Bonus: Name the Crew

[Underguard]

There are 8 NPC positions on the Horizon. These NPCs serve as the key support structure to the team. They will be there when you aren't. They are who commands the ship when you go to ground. They are who pick you up in emergencies, who patch you when you can't yourself and who will defend you with their lives. What I want is for some character to be given to these NPCs and it be done by more than just me.

They should follo this format. See below.

Name: Jeffrey Moreau
Rank/Position: Ensign/Pilot
Race/Gender: Human/Male
Disposition: A general issue with authority, he is at home when in the pilot's seat of a vessel. He has a physical disability which has never prevented him from piloting, but has inhibited him in almost every other aspect. He never abandons his team and has received marks for being one of the better pilots in the fleet. Don't ask him to go to ceremonies or a firing range, but he'll try to outdrink anyone who asks and can fly circles around many of the Fleet's psionic pilots.

Follow the above format.

Below are the positions that need to be filled.

- Do not assign their OCC
- Do not assign a rank above Ensign. Use naval ranks, I'll adjust if need be.
- Only choose from CAF-core races (with varied exceptions)
- Do not complete more than one entry until 28FEB23 -- If not everyone has created an entry, it becomes fair game and you can make as many as are left.
- These are CAF Soldiers. Not Mercenaries. Not Traitors or Instigators. Go forward with that knowledge.
- Each completed entry that I approve nets the PC 500 XP points.

Name: Liam 'Silverhand' Sutherland
Rank/Position: Ensign/Back-up Pilot
Race/Gender: Human/Male
Disposition: Liam boasts a unique history for a pilot. For a time he served successfully as a tank commander, where in the heady days of youth he felt invincible. That changed when he was nearly crushed to death in his cockpit in battle against a Kreeghor task force. Rescuers managed to save him, but he lost his left hand. Doctors provided him with a bionic replacement, which he had plated in shining silver chrome.

Ten years on and now a pilot, Liam is a study in calm competency. With seemingly endless patience he silently evaluates each situation; in the cockpit and the company of others. A talented pilot and superior marksman, Liam is also an avid gamer and grandmaster in the old arcade classic Galaga XIII. He will politely but ruthlessly kick the ass of anyone in the ship at any shooter you care to name. Any day. Every day. All day. Anyone who complains is met with his upraised silver hand, and one of his calm deadpan "Talk to the Hand" retorts.

Secretly he yearns for a duel against a Kreeghor ace-pilot. A chance to avenge his wounds. It is a feeling he has kept to himself and the only time he might truly lose his cool.

Name: Eugene 'Shooter' Tackleberry
Rank/Position: Specialist/Security Personnel
Race/Gender: Catyr/Male
Disposition: A highly devoted red-skinned catyr security officer, Tackleberry rapidly gained the attention of superiors for his zeal, diligence and attention to detail. He is young for his station, at a tender age and eager. He lacks patience and without guidance tends to rush headlong into situations. Tackleberry does however follow orders to the letter and has an unquestioning devotion to authority.

He has bronze hair that he keeps cropped close to his scalp as he insists this is better in hand to hand grappling situations. Almost always he wears mirrored sunglasses which he says are prescribed to him to prevent migraines. Tackleberry wears his red security officer uniform with pride and keeps both his uniform and boots highly polished.

He dreams of saving the life of a superior officer against insurmountable odds. With his promotion to the Horizon he hopes someday soon he will be asked to protect an away mission whereby an opportunity will come to prove his devotion to duty.

When off duty, he can be found working out, practicing combat techniques or enjoying blowing things up at the firing range. For better or worse, this dedicated security officer has no other life.

[Nyx Tempest]

Name: Garth Blackmoon
Rank/Position: Chief Petty Officer (E-7)/ Security Personnel
Race/Gender: Wolfen/Male
Disposition: Highly trained SF soldier, Garth took the posting of security lead for the Horizon to offer him a little stability in his life. Jumping from one deployment to another. Garth has never stayed in one place for more then a few months at a time. A career soldier, Garth has been married four times and has six kids. One might think he took this posting to get away from family issues. Most of his pay covers their expenses. Garth is dedicated to the CAF ideals. Garth can tell his subordinate has ambitions. He has seen it many times, usually they don't end well. Garth can have a mentor attitude when he needs it, but generally keeps a professional attitude when the officers are around.

Garth is darker then normal Wolfen. His fur is a mix of black and dark grey, with a few lines of white thrown around.

Garth looks forward to finally retiring with a mate he can stand, or that can stand his many quirks picked up from a lifetime of military service. Garth can retire in five years, but will likely continue service for another 15 years if allowed to.

Name that Crew ... person

Name: Akari Cynna Kobayashi
Rank/Position: Engineering Personnel
Race/Gender: Oni/Female
Disposition: Akari is a skilled engineer and mechanic who spent the last 5 years serving on a CAF Interdictor [DB 13 Pg 40], the Chiaki-Mukai, so reassignment to the Horizon on this expedition is an annoyance to her as she believed that she would end up on the Dreadnaught instead of one of the smaller craft. She is driven while quiet and reserved. Akari plans on moving up through the CAF and that often means going to larger and larger vessels for additional prestige. The Horizon bucks the trend, it is smaller but the style and ship are experimental so, that's prestigious right?? ... Then again if this crew are not successful enough, it might be a blemish on her ascension. She has served in the CAF for nearly 30 years and expects to put in another 10, though if Horizon draws her off course, she may have to put in 20 to land in a prestigious post-service career.
Akari will eventually figure out her high level of competency with cutting edge CAF systems is why she is on this experimental craft. Her actual knowledge (as opposed to psychically feeling around) means she may damn well be more skilled than either of the field-engineering team (Makos and Walkr).

Name: Garrett Barrett
Rank/Position: Medic, Sergeant
Race: Human
Disposition: New to being a member of a ship’s crew, having operated primarily in planet surface posts, Garrett joined the mission with hopes to be part of history, and to escape a crazy girlfriend that he was too meek to break up with. Before departure said girlfriend, a botanist and daughter of a high ranking CAF official joined as part of scientific analytics after Daddy pulled some strings. He didn’t find out until after departure. Now he works insane hours in Sick Bay earning the respect of Ensign Drago, who respects his work ethic and is oblivious to the true motivation. He is always happy an positive about work because it is so much better than the alternative.

Name: Rachael 'Tick Tock' Morgan
Rank/Position: Ensign/Engineering Personnel
Race/Gender: Human/Female
Disposition: Rachael graduated in stellar engineering at the top of her class. After short stints elsewhere she has been assigned to the Horizon to help maintain the ship. She is not motivated by rank, but rather opportunities to expand her beloved collection of ancient clockwork timepieces. In an age of star travel and near-sentient computers, these quaint devices are one of the two ways she finds relaxation. The other is playing the bagpipes.

She has a methodical and logical mind underneath her outward eccentricity. Rachael is good friends with Akari, whom she calls the ship's 'Ninjaneer'. In her heart, she carries a flame for the pilot Liam, though she would never openly admit this. Rachael is often the first to challenge Liam in his arcade games, and though she has not yet won a match she is improving markedly. Her plan is to ask him out the day she defeats him in Galaga XIII.

Despite her quirks, or perhaps because of them, Rachael is an outstanding engineer and an asset to the team.

Name: Dr Jard Aten
Rank/Position: Medical Personnel
Race/Gender: Space Wolfen/Male
Disposition: Dr Aten is a white-furred wolfen of middle years. He was orphaned at age seven when his mother was killed in a starship disaster. He survived, but with extensive nerve damage in his left leg. He uses a cane to walk and has steadfastly refused any form of bionic replacement. His view is that the hardships he faces on a daily basis makes him a better and more compassionate doctor.

The doctor has few friends, though his general attitude and actions lend patients to trust him. He mostly keeps to himself in the medical bay and is extremely perceptive of his patients. So much so that some believe he possesses some unknown psi ability. He has a calm demeanor, but in those rare times he is angered he has a voice that can cut through steel.
