When Lenok answers:
Lenok wrote: Mon Jan 16, 2023 10:49 pm Lenok responds back on the radio while responding back to Sicilia, so that Chasity can hear it too. "Been busy indeed, took out a squad of demons and some sort of boss for them while scouting, I got all of it recorded on the suit drive, and a conversation at this moment with Steiblah, a cat demon who strangely seems like he wants to help, he has some sort of rock lobster thing with him that is a sort of prison guard as he is being forced to do some work for a creature that Steiblah called a Djinn, Al Aden has made some demonic pact with. From the information I have gathered, the demon is most likely using Aden's plans to invade. They have some sort of machine they are using to communicate with and keep the demons here."
Looking up as Chasity gets closer due to the sound her type of flight makes, he will drop his invisibility.
Chastity thinks, OK, so the cat demon is purportedly friendly, not that I trust a demon in general.

She pops back up higher for a better look and sees Lenok is now visible. She also sees the rock demon attack the cat demon.

She thinks, For now, I will trust Lenok's judgement, unless I see signs of that being compromised. That makes Rocky Demon my target.

She shifts her arm to help focus her blast and starts peppering the rock demon with force blasts..when she can get a clear shot in.

Edison watches Iron Maiden fly off, and begins his walk. As Sicilia and Edison travel, Edison is thinking about the situation. A lack of team cohesion seems to be the major issue, they're all individuals forced to work together. Might be something to bring up to the brass... No real point in beting a dead horse now, the damage is done. Edison ponders.

As the duo gets near the building, Edison listens to Sicilia's telepathic ponderings.
Sicilia wrote:I can still smell demons up there, I can't hear any fighting, though. Don't know if that means that Lenok flew off or was... defeated.

Looks like a cat-thing and a lobster stealing my thing are having a disagreement... Cat's got a collar like the big one in the forest did. Demon killer, maybe?
"The demons could be dead." Edison initially says, before Sicilia mentions the two others. "Maybe Lenok left, but I don't reason why. Well no sense in waiting around, lets get closer and see what happens." Edison says as he gestures to the opening in the gate.

Once Edison can see for himself what is going on, Edison isn't sure what to think of the situation. "What the hell is actually going on?" Edison says. Edison watches Iron Maiden start attacking one of the two demons, and Lenok appearing out of nowhere, and attacking as well. "Well I have no idea what to think." Edison says as he keeps moving forward. "My guns are all short ranged now, so we're gonna have to get closer."

Steiblah: 25 S.D.C. (forcefield)/ 2 S.D.C. / 180 I.S.P. / 95 P.P.E.
Gearwolf - incapacitated but all parts collected, will begin healing overnight

Steiblah is trying his best to avoid any conflict with his pursuer Gawoo. As Gawoo tries to subdue the reformed demon and take him back to his personal hell, Steiblah casually moves out of the way. The evades the first two lunges with casual side steps that almost look like parkour. But when Gawoo swings its claw at Steiblah, the Raksasha shows cat like reflexs in nimbly ducking under the strike.
Steiblah wrote:"Woah, careful, those claws are sharp! You've been reasonable so far, Gawoo, why not a bit more?"
Gawoo growls as it swings its claws again. Translation: This farce has gone on long enough. You are not allowed to leave your Rock unless you are wearing the collar around your neck. I am going to drag you back now!

The noise catches Lenok's ear, and instead of going to get Iron Maiden he looks back as Steiblah summons a forcefield to protect himself from the monster. Gawoo strikes the forcefield with its claw (-25 S.D.C.) as Steiblah tries to reason with it.
Steiblah wrote:"This isn't you acting this way..."
Gawoo snarls again: I am an extension of a Rock. I literally exist only to-

Before the monster can finish its growl it feels a sword through its back and out its chest. Gawoo twists its head to confront its attacker, Lenok.
Lenok wrote:"I think Gawoo has run out of patience."
The monster turns around, wresting the sword out of Lenok's hand, and snaps for the dragon's throat. Lenok cranes his head backwards and then snaps his whole body forward leading with his right claw. The claw goes right through Gawoo, who shatters like glass and then dissolves into the either. In the same motion, Lenok twists his wrist and catches his sword before it hits the ground. Steiblah watches in shock as the whole fight ends so quickly.
Steiblah wrote:"Won't you think about the children?!"
The reformed demon is not alone. From the road leading to the Aden Mansion, Edison and Sicilia watch the fight. On the opposite side of the garage Iron Maiden also sees the fight happen. The members of Bravo quickly run over to the middle of the courtyard to regroup with Lenok and introduce themselves to Steiblah. They will have about two minutes to do so before the front door of the mansion opens.

"What is going on here?" A tall broad shouldered man in a light brown three piece suit storms out barking orders. Despite his size, over six and a half feet tall and almost as wide, he looks lean and muscular. His face is thin, and his trimmed beard highlights his sharp jawline and cheekbones. He glares at Steiblah.

"Are you the new help? " Steiblah looks deep into those black eyes that seem to glow red. He can spot a fellow Greater Demon, even when it is taking on a human guise.

Then, the man looks at the Omegas. "And you. Why are you trespassing on my client's property? Explain yourselves!"

Gawoo's sudden shattering by Lenok's hand draws a look of astonishment from the Raksasha. That was sudden and unexpected. I wonder if Gawoo, fragment of the Rock is truly gone or simply had its essence returned to the dimensional ether. Does that mean Gawoo was never able to be redeemed? Do I need to re-evaluate whether redemption of the Rocks should continue to be a short-term goal?

Steiblah's musings are interrupted by the appearance of the doorman.

Lenok has a quizzical look at first upon his face till the wink occurs, and then he relaxes a bit. He projects a thought to Sicilia, hoping she is listening in ~Let's play along, and if he betrays us then I will personally eviscerate him.~
Greater Demon wrote: Then, the man looks at the Omegas. "And you. Why are you trespassing on my client's property? Explain yourselves!"
Lenok with a flat, dead pan look upon his face, looks unceremoniously at the Demon after it's demand for an answer, as if the demon doesn't realize the jig is already up. Lenok without speaking loudly, but to the group, while still looking directly at the new demon "Someone tell me he's joking, does he honestly think a ring of serial killing, demon worshipers, trying to take over the world is going to thwart justice with trespassing claims?"

Then, under his breath, "Screw this" Lenok launches himself in full flight at the demon, Sword first, then followed by a gut wrenching claw into where the creatures stomach should be. The assault is alternating between blade and claw, and when the blade meets it's unholy flesh, he bequeaths the blade the power of lightening to be forcefully injected into the monster.

Edison watches the conflict between Lenok, Steiblah, and Gawoo with a detached interest. To Edison the past forty or so hours have been taxing in almost every way. Once the fight is over, Edison speaks up. "So two things. Who are you?" Edison says pointing at Steiblah. "And are you alright Lenok?" Edison asks looking to Lenok.

Whether they answer or not, Edison's attention turns to the door opening.

"Are you shitting me." Edison says under his breath. "I don't think we have all day to list the crimes that have been perpetrated in the area in just the past week. Please surrender quietly and we can move on..." Edison says before Lenok flies at the man. "or not. Damn it!" Edison finishes.

Edison quick draws his pistols and prepares to begin firing shots into the man. I'm gonna lose my job once again. Edison thinks on the train wreck this investigation has been.

Sicilia is somewhat flabbergasted at the sequence of events going on in front of her. She can't help herself any longer, and uses the brief interlude of calm to whip out her tablet and tap away at it with her tongue. There is just too much going on here! she thinks to herself as she puts in several lines of notes so horribly abbreviated that should her old professors see them she would have had her degree in journalism revoked.

Fortunately, they aren't here. Instead, her brief on-field journalism is interrupted by yet another person. She hisses shortly in irritation, slipping her tablet away and readying herself for combat. Her sharp tongue flicks out and notes the distinct tones of not-human scent coming from him and helping identify him as a demon, if the creepy demon-eyes weren't enough of a clue.

Sicilia, rather unfortunately, is only able to transmit her thoughts to others, not receive telepathic responses, and as such merely tilts her head in confusion at the exchange between the cat and dragon before all hell breaks out. Again. You know, it's really hard to get my notes together when we keep stopping every fifteen seconds to fight things! she calls out mentally to her companions, Steiblah getting looped into the strange mental transmission by matter of proximity.

Under Edison's covering fire, Sicilia transforms into stone once again, obsidian scales gleaming as she slithers up to and past Lenok's feet, coiling up behind the potential demon and flanking him with her reptilian companion.

Then, the man looks at the Omegas. "And you. Why are you trespassing on my client's property? Explain yourselves!"
She attempts to say, "Sir, we are officers of the law from Century City who were invited here to investigate the disappearance of some local campers. We have followed the clues to this area, where we were attacked by a number of strange creatures and discovered a number of dead human bodies. As per uniform legal codes, when we have probable cause to suspect an area of being a crime scene and possibly holding vital evidence we are empowered to secure the area to prevent loss of evidence. Please do not try to interfere with our doing our duty."

Not that she expected to be believed, given her current state of dress. It did not matter because before she could finish she was interrupted.

She elects to stand back and wait, in her experience Lenok is very powerful and capable, she would probably just be in the way. In case this person somehow beats the dragon in human form, she will be ready to act.

The Omegas, along with the newly arrived Steiblah, have confronted what seems to be the source of the evil on Lake Tatsiumpi in the form of a Greater Demon. This demon seems to be expecting Steiblah, and snarls orders at him.
Stieblah wrote:"Benée sent me. Let's go see the boss-man, shall we?"
"He's expecting you in the library," the demon barks pointing to the front door of the mansion. "Tell him to have the machine activated. I will join him after I deal with the trespassers" Once Steiblah has started walking to the door, he then turns to the heroes.
Iron Maiden wrote:"Sir, we are officers of the law... doing our duty.*"
"Century Station? " the demon snorts. "I don't know who invited you, but I can assure you that any jurisdiction you have does not extend to my client's property. I am a personal friend of the sheriff's in both adjacent counties and can have them here in three hours flat if need be."
Lenok wrote:"Someone tell me he's joking, does he honestly think a ring of serial killing, demon worshipers, trying to take over the world is going to thwart justice with trespassing claims?"
"Excuse me! I will have you know that I am a named partner at Van der Ourse von Falkenhauser and Finn. Those are malicious falsehoods against me and my client." The demon points a finger angrily in the direction of the Omegas. He might actually be a lawyer based on the way he is acting. "That is slander! I will sue you and your entire agency over such baseless allegations!"

Edison tries to defuse the suggestion and suggest a peaceful arrest, but before he can Lenok charges into action:
Edison wrote:"Are you shitting me? I don't think we have all day to list the crimes that have been perpetrated in the area in just the past week. Please surrender quietly and we can move on..."
Lenok wrote:"Screw this!"
The dragon draws out his mystical sword but before he can strike the demon/lawyer, the villain creates an impenetrable wall of force. Lenok's sword reverberates against the magical wall, yellow light shimmering across the full length of the Mansion. Edison and Sicilia try to test the wall further, the former by unloading a barrage of bullets and the latter by turning into her stone form and trying to batter her way through. None of these attacks work.

"Yes, that will keep you busy while I conclude business with my client." The demon looks satisfied with himself, adjusting his suit jacket by the lapels, and walks inside the mansion.

If Steiblah does head into the library, he will encounter a man in his late 40's/early 50's in a blue suit and sunglasses. He is standing in front of an odd pedestal with a crystal ball on it. Just behind the pedestal is a small platform made from a black metal that has been wrought into twisted columns. He is not surprised by a Raksasha walking into the room, and instead barks questions at the reformed demon, "Are you the new help that I wished for? What's going on outside? Where is Grizz?"

WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS?

Aden Mansion 2.jpg
Notes on map: The symbol 'GD' stands for Greater Demon, and the symbol 'Al' is for Al Aden (SPOILER!). The narrow yellow rectangle is the impenetrable wall of force; it is 200 feet by 200 feet and tilted at a 60 degree angle so it covers part of the roof of the mansion as well. While not marked on the map, the Greater Demon is standing at the front door of the mansion, and there are windows all around the place. Last, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I have reduced the of everything to 1/3 of what was in previous maps. At original scale, the mansion was freakishly large, which I took stock of when dividing the mansion into rooms.

* I reorganized all of your dialogue a bit to make the scene more organic and give everyone a moment.

Flashing the demon in a suit a lazy salute, Steiblah hustles inside.

I wonder who that demon was and what he was tasked to do. Maybe also assigned by Benée? If so, it'd be hard to tell how long he has been here, time in the Rocks being a flat circle after all.

Edison thinks as he flips his pistols in his hands so he's grabbing the the barrels, and begins to break out one of the windows. Edison takes some care on the bottom part, so he has an easier grip, before making an attempt to climb into the building.

Sicilia first headbutts a wall. Then she slaps her tail against it. Then she gnaws at it. Finally, she hisses indignantly and licks it, shaking her head at the taste. Ugh. Rotten lemon. For a full minute after, she pettily directs the thought of an off-key chorus of Another Brick in the Wall at the greater demon. Fortunately (or unfortunately), it sticks in her head so she doesn't need to focus on it as she moves away and looks about for another way through.

She slithers the opposite direction of Edison, and once she manages to get the song out of her thoughts she sends a thought his way privately. It looks like the field goes all the way around. Let us know if you find a way in while Iron Maiden and Lenok start their digging project.

She flicks her tongue out from time to time, keeping the scents in the air fresh on her tongue and ignoring the awfulness of the wall beside her, her rocky tail leaving deep groves in the dirt as she passes through, when she isn't on stone or concrete.

Confronted by a large impenetrable wall of force, the Omegas try to find a way around the barrier and into the Aden Mansion. For some of them that means going under the wall. Iron Maiden turns her hand into a shovel and tries to dig under the asphalt driveway, with a shovel. Lenok makes a more serious attempt at getting under with his powerful claws, but he is not moving as fast as he could hope.

Realizing the futility of this effort Edison runs to his left and sees a home office. He uses his pistol to break the office window and jump in. He looks aroudn the room and sees a large desk made from an exotic dark wood. Behind the desk are several bookshelves, oak but with a tasteless dark finish that almost matches the desk, all filled with binders. In front of the desk is a conference table, and there are three file cabinets near the door. And there is smoke slowly drifting from the filing cabinets. A lot of smoke. In fact, it seems to also be coming from the hallway. If Edison decides to go out of the office he will find that the hallway is full of smoke, it must be coming from another room too.

On the opposite side of the mansion, Sicilia reaches the corner and doesn't see any signs of the magical wall. If she she looks in the window she sees a long room with a wood parquet floor. Wrought metal chandeliers hang along the ceiling, and at the far end is a dining table that can probably seat up to a dozen people. Beyond that there's nothing to report. Sicilia might wonder where everyone is.

Al Aden is in the library with Steiblah. Using his enhanced senses, Steiblah can immediately tell that the machine in the corner is associated with the Rocks. It is radiating an evil aura that isn't much different from the what he sensed when he was tripped in one of the pocket dimensions. Steiblah's eyes move along the floor and he notices that the power source for the machine is the pedestal with the crystal ball.

When Aden asks Steiblah what he is doing, the reformed demon plays coy. Some might say it is like watching a kitten innocently bat a ball of yarn.
Steiblah wrote:"Grizz? Is that the name of the doorman in a suit? Is he your butler or something?"
"Grizz van der Ourse, the demon bear acting as my lawyer," the mortal says; thrusting a finger at Steiblah, he continues with a sneering drawl, "and he's your direct superior. If he sent you here he gave you orders."
Steiblah wrote:"Benée sent me. Didn't say much except to hurry. You're going to need to quickly give me the summary of what is going on and what you need. Name's Steiblah."
"Yes, I wished for you to be here several minutes ago. Where have you been? Did you see the intruders outside?" Aden pauses. "Something's off..."

He slides his hand over the orb and it begins to glow. This starts the machine, and blue light starts to emanate upwards from the pedestal, slowly taking a human form.

"Benée! Who is this?" Again he points an accusing finger at Steiblah. "I wished you to send me help!"

WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS?

Notes on map: The yellow square is still the impenetrable wall of force, the dark grey smudges in the hall near Edison are smoke, and Sicilia is standing in front of a window.

Not yet knowing of those having made their ways inside, Lenok grows in frustration at the seemingly dead end they have ran into. in concentration his mind pops a question, but it's more of a affirming one, to himself. ~If I keep it up, under pressure, somethings going to crack, somethings got to give, right?~

Chastity is not getting very far with her digging. she steps back a moment to consider what she could turn into to be more effective, then realizes Edison is gone.

It does not taking much looking to see where he went, the broken glass is pretty obvious. She sees the Lenok is producing a pretty impressive lightning storm, and says into her radio, "Keep up the attack Lenok, it will keep attention focused on you. Edison found another way in and I will follow him, with your distraction we might not be noticed."

She is not sure if the dragon will even here her over the thunder and the static interference from his own lightning, but at least her tried to let him know.

She quickly follows through the window and looks around for Edison. She thinks, We should probably stick together.

She notices the smoke and thinks, Did the lightning attack cause this, or something else? We might want to put out the fires to save evidence for later investigation.

She will transform a limb into a fire extinguisher if she can, or grab one if she sees one.

Edison takes a brief moment to gather his wits and view his surroundings. Money certainly doesn't buy taste. Edison thinks ruefully. Why would the filing cabinets be smoking, is this more demon stuff? Edison thinks as he moves into the hall. Edison reaches up to his helmet and switches his view to Thermal for a few moments to see if there is a fire. Before moving in a southerly direction. This is certainly one hell of a job we're on. Be real nice if any of the heavy hitters were here. Edison thinks sarcastically as he looks for something to vent his frustration on, hearing anything likely being out of the question with the noise from outside.

If Edison comes upon Al Aden, Benée, and Steiblah, he'll observe for a few moments before making his presence known. "Am I interrupting something?"

A demon bear?! And he is supposed to be Al Aden's lawyer? How fascinating! Was this the 'paralegal' job I was so flippant about and passed up? How did Benée manage to find a demon bear to do the job instead? Strange, I didn't see a collar on their person. So either it was hidden well, or Grizz has managed to perform enough evil deeds on behalf of the Rocks that he may be nearly "reformed" back to its demonic ways. I should be take care with my interactions with him. Treachery is the name of the game among the demonic population after all... When the Raksasha's mind turns toward the thought of treachery over the eons, something clicks.

Lore: Demons & Monsters. d%: [31] = 31 | 103%

Demon bear? Dysasha? Most Dysasha splintered away from Hades to marshal their support behind the Persian god of Evil, Bringer of Death, Ahriman. And when Ahriman drew the ire of the combined Gods of Light in alliance with elemental forces, legends say that they were imprisoned alongside Him in another dimension where he rules, but cannot leave. "The place of bad food, the house of the lie."

Why then would a Dysasha find themselves imprisoned in The Rocks to be working toward demonic redemption? He must have first found his way beyond Ahriman's imprisonment, then to be re-captured within The Rocks when he crossed the wrong demon. Or else perhaps The Rocks themselves are somehow affiliated with the dimension Ahriman is trapped on and the god is able to send Dysasha there at a whim. That may explain the lack of a collar. A third possibility is that Ahriman schemes and Grizz is an agent of Ahriman sent to The Rocks as a representative of Ahriman to negotiate some manner of alliance of evil with the overlords of The Rocks. I will need to keep all three possibilities in mind moving forward, lest I fall prey to... Treachery.

Another thought occurs to him and he mentally shakes his head at supposing that Grizz was a prisoner of The Rocks.

Benée also mentioned that these efforts would: "ruin whatever plans Andra and his pet bear Vorse, have for that stupid lake". Andras, Marquis of Hades... everyone knows. Could Grizz van der Ourse be also known as Vorse? Grizz van der Ourse, Vorse. Van der Ourse, Vorse. Van-der-ourse, Vorse. Yes, I should certainly operate on the distinct possibility that Van der Ourse is an agent of Andras, Marquis of Hades.

Though his mind is busy with various speculations and musings, Steiblah outwardly responds to the mortal's verbal fury with a blank and empty stare. His eyes appear extra-glassy, their shining reflection doing little but reflecting Aden's own angry visage back at him. One might even wonder if that isn't a glob of drool beginning to form from the corner of his mouth, gently being pulled downward by gravity's weight.
CHIMERA wrote: Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:50 am"Yes, I wished for you to be here several minutes ago. Where have you been? Did you see the intruders outside?" Aden pauses. "Something's off..."

"Benée! Who is this?" Again he points an accusing finger at Steiblah. "I wished you to send me help!"
From his stupor, Steiblah maintains the look of a dullard while Aden activates the machine, summoning Benée. Then, in the moment after the accusing finger is pointed his direction and Aden's gaze turns toward Benée, the Raksasha, infused with preternatural reflexes and awareness, tries to make his move.

Prowl. d%: [17] = 17 | 94% <== Try to cover the distance between him and Al Aden silently. (69% + 25% enhanced perception+reflexes)

Once the distance is covered, Steiblah metaphorically pounces. His goal is to attach the silver collar he carries in his hand around Al Aden's neck. The Raksasha will try the most straightforward effort twice. Should both efforts fail, Steiblah will reach out to pull nearby chairs/tables or if not available, books from the bookshelves ((TK: Super. 6.00 min. -30 ISP. 300 lbs. 3 items at a time)), sending them flying at Aden in an effort to distract him. With Aden's attention hopefully distracted by avoiding the new obstacles, Steiblah will try again (x2) to snap the silver collar around the mortal's neck. Should this effort still fail, the Raksasha will cast a Carpet of Adhesion and try to telekinetically push the mortal onto the sticky mat so that Aden's lithe form has less room to maneuver.

Should he successfully clasp the silver collar on Aden and manage to successfully step away from the mortal (without causing some sort of dimensional paradox), Steiblah will turn to address the Jinn.

"Greetings Benée. How are you?" the Raksasha asks conversationally.

The Old Aden Mansion is on fire. Smoke is pouring into the office in the east wing as Iron Maiden jumps into the building to back up Edison. Chastity notices that one source of the fire is a set of file cabinets near the door. She grabs a rawhide wall hanging and uses it to smother the fire in one cabinet*. From under the scorched leather she can see the charred edges of paper inside heavy binders and browned manila folders. Despite putting out one fire, the smoke in the office hasn't diminished. Iron Maiden looks over and sees that the other two cabinets are on fire as well.

Edison doesn't seem to notice his teammate and instead dashing into the hallway. The smoke chokes the breath out of him, and he stops to get low and turn on the thermal sensors on his body armor. He scans the hall; looking to his left he sees a large heat source in a room across from himself, to his right he sees a tall figure confidently stride into the library.

Before rushing in alone, Edison pauses. He knows that he doesn't have any back up at the moment. He can hear Lenok outside, testing the limits of his powers against an impenetrable wall of force. It's a brilliant light show demonstrating what the dragon is capable of doing. But much like Superman, all those impressive powers have no effect on magic.

The spellcaster seems to be the high powered lawyer and secret Dysasha Griselda** van der Ourse, walking casually into the mansions library. Dear reader, Grizz walks into a scene that he did not expect. Just moments earlier, Steiblah and Al Aden were alone in the library. Aden had turned on an evil device that Steiblah has figured out is a link to the Rocks. Using a quartz orb as a battery, it allows Aden to speak with Benée and make wishes, and in return Benée can send demons to carry out Aden's bidding. As Aden was questioning Benée about Steiblah, the reformed demon slowly made his move. And when the corrupted business man turned to harangue Steiblah he was met with a set of claws clasping a silver collar around his neck. It all happens to fast for Grizz to say anything.

Aden turns red with anger and steps back. "What do you think-"

He stops shouting, and looks down. The collar is glowing, and so is Aden's neck. In less than a second his whole body is lit up, and his voice becomes a squeak. In a flash he is gone, the inevitable price for making deals with the demons trapped in the Rocks, and a small brown puddle drops on the carpet. Benée, a spectral blue outline of a jinn, covers their mouth trying to hide their sinister grin as it happens.
Steiblah wrote:"Greetings Benée. How are you?"
"Suprisingly better," they say with a giggle. "I can't believe you hellraiser'ed the twit like that. Bravo."

"Indeed," Grizz says walking up to Steiblah. In one glance Steiblah knows his counterpart. Without a doubt, the dysasha had been a loyal and talented acolyte Ahriman, trapped in an inescapable pocket dimension as punishment for his actions during the wars in hell. This Steiblah now knows having been trapped in one of the Rocks himself. But Grizz did escape, or rather he was rehabilitated in the eyes of Hades. He is clearly not wearing one of the infernal silver collars, but he still has the stench of the Rocks on him. "I thought you would have to convince him that this was the only way to escape those pesky heroes." Grizz lets out a cold chuckle. "Well, let's go join the fun while he's still alive."

He gives Benée a nod, and suddenly a blue portal, a more tangible form of what Steiblah jumped through to enter this dimension, forms next to the machine. Grizz walks right through.

WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS?

Notes on map: the red ellipse is the large heat source that Edison sees, and the blue ellipse is the portal Grizz walked through.

* Iron Maiden cannot transform her arm into a fire extinguisher, as she has no ability to produce the carbon dioxide it expels to put out fires.

CHIMERA wrote: Mon Feb 13, 2023 4:13 pmHe gives Benée a nod, and suddenly a blue portal, a more tangible form of what Steiblah jumped through to enter this dimension, forms next to the machine. Grizz walks right through.
"Here we are," Steiblah states plainly to Benée, glancing at the portal to ensure that Grizz has fully passed through it. "I once offered to take a look at the chains that bind you. This certainly looks to be the machine you were speaking of. Good Guy Steiblah is true to its word. How do I procure your freedom?" I can only presume that Benée is eager to obtain freedom...

Should the instructions Benée provides be straightforward and doable, Steiblah will try to do as instructed. If instead it requires Steiblah to return to Hades, the Raksasha will acknowledge the Jinn's predicament, ask for more detailed instructions and tuck that knowledge away potentially for another time.

"Think I'll stick around here for a bit and see what kind of impact Good Guy Steiblah can make." he will declare to Benée before heading down the hallway.

If Steiblah sees/smells the thick smoke from the fire, he will rush toward the inferno and, heedless of the danger, relying on his infernal origins ((impervious to toxic gases, heat and fire)) to keep him unharmed, head toward the heart of the flames. Should he pass anyone on his way, he will announce himself by simply saying, "Good Guy Steiblah." Once at the heart of the fire, the Raksasha will call upon his pyrokinetic ability to extinguish flames ((instantly put out 15ft diameter of fire per application. -4 ISP. 7 APM)).

Never having been on this side of the fire before ((putting it out)), he doesn't know better than to simply ensure the fire is out before looking around for survivors or people to rescue.

Iron Maiden continues fighting the fire, wishing she had something more effective to fight it with. It is likely the files are evidence and are being burned to keep them out of the hands of the law. Saving them and the mansion are both important. She hopes this is the only area the fire is in.

She decides to call on the radio, not sure if anyone will be in range to hear, "We have a situation. I am in a room full of files and it seems to be on fire. I am not certain if other areas of the mansion are on fire as well. I have an extinguisher, but may run out before the fire is fully stopped."

If she can not get the fire out, she may have to try to save what files she can. Hopefully she does not have any trouble breathing, she could create a breath mask, but probably can not do so while using both hands on the extinguisher.

There should be a fire control system in here, but the odds are good it was disabled by whoever set the fire. She is assuming the fire was set, though possibly the lightning Lenok is throwing started it.

Now she could possibly create a pressure pump to generate liquid nitrogen or something, but is not sure if she could separate out the oxygen. It might put out the fire from the cold generated as the gasses evaporate...or it might fan the flames if there is too much oxygen. She is not entirely sure. It would take a while to design and test such a pump though, and time she does not really have.

She continues to try to smother thee flames with the leather wall-hanging, but looks about for any fire extinguisher or water faucet or other thing she could use to do the job better.

Continuing to focus his attack, he tries narrowing the beam. ~Even if it isnt breaking now, it is a large distraction, but am I really giving it my all?~ Lenok starts stepping towards the shield while still releasing his blast.

Lenoks believes his continous blast of lightening and sound is working, so he pours everything he has into it and seemingly a change begins to appear to spread over him too. The lightening seems to be getting brighter and instead of branching out as lightening normally does, it starts to stream line into what appears as one coherent beam of focused light a few moments later.

Lenok starts glowing so brightly that onlookers have a hard time looking directly at him without seeing spots in their eyes, cloaking the fact that he is floating above the ground. His form then shifts back to a humanoid form, although it's unsure if he is human in appearance as he is too bright too look at. A moment later when he starts to move at the shield, again his entire body shoots forward at such sharpingly increased speeds he appears to have teleported, when infact he turned into pure light and shot forward not unlike a laser beam at the shield.

1: Enery Expulsion; Electricity strike 1d20+10: [5]+10 = 15 Damage 6d6+4: [3, 3, 6, 3, 4, 3]+4 = 26

All attacks directed against the character are done at -5 to strike and other combat in the brightly lit area is done at -1 to strike, parry and dodge, because the bright light makes it difficult to see without squinting and blinking. 8. Laser Flight: Hovering and flying is the light form character's natural state. He can fly at a speed equal to his Spd attribute even in solid human form, but when transformed into a creature of light he can turn into a laser-like beam of concentrated light and rocket himself to other locations in the blink of an eye.

Edison finding the air difficult to breath, moves forward, coughing as he goes. Al Aden better be in that room, he needs to put a stop to this nonsense. Edison thinks as he moves southerly towards whatever room is down that way. Why is everything suddenly on fire? Edison thinks as he continues to move. If Edison makes it out of the smoke, he takes a brief moment to get his bearings, before moving on. Alright any other creatures? doesn't appear to be, I guess we trudge forward then.

If/when Edison gets to the room with Benée and Seiblah, he looks at the two, "What is happening here? Why is everything on fire all of a sudden?" Edison asks before coughing up a lung from smoke inhalation. I just need to find out what is going on now, before the building burns down around me. "Please tell me there is an end to this madness."

As the fire rages through the east wing of the Aden Mansion, Iron Maiden tries her best to contain what's going on inside the office. She has successfully smothered small fires that had burned most of the contents of two file cabinets. From the two, Iron Maiden sees that she can save either an overstuffed binder whose loose pages don't appear to have suffered any fire damage, an old and poorly bound leather tome with parchment sheets, or a large hard drive that is wrapped in its own cables. To her right, Chastity also sees the third still smoldering file cabinet. She'll have to act quick as even more smoke pours into the office from the hallway.

Lenok can see that the blaze is intensifying. The dragon threw all of his superhu... what do you call the additional powers of a dragon? These are already supernatural beings with immense powers, and Lenok has powers on top of that. Do we call them super-dragon powers? Regardless, the point is that Lenok exerted so much power at an impenetrable wall of force that he eventually transformed into a being of pure energy and light and teleported past the magic. Taking the spectral form of a glowing samurai, he looks to his left and sees flames peeling the paint off the hallways. He doesn't need Edison's thermal sensors to see that the main source of the fire is behind the wall and it is spreading fast.

Speaking of Edison, he has stumbled on the source of all the evil around the lake - a machine that has allowed Al Aden to summon a jinn from a unique part of Hades known as the Rocks. Benée appears like a ghost, a light blue outline of their demonic form, hovering over a twisted metal platform and talking to Steiblah the reformed Raksasha.
Steiblah wrote:"Here we are."
"Here we are," Benée repeats with a smug satisfaction.
Steiblah wrote:"I once offered to take a look at the chains that bind you. This certainly looks to be the machine you were speaking of. Good Guy Steiblah is true to its word. How do I procure your freedom?"
"Well that's the thing," Benée says, "I'm never escaping. My Rock keeps a tight grip on me. The best you can do is destroy the machine that links me to this dimension in three easy steps."
Steiblah wrote:"Think I'll stick around here for a bit and see what kind of impact Good Guy Steiblah can make."
Benée sits down cross-legged and clasps their hands. "If you break this thing, you will permanently close one of the gates that allows the Rocks to send their prisoners here. It will also untether my prison from this place forever, which is less good. But you know, I'd rather be digested than have to do the bidding of unimaginative mortals that are so easily corrupted."
Edison wrote:"What is happening here?"
Steiblah wrote:"Good Guy Steiblah."
"Benée the jinn,"the blue specter raises their hand while still seated. "The owner of the mansion was using me to summon demons, at least until the 'Good Guy' over there sent him to Hades to receive his punishment. (Cold-blooded.) Now we're going to make sure no more demons show up!"
Edison wrote:"Why is everything on fire all of a sudden?"
"Oh, that," Benée chuckles. "I bet Vorse, the dysasha masking as a lawyer is destroying all the evidence. It's a brilliant scheme! First I get the ponce to wish for a ludicrous sum of money. Then the tax collectors show up, and the mortals wish for a lawyer to make all their problems go away. And then, Vorse ropes them into doing even worse things - summoning demons, doing more crimes, then summoning more demons to do unspeakable acts - until we get to this point, and the mortal gets sucked to Hades. Usually, Vorse will start a fire and leave several propane canisters nearby for good measure. You might want to step about... 20 feet closer to me. Those should be primed to explode now and you don't want to be in the blast radius."
Edison wrote:"Please tell me there is an end to this madness."
Benée gets up and smiles, "Sure, if that's what you wish..."

Chastity realizes, a bit belatedly, that most of the heat and smoke is coming from beyond the room. She thinks, The whole bloody mansion is on fire, it may not even have started here. I need to save what I can for investigation and get out. Hopefully Edison can get himself out.

Wanting to save as much as she can, she takes hold of the first filing cabinet. Anchoring herself to the floor by transforming her feet into clawed grips, she turns her arms into a basic trebuchet/catapult type device, grips the entire cabinet and cranks up the device to toss it out the window she came in. The window should be large enough to fit it.

She then proceeds to do the same for the second cabinet, not knowing what inside will turn out to be valuable.

Finally, she looks about the room and thinks, It is probably too late to save the third filing cabinet. I better head down to the lake shore and see if I can pump water hard enough to get it up here to fight the fire.

She jumps out the window and calls over the radio...not sure anyone can here her, "I am going to go play fire pump, perhaps I can get enough water up here to put out the fire."

Not that she really expects it to work, but no one else here has even a chance as far as she can tell. If the dragon is still there, perhaps he can use his wings to help blow the water further or something.

She hopes the lake monsters can not attack her while she is working...

Looking at his hands an then around at the flames. He tries touching the walls and flames but seemingly passes through it. ~Well damn, now what, how do I do this like THIS? Maybe if I cocentrate~ Focusing hard with his hands and starring hard at them He unknowingly emits a laser blast through his hands from his eyes.

*blinks* ~Well that happened. This is not the time for this, what the hell am I to do now?~ Trying again to make a more solid form, his body bursts fourth into a extremely blinding light, not unlike ground zero of a nuclear drop.

A moment later after the light had dulled, his face is flat, with a not impressed scour on his face. ~Ok this shit isn't funny, how the hell do I turn this off? It feels like my metal ability, but not, similar but only like a softdrink is similar to water cause it's wet, it's more complicated, Someone has to have some expeirence with this, or something similar, I am damn near useless right now. Way to go "HERO"~ He scoughs at himself with disgust at the last thought. Activates his invisibility since that is a power he does have familarity with. ~So incorporeal, and invisible, great, I'm a fricken ghost.~

"I am a Freak" *Sighs* "I hate puberty." he tries moving through the house. Upon realizing he can not go through a wall or door.~Well at least my flying is pretty similar, for now...~ He tries activating his Metal Armor shell.

Combining these nuggets of information, Steiblah looks in the direction Edison came and begins to sprint toward the fire.

"I will return shortly," the Raksasha calls over his shoulder as he leaves the Jinn and the machine that binds him in a bit of a decision limbo (and perhaps an opportunity for Benée to entice Edison). Due to his haste, he also doesn't quite hear Benée's mention of propane canisters and will be heedless of the danger they pose.

If there is a fire, either destruction of evidence or this entire building might be on the agenda. I must quickly put it out otherwise those inside will be in danger!

Steiblah will speed his way into the heart of the fire, freely spending his psychic energy reserves to pyrokinetically extinguish flames ((instantly put out 15ft diameter of fire per application. -4 ISP. 7 APM)) as he goes. He will not sacrifice speed however, as he is intent on reaching the original source of the flames, not fight the fire on its perpiphery.

Edison does as instructed and steps a bit closer. Demons... If I never see one again. Edison thinks.

A moment will pass, before Edison turns to back to Benée. "So. I just have a question or two, if you're willing. If we destroy the machine what happens to the Demons in the lake?" Edison asks, his mind not liking a prolonged engagement with aquatic villains. "And How do I destroy the machhine?" Edison asks.

Puberty is an awkward time, as one struggles to control their still developing body as it grows and takes on new features. For example, should one be a dragon, puberty might not just stop at sexual maturity but include taking on additional (and unstable) super powers. That is something that Lenok is learning as he has just developed the ability to turn into a being of energy. He manages to teleport into the burning Aden mansion. Realizing that the fire is intensifying with dangerous speed, he tries to get himself together and corporeal. In the process he accidentally fires an energy beam down the east wing's hallway, and throw the wall into the room where Al Aden kept his exercise gear, landscaping tools, and several crates of dynamite (as one does). The dynamite explodes, devastating the entire east wing of the mansion, and then triggering a second explosion from the propane tanks in the second hidden office.

Dear reader, you might be wondering why there was that many explosives in the Aden mansion, all concentrated near the master bedroom suite. Well, as you might expect, getting involved with demons creates a vicious cycle. Wishing for demons to solve one's problems leads to more problems that can only be solved by more demons. Getting involved with demons also creates what law enforcement would call 'incriminating evidence', things that would connect an unethical real estate developer, for example, to the demons even more and that our hypothetical developer could not get rid of. Grizz van der Ourse, being a demon and a lawyer, has seen this happen all before. When this vicious cycle reaches its climax, just like it has for Al Aden, someone has to destroy all that evidence leaving a clean slate for the next person to buy this manor and activate Beneé's infernal machine. Because there will be another person, Aden bought this mansion in an estate sale after the previous owner had been sucked into Hades; he had to do an entire gut rehab of the mansion.

Beneé is trying to explain this to Edison and Steiblah, but when Steiblah hears fire he recklessly runs into the thick of it. He is hit by the first blast from the dynamite, the shockwave and debris from one destroyed wall knocking him back (force field destroyed, -70 S.D.C.) into the library. The entire room shudders, the random thin volume slipping loose from a shelf. The force knocks Edison to his knees.

Iron Maiden is not so lucky. She decides to take the time to catapult the file cabinets with some of the incriminating evidence out the window (not thinking if that would destroy the fire damaged and fragile contents inside). As she lifts up the first file cabinet she is hit by the initial blast from the dynamite. Before she can even be knocked down a fireball rushes around her engulfing her in flames and throwing her out the office window with a violent force. Iron Maiden's blazing and severely burnt body skids along the driveway of the Aden Mansion followed shortly by two of the flaming file cabinets. The first lands on Chastity's lower torso breaking both of her ilia and a femur, the second crushes her head killing her on the spot. From his spot in the foyer, Lenok just watches as the entire east wing of the mansion disappears in a swirl of light and heat, leaving a grim haze inside the cavernous mansion interior.

Back in the library, Steiblah slowly regains his footing as he watches the fireball swirl in front of the door but never crossing the threshold. "This building has good (cursed) bones," the jinn explains. "Everything but this room has been torched a dozen times by now."
Edison wrote:"So. I just have a question or two, if you're willing. If we destroy the machine what happens to the demons in the lake?"
Beneé smiles and leans forward as Edison speaks. They are amused to have someone ask questions before making impulsive (and frankly, evil) wishes. "No. The machine isn't what keeps them here. You could wish them..." the jinn stops when they see Edison's very non-responsive glower. "You might want to call someone and get a boat and more guns to hunt them."
Edison wrote:"And how do I destroy the machine?"
"That's a lot easier," Beneé says, the weight their words heavy on their voice. "Do you see those large cables connecting that pillar to my platform." Beneé points down to what appears to be a series of black metal pipes running along the floor. "If you sever them, the machine is permanently broken. The wires inside can't be repaired. And once that happens my connection to this plane is gone forever. Freedom..."

Edison looks about after the shockwave knocks him to his knees. Christ! Edison gets up with a mild groan. "Alright then, let's get this over with." Edison says as he moves over to the pipes. Edison looks at the cables and sighs as the thought runs across his mind. I don't have anything to cut these with, not even a saw... fu..! Mentally cursing himself and making a note to add some manner of utility tool kit to his next setup, Edison looks to Steiblah. "So we have to sever these, and I don't have the necessary tools. Are you able to? I should get my other team mates..." Edison says before looking for an exit that isn't on fire. "Benée, we'll be back in a few minutes." Edison adds, while Benée is evil, it doesn't mean that Edison needs to be rude. Edison considers a path, and ends up going the longer route of climbing out of a blown out window.

Once outside, Edison looks at the aftermath of the buildings partial destruction and probably notices the unfortunate fate of Iron Maiden. I am not looking forward to the next check in... Yeah, we solved the problem but both Wi-Fi and Iron Maiden are dead now, and we barely have any evidence as to what actually happened. Edison thinks morosely to himself before sighing and looking to Lenok and Sicilia. "So Al Aden is gone, off to be punished for his hubris in Hades. The Machine needs disabled, and to do that we have to cut some particularly tough cables. I didn't think I would be doing such work on this mission, so I don't have the necessary tools. But given your strengths I'm sure you two will be able to deal with it." Edison sums up the mission statement to the remaining Bravo team members.

Perhaps fortunately, Chastity does not really have time to register much of the last few moments of her life. First there is the explosion, then hitting the ground, followed by something hitting her arm...then nothing after that.

Many things happen that Sicilia doesn't have the pleasure of seeing. The just imprisonment of (and potential slightly-less-just torture of) the man behind the demon summoning, the conversation between a shackled jinn and unshackled cat, and Lenok's series of personal discoveries being a few examples.

What she is witness to, however, is the explosion that rocks half the manor. Her reptilian instincts kick in, driving the serpent to rocket away from the source of danger. As she swivels about to face the manor once more, she catches Chastity's form smash into the ground, followed shortly by a painful, and then lethal take down by a duo of filing cabinets.

Her body is completely still for nearly ten seconds, not even breathing as every muscle in her rocky body tenses fully, ready to fight or flee before her mind finally catches up and takes charge. She slithers back into the open, tongue flicking out before she shakes her head. Ugh, That smells awful, she thinks to herself as she approaches her fallen comrade.

There is a pang of sadness in the serpent's thoughts, before she pulls herself together. Whatever did that is dangerous. I need to investigate and make sure the others are safe.

She makes her way forward, but doesn't get far before Edison gets out into the open, and begins speaking to the remaining Bravo members.
Edison wrote:"So Al Aden is gone, off to be punished for his hubris in Hades. The Machine needs disabled, and to do that we have to cut some particularly tough cables. Sicilia blinks from the dump of information without any context, her mind whirring for a second before her journalistic training kicks in and she moves closer to the building. Okay, so Al Aden was behind this, then? A Machine? I suppose that's what he was using to summon demons, somehow? I should be strong enough to bite through cables, though I don't know how resistant to electricity I am in this form, if it comes to it, though stone generally doesn't conduct electricity, I think.

She swivels her head over to Lenok, taking in the dragon's new form, her gaze inscrutable as always.
Lenok wrote:"About that, I currently can not interact with the physical world, it seems."
She nods once, and while the transformation it quite awesome, the snake doesn't seem overly amazed. Seems similar to my recent ability to shift into stone form. I wonder what caused the mutation? Something about this area, perhaps? Or just prolonged experience to the Omegas causes random power fluctuation in mutants? Not being a scientist, the best she can do is spin a story from it instead, so she chooses to shelve the thought for now before making her way to the manor, immediately gravitating toward the cooler sections, though she will need to rely on Edison for directions through the manor to The Machine.

:::Rolls held over:::

When Silicia makes herself known in their heads, he breathes a sigh of relief, out of gesture more than actual breath, something he notes as he felt no air exit is chest as he did so, or even in his chest at all. ~ok, so I don't interact with air either?~ Remembering his invisibility worked, he summons fourth his Metal shell finally as the explosion caught him off guard before he could before. The matter forms around him, and he tries to pick up some debris from the ground to test interaction now that he has physical matter added to his form, even if it is only a shell.

As the debris leaves the ground, he feels a small accomplishment discovering that he won't be inept as his first round of tests seemed to indicate.

Though he intends to put himself in hazard's way, the reformed Raksasha is wholly unaware of exactly how much hazard he is heading into. Rushing out of the room, he counts himself lucky that he did not make it far before cruel reality smacks him in the face in the form of a roiling explosion.
CHIMERA wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:25 pmHe is hit by the first blast from the dynamite, the shockwave and debris from one destroyed wall knocking him back (force field destroyed, -70 S.D.C.) into the library. The entire room shudders, the random thin volume slipping loose from a shelf.
Sent tumbling, rolling and finally skidding to a halt like a limp rag doll in the middle of the library, Steiblah's furry form is charred and thoroughly shredded.

Wha? the Raksasha thinks in confusion as he instinctively gets his feet beneath him.
CHIMERA wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 12:25 pmBack in the library, Steiblah slowly regains his footing as he watches the fireball swirl in front of the door but never crossing the threshold. "This building has good (cursed) bones," the jinn explains. "Everything but this room has been torched a dozen times by now."
Seeing the advance of the fireball thwarted from entering the library, Steiblah simultaneously counts his good fortune at not dying and chides himself for falling into the classic demonic folly, overconfidence. And I am not certain if my death will result in recycling into the demonic cauldron or if I will simply cease to exist. Since the latter is likely the case, I certainly need to be more careful.

He is largely quiet while Edison converses with Beneé about how to disable the machine.
Edison wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 1:21 pmMentally cursing himself and making a note to add some manner of utility tool kit to his next setup, Edison looks to Steiblah. "So we have to sever these, and I don't have the necessary tools. Are you able to? I should get my other team mates..."
Steiblah's gaze falls upon Edison. He is subsequently slow to respond, perhaps still recovering from the shock of the explosion, perhaps not able to hear fully, perhaps just confused at who this armored individual is. His inherent notoriety dispelling the need for a named introduction. He must be one of the good guy heroes here to make things right. The Raksasha is only able to nod softly.
Edison wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 1:21 pm"Benée, we'll be back in a few minutes."
Steiblah echoes the nod and falls in line behind Edison on his way out toward his team mates. Thinking quickly, he grants himself an Armor of Ithan, and then a second to Edison ((assuming he allows him)).

He stands at a pace or two behind Edison when he meets up with Lenok and Sicilia, discussing their needs. When there is a break in conversation, he will wave his hand in the air and make his introduction, "Greetings. My name is Steiblah. Good Guy Steiblah."

The latter clarification may seem an odd add-on, but makes perfect sense to the reformed demon to ensure the clarity of what 'team' he is on. He is therefore the picture of innocence as he follows along, shadowing Bravo squad.

Sicilia: Omega suit destroyed / 34 S.D.C. (stone armor)
Steiblah: Forcefield destroyed/ 70 S.D.C. / 263 I.S.P. / 105 P.P.E.

After the the dust has settled in the now decimated eastern wing of the Aden Mansion, Edison and Steiblah survey the room they are in. It does not to have been affected by the explosion beyond some items falling off shelves, and paintings tilting askew on the wall. Armed with the knowledge of how to destroy the machine that has summoned demons to the area around the lake, Edison takes Steiblah out to the foyer of the mansion and gathers the two other surviving members of Bravo, Lenok and Sicilia.

Edison explains the situation to the two and brings them back to the library where they are introduced to Beneé.* The jinn gives them a quick rundown of the Aden's scheme, similar to what they told Edison and Steiblah, and then explains how to destroy the device. "The cables are the only real structural weakness to the device," Beneé says, gesturing to black coils that run under the platform they are hovering above. "You can sever them with a reasonable amount of force. And with that, this lake will be off the Rocks. No one will be able to summon more demons here, and I will never be able to come back to your dimension."

WHAT ARE YOUR INTENTIONS?

* Feel free to role play your introductions to Steiblah and also Beneé. I'm fiating that these things do happen, but if you want to add more flavor to your post you can fill in the details, to a degree.

Seeing Lenok in metallic humanoid form and not having been given a proper named introduction prior, Steiblah can't help but assume that he is someone new to greet. Also, not having been given Edison's name, the Raksasha is limited in how much familiarity he can layer into his dialogue with Lenok and Sicilia.

Quietly glancing between individuals at the gathering, Steiblah can't help but ask, "Are there others, perhaps in danger?"

While awaiting an answer, the Raksasha's mind wanders a bit, triggered by the acrid stinging smoke filling his nostrils.

A large portion of the building is smoldering... any evidence of wrong-doing probably up on smoke. I wonder if Al Aden kept some of his most precious possessions within the library.

Once they return to the library, Steiblah will take some time and investigate the contents of the shelves on the library. Not necessarily looking for anything in particular, but trying to see if there is some trend and perhaps noting specific items that may break that trend.

Sicilia wrote:Okay, so Al Aden was behind this, then? A Machine? I suppose that's what he was using to summon demons, somehow? I should be strong enough to bite through cables, though I don't know how resistant to electricity I am in this form, if it comes to it, though stone generally doesn't conduct electricity, I think.
Edison nods. "Not sure they're even electric, whole situation screams magic, and I only have a passing knowledge of stuff like that." Edison says with a non-committal shrug.
Lenok wrote:"Lead the way to these cables, I was already immune to nearly all forms of damage before, save magical, I might be still."
Steiblah wrote:"Greetings. My name is Steiblah. Good Guy Steiblah... Are there others, perhaps in danger?"
Edison nods, and then stops. "Oh yeah, sorry. I'm Edison, the glowing man is Lenok, who did look like a dragon a bit ago. And my ophidian companion is Sicilia. We're member of an organization named CHIMERA, specifically Bravo team. As for folk in danger... As long as they sty out of the water we should be okay I think... Maybe." Edison says before leading the others to the machine. "Bravo, this is Beneé, he's linked to the machine and has graciously told us how to disable it." Edison says with a pause. "Avoid wishing for things around him. I'm sure that's how all this nonsense started." Edison says, before pointing to the rather thick looking cables.

Looking at the cat demon as he tries to reintroduce himself, he is just about to speak when Edison speaks up. "Steiblah, the others seem to be done with, the one who summoned you and the moron who asked him to cost them their lives it seems, as well as the several dozen innocents they sacraficed to do all this, that said lets get these power cables turned off to these damn portals before it costs more lives." With that Lenok forms a giant sword blade to hack through the cables, as he follows the desolated path back to the library.

((Rolls Carried Over))

Edison watches the scene unfold with nervous trepidation. The longer this jinn is here, the more likely someone says something that will end up being a problem. So far he hasn't appeared to lie. Edison thinks before he harumphs to himself. Edison shoulders his rifle and fires a shotgun slug into the cable. Good enough for door locks, maybe good enough for cables. Edison thinks as he does it, Firing a second shot if the first doesn't seem to cut it fully.

Fire Master Key. (Strike: 1d20+2: [15]+2 = 17 ; Damage: 5d6: [2, 1, 4, 6, 4] = 17 )
Second shot if first is insufficient. (Strike: 1d20+2: [12]+2 = 14 ; Damage: 5d6: [5, 3, 3, 6, 5] = 22 )

The remnants of Bravo Team have reunited along with the reformed demon Steiblah. After introductions are made, the group heads back to the library to see what they can do with the infenral machine that has been used by so many corrupted souls to summon demons. The ghostly image of a jinn, Beneé, hovers over the machine. They smile at the heroes as they walk into the room. In the rear, Lenok draws his magical sword. Beneé's eyes widen as the dragon waves it menacingly, "Have you decided what you're going to-"

Before Beneé finishes their question, Edison answers with the blast of his master key shotgun. The buckshut shreds through the dense material that covers the cable connecting the machine's power source, a black metal pillar with a quartz sphere, to the platform that summons the demons. Blue sparks cackle and the image of Beneé flickers. "Not wasting any time I see. Buckshot is an interesting choice, it will brack the cables outer membrane, but it isn't good for-"

Ignoring the jinn's critique, Edision fires a second shot. Beneé winces as they fade away, not quite gone, but less there than usual. "Almost there, one or two more shots like that and you might fully sever the link. Let me sing you a song good-bye. Stieblah... Stieblah... give me your answer true. I'm still crazy, all for a wish from you..."

They pause and look over Edison's shoulder to see a curious cat rummaging through the book shelves. Steiblah finds a series of old tomes and pulls down a buckhide bound journal, The Wilderness Log of Labon Cacques (1769 - 1803). He grabs a paperback notebook from a lower shelf, the title scrawled in a thick crayon, The Tragic Retirement of Shotgun Shelby, 1894. "Those are the assorted memoirs of all the people that made wishes with me over the centuries. Vorse liked to keep records of them for his own amusement. Beneé explains. Then they sigh, "It always happened the same way, they made a few ill advised wishes, ended up surrounded by demons, and then..."

XP Contest: Your PC is free to pick up one of those tomes that describes the tragic life of someone that discovered the machine and started making wishes with Beneé. What did they wish for? How did it inevitably lead to their terrible end? Witty, wild, and weird stories will be rewarded with up to 500 XP.
