The group enjoys some well deserve pay and time off and uses that to the most. With several departures, a new structure and new requirements, the investment of a group vehicle became priority. After that, the group was able to dote on themselves and enjoy their time for several days without interruption. Eight remains static by the door, seemingly in some sort of standby mode and doesn't seem to move unless spoken too.

The group can drop several dimes around the town for their other prospect, the missing benefactor that Brooks and Sharee were working for that their own employer wants captured. While they are relatively decided on their own course of action, this Uteni on the run has been difficult to track down which is both a good and a bad thing. Even their own employer hasn't had reliable information on his former employee even though this Uteni is single-handedly responsible for disrupting some of his major operations.

About two weeks in to their relative time off after their score, Susan receives an encoded message from Brooks and Sharee at around 3 in the morning.

Code: Select all

Come to the Crib when you can; got a lead on our missing benefactor. Need to lay low.

When Susan and the others wake up in the morning, everyone will notice that for the first time, Eight is no longer in his normal location and is instead standing by the conference room. "The creator has requested your presence at your earliest convenience; he has information about the whereabouts of his former employee." Eight explains and will wait by the door.

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. Jerrick had familiarized himself with his new home and headquarters. His last “mission” using that term loosely, showed him that he needed to make adjustments for his new life as a Mercenary.

First he needed more fire power. Having 100,000 credits, was something he never experienced. He knew he had to invest in his career. After a failed attempt to get Eight to order him a Naruni SMG, he perused local Gun Stores and picked up a new Wellington Industries SMG with Ramjet Ammo. He also got another Fire Agate. this one was a Fire Agate of Tongues for his mage armor at a local Tech Wizard’s shop. That would prepare him for any situation involving the need of language he didn’t know. But his prized purchase was his Amulet of See Invisible. That would help keep the team safe. He also realized that he may need wheels for jobs and for personal transport so his last purchase was a hovercycle.

When he wasn’t shopping he was training. Every day he runs 5 miles he would do an hour long regimen of weight training. After a hearty lunch, he practices his Martial Arts Forms, followed by 100 practice rounds at the range. His goal was to be as good a Mercenary as he could be. He wanted the others to see he was taking this job seriously.

He also took care of all the necessary business needed for his new transition. He gave his notice at the Sphinx and Unicorn. He played one farewell session, and hung out with Little T and told him stories about his first Merc job. He had dinner with Weird Sisters and told them a milder PG rated, version. He would do his best to hang out with Little T and visit his surrogate MercTown moms, but he wasn’t exactly sure how often or to what degree he would have downtime. He also wrote a song about his first adventure, called ‘Freefall’, which killed in his farewell session at the Sphinx and Unicorn.

Other nights he spent the evening with the team. He is still trying to figure them out. They are very enigmatic and always serious, but it was understandable. They recently lost a team member. Not permanently from what Jerrick could tell. They just didn’t know where she was. And there were a couple of members on hiatus he hoped to meet eventually. They didn’t talk about them much, at least not with Jerrick. What little Jerrick did know was deductions made from conversations made in his presence. Jerrick learned quickly that working for a group like the Naruni obviously was problematic and kept them focused, serious and vigilant. Despite the obvious social barriers that existed, Jerrick really liked the team, even Phinneas, who although odd and obviously crazy carried it with a bit of a weird charm. His completely off the wall comments at inappropriate times were sometimes hilarious and brought great and needed levity in a serious time.

The highlight of the hiatus was when Susan used some of our take from the last job on a new team transport. That was a fun day as everyone got to check out our new travel digs. It was fun to see the team excited about something and not so down. Even Amber in all her seriousness, smiled as she went over every cool feature.

It was a whirlwind of new experiences for Jerrick, and he almost forgot that they were mercenaries, he began to see them as cool friends and roommates living it up in MercTown. That came to a screeching halt when he awoke to Eight’s announcement.

This was it. Jerrick was about to meet the employers who had the cool and collected Amber and Susan on edge. He made his way quickly with the others to the conference room. He was ready, he had to be. Everyone here needs me to step up and pull my weight. I will do just that. “Good Morning, Amber, Susan, Phinneas, and even you, you bucket of bolts.” The last greeting was made with side eye at Eight. He sat at the conference table ready to face whatever he was about to face.

Since returning from the battlefield, Phinneas has made himself acquainted with his new digs. After finding a bunk and a place to stow his gear, he approaches Amber to get a little more info on his new group and the general goings on. Unless approached by Susan directly, he steers clear for the time being while he feels her out. There is an uneasiness there and he's not quite sure what to do with it yet. Watching Jerrick go through his daily routine, Phinneas sees that he is a mostly serious fellow, maybe too serious. There might be some fun to be had here. Sometimes when coming back from a day's exploration, he will stand next to Eight and mimic the robot's expressionless and motionless stance for a while.

When not occupied in the HQ, Phinneas attends to his gear. He gets his force field repaired, replenishes ammo and looks for some transportation. Walking hasn't done him any harm, but sometimes its nice to be a little lazy.

Phinneas makes his way back to the security checkpoint where Mr. Boom Boom got his hat when he first arrived and asks if they have one in a different color. He walks away a little dejected when they tell him unfortunately they only come in one color.

He makes his way through Merctown, familiarizing himself with his new surroundings. He stays mostly in The Hub and The Spokes, where he finds the shops with the tastiest treats, weird as they might look. He sees all manner of people and D-Bees, some of which are totally new to him. He also takes note of the Juicers in town and contemplates having a bit of fun with a few, but decides to wait until he has been here a little longer. As an indulgence, he finds a shop where he can get a haircut and get his M.O.M. implants polished. After all, he's in a new place and wants to look good.

One thing that will probably be noticed by the others is that Phinneas doesn't sleep much. He is normally awake for a few days at a time, and only sleeps for a little more than a few hours when he finally does. When the rest of the group sleeps, Phinneas can be caught on whatever security cameras there are occupying himself with gymnastics, climbing whatever he can or weight lifting, although there really isn't enough weight around for him.

When Eight calls for everyone's presence in the conference room, he wasn't surprised. The rest and relaxation was nice, but it was only a matter of time until it was time to go back to work.

Yep, that's me. I bet you're wondering how I got into this trouble!

COMPUTER, replay backstory.

Susan went home to Lazlo for a week after their return from mission, with contingency plans to get on one of the many 1-hour flights or teleports if an emergency popped up. (OOC: charge for round trip accordingly, please).

"The babies are off 'safety' and standing behind my door. Do not enter my room without first contacting me."

During that time, she hung out with her family (I'm FINE, MOOOOOM!), her colleagues (the FOOLS!) and her friends (what she calls her books and trid shows).

She also reached out to psychologists and specialists in MercTown to help test Phinneas's ... status.

"Mr. Phinneas. As part of our team charter, we require full medical and psychological evaluations of all prospective members. I have scheduled your mental evaluation for..." she provides the necessary information and assures her attendance.

OOC: Phinneas is displaying clear signs of schizophrenia (voices talking to him) and breaks with reality (like thinking normal people will find explosives funny) on top of other disorders. This would be VERY BAD for someone a year into Crazy conversion. Susan's primary concern is to determine how long he's been a Crazy, how long these disorders have been present and how fast this deterioration is progressing.

Susan goes into the meeting with Eight and ignores the external contact until after.
It's DNA, all the way down./Ledger

[Merctown]
Amber spends the first day or so of their downtime getting to know the newcomers to the GIRLS. As the defacto leader in Jez’s absence, she makes sure the newcomers know what is expected of them and how the GIRLS operate. She breaks down how the shares are allotted for their work and tries to get a read on the skills each of them has in order to effectively lead them.

She reaches out to the Mercs they worked with at the Naruni compound and arranges to meet them for a drink at Robyn's Rib Rack and Beer Shack like they discussed earlier. She enjoys the comradery, a few drinks and some food with the boys. She feels out their leader, Jiquo, to see if he would be willing to work with them in the future. It never hurts to have some Merc friends in their back pocket if they are eventually going to be taking down The Creator.

Being a bit paranoid that Eight has the facility bugged or under some kind of surveillance, she will take Jerrick and Phinneas out into the city and lays out the reality of working for the Naruni as well as how they were coerced into being ‘The Creators’ trouble-shooters. She leaves out the fact that the GIRLS are also going to be trying to eliminate ‘The Creator’ when the opportunity arises.

In the following days, she spends much time meditating and analyzing their last mission and how they were overmatched in regards to firepower. Jez has only been gone a few days and she leaves a enormous hole to fill in group. We miss her leadership, her strength, and thinking back to the launcher she salvaged and the building she smashed through, the massive amount of damage she can do. My psychic abilities are powerful, but not in those situations. I need to learn to be more effective on the battlefield. And how to be a leader in Jez’s absence. I need to find someone that can train me in all of that, while balancing that with my people’s heritage. I need to become a Cyber-Knight. It will allow me to do the most good and allow me to use my current abilities in different ways. She pauses in her thoughts. So, who do I know that can train me? I’ve heard rumours that Cyber-Knights are based out West somewhere, but the West is so big I could spend years trying to find it. I could try Sir William back at Psyscape, but I know he really doesn’t have the time for training anyone with his duties. Plus I don’t want to get pulled back into fighting Harvesters again either. So, where to go? I guess I’ll look around town and see if I can find anyone here.

She wanders around the city for several days, listening for rumours of Cyber-Knights in the city. She finally tracks down a lead that Knights sometimes frequent the Quiet Warrior Inn in the Spokes but her luck is against her as none are in residence, since there are rumours of some trouble to the West that has the Knights attention.

Her shoulders slump as her search of Merctown comes to a fruitless end. Maybe I’m going about this wrong. I should head back to Manoa and my kin there. There should be someone there that is able to train me. Plus, who better to train an Atlantean than another Atlantean. And I would like to change some things up with my order with Meirdin too. Hmmm. I got the contact information from that company that flew us down there. I can reach out to them or maybe there is a someone here in town that could send me and some gear down there via a Rift. I would like to cut out that long flight if possible. I’ll check out some places in the Mystic Quarter and see if there is someone that can help me there.

[Merctown - Magic Missives]
Amber searches the Mystic Quarter for likely magical means of transport back to Manoa. She notices a shop called Magic Missives and decides to take a chance that they are able to ship more than just letters and objects. She enters the shop and approaches the desk of the proprietor, Figorro Noussaurin. She waits patiently until she has his attention. “Are you the proprietor here? I understand that you are able to send packages to distant locations, but I was wondering if you are also able to transport a person to distant locales.”

Figorro looks her up and down with a critical eye as he decides whether to entertain Amber’s request or send her on her way. His piercing gaze slightly unnerves Amber, but she returns his gaze confidently. He replies, “I may be able to, my dear. Where is it you need to go?”

Amber feels more optimistic that she has found a faster way of travelling to Manoa. “Have you heard of Manoa? It lies on the continent of South America, some 3000 miles to the south of here.”

Figorro raises an eyebrow. “Of course I have heard of it.” He says with a slight air of annoyance at having his knowledge challenged. “It can be arranged for a price. But yes. I can send you there. Come back tomorrow morning with payment and I will send you there.”

Amber smiles. "I'll see you in the morning!"

She returns to the GIRLS Hangar and tells them all that she is going to attend to some personal business and expects to be back in a couple of weeks at most. She packs up some of her gear and leaves for Manoa the next morning.

[City of Manoa]
Amber arrives a few miles outside the City of Manoa. The warm, moist air hitting her face brings a sheen of sweat to her face. She smiles warmly. It has only been what, a week, since I have been here last, but it still feels like I’m coming home. She makes sure she has all her gear and flies off towards the City Gates and their beckoning pyramids beyond. She lands gracefully near the guards stationed at the gates . She answers their questions truthfully and enters the city.

First some business to attend to. Let’s go and see Meirdin and completely change up the job I commissioned while I was here last. She finds the nearest Ley Line and concentrates a while and Phases into the Ley Line and reappears near his shop. She enters the TW shop and greets her kinsman. She makes some small talk with him before breaking the news to him that she wants to change the project she had commissioned last week. Knowing that he was unhappy with her choice of armour at the time, she hopes he will be happy with the custom set she has brought with her this time.

She explains that she wants the upgrades placed on this new set of armour with two additional add-ons. She would like TW Magical Silence and TW Magically Lightweight added to the armour. She would like everything put on this new armour she brought with her. Understanding that he will have to start over from scratch with everything, and knowing that her most likely has the armour completely torn apart, she tells him keep the armour he was modifying as payment for the inconvenience she had caused. She will also ask for an Atlantean Heavy Forcefield to be installed in her temporary set of armour as soon as he is able to complete it.

Armour Mods
• TW Magical Silence (costs 90,000 credits; doesn't jingle, click or creak; no prowl penalty due to noise)
• TW Magically Lightweight (costs 60,000 credits and erases any penalties the suit might otherwise have)
• From previous purchase chat with Nate. “The NE eqv. is the Superheavy at 160 MDC, costing 280k for the integrated model. We'll say 260k for the Atlantean model (base), say 208,000 after the discount for the forcefield itself, then add labor costs and such so round it up to 220k”).
She prepays for everything (370k credits) saying that she understands that it will push back the delivery time a few weeks and to send it to Merctown when it is complete. Meirdin asks her to come and join him and some other clanmates for dinner and upon finding out that she is alone in the city, invites her to stay for the duration of her visit which she graciously accepts.

She has to make one more stop on the way to her clanmates home. She stops in at Master Josiah’s Tattoo shop and inquires with his assistant, Eresa, if he has some time to speak with her. She is told to comeback in the morning after breakfast and Master Josiah will be happy to see her then.

Story continued in Amber’s background story. viewtopic.php?f=932&t=17932&p=1372363#p1372363

[Merctown - Return]
Amber returns from her excursion to Manoa. She greets everyone like she hasn’t seen them in months, not a week ago. Her face is more tanned and her hair is longer. Something else is different about her, although the others cannot tell quite what it is. There is an air of confidence about her that wasn’t there before she left. Her gait pattern looks more graceful and powerful than she was before she left too. She isn’t quite ready to tell them, especially the new members of the GIRLS, what she experienced on her time away.

Amber is eager to get on with their next job, but hopes that she doesn’t find it too distasteful in the details. She goes to the conference room and awaits the ‘Creator’.

Everyone is able to comfortably gather their morning food, snacks or otherwise before everyone find themselves in the Conference Room around 0730. Eight enters the room last and closes the door and then moves to the head of the table and there is the familiar hue of light as the holographic image of the Creator appears in the center of the table. The two newest members are unable to identify what this Creator even is, as he appears completely alien and mostly shrouded, even on the projection. His voice, however, is smooth and professional.

"I understand the roster has changed and we don't need to go any further." He says, showing little to no care about the two new members or the disappearance of others. "I have tracked down my former employee but thus far he has been uncooperative and unwilling to return. Regrettably I cannot shift any more resources to this but with this lead, I trust your creative team to be able to accomplish what my agents could not." He says and his visage vanishes and the vishage of a Uteni appears and a description of a device in an alien language.

"The item he has in a prototype that has dangerous implications. The Dimensional Tunneler; a prototype and more portable version of my teleporter. The Tunneler is designed to tap into different dimensions and will essentially turn any reflective surface they are closest too into a portal. As it is a prototype, currently the chosen dimension cannot be controlled only influenced. Someone can close a door and reopen it until they find the one they want, but it requires concentration. The portals that are opened remain open for a set among of time that, in the future, will be modifiable but for now is set at 24 hours; this was a safety precaution in case any researcher got stranded." He explains as the writing suddenly becomes readable is it is translated into English as he talks.

"Your mission is to capture my employee and return him to the base located near Manoa. I would prefer he be kept alive and unharmed; however if he refuses to cooperate, I at least need the prototype back. You don't need to kill him, he will be on the run for the rest of his life if he chooses that option and at that point, it won't be your concern." He says matter-of-factly. He pauses and another image appears. "As to where he is right now, he has left your little planet. I will organize a direct trip to my Manoan Facility which can transport you to the proper location. From there you will be on your own and will need to track him down. Eight will assist. When you have found the Tunneler, leave it with Eight. It is highly valued company property and I would hate for any of you to be liable." He finishes and the image of him reappears with his arms crossed.

"Does any of that not make sense?" He asks and will wait. If no one has questions, he will conclude the short meeting telling them to expect to leave within two days.

Amber shrugs inwardly. Dammit, I was literally just there. Not that I don’t want to go back again. At least we don’t have to fly back down like the first time. Okay, I guess it is time for my standard tell us more than the bare bones speech. “Well, as usual. We need more information. Manoa is a large area to search for someone that doesn’t want to be found. Could we have a complete dossier on your employee? Everything you know about them would be helpful. Do you have a last known location? Any known associates? Does this Uteni have any aliases that you have uncovered? Do you have any objects that belonged to the Uteni, something personal and portable that we could use.”

She changes direction slightly in her information requests. “We also need some more details on the device itself. Have they actively been using the device or are they keeping it under wraps and hidden from you? If he is using it, what kind of power source does it require? Like, how much energy does it require to activate? It will narrow down where to look if they require a massive amount of power to operate the device as those places are not that common.”

She looks around the room at the rest of the GIRLS. “Feel free to chime in folks with any questions/concerns you have.”

Once they are done with the mission brief from The Creator, she tells Susan. “Give these guys any shots you think they need before we go. And make sure they have any thing else you think they need. We should both be good since we were just down there. I remember Jez saying before the last time down to stock up on water filtration units, insect repellents, and anti-viral medications. And anti-venom too." She looks at Jerrick. "Jerrick, could you look after the TW Food & Water Purifier?" She looks around at the rest, "If we are going into the jungle, the heat and humidity are tough on gear, and people for that matter. So pack wisely and lightly."

Susan listens carefully to their "employer's" presentation. She leans over to Amber. "I believe we're not going to Manoa except to transport to a different dimension."

To the Naruni, she says, "We'll need to know the target destination dimension and its hazards so that we can be prepared, please."

It opens dimensional portals through reflective surfaces?!? That sounds like magic, not super science. Science doesn't use vague concepts like 'go through a mirror.'

"I would also add to Amber's questions - is the device itself dangerous for us to transport, for example, does it leak radiation or similar?"

I wonder if I can get a cranial bomb or explosive bracelet and convince Phinneas it's a piece of protective equipment... As a precaution.
It's DNA, all the way down./Ledger

Perception: 30% | 1d100: [79] = 79
JIC: 1d20: [11] = 11 | 1d100: [71] = 71
Constant Conditions:
Special Abilities
1. Super Endurance: Can lift and carry twice as much as a normal person of equivalent Strength and Endurance, and can last 10 times longer before feeling effect of exhaustion. Can remain alert and operate at full efficiency for up to 3 days (72 hours) without sleep. Needs only 4 hours of sleep to function at full capacity.
2. Increased Strength: Falls under "Augmented" category.
3. Increased Speed: Can leap 20 ft across and 15 high after a short run (half the distance from a dead stop).
4. Heightened Reflexes and Agility: Exceptional Balance and Grace.
5. Enhanced Senses:
Enhanced Vision: Character has perfect 20/20 vision and exceptional long range vision; can read a small sign or recognize a face from up to 2 miles away when he concentrates; must have line of sight.
Enhanced Hearing: Can hear a whisper or a twig snap up to 3oo ft away. Acute hearing gives an Automatic Dodge on ALL attacks; even from behind and surprise attacks. Does NOT use up a melee attack. Normal dodge bonuses do not apply, but P.P. bonuses do.
Enhanced sense of smell: Character can instantly recognize odors (01-65%), recognize a person by scent like a dog (01-25%), and even track by smell (01-30%), provided the sent is not more than 2 hours old.
Enhanced sense of taste: Can taste for a specific flavor, discern specific ingredients and tell if a drink or food has been poisoned, drugged or spoiled. Chance for detection (01-55%), +20% if the chemical has a telltale taste or odor to begin with.
Enhanced sense of touch: Character recognizes very slight differences in textures by touch. Adds 10% to all skills that require a delicate touch such as Art, Demolitions, Palming, Pick Pockets, Pick Locks, Electronics, etc.
6. Enhanced Healing: Heals two times faster than normal. Virtually impervious to pain, no amount of pain will impair the Crazy until he is down to 10 HP or less. At that point the warrior will realize his condition and start to feel the effects of his injuries. However, the Crazy can go into an intense meditative trance that will induce Bio-Regeneration, healing damage in moments.
7. Crazies Bio-Regeneration: The Crazy must stop to slip into a meditative trance. While in the trance, he is completely helpless and cannot move or take any action. All of his concentration is being forced into an accelerated bio-feedback program that will restore 2D6 HP and 3D6 S.D.C., stops bleeding, and closes wounds in 2D4 minutes. An extended period of Crazies' Bio-Regeneration, over a period of 6 hours, will restore all S.D.C. and an additional 4D6 HP.

Phinneas perks his head up slightly. "Did he just say we are leaving Earth???" A slight sense of excitement is in his voice. "I think he just said we are leaving Earth! Did you hear that Jerrick?! Leaving Earth!!"

He thinks for a second. "How big of a reflective surface does this tunnel-ma-bob need to activate?" Thinking of the recent implant polishing he had done, Phinneas does not want a portal opened on his head.

He looks to Susan. "Hey Doc, looks like we're gonna have to speed that physical up so we can be best GIRL friends. We are gonna have soooo much fun!"

Jerrick had completely zoned out when the The Creator mentioned leaving Earth through a Portal. Did he just say we are leaving Earth through a portal. After traveling all the was across the world. Holy S**t. My second job as a mercenary will involve inter dimensional travel. Before MercTown I never left Dweomer. Now I am leaving Earth. Ok keep your cool. Don’t look too excited or terrified (note: he looks totally terrified.). You can do this Jerrick. You learned how to become proficient in magic from a ghost. You are the only person you have ever heard learned that way. Comparatively using said magic to protect your team and do a hard target search of an alien dimension with no comprehension of said dimension or its denizens will be a cake walk. At that by moment he is startled by hearing his name.
Amber Dach wrote: Sat Aug 13, 2022 5:44 pm She looks at Jerrick. "Jerrick, could you look after the TW Food & Water Purifier?"
After the initial startle at his name, he says “Sure, . . .” There is initial crack in his voice. He quickly clears his throat and finishes his intended statement. “. . .Amber, no problem.”

I can do this, it is only food and water. I mean like if I screw up, the lack of those things will kill us, but hey no pressure.

Jerrick starts hearing his father’s voice in his head. You worthless miserable sod. I am glad you aren’t going to try to go to the College. You would just fail at everything there too. And failure gets people killed. You have never had aptitude for anything. Your brother and sister have shown they are far more capable than you. You will end up probably living with us most of your life pursuing your punches and kicks, your back flips and target practice. You will be Dweomer’s own village idiot. Stay out of my sight and in a rubbage bin where you belong.

Jerrick realizes that he has been wringing his hands in fury. With a single tear streaming down his face. His face becomes firm and his mind stoic when Phinneas says,

“Yes Phinneas, I did. We have preparations to make. We have a job to do and this guy will not find himself.” He stands up and leaves the room to go prepare his gear and TW Water and Food purifier for travel.

When Susan speaks about the mission parameters, Amber's heart sinks. By the Gods! My first mission as leader and I totally botch what is going on! I must be tired. The rest of them don't know that by my rough calculations, I just spent what seemed liked months and months training in a pocket dimension, while they were relaxing here in town.

Amber smiles at Susan. "Thanks for correcting me, Susan. I must be tired from my travels." She looks around the table at the newcomers and reassures them. "I have some experience with dimensional travel and can now Read Portals. It doesn't tell everything about where the portal leads, but gives some basic information like is the dimension relatively dangerous/hostile or safe and whether or not the environment can support human life."

She shrugs. "Best to be prepared for anything though. Maybe get some Talisman of Sustain depending on how much they cost. Different worlds also have different energy matrices and sometimes tech won't work on those worlds too. Some worlds are very low on magic too. I would bring a variety of weapons just in case."

Amber's head tilts to the side as she thinks of one further question for 'The Creator'. "I would be remiss if I did not ask what our remuneration for this job would be." I know that my calling is more noble than mere mercenary work now, but I have to at least pretend to be one in order to get close enough to stop his scheming.

Amber also notices Eight moves its head slightly and looks at Phinneas and Jerrick, although does nothing else and the change is so slight, no one else sees it. Amber's gut drops as Susan pointedly addresses the mission parameters, although she recovers quickly and the entire time, the Creator seems amused. Once the questions cease, he nods. "As per the usual, Eight will be able to provide to exact details to the mission as well as provide immediate reference to the locations." He says rather dismissively, pausing for a good long moment before continuing.

"As too the device itself; it is an untested alien technology that I have successfully reverse engineered and put into action as a workable prototype. It does not give off lethal radiation; the tunnel it creates is specifically designed for safe passage. You only need a reflective surface big enough for the tunnel you need, and to be able to modify its settings. Currently those settings are locked down and believe me when I say even the fable Intelligence of the hills would struggle with its encryption. Right now, the limit is one 10x10 tunnel per day and there is no changing that. This give you a window, each tunnel remains active for one day. It is the safety measure I mentioned. I will not go into its operation, nor its functionality; neither are your purpose. It is safe for you to use and transport." The Creator explains about the safety and use of the device. "As to its handling, leave that entirely to Eight. No questions." He states firmly.
Amber wrote:"I would be remiss if I did not ask what our remuneration for this job would be."
The Creator leans forward in his seat so that the light in his eyes shines a bit more through the hologram. "Immediate release from my contract with a written clause that you will never hear from me or anyone associated to me again, and a ten million credit pay out. And as a bonus, after handing the employee over to me and being paid, you will be able to safely witness Eight Self-Destruct." The Creator says stoically. When he does, Amber notices Eight's head move from Jerrick and Phinneas and looks towards the projected image of the Creator. The android simply nods its head in acknowledgement.

The image of the Creator leans back and it is another pause until the Creator speaks again. "So, do you accept the terms of the mission?"

Phinneas is having a drink of water as The Creator starts discussing payment. At the sound of 10 million credits, he coughs slightly, which results in a spray of water across the table and through The Creator's hologram. "Sorry, I wasn't expecting that."

As Jerrick celebrates the payout, taunts Eight and quickly leaves the room, Phinneas shifts his glance towards Susan and twirls his finger next to his head. "Are you sure it's me that needs the physical Doc? He sure is an excitable fella. At least I KNOW I'm crazy..."

Looking to The Creator, "10 million credits and release from a contract I just got into? Sounds good to me and Boom Boom."

After the meeting is over, Phinneas will go to Amber and extend his hand to her, "Thanks for the opportunity. This has been and looks to be a continuingly lucrative position." Should Amber shake his hand, she will find a note palmed to her:

Amber, not being is this for the money, barely blinks when the 10 million credits payout is mentioned. She also doesn't bat an eye that Eight will be destroyed, knowing that it is a disposable tool for the 'Creator.' She is more interested in what the subtle look Eight has given the new GIRLS and what it may mean. Again with the look at the newbs. I’ll have to speak to Susan about this after privately. She seems to have a better insight into this machine than I do.

Maybe I should play some high-stakes poker with Jerrick, he has such an excellent poker face. Amber thinks wryly. Despite my talk with him during the last job, this kid still doesn't get what subtly is. “I guess Jerrick is excited to be a part of this assignment.” She says with a hint of resignation in her voice.

Amber states , “I’m also in.” It's an added bonus if it will get me far away from you, amoral Naruni.

Eight, could you give me the mission details and dossier on the employee and any of his associates that you are aware of. As well, everything you have on the dimension we will travel to. Analoy is pretty routine in her downtime after coming back from the short mission. Her days start early with a workout, same as a lot of people in this type of work like to do. She will give a nod of acknowledgement to any of the other team members she bumps into while working out but she stays quiet and lets the other person continue on the routine like she want to continue on hers. This is followed by the team's breakfast, served buffet style so the team members can come a go as their schedules allow.

The first day back after the team's breakfast, Analoy says, "I've got a personal project I'm working on and I'm sure you all having things that you have to do. So you're on your own for lunch but I'll have a team dinner ready by nineteen thirty." After that she runs up to MercTown and comes back a few hours later with an old SDC cargo van loaded with more that a dozen chest style coolers. The next day after breakfast, she goes back into the kitchen and starts making enough soup and sandwiches to feed an army. Then loads up her van and heads back into MercTown. If anyone chooses to follow, or happens to see her in town, they will find that she drives into the Warrens and is handing out the food to the homeless, focusing mainly on the children. When her van runs dry, Analoy hangs around for a while talking with anyone that wants to talk. She knows that no one trusts her but they'll gladly take what she's got to give, so its not long before she's driving back into the hangar.

Analoy leave dinner and the evening for team availability, if anyone chooses to do something But Susan departs the base for a stretch and then Amber, so Analoy can usually just be found in the kitchen prepping the lunch for the next day.

------

Analoy sits at the conference table quiet as ever. Like we have a choice with the Creator. He just wants to be business like in his asking. Though I'm surprised that he's offering a contract release clause. Business like as ever. Though who in the hell would we get to sew him to enforce it. Sure he can wave a contract around as he sends those Report bot things after people so he can enforce his part. Guess that means a contract is only really useful to the stronger party. Note to self, never sign a contract unless you are equal to or stronger then the other party. Though I don't remember signing a contract with this guy. At least not without being threatened.

She more or less ignores the new guys' antics, letting Amber handle them but she does grin a little as the mist from Phinneas' spit take passes through the hologram of the Creator. When the Creator has said his part and asks if they are in, Analoy turns to Amber and nods, "It all sounds reasonable to me. I've got no objection to the mission or its payout." She stays seated and waits for the Creator's hologram to disappear before she does anything else.

So... he(?) knows we hate spybot. And is either going to assassinate us or doesn't care about that much money. Which is entirely possible. Or is funneling us more money to have a more robust, deniable asset for later. There are at least three other possibilities.

Susan nods along as the Naruni delivers its final instructions, giving a thumbs up at the end. I see why they have a reputation for arrogance. Look at the new people dance to the song of 'money.'

She tries not to give anything away to either the 'Creator,' Eight, or her new teammates with her body language. When Phinneas spits, she fires up her personal forcefield, hoping it blocks liquids.

"Yes, Mr. Phinneas. Everyone receives a physical. We also provide health monitoring devices for all team members. Does... Mr. ... Boom.... Boom need one?"

Advanced schizophrenia with delusions is very bad. Has he been a crazy for a decade?!? Need to talk to Amber and Analoy immediately after this. Preferably in a cave. Underwater. In a Faraday cage.

He holds Boom Boom up for Susan to see clearly and spins the grenade all the way around.

Amber finds herself reluctantly agreeing to the Naruni after the gusto of the two newest members. The hologram with the Creator disconnects abruptly and Eight turns to Amber directly with a nod. "Of course. Please see this." Eight will project an image of a Uteni. "Reka Ola; Senior Researcher Naruni Weapons Division; over thirty years of service. He has no magic or noted mental abilities, however he is an adept with technologies and sciences should be considered armed and dangerous." The image flips to a small, book-sized technological box with a series of buttons and a screen on one side, and shows an odd mounting device. "The prototype; MWM-A. If you come in contact with this device, press this button and the device will enter a standby or deactivated state. If this device is attached to a surface, it requires a code to remove or that surface be broken." Eight explains, not really going any further about the device. The image of the device flips to the image of a planet.

"Habitat V-23; an unoccupied world charted by Naruni after coming into ownership of the neighboring star system. V-23 has only ever been used as a dumping ground, which is likely why Ola has hidden there. The residual radiation will be fairly high, obscuring some technical sensors. Also, prolonged exposure can lead to sickness. Within the dumping grounds of V-23 are countless failed, discontinued or forgotten projects. " Eight explains. "The radiation level is not so harmful you need full environmental suits, but it is recommended unless you can stomach the stench. V-23 is home to various documented natural predators that are no threat; there are no docuemnted sentient life; no documented supernatural life. A thorough review of the planet was made before choosing it as a dumping ground. We do not need to worry about collateral damage while there."

"Right now, we know he is on V-23, just not where. Upon arrival, we will have 24 hours to locate him, or else we risk him jumping to another location. Right now, he thinks he can hide there and make a plan or try using some of the dumped technologies against us. The moment he sees us, he will retreat and we will need to chase him to another dimension. If we do that, I will not have any prior knowledge of the area." Eight will continue.

"The mission is to capture both Reka Ola and the MWM-A and return them to the Creator. Our priority target is the MWM-A; once we have that, and it is safely in our hands again, you will be considered fulfilled." Eight finishes and will field any remaining questions. When no further questions, Eight finishes. "There is a flight that leaves for Manoa in two days. There will be transport to the facility from there, and there will be room for what vehicles you choose to bring."

With that, Eight will return to his spot by the front door and the GIRLS have two days to plan.

What are you doing?

Perception: 30% | 1d100: [89] = 89
JIC: 1d20: [6] = 6 | 1d100: [85] = 85

After the meeting with the Creator is over and Eight has finished its intel, Phinneas will get up from the table and leave the room. If noone gathers him for anything, he will spend time making sure both his personal Walkie and the radio on his Warbird cycle are tuned into the GIRLS frequency. He checks and packs whatever gear he has that would seem to be useful. Realizing he has nothing to deal with high radiation areas, he takes a quick stroll back to Northern Gun and takes a look at low cost Environmental armor (appropriate rolls in shopping thread). When he is finished being out and about, he will address the faded and scuffed paint on Mr Boom Boom. With any time left before heading to Manoa, he will assist with whatever packing is needed for the trip.

Amber takes in all the additional information given to them during the briefing. She asks a few quick questions of clarification about the world they will be travelling to. “Does this, Habitat V-23, have any ley line or nexus activity that has been noted? How big is this world? A planet is a extremely large area to hide in. Also, will our tech work there? I know that some worlds have a different energy matrix to this planet.” She waits for Eight’s answers, then adds. “Could you print me out a photo of Reka Ola?”

Man, where to start looking to find this guy. She begins to formulate a very rough plan in her head of what they need to take with them and how to find the missing Uteni. She gathers the GIRLS after the briefing is complete to figure out a plan. “Might as well start with this. Susan. I don’t like the sound of this radiation. According to Eight, if we are in EBA, that should protect us. But just in case, get whatever you think you need to treat radiation sickness and anything else you think in the way of meds or whatever.” She looks at the others. "If you don't have EBA, go get some unless you want to glow in the dark."

Amber shrugs as she speaks to the GIRLS. “So, for finding this guy, I can try to use my Psychic abilities when we get there to locate them. But I don’t really have any other ideas, short of physically looking around.”

A thought pops into Ambers head. It's a dumping ground for Naruni projects! Maybe we will get lucky! “Another question, Eight. Are any projects that Reka Ola worked on dumped here? If so, do you know a location on any of them or descriptions of the projects in question.”

She finishes addressing the GIRLS by saying, “If you have any other ideas, let’s hear them.”

"This may sound, well, crazy, but if we can get something that has the scent of our quarry, I MAY be able to track him by his scent. I will need something that isn't that old though, so that may pose a problem."

He scratches his head for a moment.

"Eight said the planet is a dump right?" Is there any possibility that we could be scavengers rooting through the Naruni junk for goodies that wouldn't make us look so obvious?"

He says, “I can help with intel, you intend to find an object that was once his and then use it to locate him, I assume. That is a solid plan. Even if Eight can’t point us to an object here, there is a decent chance we can find something on the planet like Phinneas suggested.” He sits down at the table. “With a picture I can get a birds eye view of whatever he is doing at any given moment, once every 24 hours. That should give us some intel and may give us insight into a way to take him alive.” He pauses. “I have never been off planet. I I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited at the prospect. Terrified but excited.” He leans back in the chair scans the room, and asks. “When we heading out?”

Analoy grins at the new guys, "All piss and courage. If you had stuck around you would have heard more intel. Our flight to Manoa leaves in two days. Then, based on our past experience, we will be teleported to the other planet. Phinneas, I don't think tracking by scent is a good option, on top of the fact that you'd have to stick your head outta your EBA, Eight said that there's a hell of a sink there. Something tells me whatever we bring will need one hell of a scrubbing down when we get back."

Analoy listens to Amber's questions to Eight and nods, I would not have thought to ask if Reka Ola had any projects dumped there. She says, "Hey, It's possible if he's been planning this for a while, he could have failed some projects on purpose just to get to them now, though I guess that's what you were thinking too. She turns to Phinneas, "Something tells me that the Naruni don't let just anyone go grubbing through they're trash. I don't think we're going to have to worry about anything native but just navigating through whatever's ben dumped there is going to be the real problem. Especially if there's something like R71 roaming around." She gives Amber a knowing look.

Analoy shrugs a bit when asked for other ideas, "I was thinking we could look for heat sources but Reka Ola will likely think to cover that is he's as smart as they are saying and who knows what those dumped projects were left to do. Though with an overhead picture and a thermo map we could check and see if any of the mess by the heat sources has been moved around." she shrugs a little, "But don't look at me. I'm no tech head. My radio and my bike are the most complicated things that I know how to work."

Amber nods in reply. “That was what I was going to attempt to do as well. If both of us give it an attempt once we land, we may get an impression of where he is.” She smiles reassuringly. “I have done some dimensional travelling. It is common for my people.” Little do they all know, I was in another dimension a few short days ago. I'll keep that knowledge to myself until we are done with this Naruni. “As long as you prepare properly, it is safe to do so." Amber feels she must caution the newcomer again. I hope Jerrick takes my advice as it is intended, not as criticism. "I like your enthusiasm, Jerrick, but a piece of advice. Have you heard the old Earth saying 'Fools rush in where angels fear to tread'? I means slow down a bit. Take a breath and think before rushing off. Caution is needed with dimensional travel. You never know what dangers you will find a new world.” She grins. "At the same time, don't hesitate to act either or that could kill you just as quick. I know, nice contradictory advice. You will figure it out with experience, but only if you survive."

They may have something specific that they are there after, or if it is something inhabitable, they may use it for refuge.” Amber returns the knowing look with one of her own. “Hopefully not, but best be prepared.” Hopefully there isn't anything like R71 there. Though it will surely remember the sting of my Psi-Sword and hopefully it would remember our freeing from torture too. Best be prepared for a double cross from Eight as well. It would be like the Naruni to trap us there.

Susan considers the many possibilities that she simply doesn't know about.

"Considering the nature of our task and the initial location... I'm not sure many kinds of technology will even be able to communicate through the background interference, let alone locate our target. I'd normally suggest that our best course is using magic or psychic abilities, such as a scroll of teleportation combined with some kind of psychic vision to take us directly to our quarry."

She pauses. "But I don't actually know if any of that would work or applies to our situation, just that this type of scroll exists."

"However, since we may lose track of our target and need to go to other dimensions, it would probably be wise to pick up some cheap observation drones as well as anti-radiation medication. If we're in the field longer, some kind of food and water producing items and/or an anti-radiation shelter would be needed. Perhaps a techno-wizard device."

Then Susan waves her hands in the air in frustration. "This isn't my field of expertise! I'm not a manhunter!"

How can I get to Hartigan and Shari... shopping?

"I can take lead on finding the drones at the very least."

[Q&A]

Immediately after the briefing, everyone splits and goes to get ready or aid others in doing so. Amber asks clarification questions to Eight. "V-23 has sporadic Ley Line Activity and is classified as a satellite. It's size is approximately 40% of this planet, although its independent orbit, lack of life in the system and the natural radiation of the planet are the reasons it was chosen. Of that 40%, approximately 15% of the surface is a mixture of liquids and acids with the predominant liquid being Liquid Nitrogen; the water is unlivable so we only need be concerned with the land mass. The hard surface makes digging without specialized equipment impossible and the planet was flattened by Naruni ships before it became a dumping ground. The only places to hide are in the dumping sites. There are two main sites used; Site 1 is essentially a ship graveyard and takes up much of the land mass. Site 1 has several automated robo-walkers that demolish and melt down the ships; while they are not aggressive, they are programmed to see anything that lives a threat to Naruni, so we will need to be careful if we need to go there." Eight explains to Amber and anyone else listening. "Site 2 is much smaller but just as deadly. Site 2 consists of 49,142 storage containers each 30x10x10 called TEUs. Each of these containers holds a failed experiment of some sort. Further; we can expect a ship to fly over and discard something every 4-8 hours; with the natural radiation on the planet, they will not be able to detect life signs while flying. On the ground, everything will function except thermals, but there is a natural layer of radiation that is much stronger that blankets much of the planet; do not fly above 1,000ft under any circumstance without a vehicle with shields, that higher layer of radiation can eat through hyper-dense metals; even the star ships that are deposited lose some mass during the fall." Eight explains in full detail. He will also upload a holo of Reka Ola which to almost anyone looks like your run-of-the-mill Uteni however Amber is able to note a specific scar on the lower chin running down to the right, down the neck. It is so extremely faint that anyone else merely sees it as a line in the holographic image and dismisses it just as easily.

When asked about Reka Ola's projects, Eight pauses. "Technically, yes. Officially, no. All projects belong to their Patron, regardless of others who may be involved. For the duration of Ola's tenure, he was an employee to the Creator. However, the creator has 2 items in site 1; both decommissioned ships. He also has 11 TEUs at site 2. Each TEU is numbered; each grouping of numbers has a designated bloc in S2, within that bloc there is no order; so we will still need to search for them but we will not need to search all 49,000 TEUs. I do not have any details about the decoms." Eight explains. Eight glances between Analoy and Amber. "That would give Ola the advantage has he would know which projects were his and which ones weren't. We do not have that information." Eight states.

Once the Q&A is done, Eight will return to the door and/or aid as requested. Everyone else is free to finalize their preparations and go complete last minute errands.

[Susan - And anyone else who goes out to go shopping.]

After the Q&A, Susan (and whoever is Co.) leave with two things in mind; mission prep and talking to Sharee and Brooks. Susan can elect to go shopping before or after meeting with the duo, but at some point makes her way to their crib when she is confident Eight is confirmed to be still at the Hangar. When Susan gets there, she is immediately greeted by an old-style handgun held by a partially injured Sharee. She drops the gun with a grunt and half smile and waves Susan in, shutting the door behind her/them. "Superficial." Sharee mutters if Susan tries to tend to, or ask her if she's okay. Sharee will instead lead Susan to the second room where a much more injured Brooks is laying in makeshift bandages. "He won't let me take him to the hospital." Sharee says quietly to Susan but before Susan would even be able to reply, Brooks grunts.

"Hey. We found something you can use to nail this Naruni-freak. Ha. Erm.." He starts coughing and Susan (and Co.) will see small specs of blood in his hand until his cough dies down. "Damn it. Here." He will hand Susan a data-pad and when she looks at it, she will see an image that resembles Eight, maybe less sleek, with various number IDs. Changing pages opens up a partially redacted system specifications for what appears to be a line of robot models. "It doesn't have everything. But if you study that, its a treasure trove. Might be the first step to bringing down his entire fucking regime." Brooks says through a cough, clutching his abdomen.

If inspected, it is revealed Brooks has two clean and through puncture wounds, one in his lower abdomen one near his heart. Susan's cursory analysis would suggest Brooks was attacked, left for dead and saved barely. Each wound, on the front and back of his body, has been cauterized making gauging internal damage impossible without a more thorough investigation.

Well, I guess if this was supposed to be easy we wouldn't be getting the payout we've been offered."

Analoy turns back to Eight and asks, "Is there any chance at this point that we can get dropped onto the planet in one of those TEU containers?"

With her gripe and one last question asked, Analoy turns to the rest of the team and says, "I've got a few abilities I can use and a snare gun that will help catch this guy alive. Amber listens intently to the briefing on the planet and crinkles her nose as additional information comes. This is going to be finding a needle in a haystack. “Eight, I have a few more questions. Will our comms work there? These decommissioned ships that belonged to the Creator, do you have floor plans for them? How far apart are site 1 and site 2?”

Amber inwardly shakes her head. This makes no sense to me either. Maybe a failed experiment could work with another project. For all their smarts, it would make more sense to keep projects available for others to use. “That would be a good way to ingress covertly. But, we would need to know that Ola is actually at the TEU’s before we got there. I will spend some time in meditation to see if I can get a glimpse of where Ola is located.”

Amber nods, “Good point, Analoy. I can paralyse him for a short time, but nothing long term.” She looks at Susan. “Maybe he could be incapacitated chemically? I don’t know anything about Uteni physiology and whether that is possible. Eight, do you have medical profile available for Ola? It wouldn’t be good to give him something that he is allergic to either.”

She looks around the table at whoever is remaining there. “Anything else? If not, get any gear you need, complete your prep and be ready to go as soon as possible.”

[Later that day]
Amber goes out and completes her shopping that day and once she is back home to the Hangar and settled, she locks the door to her bedroom and gets comfortable.

She gathers up the photo of Reka Ola and concentrates on his location using Remote Viewing. If she is unsuccessful at getting a glimpse of where Ola is, she will attempt again the next day… and so on until they leave.

She then uses Precognition to get a glimpse of the future with relation to this mission involving Ola. She will make multiple attempts each day. (OCC – can make 8 attempts per day)

Perception: 45% | 1d100: [70] = 70
JIC: 1d20: [16] = 16 | 1d100: [67] = 67

Phinneas returns to GIRLS HQ with his new armor. He gets the radio tuned in to the proper frequency and then puts the armor on. As someone who doesn't regularly wear armor, he wants to know what limitations it may impose on him. He finds different activities to do to test out his skills.

He tries climbing a support beam of the HQ. Climbing 70%-5%= 65% | 1d100: [89] = 89

He tries to dance.
Dance 50%-5%= 50% | 1d100: [8] = 8

He finds a railing to test his balance.
Sense of Balance 73%-5%= 68% 1d100: [93] = 93

He tries a backflip.
Back Flip 92%-5%= 87% | 1d100: [75] = 75

He finds a rope and goes to the roof. He ties off the rope and will rappel down and then climb up.
Rappel 82%-5%= 77% | 1d100: [9] = 9
Climb Rope 82%-5%= 77% | 1d100: [25] = 25

When Jerrick returns, Phinneas will try to sneak up on him.
Prowl 55%-5%= 50% | 1d100: [36] = 36

Seeing his strengths and weaknesses in the armor, he will nurse a slightly bruised ego and make mental notes of what may need adjustment so he can perform better later if needed. He finishes his last minute preps and gets ready for the trip to Manoa.

After buying two cheap flying spotter drones, Susan goes to visit Sharee and Brooks.

As soon as she realizes that Brooks is injured, she swings into action, opening up her transportable medical kit and doing what she can to get him healing and stabilized, even it requires burning an IRMSS charge.

"This will hold for now, but you need to find a psychic or magic healer. This is MercTown. You should be able to find someone who will visit you anonymously and ask no questions. Use a cutout. Be smart."

Susan glances at the datapad, then starts downloading a copy of everything on it to her arm computer. "The arm computer was a dumb choice I made as a teen. I'm going to get it removed, but I guess it's worth it this one and only time."

"I'll go over this more fully later, but you should keep a copy as leverage. Hell, you could always just release it widely if you set up a kill switch."

I need to set up a kill switch trigger. Maybe to... uh... Atlantis? Other Naruni?

"Before I leave, I need to tell you that we've been tasked with reacquiring a dimensional device. Killing or capturing your client is optional. If you can arrange for him to leave the device somewhere for us, that would simplify things for everyone. We'll be leaving soon, so let me know as quickly as you can. Otherwise, I suppose try to find someone who can send a magical or psychic message between dimensions."

Susan gives them a scalpel as a personal item that might work for this type of communication.

Eight will remain to answer any questions left to him, starting with Analoy to whom he nods. "That was going to be our entry point; however the Creator doesn't control exactly where we land. The entire system is automated and the authorization to access it is beyond even the Creator. Ideally, we are dropped near the other eleven TEUs. I will be able to identify them by number, but that requires physical inspection. The other option is to drop you between the two sites." Eight explains. Then turning to Amber. "Radios will work at half of their effective range, which is fine as we should not be spread that far apart on this planet anyways. I do not have floor plans as they were decommissioned and never made it to production phase; I will be able to access their systems if they have power, however. Even limited power would allow me to download a schematic." Eight begins. "Site 1 and 2 are not close. Think of the land mass as one continent with several smaller continents that have limited land mass. The sites are separated by roughly two hundred miles of barren land with pockets of liquid nitrogen lakes. Site 1 is much easier to access from any angle, whereas the Site 2 has main drop points and no ground access. We will need to hop its containment fence when and if we need to go to Site 1." Eight explains and will also provide a medical profile of the Uteni (see RCC).

Once questioning is done, the rest of those at the Hangar split off with Amber heading off to do some meditation, trying her best to get a glimpse, to shed light on the uncertainty of this mission. Her first session is met with an eerie silence in her mind. As Amber goes to get up and ready for another meditation attempt, she stumbles as she receives a

Phinneas returns from his shopping in his new drags and begins going above and beyond in testing its capabilities; starting first with an epically crazy break-dance (feel free to describe your dance). Then jumps up on the railing and immediately slips off and falls over the other side and lands comically on his face. Shaking it off, he jumps up and does a backflip and nails it with a stomp. Determined, Phinneas scavenges the hangar for a rope (and finds some excellent Nylon Rope in Analoy's area) that he goes to the roof of the hangar with. Phinneas rappels from the roof of the hangar with a form that would make the most stubborn military instructor proud, equally so at his climbing speed. Phinneas is quite pleased with his new armor, so much so, he readies an ambush for his fellow teammate.

[The Crib]

Susan appears to have gone alone and immediately chastises Brooks for not seeking black market help, which Sharee immediately exclaims. "SEE! Even She says it! Dimwit." Sharee snorts and walks away from Brooks who mutters something but shrugs as Susan patches him up to where he can move a little more.

"There's a copy at the bank, one in my hovercar, one on that counter." Sharee answers, almost mockingly sarcastic towards Brooks, walking past again with some water for Brooks and a drink for the two adults. "But we wanted you to have one, and couldn't trust it to just be left somewhere. Hand to hand, sort of thing." Sharee adds as she sits across from Brooks and the two listen to Susan's brief about their next mission.

"Honestly haven't heard from them in a while but that explains why. I'll leave a message at our normal drop point he insisted would always be able to reach him; but no promises." Brooks says with a shrug before shaking his head and reaching past his water to Sharee's drink. "Scientists. Alien Scientists to boot. Ugh" Brooks sighs, shaking his head as Sharee slaps him haphazardly.

"What do you think she is?" Sharee mocks Brooks, swiping the drink from him.

Susan can elect to hang out with them for a little longer, but won't receive any further information without studying the datapad.

Amber sits down and thinks about the visions of possible futures she has seen during her meditations. The first one isn’t good. A horde of droids threatening to overwhelm us and almost losing Susan. We will have to be careful in the TEUs. The second vision isn’t very overtly dangerous at first glance but where is Eight? Does that vision lead into the third one with Eight and the Uteni fighting and falling through the portal? She holds her head in her hands and sighs. Should I tell the rest of the GIRLS about these visions knowing that they are only possible futures? I guess I should. The one thing that seems clear to me so far is that the Uteni seems to be found at Site 1 in one of the ships and that the TEUs seem to be more dangerous.

Amber will seek out Eight again to ask another question before she tells the GIRLS about her visions. “If I understood your briefing, there are only the automated robo-walkers present at Site 1. Am I correct?” She awaits a reply before continuing. “I’m going to give you a description of some droids, can you identify what they are and where they came from?” She taps into her memory and gives a detailed description of the droids from her vision to see if Eight can identify them. “Oh, one more thing. Does Reka Ola have any expertise in designing artificial intelligence or building robots?"

Once the GIRLS have returned from their various errands, she will gather them and tell them about her visions of the future. She describes them in as much detail as she can remember. She pauses when she has finished and speaks. “I have my own thoughts on what I have seen, but would like your opinions before I give mine. Hopefully we can figure out a plan forward using my visions that allows us to successfully complete our mission and return from it too.”

Perception: 45% | 1d100: [66] = 66
JIC: 1d20: [4] = 4 | 1d100: [35] = 35

Aside from a minor mis-step while trying to balance on the railing, testing of the new armor has Phinneas so pleased that he frenzies into a dance. He moves so fluid and cleanly that it almost appears that multiple people are dancing with him.

(OOC: I don't know much about break dancing to verbally describe. Here is one of my favorite videos.

When he is finished and ready, Phinneas gathers with the other team members and listens to Amber's visions.

"I knew it. This is a suicide mission."

When Amber asks for thoughts from everyone, he will ask her for a moment's patience. He leaves to his room, and when he returns he says "Thanks. Had to take care of that real quick" and palms Amber another note.

When Amber reads it she will see:

"Sorry about this again but I'm not very trusting of the robot. I wish there was a better way to do this without worrying what is heard. If your visions are true, I'm thinking that our employer may try to leave us in that dump permanently. Is there a way to disable Eight? EMP maybe. I'm excited about going but not too excited at the prospect of being abandoned."

Jerrick listens to Ambers vision. He contemplates for a moment. “ Then to the surprise of everyone he says something relevant and insightful. “Amber, I have some experience with Precogs, and I do not envy your ability. It is more a curse than a blessing, because it raises so many problems and obstacles to action. For you to see these visions means that at some point these things happen, for if we change them the visions would not exist. Even if you believe in multiverse theory then the the visions are simply a vision of another universe then they are useless because we don’t know enough about that universe’s events that brought about those visions. Any changes we make to our planning now may be what leads to those events, as can changing nothing. As much as I really want to know what these visions mean, they only show us one thing. This will be one of the most difficult challenges we have and possibly ever will undertake. We will need to be on our A game if we are to survive, let alone succeed. I think it would be understandable if everyone in this room was feeling a hole of their gut telling them to abandon this task. However my gut tells me that our differences and diverse skills are exactly what is needed to succeed, we just have to be as strategic as possible in the application of those skills. And Phinneas your break dancing skills are on point.” He then sits down and stares ahead in contemplation.

Analoy looks over to Jerrick, "Aren't you just the sweetest thing. Assuming this is the hardest thing we've ever done." She gives the man a smile and looks back to Amber, "We're gonna do what we're gonna do. The only vision that concerns me is that last one. Means we lose Reka and the device. Means we also don't get paid or we're going through the looking glass too."

Analoy tips her head back and forth for a moment as she thinks over the plan, "So we drop in on a TEU container. Slip out of it and start looking around to locate The Creator's other TEU's and hope the Reka is using one of them. Ah, the fun of a good game of hide and seek." She starts picking at her nails, A wee bit over simplified but with so many variables it works.

She looks around at the others, "When we're done here, I think I'm going over to the Naruni store and having a force field added to the armor I'm bringing. Anyone is welcome to come with."

Those hordes in the vision looked like they could use some thinning. "I need some grenades for back up to my magic. Looks like we may need to be able to do some crowd thinning."

"Each Site's Containment Field is separated by large pylons which generate a field of energy inbetween them that extends above. Our egress will be at any one of the pylons. Each are designed to allow access for Naruni personnel with the right codes for maintenance. No installed security in Site 2; Site 1 has the Robo-Walkers which can bring down cruisers by themselves however they are not designed to hunt down ground threats." Eight outlines the powerful but limited security on the planet. Eight listens to Amber's question and nods. "Correct; the Robo-Walkers are the only authorized autonomous presence." Eight confirms and then listens to the description. "I do not have records on that specific project, but they appear similar to a model the Creator is prototyping. It is possible these are an early incarnation. Reka Ola was a Robotics Lead, instrumental in some of my own earlier iterations." Eight explains. When Amber leaves Eight, Eight doesn't move to follow or anything.

Amber, Analoy, Jerrick and Phinneas are able to meet in relative security inside the Hangar and then head out to do more shopping before leaving.

[Crib]

Susan kicks back after giving Brooks some basic but overcharged medical attention and then starts reading the datapad. Most of it is in an alien language she's never seen on Earth before however there are a fair amount of diagrams that she can partially decipher. It appears as mechanical blueprints to various projects with fairly detailed information but currently impossible to read. As Susan scans through it, she sees a similar image to Eight titled "HK-001" to "HK-004" that shows various models of this android.

Susan's attention is suddenly distracted as she hears a loud knock on the door to the crib that makes Sharee next to her jump and Brooks instinctually reach for his weapon. Susan sees Brooks do the 'kill it' motion as Sharee mouths 'No one's home.' To the door. Another minute, there is another repeated knock.
