Re: Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?
The cafe grows oddly quiet at Daisuke's musical entreaty. Barracuda instructs the customers of the cafe to head to the plaza. They all begin doing so, some taking photos. He also notices some that are happy to exit surreptitiously. The two Omega Knights however look confused at Barracuda's order. One hands over what looks to be a magic sword of some sort, but the other, the shorter of the two says, "My blade is bound to me and no one else. It would be unsafe to hand it to you. Anything else I would do, but this I cannot." Barracuda can sense that some element of either Daisuke's dong or Barracuda's request has put the shorter Omega Knight in doubt.
Grant weaves his magic, allowing him to hear King Corwin. Corwin immediately calls for backup. Someone near him can be heard on a radio requesting backup, including air support. Keiko guides Grant down an alley while he focuses on the King. She clears the people with her ruse. With the thundering combat just a block away, NO ONE questions what she has to say. Grant further hears combat of various forms and a call from someone else to protect the King, to which Corwin rejects. Seemingly he is bent on taking on Vheld. Grant hears him order a withdraw to the college and to reinforce the entrance until reinforcements arrive.
Ronith makes his way closer. With the smoke grenades, a path is easy to find. Non combatants are fleeing for the exits. Drawing closer, Ronith confirms that most of the soldiers with Vheld not only wear the grey dead boy armor, but their fighting tactics suggest they actually are or were Coalition troops. A luminous bird appears at Vheld's command, streaking into action, following by other magics both aiding his allies and harming his foes. The Spooks are holding their own as they launch a hard offensive with a healthy barrage of mini missiles. Corwin and the Omega forces withdraw inside the College, reinforcing the entrance. Ronith hears the familiar whine of SAMAS in the distance.

I wonder what Vheld’s trafficking in over here. Doesn’t look demonic. One point for him being a useful ally, or at least source of information. Still, we have to move carefully. Pick our moment carefully. Ronith then slips from his hiding place, doing his best to stick to the shadows and take advantage of his meld, and tries to make his way to Grant and Keiko. Assuming he makes it to them without being detected by any hostiles, he will reach out and tap one softly on the shoulder as he says ”Are you two all right?” As the noises of the SAMAS pick up, Ronith says ”Now may be our chance. If we can remove Vheld from this battle, we may be able to get some answers. Grant, do you think you could do a modest teleport to get us out? Keiko, I’m sure your skills will be useful as well. Get ready- I will try to disable them after the SAMASes attack.” Ronith readies a blinder grenade.

Those around him are trying to get him to retreat, but he is refusing. There's a man on a giant dog that he wants to fight. Oh, he wants to withdraw to the college." He gives the landmarks needed for the elf to find them.
When Sir Ronith arrives and they bring themselves up to date, he says, "We were just a squabbling couple to the guards at the exit. We are both fine." He thinks about the question of teleporting. At Barracuda’s “What say you” prompt, Daisuke opens his mouth as if to speak, but warps his own voice to sound like a rowdy studio audience jeering at the offending Omega Knight. The Arismal does not maintain this sound for long, and is quick to return to a loose at-attention stance.
When Corwin gives the knight a chance at redemption, Daisuke permits himself a moment of reflection. That is an unexpected twist. I wonder what he is playing at?

Re: Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?
Ronith slides out, unnoticed from the battle. In the alleyway he finds Grant and Keiko.
Barracuda strides forward as the King, seeking to intimidate the Omega Knight. While the other knight steps aside, the knight in front of him looks resolute. Certainly he can detect a strong sense of duty from the knight, but whatever tie he has to the weapon seems to be stronger than his fear of the king.
Asking for a recitation of the Emperors climb to power, the other knight joins him at attention. A few of the stragglers join the Knights in their recitation.
Odin, sitting in his halls of honor,
looked upon the field.
Saw an Elven emperor,
courage never yields.
Rivers of blood and fountains of magic
mingled in that air.
And the coiled serpent dreamed of havoc,
amid the war there.
Odin clad in armor, sounding horn's call
stepped upon that ground
Chose he an emperor fit for his hall,
And so Elf was crowned.
Upon completing the rhyme, the knights relax. It appears to Barracuda and Daisuke that this poem may be something expected of those in the Omega Forces. There doesn't appear to be anything more than that to their spiel.
Daisuke retains an open hand for the other weapon, but the Knight does not yield it.
Keiko inquires about maintaining zero casualties for their current actions.
As Ronith watches, the battles intensifies near the barricaded college as the sound of SAMAS near. Looking back, those on the scene, see two SAMAS zipping just over the buildings, swinging down towards the Spook forces.

Ronith frowns and considers. ”I‘m tempted to try to get him out of the city, but who knows if there are any adequate hiding places nearby.” Ronith sighs. Probably don’t want to wait for those SAMASes to get here, old man. Then he makes a decision. ”Alright. Grant, stay here and prepare your distraction. I fear that my words alone are unlikely to convince him- he needs to see my face, and that can't be done telepathically. Keiko and I will move as close as we can and rush Vheld after you do so- then, create a portal behind him. Get it as close to the Haven as possible- we’ll tackle him, jump through, and hide. Then you close the portal and meet up with us. Sound like a plan?” Once everyone is on board, Ronith will nod his head and begin making his way through the chaos. He’ll try to get reasonably close while still keeping a low profile- once he’s done so, he will fix his gaze on Grant and make for the magus’ signal. Then, he will charge Vheld as fast as he can and try to tackle the shifter through Grant’s portal ((roll to strike: 1d20+16: [12]+16 = 28 , roll to pull punch: 1d20+12: [18]+12 = 30 vs. 14 to do one point of damage)).Grant Latham wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 3:53 pm"I should be able to, if that mage was able to open portal in, it's worth a try. Re: Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?
The team coordinates a plan to take Vheld. Grant unleashes a large amount of energy and begins weaving powerful magics. It does exactly as he wishes, bringing two portals into existence in moments, followed by a harrowing illusion. Massive coils of a great serpent can be seen from a distance, eliciting screams and shouts. Many people scatter as the spell does its work.
Vheld shrewdly reacts, perhaps even preparing to dispel the magic, unsure of its purpose, when he notices the portals. Ronith is already steam rolling towards him, which places Vheld in a moment of shock.
Ronith seizes Vheld and forces him through the two portals, arriving back at the Haven.
Vheld is fighting wildly at this point, but rather than fleeing, his icy gaze is fixed on Ronith, determined to kill the emperor.
