞ Notify all players in the group via IM or PM of new GM posts, and other important updates.
☞ Maintain your adventure notes in the GM's Cabal. (Gist: If a random GM can't pick up and run the adventure from your notes, the notes are unsatisfactory.)
☞ Be available for IM chat at least one day a week.
☞ Coordinate with the AGM regarding expected adventure dates & time-frames.
☞ Consult with AGM regarding XP awards.
☞ Directly notify AGM via PM of any expected absences in addition to the Account Status Tracker.

Rewards:
☞ GMs will be rated according to merit by their players every quadrimester.
☞ Rating will be done by players on the following schedule:

June 1st
October 1st
February 1st

☞ Each is responsible for creating his rating poll on the above schedule.
☞ Players are responsible for rating the GMs within a week of the poll being posted, and posting notice that they have voted (in the same thread.)
☞ Ratings will be conducted via poll and averaged to the nearest whole number.
☞ Players who do not vote will be removed from the average.

8: You have earned 5 EP.

Thanks Chimera for pitching in as needed this quad.

Feedback:

I'd like to see a more cinematic approach where the drudgery is "super easy, barely an inconvenience." I mentioned this in chat a few weeks ago, that a dichotomy existed between my idea of what technology should be in Century City and what's available to the Omegas versus what has been presented.

Some examples:

We should be super-CSI and NCIS. Instead of going to the scene of a crime (where there isn't really anything we can do). There's a video feed to a specialist on site who is doing the search for forensic evidence. They are sticking stuff into various black boxes, and they are being analyzed in seconds and results displayed on screens. The team asks questions and gets answers to be able to decide on what to do next. If the team is expected to do the work all of the necessary equipment should be ubiquitous, and we are all skilled in their use. Maybe we have forensic robots that go with us that have all the built in tools and can be deployed as needed.

There was the other discrepancy about the Omega Suits. They have trackers, tamper proof software , extreme counter measures, and short range communications, but it doesn't include multi-optics, HUDs, secured long range radios, internet access, etc. It's one thing to have various tech levels across a country or a town, but it doesn't make sense to me within our own group. We should have access to super tech to make things easier. And like in the Flash TV series, we have nerds who are sitting in chairs with their laptops able to hack their way into whatever we need.

Finally, I think we are being too realistic and detailed on how the characters try to accomplish or build things. We are super heroes, we should be able to do super things. Make the task super difficult (penalty on the skill roll), need to find 'a' something, or be super expensive if necessary; but I don't think forcing the player to figure out tons of details on an imaginary device helps the story. On the other side, if the GM says our character can't do something, then we need to let it go.

As Dio mentioned, thanks to CHIMERA for pitching in.

I also think Dio makes some good points. I don't know I totally agree with the "super-CSI" part but drone tech at the time of the story setting should be advanced enough to get at least partway there. Plus at the risk of beating a dead horse, Barricade does have training in that area and can be of use in those situations. I've tried working it into the story in-game but don't seem to be having much luck even with good rolls. Part of that's on me, I realize that; I tried to play it up more when he was part of H4H but there's not much call for CSI folks in the post-apocalypse setting where psi-powers and magic spells can more than suffice.

As for the Omega Suits... I agree that we should have a comprehensive 'suit bible' where all suit capabilities are statted out (though in all fairness 'PC trying to hack suit systems' probably wasn't something that could have been envisioned beforehand) but certain things like special optics/HUDs/internet/etc. should be considered 'optional extras' that wouldn't be on the standard model but could be requested/allocated based on need. And it doesn't have to be super-duper-triple-looper-high-tech stuff integrated into the suit; that's why Tom carries a phone/mini-tablet/datapad.

Personally, I'd also like a few more 'downtime' opportunities where characters can successfully tinker/train/heal broken bones/etc. and skip through a couple days with a handwavium "give me skill checks and you spend 2 days working on it until you get this result" kinda thing. Yes I know we get those but at times it feels like we're trying to play down time in real time. I acknowledge that this sounds better in my head than on the screen and it could be a relatively minor thing. But those on the team that are more tinker-minded/research-minded could probably benefit from a few more of these opportunities.

Speaking of opportunities, would love to see opportunities for the Omegas to rebuild/repair relationships with the Centurions. Yes we're the junior varsity team and they're the A-listers but at least some sort of civil working relationship would be great. And if I'm being totally honest -- as well as a tad selfish -- I wouldn't mind a SLJ cameo at some point. Either from the main team or from any surviving members of the SLJ West.
